1. GC: You will have before you the entity, [2441], born July 23, 1905 in Kane, Penna. The entity now seeks a Mental and Spiritual Reading, with information, advice and guidance as to making practical her spiritual, mental and material-physical abilities. You will then answer the questions she submits, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity, [2441]; the inquiring mind, and the application this entity has made of its mental, material and spiritual self thus far in this experience.

3. In giving suggestions that may be of aid, enabling the entity to fulfill the greater purposes in a spiritual, mental and material way in this experience, many things and conditions are to be considered.

4. As has been indicated, first the entity must within itself know it ideal, spiritually, mentally, materially; know the author, as to whether this may answer for every purpose that may be sought, for every experience - whether of a mental, spiritual, material or social nature.

5. These would be the first steps.

6. As from here, we would give, - study that which inspired those words expressed in the 30th of Deuteronomy and in the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of St. John. Not know only the record so as to be able to repeat same, but know it first as being directed from the spiritual influence from without to that spiritual influence within this body-mind. Thus make each phase of its life that which is held in its periods of meditation and prayer, as well as in the daily living in association, in connection with other individuals. This is the law that applies to those tenets expressed in: Know ye the Lord thy God is One. Know that He hath prepared a way. Know that He hath not willed that any soul should perish, but hath made the way plain - through Him who came into the world that man might have access to the Father. Know that He is indeed the way, the truth and the light, and they that would climb up some other way deceive themselves and would become robbers, robbing themselves of the assurance that He came that ye might have life and have it more abundantly.

7. As ye live those precepts that are His, - that is, ye shall love the father as thyself, with all thy heart, with all thy mind, with all thy body, thy neighbor as thyself, - ye manifest His glory, - not justify self in any manner but rather glorify that spirit which He made manifest, who thought it not robbery to make himself equal with God, who hath called thee to be as brethren with Him; not as a servant but equal with Him, that He with the Father may abide with thee always; giving that peace which cometh with the abiding presence of Him in thy consciousness.

8. Then, as ye manifest before thy fellow man, as ye do unto the least of thy fellow man, ye do unto thy Lord, thy God. This is the fear of the Lord and the beginning of wisdom. Not that knowledge alone is the way. Though it may be power, such power may be used to self’s undoing. For, there is a way that seemeth right to the children of men, yet the end may bring death. He is God, He is Savior, He is the Master of Life, not of death. He is God of the living, not of the dead.

9. In the application of those tenets, those principles, in dealing with others, they may be manifested in the fruit of the spirit, - patience, longsuffering, gentleness, kindness, brotherly love. These are manifestations of the spirit of that Christ. In self they may grow, as is the ability in self to come to that knowledge, that awakening of His promises abiding ever in thee. And such administration of love may bring healing, in body, in mind, to others.

10. This is the mission, this is the purpose that ye may establish in Him; not of thyself but in Him. For as He abideth in thee, thus may there be aroused to activity in the mind, in the heart, in the purpose of others that which is ever creative, living, the spirit of eternal love and joy and hope.

11. For He has given, - yea, hath by His own will and self established same, - “If ye will ask in my name, believing, doing, BEING that ye ask for, that the Father will do; that He - that YOU - may be glorified in and through me.”

12. That is the purpose, that is the way. For He is the way, the truth and the light.

13. Then, let not thy heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid, but putting on the whole armor that is manifested in Him, study to show thyself approved unto Him, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the words of knowledge from the words of truth; manifesting wisdom in thy choice, and choose life - day by day.

14. Thus ye may come to that throne of grace and mercy and light, in BOLDNESS. And thus may ye bring to thyself, to others, the knowledge - yea, the wisdom of serving the living God.

15. Ready for questions.

16. (Q) Would it be wise for me to make a change in my residence from …, Penna., to Virginia Beach, Va., for the furthering of the work there? Should the house be sold in …? (A) Do not sell the house under two years; it may be needed again for the furthering of other work to be done.

If thine inner conscience guides thee to assist, to aid in the work that is being disseminated from those activities in Virginia Beach, then choose that as a place of residence temporarily, or until such directions may be given for expansion - or greater work.

17. (Q) Is it possible to know the destination and the duration of the service rendered by my husband in the present conflict? (A) This depends upon too great a number of other conditions, to give a definite period. Two years, though, should see the returning to a more normal experience for the husband.

18. (Q) My interests are diverse - which one should be emphasized in this incarnation? (a) Fourth-dimensional painting - is this possible for me? If so, how to proceed? Would it be of a service to others? (b) Healing with color and tone - is this possible for me? If so, what should be the next step? Training, study, associates in this work? (A) Healing is the better channel. That the manner of healing would be always with color or tone would not be in keeping with the diversity of disturbing influences in others. That this be made the only means may limit the ability, as well as the scope of work that might be accomplished. But begin in the study in association with those influences, if directed there, and be guided in the use of vibration - which is another phase of color, of course, and of tone. Oft THIS becomes necessary. For, as has so oft been given, and as demonstrated in the experience of the Great Physician, He met the needs of the individual, - whether by the spoken word, vibration, or application of means that attune - the dissenting tissue or body to the divinity that is in each soul, each body who has acknowledged, who lives in the Christ Consciousness.

19. (Q) What should be the next step and associates in this work? (A) Read what has just been given. We have just given it.

20. (Q) What is the main purpose of this incarnation? (A) To glorify the Christ-Consciousness in the earth - in the lives of those with whom ye come in contact, and to live the same thyself.

21. (Q) Where may material be found on Purification which has been and is needed in body and mind for the attaining of the attunement to the Creative Forces? (A) In that study which has been pointed out. For, all is as of the first law - ONE. It lies within self.

22. (Q) What are the three major colors as manifested in the Personality, the Ego and the Monad? (A) Blue should be close to the body; white and gold.

23. (Q) The use of sound is needed in refining - what is the key and notes for me? (A) This will be awakened in the body-mind and consciousness as it attunes itself in the application of those tenets, those truths indicated in portions of the directions given.

24. (Q) Would colored light for my purification be of help? What type of light and where obtained? (A) As has been indicated, - as ye seek the door is opened. For as He hath given, “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If ye will open, I will come and abide with thee.”

Know there was not anything made that was made that did not pass through Him.

That abiding consciousness, then, will bring the knowledge of and the wisdom in applying same.

