This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of August, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2441], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. The infectious forces irritate very much the lower limbs and portions of the body and arms.

4. We would apply Ray’s solution.

5. We would take internally small doses of Atomidine, to assist in purifying the system; one drop in half a glass of water each morning before any meal is taken, for a period of eight to ten days.

6. Also we would take a good eliminant for flushing the system from the poisons and accumulations that naturally come with an irritation in the superficial circulation.

7. Those properties in the diet and the applications which have been taken for the allaying of those tendencies we would keep. Also we would apply Castor Oil Packs over the caecum AND the gall duct or lacteal duct area, periodically; at least an hour each day for four days in succession, then a rest period of a week, and make the applications again - for at least three or four such rounds.

8. And we will find bettered conditions throughout the body.

9. Ready for questions.

10. (Q) Should all applications indicated in previous Reading be continued? (A) All should be continued, as indicated. The only changes would be those as suggested here; purifying the glandular forces of the body, which will be most helpful.

11. (Q) Considering my physical condition, when now would it be advisable for conception to take place, or should I wait? (A) This as we find should take place now as soon as there is the clearing of the system in its normal manner.

I want to thank you for giving me a reading and so soon! And I do appreciate the bottle of Ray’s Solution. Have written to Roanoke, Va. for a large bottle of it as we have quite a bit of poison ivy around our house. I haven’t heard from Atomidine Company yet.

Just know that you had a fine visit with the Dillmans. They are such grand people.

And now a question - Do you think that in having a child I should be able to give to humanity as much service such as painting, teaching - my desire is to serve yet there is always that thought that perhaps bringing into the world an entity may be of more value than any contributions I might be able to make. Perhaps this would be a good question for a mental reading but I wondered what you thought about it.

Dear Mrs. [2441]:

Thanks for yours of the 4th. Hope you are entirely free from the poison Ivy and have gotten all straight in your new home, and like it more and more each day. Am sure you will hear from the Atomidine Co., or we may have it sent from [to] you from here, if you don’t.

Yes, certainly enjoyed the Dillmans, nice to think they will pretty soon be calling this home, even tho they are all about the country. They selected a very nice little place here. We all spoke of you and wished for you many times. Your questions, is quite a weighty one, but from all sources to me it appears that Motherhood is the highest honor there can be in this material world, and with one who has the understanding, the attraction would be for a soul who would play a real part in the affairs of the world at this time. And am sure you have that understanding and the ability to train and guide one in the direction to fill that office at this time. Yes, would be an excellent question for the Mental and Spiritual reading, but know the information has given often just as I said above, “Motherhood is the highest honor any one may achieve.”

R3. 9/21/41 (Sunday Afternoon At Home) Mrs. [2441]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I don’t know whether you could feel how close I was to you this week but we, Mr. [2462] and I almost came down to the beach this week. Finances kept us here, but the desire was so strong that I am sure that you must have felt it.

And now to tell you something unusual. I have never received either the Atomidine nor the Ray’s Solution but my poison ivy was gone a short time after I received and applied the Ray’s Solution which you sent me from the beach. I can’t understand not hearing from either company but the part that amazes me is the fact with out any medicine so to speak I became well. How much does that bottle which you sent me cost? I should like to pay for it.

I have been getting my house fixed up, cleaning the windows and putting up the curtains. But mostly been occupied getting out 135 letters concerning Flower Newhouses’ lectures here. She is to be in … September 25 and October 15. Just wish that you and Mrs. [1100] might be here. I should like to have you all at my house. Have you ever thought of coming to … Perhaps I can convince you to come here if I can’t get to the beach. We certainly would love to have you at any time. Wish that you might bring Mrs. Cayce with you. Think it over. It’s so beautiful here with the oak trees, tulip, dogwood, sassafras and others around our home. The days have been perfect and the sunsets most inspiring. We have so many windows that we get light all day long. But I suppose with the wedding coming along now that you wouldn’t consider coming here to hear Flower Newhouse in October. I certainly wish Hugh Lynn every happiness. If he is as happy as we are he can’t ask for more.

And isn’t the news splendid about the Dillmans buying a farm and a home too! I am so delighted to know that they are to be more settled. Altho’ I suppose Mr. Dillman will have to still travel.

And now for the archetype. It is certainly one of the loveliest readings [294-204] that has been given. I do appreciate your sending me a copy of it. It is so very explicit about each and every symbol used. Nancy Lansdale must have very unusual powers to be able to put so much into her work. I especially liked the part about the “stars” indicating that their formation into centers may become as a nucleus about which there may be the formation of ideas or ideals. I can’t understand why the central portion of the pink heart figures should be the beautiful part here and yet show the weakness. To me, you have no weakness and I can’t believe it. Not such an one who will lay down his life for others as you do daily. It just can’t be. That was the part that made such an appeal to me the very first time I heard a reading. I sobbed so and couldn’t stop to see you and to realize that your life is so dedicated and mine so wasted.

I am indeed fortunate to be honored to know such a Christlike person. That week at the beach with you is lived over and over again. Such memories make life complete!