R1. 4/22/42 EC’s letter to Mrs. [2441]:

Dear Mrs. [2441]:

Have been a bit “puny” for last day or so hence the delay in writing you. Am in hopes you found the information of interest - will be most anxious to hear from you about it when you have assimilated the suggestions a bit. To be sure such readings give the real meat of the philosophy of the work as should be, while most decisions are to be found in the heart of the seeker - that too is the philosophy of the work. We are each a world of our own - and we make the kind of something we take to our Creator.

Note from Mrs. [1100], they have been to see you all - am sure you had a grand time, wish might have been with you. She also sent me a copy of Mr. Mcdermotts Lecture - The Occult side of the U.S. Have and am enjoying it very much, hope to have the opportunity of meeting Mr. McDermott - is a very marvelous man am sure.

Do hope if you are to make a change on account of the War - that you do come to Va. Beach. Can’t imagine any thing any nicer.

We were privileged to have our boy Edgar Evans] who is in army home on 10 day leave last week - he just finished school in signal corps, commissioned - and was yesterday sent on to Harvard for further studies in electricity, very fortunate, am sure and give thanks to The Christ.

Very beautiful here about now - tho getting to be a bit dry - have my garden in but of course nothing will come up until we have some rain.

R2. 4/22/42 Mrs. [2441]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Thank you for the beautiful reading! It was received on Monday and has been read and re-read many times. It showed me my need and is a guide for further unfoldment.

Was interested in the study of vibration for healing. Would you care to enlarge upon this a little. What do you think was indicated? It speaks of the spoken word as Vibration as well as color and tone. Does this mean by attuning the ear to vibrations in the voice or the spoken word of others I will know their need?

We haven’t heard anything further regarding Mr. [2462]‘s application for the Army. The office here has discontinued making out applications. They were to take 500 from this city and then from other cities so that the work would be evenly distributed over the country.

Was so good to have the [1100]‘s with us on the 12th of April. They met Raymond at that time and we seem like a big family. Or what a family should be - one harmonious whole. He gave his talk on the Occult Side of the United States. Perhaps Mrs. [1100] has mailed you a copy of it. If not I shall be glad to do so.

Heard from Mrs. [1472] and she told me about her experience at the Beach regarding her house which she selected at that time. It certainly must have been some definite revelation.

R3. 4/24/42 EC’s letter to Mrs. [2441]:

Dear Mrs. [2441]:

Thank you for yours of the 22nd - am glad you are pleased with your reading. Believe you will find something new most every time you read it or that is the experience of most of us. I thought it was a very lovely reading but of course didn’t expect any thing else, just look who it was for -

If I understand aright healing by vibration - is what some call Magnetic treatment. The vibration of your body so high that when you lay your hands on some one else the healing influence passes to them - that is a poor explanation but hope you get what I am trying to say. That as I understand is why - or how you feel the vibration of the spoken word - and how color to you is felt as vibrations. Of course color is vibration - but do very few feel it as vibration. Yes am sure you can attune yourself so, that you can know the real need of those who merely speak to you - and best of all you will be able to help them by tuning them to their needs physically and mentally. Oh yes, carries a great obligation with it - for if the blind lead the blind, both will fall in the ditch, but you have the attunement and the will and may be the shining light for many.

Suspect they will be calling Mr. [2462] soon - H. L. has to go back before the local board next Wed. That is how and why haven’t been able to make any plans for a trip - as he has to go to N.Y. soon about the book - “There is a River” - the story of my life and work - the special edition is to be out Nov. the 12th. Each book will be autographed - that is those who care to have same - but you will be having notice of same pretty soon now.

Edgar Evans was home last week, was commissioned 2nd Lieut., and when he returned last Monday they sent him on to Harvard. It is like a post graduate course in his Elec., Eng. Think he is very lucky, be there possibly three months.

Am sure you enjoyed the [1100]‘s - sure wish might have joined the crowd. Can’t imagine any thing nicer. Yes - Mrs. [1100] sent me a copy of the Lecture. It is very fine.

Yes - Mrs. [1472]‘s experience here at the house she bought was most interesting. I had a funny dream about her house also - dressed she was living there and I went in to see her, found three men there to see her. She did not know they were there - but when I told her they were waiting - and she spoke with them. Each had a report she had commissioned them to get for her when she lived in the Earth as the head of the Essenes in Palistine. Funny wasn’t it??

Am enclosing a letter think you will enjoy reading - a young man [2677] who had in a way lost his way - talking to his Mother [2454] who had been here for a reading persuaded him to come by and see me. He had his reading - this the result. Tell me what you think of it.

R4. 4/26/42 (Tuesday) Mrs. [2441]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Whether it was the news of ability to do Magnetic Healing or the boy’s letter to you that moved me so but immediately I went to the piano and played this hymn.

Praise, my soul, the King of heaven, To His feet thy tribute bring; Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, Evermore His praises sing; Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise the Everlasting King.

Praise Him for His grace and favor To our fathers in distress; Praise Him, still the same as ever, Slow to chide, and swift to bless; Alleluia! Alleluia! Glorious in His faithfulness.

Fatherlike, He tends and spares us; Well our feeble frame He knows; In His Hands He gently bears us, Rescues us from all our foes; Alleluia! Alleluia! Widely yet His mercy flows.

Angels in the height, adorn Him; Ye behold Him face to face; Saints triumphant, bow before Him; Gathered in from every race; Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise with us the God of grace.

Perhaps you wonder why the colored paper. My mother is caring for two ladies. One is in bed and the other one wants the same attention. So as I thought of their lives the idea came from the One. Why not play a game with them and call it A Game of Impressions. The Rules: Anyone can play because we all get impressions of each other. The one rule to keep is “Think only the Best of those whom you are getting impressions of.”

Color is used because the Beauty, Love and Truth on the One who created this vast Universe is done with His magnificent color brush. Let us open our eyes to the Beauty everywhere.

Then follows the impressions I received of them. And saying “May you enjoy this game and share it with others.”

Then I drew a circle with a dot in it and said “We all live in worlds of our own making with the help of the One who is our guide. We have an inner self, he is our true self, the image of the One who is or guide. And then we have an outer self who is not our real self but our personality.

To the one in bed.

The Real Inner You is the beautiful, motherly Self. This great, devoted, ever protecting Self draws many to you and they instantly recognize that here is one who gives to all she meets a great abiding live. This works out in the outer you as a kindly, loving personality to not only your own family, but to your neighbors and friends as well. Working always to have peace and harmony wherever you go. In your acts of kindness, in your speech and your thoughts which helps others to be more loving and kindly too, streams forth this motherly Self.

The colors which impress me that you would wear well are first, white for your purity of heart. Then a delicate tint of the softest rose adorned with baby blue jewels. How wonderful with your lovely hair!

At nine each day close your eyes and repeat for fifteen minutes silently, and try to realize spiritually, this healing thought.

“I AM STEADFAST IN PROCLAIMING THE INNER CHRIST AS MY HARMONY AND HEALTH.”

Then A Poem followed called In Thy Presence written by Mary Maxwell Pierce in one of the Unity magazines.

An then to the other one not in bed and who has just given up even dressing and has been upstairs for five years. She is able to be up and accomplishes work but then gets back into bed and has one thing or another with her. Mother wants to help them but can’t seem to arouse them to want to get dressed and come downstairs. The one in bed the doctor has given injections and she does seem to have a weak heart as she faints so easily.

Why I use the idea of the colors you would wear well is because they are interested in what others are wearing as they talk about clothes. Thinking that it would create a desire to have something new and colorful I used this idea.

To the one not in bed.

The real inner You is a great director, an efficient manager striving to make things better in an intelligent way. This works out in the outer you as a very dramatic personality. One that children would love because they like to “make believe”. This is your ability to get along with others and with children especially. Oftentimes a child’s home life is not filled with beauty, love and truth and so they try to escape from this their unlovely world by “make believe”. Not knowing of course that when they become adults this “make believe” also will help them to attain to their ideal in all ways. What they believe is true makes it come true.

Here is the Inner You with powerful energy and drive for helping others. Children would be delighted to have you as a director of pageants, plays and operettas because you have so much to give!

The colors that impress me which you would wear well are royal violet because you are so queenly in your manner. In one of your early lives you must have been a knight in armor. And then too a soft gray blue would make your eyes so beautiful. And for a special dress, one, that is cream in color. Perhaps one in fine lace with beautiful violet jewels to adorn it. How glorious that would be!

At the end of your day go over the day which you have spent and count each one of your friends as you would beautiful jewels on a string around our neck. Maybe today you have added a new found friend jewel to your lovely string. How thankful to the One for sending you this friend. Some one with whom to share your joys and sorrows.

Then too say - What have I given to others today to make their world happier? The One has given me many gifts have I used them wisely and well or have I wasted them? With love your friend.

This is what I thought might be of help to them. What do you think of this game? If you will notice I used the past life idea too.

What would be your impressions when you received such a letter done in color and I put some perfume in it too. I tried to appeal to all their senses.

You were in deed kind to share with me the letter from [2677]. He has indeed been helped and will be a great force in helping others. May God Bless Him. His last paragraph was what I needed!

Mrs. [2520] and I go tomorrow night to the Wesak Festival as held by the Arcane School in Chicago. They are having this meeting in Chicago because the many western students are unable to come as far as New York City but will get to Chicago. The Full Moon comes on the 30th of April this year. Am still thinking how nice to have you here.

R6. 6/2/42 (Tuesday) Mrs. [2441]‘s letter to EC:

At Home

Dear Mr. Cayce, Am so glad that you liked the Aura Chart [288-50]. It is strange how the artist is never satisfied with his efforts. Knowing that he can do better and be more perfect. It was fun and also took some interesting research to get it into shape. [2462] helped me with the finishing of the symbols - adding the outline. And Raymond tells us in my partial horoscope that we, [2462] and I were sometime together in artistic pursuits, having a tie through occupation - because my marriage to [2462] occurred when Venus went over the midheaven. In the new course I am studying at the school think that it will include Astrological symbols, the Tarot and the Kabbalah.

We were sorry to hear that you are not feeling so well. And we are also sorry to know that it will be impossible for you to visit us. Here’s to better health!

And now the news - I can’t attend the Congress. Had thought that by June the traveling would be so restricted that I went to Chicago instead using the money for that trip…

R8. 7/28/42 (Tuesday) Mrs. [2441]‘s letter to EC:

At Home

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Strange, I was thinking of you and a letter came from Mrs. [808] in which she told me of her emblem and she said the Cayce’s all wish to be remembered to you. I was just going to write you and thank you for the opportunity you have given me to do your chart [294-206]. When I first had it I sent out for helpful suggestions to Mrs. [2072], to Raymond and to a friend in the Arcane School. Since then much information has come to me regarding the first part of your chart where it said “We would begin by picturizing that to illustrate the period when the morning stars sang together and the sons of God came together announcing the advent of man into material consciousness.” Well much material has been found and today I received word of more descriptions given of this period in The Secret Doctrine, Isis Unveiled, the Bible and also a book which I don’t know name right now. So you see when you get your chart it will really be the work of many individuals giving their ideas, and all I do will be to put it down and I have gained in knowledge too. So I Do Thank You for this opportunity of doing this piece of work. Can’t say when it will be finished. Much reading needs to be done along with it, and then the sketching down of ideas, the perfecting of them in their drawing and then adding the coloring. Do you have any choice regarding the size? I enjoy working large such as the one I did for [288] because more detail can be worked into the whole. But if you like small things I will try to make it small.

Another thing, I was just thinking what fine experience for me to do these Aura charts - Raymond said it was really a new type of Art. No one has done much of such painting in our life. And then along comes Mrs. [808] asking me to do her emblem. I am glad to be able to serve in this way. Also the seal for [308].

Had a splendid week-end with the [1100]‘s when they came to … She and I had such a good visit on Saturday and she took me to lunch. Then on Sunday they both came out to see us. We enjoy their visits so much. Hope to go to Cleveland in September to hear C. Jinarajadasa. He is on tour of this country but will not visit …

R9. 8/42 Mrs. [2441]‘s letter to the Cayces:

Hello Folks,

Just thought it might be raining there and so I would send you a bit of the blue sky. We have had some splendid summer weather but the last couple of days it has turned very cold. Seems like Fall so soon.

We plan to visit with the [1100]‘s next week and to go to hear, C. Jinarajadasa lecture on “God’s Vew of the Human Situation.” Sounds interesting doesn’t it? He is to lecture on Wednesday, September 2 in Cleveland and he shan’t come to … this year.

Have certainly had some interesting times from your aura chart. I wrote to Mrs. [2072] that I certainly am growing in knowledge from the material that has to be studied before a thing like this can be done. In reading the “Lives of Alycone” by C. W. Leadbeater and Annie Besant they described the Lemurians as blue skinned and egg shaped heads. Do you suppose that the blue was because of atmospheric conditions? The Lemurians were the third Root-Race. The first being not of dense matter of the physical plane but of etheric matter. The second being the Hyperborean in Northern Asia. Then in another book it states that the present Negro races are mostly Lemurian, with a mixture of the Atlantean blood. But since individualization of animal-man into the human kingdom took place during the middle period of the Lemurian race guess I’ll make the figures as Negroes, Negritos, Negrillos. They are of the 5 and 6th sub-races of the third Root Race. The first three have left no trace at all. Mrs. [2072] sent me some material from a reading you had given and in it was the mention of Lilith [[364] series]. Since then Raymond has sent me some material about Lilith which he has gathered together over the years. So you see how your aura chart [294-206] is helping us all to grow.

No I do not mind doing the chart, the two seals of Mrs. [808] and for [308]. In fact, it is an experience that is so new to me that I haven’t yet learned how to do them quickly. But then the story goes that masterpieces takes years. I hope that it won’t take me that long to finish these. It is just in gathering together ideas and putting them down. After that it is no time at all.

R10. 10/5/42 (Monday) Mrs. [2441]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

We were so glad that you could have a trip and to visit with your folks in Kentucky and Tennessee. It must have been very unusual to have had the experiences you told about or I should say mention. Such as the transportation which your had been told could not be had and then some would suddenly roll up. Wish I might hear of these experiences.

The lecture was indeed a splendid one and the speaker, C. Jinarajadasa was a most interesting speaker. So very human and not talking over the heads of his audience. He started his lecture telling that when we study History we usually begin with the great wars of the country and then with other countries. For the materialist, war is the natural thing. Just as the brutes of the jungle fight so man, continues as he is but a higher animal. Yet their is the idea of God as a Loving Father. Why does He tolerate wars? Makes things complicated for those called Christians. Perfected men’s high consciousness contacts God’s plan. There is nothing takes place by chance. Who plans? Who is all the time at work? He builds and unbuilds. He is a Builder with a Plan. Our relationship to Him. We are all parts of Him. Jews thought of Him as blasphemer. He used “Ye are Gods” taken from their scriptures yet He was not accepted by them. He told them that God had made man in His own image. And to use the Hindu axiom “That Art Thou”. Then he gave symbol of a great flame leaping up and the tiny flames which are seemingly separated yet if they touch something dry they become a flame by itself. Or take the diamond held in the hand - it is a yellowish crystal yet hidden is its beauty. So the nature of Himself is hidden in us waiting to be released, Truth, Beauty and Goodness. Its message is “Be ye perfect as your Father in Heaven. He brought out the idea that uniformity is not the keynote of nature but all different. Then he goes back to primitive man and asks us if we believe that all the races, cultures, religions were given without God. We had sent Teachers, law-givers, guides which were all a part of His scheme in working towards Perfection. One life of man can’t know perfection nor can a child in one week know his character. There are some souls attached to their animal ancestry and some souls striving to be better. Angel in man comes from God and the devil in man comes from the animal. This is the side of man with its selfishness, domination, fighting and “I want” attitude which the vast majority of mankind is like. And then there is the man whose attitude is one of “I renounce”. Karma is the reaping of the “I want”. This causes suffering. But we must renounce to equalize. And then he says that Hatred ceases not by hatred but by Love. Then down through the ages we find groups working together for righteous causes. The President with his workers and those opponents have been in lives together before. He took up Switzerland then as a nation whose record had been one of helping humanity. As it was here in Switzerland that the Red Cross was born and also the home of the league of nations. Today the letters of prisoners of war go here as a clearing house for mail. German, French and Italian have lived together here. Spirit of “I want” - forces of hatred - fundamentally war is hatred - begins first in the human heart. Little hatreds become big ones. Take social life of today, a kind of subtle competition between the wealthy woman and her poor neighbor. It is cold weather and the wealthy woman is wearing a fur coat while her neighbor looks at her shiveringly. Do you think, he asks, that the poor woman will send the wealthy woman her blessing? Then little hatreds fill the air. They are fostered by our business. Cut throat competition in our advertisement. Same as the war in the jungle. Our cigarettes won’t injure your throat says one company. And the whole attitude of business today is each for himself and let the devil take the hindmost. Tears of the poor undermine the thrones of kings. Revolutions come with undermining of thrones by hatreds. And then he quotes from Longfellow “Though the mills of God grind slowly they grind exceedingly small.” The great adjustor - LOVE IS THE LAW. So we find that these commercial policies drives us to war. England and the U. S. were building up their countries with factories and they had more goods to sell. China had the open door policy but Japan closed that door. Germany were building a navy. And so our commercial life drives us to war. Last war was to keep open markets but we find that this is far more acute today. Business is based on anti-social standards. But the Divine plan had sent teachers to us to learn that Love is the Law and yet we haven’t learned so a new experiment is on hand to awaken man not by his heart but by his pocket. He showed us how through the scientists, the explorers and through communications we have been brought closer together - linking with all - dependent upon others nations, one vast economic scheme the world has become. Loose federation now between Britain and U. S. but who doesn’t remember the Tea Party. Born in the Atlantic Charter is the Anglo-Saxon - Anglo-American federation. He took up India’s need for the unifying that Great Britain had given it through the years. British were brought there to carry on the administration. He says that India would get more by being in the federation of peoples. Then he talked of Russia and said should Britain fail in establishing a model for world federation that an understudy was being prepared in Russia. Russia does not tolerate any racial distinctions. The time is past for individual rulers because the democratic era is here. He told us of the democracy in Australia. Both men and women have the vote. Then he told how Mussolini had been of great good in his early days both to the administration and to the people of Italy until he took up his worldly career. Then he says how will we retain Peace when Peace has come? War is caused by many causes, rivalry of races, color and this creates hatred. White British Empire has gone, equality of color must exist in all places. Our problem in America is the color problem. He told of many instances of cruelty to the colored people in America and how Brazil had solved the problem 54 years ago by freeing 2 1/2 million slaves and gave legal and social equality. It was there first duty to be a Brazalian. They were told that they would be educated and that the color of the skin didn’t matter. Then he took up religion and told how the missionaries had said there was only one Saviour and that they couldn’t accept it. Unless there is a Brotherhood of Religions there will be another war. That there must also be a complete change in the relationship between man and women. He touched upon the sexual experience gained through experiment. And then he said that freedom from fear and want would not come under capital and labor. What we need is World Boards in the new Order of World Organization. Land leased out to people under the direction of world directors and also boards for distribution and production. Today we judge others by their possessions - do they have a bank account, a house? In China the way is if you have 2 loaves sell one and buy a lily, It has a message too. For our own inner world, peace in the individual. We were told to give in our own way so that victory might be won. But we also need new ideas on the question of race, creed, sex, color and caste. A square deal for all nations by changing our ideas. The End.

It was one of the finest lectures I have heard. So glad I took notes so that I might share them with you. Must close now and go to class. I am going to study Human Physiology so that I might become a Healer as you told me in the Reading.

I did so enjoy meeting [2778] [again] and know that the reading [2778-2] was correct in stating that anyone coming into contact with this soul was indeed fortunate. She is so serene and undisturbed amidst all the confusion of the world. She is so beautiful! She told me in her latest letter that you had signed your name to 1700 copies of There Is A River and that you still had several hundred more to do. Are you pleased with the special edition, its cover and the way in which people are responding to it? I am so sorry not to have sent for my copy sooner. No excuse for it but just putting it aside while other things are being done. And I do thank you for sending me a notice to the effect that the publishers will mail me a copy in the special edition. We both shall read it with much interest.

I have joined the Theosophical Society and belong to the … lodge and now am helping them with the mailing list. I am not such a good typist but I try to help. We have had some very fine lectures. You have heard of the Gremlins that the soldier boys or rather the aviators have been seeing on their airplanes. One nite our new president lectured on GREMLINS, FACT OR FANCY? and then Raymond has given some very unusual talks. Sunday he is going to speak on the Occult Building of America. Your life made him think of that title and started him in research for material for this lecture. He probably doesn’t mention you personally but just the same the work you are doing gave him the idea for this lecture.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

We want to thank you for the Christmas Card of “Me Too” sentiments. We liked it very much. In a few words it expressed so much.

And then we have written down our impressions of the book “There is A River.” Both of us have made notes on it and from something Mr. [2462] said I got an idea for a symbolic drawing which I would like you to have. I will tell you about both the drawing and our impressions.

Mr. [2462] says, “A sense of great admiration and respect for him who was imbued with a wonderful power to serve others and never permitted himself to be seduced into any other activity - one gem should certainly be named - constancy. 2. A sense of gratitude that the Lords of Karma should have seen fit to permit us to come into this sphere of enlightenment. (Which of course is shared by Tom Sugrue.) 3. A revival of the urge to do more; study, serve and have self-analysis and inventory. 4. An error was found on page 379 in the spelling of the word “righteousness”. It is now spelled “rigtheousness.” [Not in my dictionary. GD]

My impressions are: The desire to help and especially children seems to be the outstanding impression received, of your life.

The delight in knowing some of the characters makes it an experience I have never had before in this life. And I was impressed by the tremendous amount of material contained in this work. Tom is certainly to be praised for his completion of a work that carried the reader from the actions and reactions of the child through the adolescent period with its struggles, through young manhood with its trials and the experiences through which much was gained not only of the character of human nature met with in the many individuals but the knowledge gained from the material which came from you while in trance.

It would be interesting now to read you life Readings to see if they indicate the period of history and the place where you gained in this power. After having finished the book I opened to a place in Mrs. Besant’s book entitled “Man and His Bodies.” It gives this regarding those who practice Hatha Yoga and I believe that you some time in some life must have gone through the discipline she mentions. “They brought the sympathetic nervous system under the control of the will by long and painful practice with the object of stimulating the lower psychic faculties. They learned to control their breathing, even to the point of suspension for a considerable period, to control the beating of their hearts, quickening or retarding the circulation at will, and by these means to throw the physical body into a trance and set free the astral body. It shows us of the West how thoroughly a man can bring under his control these normally automatic physical processes, and to realize that thousands of men impose on themselves a long and exquisitely painful discipline in order to set themselves free from the prison-house of the physical body, and to know that they live when the animation of the body is suspended.” That is all that she gives on trance in this book. What do you think of her explanation?

Mr. [2462] gave me the idea for the painting by saying that “From the man, to his family and the group and then finally the association has grown this thing.”

Immediately I thought of a picture for the association at the beach. Interpreted it may mean this:

The Sense of UNITY, of the many within the One. or THE ONE becomes of Many. or Where each part is perceived as a pure projection from the Universal Light, a reflection of the Plan in its aspect of the Whole.

The ultimate physical atom is heart shaped, the lines of force go in at the top (depression) and out at the point at the bottom (seen clairvoyantly by C. W. Leadbeater and Mrs. A. Besant in the book “Occult Chemistry”.

Colors used correspond to those of the colours of pranas “The violet-blue ray flashes upwards to the throat, where it seems to divide itself, the light-blue remaining to course through and quicken the throat-centre, while the dark blue and vilet [violet?] pass on into the brain. The yellow ray is directed to the heart, but after doing its work there part of it also passes on to the brain and permeates it, directing itself principally to the twelve-petalled flower in the midst of the highest force-centers.

The Rose-Ray runs all over the body along the nerves, and is clearly the life of the nervous system. This vitality is indeed the food of the etheric double, and is just as necessary to it as is material sustenance to the grosser part of the physical body.” The Chakras by C. W. Leadbeater.

More interpretations are, Notice how you may be the heart in the centre and then the four hearts are those of you family or those four who may have been very close to you through the years. Then they are in turn linked with other hearts and form the Unity of the Group. We have aline in the Arcane School which reads, “At the centre of all Love I stand and from that centre, I the Soul, will outward move.”

So the reaction to the reading of the book has been given in word and in the painting. I hope to pass my copy around to more friends.

And so here is to the happiest year you have every had, strength, joy in the service that you have rendered throughout the years and a peace that passeth understanding that you did it all in His name and for His sake.

Thanks so much for yours of the 29th - and the comments on the book. Appreciate your thought of me regard the drawing - will be happy to have same, and look forward to having same with much interest - be interesting to see the impression ones life makes on another.

Like the impression as Mr. [2462] had or expressed - just hope I may keep the faith - know this will be a testing time for me, and will meet the prayers of all lest I get the “BIG HEAD” or something worse.

One persons comment today impressed me - some one who has known the work for some time, he says - “My first impression is the book, while quite large would needs be much larger to contain even a small percentage of the records of cases in which you have helped your fellow man”.

That is my whole purpose - if I know any thing - HELP OTHERS to find the GOD in themselves.

Haven’t you every read my life reading - will try and hunt you up a copy, yes tells most of it.

Yes - think you will find the periods suggested where much meditation and discipline was used.

Can only say thank you for your comments - pray for me that I may keep in the strait and narrow, appreciate your passing your book around. H. L. may write you on the use of same for the regular edition of the book as will be out next month some time.

R14. 1/15/43 Raymond McDermott’s letter to Mrs. [2441]: [in re chart he made of EC’s grandson, Charles-Thomas Taylor Cayce]

Zelienople, Pa.

Dear [2441]:

Enclosed please find my interpretation of the Horoscope of the young Cayce. Carelessly, I failed to ask you for the address. Please send it on to the proper addressee.

This is one of the most remarkable charts I have ever seen. I would like to be around forty years from now to see how it works out. However, it might be a little overwhelming to the parents, for in the wonder of the new baby they might find it difficult to attain the detached view of his very natural human failings.

Now, for the price of the Reading. In actual expenditures of stamps, paper, ephemers it costs just a few cents short of a dollar. That, of course, cannot include the nebulous value of my years of study, and the expenses incurred studying astrology during the years. Also, it puts no value on the twenty hours of hard work devoted to preparing this reading. The professionals would charge a very large fee for this enclosure. But, my ideals of professional astrologer have not yet been reached; I do not wish to charge the big professional fee until I have reached my own goal of accuracy. So, I cannot in conscience ask the professional amounts. Still, I have stated the amount of actual money it cost me, and indicated the less concrete charges. I would like, at least, to be reimbursed for what I took out of my pocket - one dollar. If the spirit and the bank account move to give me more than that I shall be very grateful.

An interesting detail is that the child’s birth chart has very little affinity with Mr. Cayce’s; whereas his inner charts are very harmonious with Mr. Cayce’s birth chart. Presumably, Mr. Cayce will not be long in the child’s physical world, whereas his interior influence will last a long time.

I regret being unable to go over the typed copy, and correct the typographical errors; that would be a physical impossibility; and it would be almost as difficult to write it first in braille, then type from that - for it would take about seventy-five hours to have made the braille copy. The only compensation I can offer for poor typing is that there is not copy of the Reading save the one enclosed. If there is anything undesirable in it, then nobody will ever know from my files.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Monday evening when I came home from class in Physiology I started you a letter and didn’t finish it. Since you gave me the Mental Spiritual reading I came to the conclusion that if I am to heal that I had better find out what man is composed of. So I signed up for a class at the University of Pittsburgh. I have withdrawn all prejudice against doctors when I know the complexity of the physical body and its working, not to say anything regarding the emotions and the mind of man. Really, the marvel of it is that they acomplish as much as they do in trying to regenerate man. Then too, in studying healing, karma, which has been set in motion some lives ago is effecting man. This is what I am interested in - what caused what disease? Can a general statement regarding say, Cancer, be made? Or are the variations in man so great that each case must be dealt with individually? Have all people with cancer set in motion the same cause producing the result, cancer? Do you know what I mean? Or must each case be dealt with as a specific problem and not one of generalizations?

During the daytime while I am working around the house or perhaps as I am studying I’ll often think either of you or what you have given me in my readings and I wonder if the contact you feel with me is a form of telepathy existing between us? I told Raymond what you had said in your letter and he said that it sounded like “astral memory” -, the emotions once experienced now coming from the memory, I suppose is what he meant. But anyway one of the powers of the soul is telepathy, and we both are interested in healing so that makes a link not to say about our harmony when being together. I told [2520] that I just liked being near you. And if you recall when I was at the beach I always sat close by. You are so peaceful to sit beside!

I am sending you a copy of Raymond’s Purpose of War which he gave to a group one evening in … He had copies made of it and I believe that you will enjoy it. The 21st of February he is going to lecture on “Prophecies of the Immediate Future.” This promises to be of interest because I like advance ideas.

Mrs. [808] wrote and said how much she liked the emblem and that the interpretation which I gave her regarding it as I saw it was so much like her life reading and that she would like me to read it. She is going to send you a copy of my interpretation of her emblem and I am interested to know what you think of it. She said it sounded like her life reading so now we begin to teach alike, you and I. Another reason for feeling oneness.

What has become of [2072]‘s? I wrote to [2072] before Christmas and had a lovely card from them then but haven’t heard since. You keep in touch with “all your children” so I know that you will know about them.

Dear Mrs. [2441]:

What a real pleasure to have a line from you what makes me so crazy about you? Maybe that doesn’t sound so very nice - or is what should admit any way, but best describes it after all.

What became of the letter you started and I didn’t get. So you are studying the complexities of the physical body are you - you should join with a little lady who was her this morning, she [2175] is doing the same thing. Began with her interest in the readings on the glands. She too was a nurse once to John the Baptist [See 2175-1]. Possibly had pretty fair idea so far as the knowledge went in those days, which was in some respects better maybe than we have today, diet and etc. any way. Yes, have has some very interesting data on the cause of many diseases - Cancer - have had many readings on that one very recently as related to Biodine [Biotin] [See 659-1], and its use in such. Some are specifics in themselves but most become peculiar to the individuals, as do individuals habits, but the same laws have been set in motion as brings any individual disease, but its relation to the individual may be peculiarly its own.

Isn’t saying any thing but possibly you will get what I mean. Yes - think there is a real sympathy between individuals, and there is a telepathic communication often set up. “All being of one mind” doesn’t mean all think alike - but the Ideal and purpose pure and in accord with Divine law makes a unity of mind in being able to do things, think things, whether it comes from “astral memory” or what have you. It really means being of one mind. Mighty nice to have you near - there are those who some way seem to lend power when near - that I think is also being of One Mind, for mind is like the current from the Dinamo [Dynamo], and may be boosted by such in accord in purpose of pure spirit of good - which is saying adhering to the Mind of God.

Thanks for the copy of the copy - The Purpose of War - haven’t had chance to read it of course - will and will let you know what think of it. Would like copy of the next one also - “Prophecies of the Immediate Future”.

Yes - Mrs. [808] sent me a copy of the interpretation of her emblem - it was beautiful as told her, now will have to make a special trip to … to see the drawing - but know it is beautiful. She is such a dear think lots of she and [2784].

Heard from [2072] just day or so ago, didn’t see them the last time they came to Norfolk, had so much sickness here about haven’t been able to get any where, see any one or any thing. When came back from N.Y. the 25th of Jan. found Miss Gladys abed with the Mumps and Complications delayed readings for a week. Then she began to try and come to the periods for the readings, but couldn’t transcribe them - believe that is worse than not getting them. She is just getting back to her stride. Now Mrs. Cayce is having a bad spell with her eye, has been very ill for several days now - is some better today, and the younger boy and his wife have been home for last week, leaves in the morning - and guess that means foreign service - so you know what that does to her nerves with the condition she is already in - and there are others. All in all am about on the griddle just now - but the Book comes out the 5th of Mar. - then it will be off the griddle into the fire by the time they get through raking me over the coals.

I would appreciate it if you would write some notes for me on the book directing the attention of Rosicrucians, Theosophists, Spiritualists or other new thought groups to special sections of the book which would particularly appeal to them. I plan to mineograph such notes and send them to members who are in a position to talk before groups in various cities.

You know the language and best approach to such minds and you can help me a great deal in this matter. I realize that anyone making a talk before many of us, say Spiritualists or Rosicrucian groups would have to emphasize different sections of the book and different phases of philosophy which is printed.

Each time hear from you, some how you endear your self to me it seems. Thank you for the lovely remembrance at my birthday, may I only be able to at least partially fulfill all the nice things you say and imply for me.

Sometimes feel am the most fortunate person in the world to have so many lovely, lovely, friends. Just hope my ego doesn’t get the best of me, had wrather lean over backwards the other way if any thing. And while the reviewers are not all very kind to me, or the book and not all nice to Tom, do feel that their even paying any attention to the book is a good sign, and the way many of the Religious publications are going about their reviews reminds me a lot of the vision had some months ago, think have told you about it, - if haven’t will some time soon hope when see you.

One of the more important ones are coming here to see me the week of the 28th, and will write same her, will at least have a sympathetic hearing to say the least.

Thanks again - more that I have words to say, but do appreciate it. All just fair here - do wish you could see our grandson [“Tommy”] [Charles-Thomas Taylor Cayce], know you would love him. Would be fun to watch him size you up - as he does every one whom he meets. One can almost see him think as he looks at strangers.

Thanks for yours of the 19th - you know will be very glad to make an appointment for Mrs. [3004]. If she really wishes the appointment she had better set the time pretty soon, for the requests are coming in so fast am nearly up that far already. Really don’t know quite what to do about the - what would you suggest, and as for the price, as you know that is not nearly so important as the desire for the help and being ready for same.

Have through the years found many who had been taking [Yoga] exercises of one kind and another, and gotten all mixed up many ways - physically as well as others. Believe a line that I wrote in some ones book fits in here very well - God help me to find and work in the field in which I am best fitted -

Would have to give the reading on Sunday afternoon if it is to be made on a Sunday. Have to meet with my class of Sunday morning, that is set - so have to keep that appointment unless too ill or out of town.

The best train for Norfolk leaves Washington D.C. about 6 A.M. arrives in Norfolk at 10.30 A.M. Yes there are many hotels open - we suggest the Essex House because it is convenient here to our place, and the people there are very nice to those who are coming to see us here.

Thanks will be glad to get the “Prophecies of the Immediate Future” when practical. Do you wish to do any more of the Seals for people? I dislike to tell people to write you for feel it is an imposition unless they pay you for their time. Understand too Hugh Lynn has written you for to do some work on the book isn’t it or just what. But several people have asked me about getting their seals painted - drawn - or what have you. Know Mrs. [808] is pleased and crazy about hers you did for her. Do hope you stop and see them. They are such a lovely couple, and have such a beautiful home, and know both would be so pleased to have you. All are up and on the go again, all about have to with from 25 to 100 letters each day to be answered. Certainly keeps me humping. Do enjoy your letters so much, and hope we may hear from you again, and tell Mrs. [3004] she better make the appointment very definite - but will have to be in afternoon can’t be in morning. Wish was enough of an artist to draw you a picture of just how much my face fell when read yours of the 24th [saying she could not take part in the Congress program as he had requested]. Am very sorry you are not feeling so good, but sure am disappointed beyond any thing can describe to you. Just hope you have not been overdoing yourself.

Well don’t know just how am going to get along without you - but guess if we must we must, but sure will miss you. Just had so counted on you as my main stay with H. L. being away everything will fall on me I guess save what could delegate to some good soul like yourself - and now what must I do, just tell me that and will forgive you.

If not too much of course will be glad to have the pictures and then you tell me who to persuade to handle it and we will try, but really could just have a good cry.

But please pardon me. You know would be the last one in the world wanting you, to over do yourself in any way, for have a fellow feeling just now for those that are going the limit

I am so sorry to have caused you so much disappointment. I would not hurt you in any way, shape or manner. You have grown very dear to me in our association and I only hope that in some way I may repay you all you have done for me…

I am enclosing under separate cover the aura chart [294-206] as a surprise for you. It has been a long time in the making but at last it is finished. Also the two paintings which I would suggest using the same day as the reading of the auras. The colors and the idea came from reading Mr. Leadbeaters book, “Man, Visible and Invisible” in which he describes the colors of the emotional body, when these various emotions play through it. The description of the pictures are in this letter and I have thought of both Mrs. [1100] and Mrs. [2072] as possible readers for explaining the paintings. As for the aura chart You are the best one for interpreting it.

Mrs. [2441] enclosed this message to the Congress with her letter to Edgar Cayce, since she could not come in person:

A Message to the Annual Congress of The Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

All down through the ages, man has had an emotional body through which has surged the two forces of emotion, Love and Hate. We find that the Love-emotion is the attractive, radiating, unifying force while the Hate-emotion repulses, isolates and causes separation. From these two, Love and Hate we find that the Love-emotion towards superiors is expressed as Respect, Reverence and Worship; Love-emotion towards an equal is expressed as Politeness, Friendship and toward an inferior as Kindness, Tenderness and Pity.

That the Hate-emotion is shown forth toward superiors as Apprehension, Fear or Terror, Paralyzing Horror. Toward one’s equal the Hate-emotion may show forth as Reserve, Rudeness leading to Anger, Enmity, Hostility or Rage and towards an inferior the emotion of hate takes the form of Superciliousness, Scorn, Contempt, Disdain, Ruthless attempts to destroy.

The two pictures are attempts to show that we may deliberately build a wall of separateness when the black of hatred and malice, the grey of depression and fear, the deep red of anger, the lurid red of sensuality, the dull brown-red of greed, the dull brown-grey of selfishness, the greenish- brown of jealousy, the grey-green of deceit and cunning, the grey-blue of religious feeling tinged with fear or the orange of pride are allowed to show forth in our emotional bodies.

All the while enclosing the attractive colors of high spirituality which shows forth as a lilac blue, the blue of devotion, the yellow of highest intellect, the light rose of love for humanity, high unselfish affection, the blue-green of sympathy and compassion and the green of adaptability which the Real Self tries to radiate from its center.

The other picture tries to depict the Real Self radiating out to all humanity, love, a feeling of oneness and an understanding of all things. Gone is the prison of fear and isolation and limitations and in its place the world of radiation, continuing until every living emanation is passing through, blending with and mingling with every other emanation - until nothing is any more separate! A return to the oneness of all things. It is this lesson which humanity is struggling to learn or alternatively fighting against, a lesson opposed to many of its ingrained thought-habits. It is the lesson of unfocused universal love, a love which does not differentiate or prefer. The study of radiation, even of the grand cosmic radiations which link up every star with every other star; all are pointing to the UNITY OF LIFE! I can’t even remember if they were even discussed at the busy June 1943 Congress!]

R25. 8/20/43 EC’s letter to Mrs. [2441]:

Thanks very much for yours of the 16th. Just had a note from Mrs. [1100]. Makes me feel safer some how when hear from you two, and hared to separate you in ones mind some how. Sure good tho to hear from you. We are doing pretty well, guess are busy very busy. Have been able to get a little help some one to handle most of my letters and had to have two to help Miss Gladys but she had gotten so far behind had to have help, but hope all is going pretty good just now. Took a few days off near the 1st went off by myself for a couple of days. Does one good to renew their promises and contact with the powers that be, feeling very good for me and keeping out of mischief I hope.

Hope to have the Congress booklet ready now pretty soon, some of the girls that are visiting the beach who are members are helping this into shape. Everyone so far behind, haven’t had chance to work on it but think it will be ready to run by the week, and should be sent out next week. Think you will find some things that are not bad.

Yes - would have been all out hadn’t every one helped out. Think you will be able to see it in the report.

My - what so many people are having to experience just now seems more than one can bear, have some such lovely, and some such sad letters from all over. My there are so many these days, can’t remember half of them. Must be doing some good from the reports from many of them, hope so as that is the purpose of it all. Help if possible.

Looking for H. L.’s boy [Tommy] home tomorrow. He and his Mother have been in N.C. for three weeks, say he is fine. Sure have missed him, can about walk now. The other Grandson Edgar Evans Jr.] is growing fast but is only about seven weeks old now but is cute as he can be. One of the boys [Edgar Evans] is over seas - hasn’t seen his boy. H. L. is still at camp Meade but expects to be sent out very soon, no telling where. Well if Mr. [2462] does have to go, hope you will still consider coming to the Beach, need you very very badly, and hope can make it pleasant for you round here.

At Home Dear Mr. Cayce,

Just a note to thank you for the Congress Bulletin, and to enclose some money for it. It is well organized. Some one or many have been working hard and they deserve lots of credit.

And another thing, if you get a reading cancelled would you try to give one to Mrs. [5101] of … She is rather discouraged and wonders if you could help her to find her rightful place.

I know from what [2778] said last week about the readings that you are engaged until next summer. Strange to think that when I first knew of you I told Mrs. [5101] about you and now when you have so many readings ahead she feels that you could help her. I believe it is the reaction from reading the article in Coronet.

Much strength be given thee to endure all.

Dear Mrs. [2441]:

Thanks a lot for yours of the 21st. Maybe it is a good thing you don’t write very often, for when ever hear from you, get the feeling just have to see you and talk with you, hope it won’t be long before you can get down and see us. Sure need that planning head of yours to help out with the problems. Believe you even would be surprised at the way things are going here, never was so busy in all my life.

Please have Mrs. [5101] to get in her application, and will do best we can. The people that come here tho and wait and wait for a change [chance] feel sorry for them. A man from Lima O. came today a week ago and had thought possible he could have this afternoon, as the person who had the period had three other periods and had not shown up for them - but she walked in yesterday afternoon, and here he had waited until this morning and had to tell him the sad story. Now his period is some time next summer.

Please don’t tell me not to answer your letter, for when hear from those we love and feel they have an interest in out [our] feeble efforts that we get strength, so just had to tell you thank you. Glad you like the Congress booklet, only hope you will help make the next one.

Dear Mrs. [2441]:

Don’t know when was made any happier than to have yours of the 14th telling me you would be with us at the Congress this year. Please come early and stay late. My will be so good to see you again. Yes have had many changes here about but think you will like most of it.

Glad Mrs. [2520] will be coming also. Wish you might bring your husband along would like to know him. Glad for you that he will not be taken into the armed forces if that is what he wishes. Have learned by experience just how anxious one can get about those we love so that are in the armed forces, feel sorry for these boys being separated from their sons. We have two darling Grandsons, think you will like them.

Will be a nice trip and a very short one if you are able to fly down, and should think it will be fine. May get stuck in Washington yet will be taken care of and only a short delay for the come from there several times a day.

Sounds good what Mr. [2462] has been doing. Am wrather a stickler for a pretty lawn. One here is gradually getting in very good shape. Haven’t done much with garden made such a mess of it last year didn’t try for just can’t look after it.

My will be good to see you again, be looking for you with lots of love from all to you both

Dear Mrs. [2441]:

Thanks very much for yours of the 21st. I appreciate very much, your thought of me, for I certainly have not been in very good working order since Congress. I am like some old worn out man.

As long as I was going, I would feel well, but when I thought I needed rest and stopped, I got worse and worse, until I am about to play out.

Some days I feel fairly well - others, no good at all. I just hope that I can be able, though, very soon to carry on, if I have a job to do.

I am sure I will only be able to do it by and through the prayers of those who think something of me, and whom I have tried to be of help to.

Dear Gladys,

Thank you so kindly for sending me the word of Mr. Cayce’s death.

I have tried to think of how I might help you who worked closest and knew him best. Something to help you understand the plan God has for man even after the CHANGE we call “death” has taken place.

I have found this small booklet [C. W. Leadbeater’s booklet, TO THOSE WHO MOURN.] contains the answer which satisfies me and which I hope will fill your need right now.

With every true wish for your guidance in the future and in appreciation of your most loving and loyal service to the One we know as Friend, Helper and Loved One.