R4. 9/25/41 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. [2441]:

Dear Mrs. [2441]:

Thanks for yours of the 21st. Certainly does one good to have such a lovely letter from some one they think so much of. Yes, think I must have felt the desire for the visit to the Beach, that is possibly why dreamed of you and Mr. [2462] - now wondering if he looks any thing like he looked in my dream.

Don’t understand your not hearing from the Atomidine Co. or from Roanoke for each of these have always been so prompt in sending out orders to those who have told them it was suggested from here. But, am happy to know the Poison Ivy had all disappeared. No, you owe me nothing for the sample bottle sent you - was one sent me to read on and see if the combination was one that would be effective in such cases, but am glad it helped. Know from personal experiences what a torment such can be. Am sure you will hear, and will then have it for future uses if needs be.

Guess you are kept quite busy, or you would keep busy am sure. Nice tho to get one’s house fixed up like they like; have had lots of fun getting the bathroom fixed here for the offices and especially my side of the room where take the - or make preparation for each reading - certainly feel lots better about it, whether just imagination or not.

Certainly would like to hear Mrs. Newhouse, have several of her books sent me by a friend of hers and ours, Mrs. Chandler of N.Y. But there is so much stir here about

• Did I tell you? Hugh Lynn is getting married the 10th of Oct. - marries a Miss Taylor - you may have met her - she was at the Congress meet. Is quite a surprise to Mrs. Cayce and I, but she is such a lovely girl - are happy to have her in the family. She was a schoolteacher, lives at Stoval, N.C., taught in High School at Newbern, N.C. last two years. They will live at the Beach home until Jan., then they will take the Dillman house for a while at least.

Certainly appreciate the invitation - and hope to be able to take you up on same some time.

Did I send or Miss [288] sent you a copy of her reading - when the information gave her Aura chart [288-50] - it calls it. Would like to see you draw that. Thank you, glad my weaknesses don’t show so easily, very kind of you to be so generous, but assure you, have plenty of faults.

Will have to tell you about an experience few days ago. Hadn’t been feeling so good and was lying down. Felt others were tuning in to help me as it was time for a reading. Got up, looked at the clock, saw it was just the time - lay back down feeling very sorry for myself at doing just as you say giving up myself daily for others - sorter wondering what it was all about; when suddenly I heard the voice haven’t heard so distinctly since she was quite young. Consciously it said “Get up, give the reading! Don’t you wish to keep on giving readings? Well, get up! Give the reading!” and did I hustle up from there! O yes, was well again, every one about were as much astonished as I. So it is as little as I can do for My Lord if can tell or manifest His love for others through the readings. May His Love keep me just the way should for such a service.

Do hope Mr. [2577] continues on the improve. Yes, through out the years people have said it can’t be done, and I know of my self it cannot, yet we have continued to do it day by day now for over 40 years. A force as may work through each of us, yea of us, yet much greater than ourselves, a fulfilling of the promises of our God through Jesus the Christ.

Good to hear Mr. [2453] is on the improve. Am happy for them, and all praise to HIM, the very best help he may give himself, is to tell some one else of what it has done for him, and that is too just as HE promised it would be. No, never heard any thing from the lady - wrote her, sent her data as you suggested. Told her you had made it possible for her to have it if she wishes it, but no word as yet; only as we take hold, use that in hand may we have HIS love we are not always ready to accept that as is good. But, question until we lose that as might have helped.

Will ask Miss Gladys to send you a copy of my own life reading [294-8; 294-19] if there is a copy available. Thanks again for every thing, just hope all is well - know you are busy.

R5. 10/13/41 (Monday At Home) Mrs. [2441]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I began the heading last week and haven’t gotten back to it until this very minute, and then to ask you to do something for us. [2462] has some poison ivy and we wondered if you have any more of those sample bottles of Ray’s Solution. And then will you check with the address given on my letter to the Ray Chemical Company. This is the one I have written twice to and it is always returned unclaimed.

I did receive a reply from the Atomidine Co. and they also sent me the Atomidine. Because of circumstances they had no control over they hadn’t written to me before. They said, “that Mr. Cayce has long been a true friend of Atomidine and we feel happy indeed that he has placed his endorsement of it with you.”

Now that the wedding is over how is everything going at the beach? I hope that it was a big success and that the two will be very happy and that you and Mrs. Cayce will feel greatly enriched in having a daughter added to your family.

When Flower was here in September she spoke about the Devas and said something about my having come through the Deva evolution. Would you know what she meant. Do you have any material on the Deva Kingdom? I copied some material for [2072] while I was at the beach but don’t seem to find anything more about them. By the way she sent me one of her books called Heaven Lies Within Us by Theos Bernard and the whole thing deals with the Hatha Yoga practices. It speaks of “Purifying” the body through these various yoga practices and it brings to my mind the part of my life reading which has intrigued me since I received it. I have tho’t and tho’t about this part. “Hence in the present, as we would interpret the abilities, - the entity is as a director, a teacher, - yea, the more as a scribe or writer of that which has been and is the purifying needed; in body, in mind, for the attaining of the attunement to the Creative Forces.” Surely this does not mean that I should write about Hatha Yoga practices which purify the body. There must be more beauty in some other writings regarding Purification.

And now have you heard from Mrs. [1100]. I haven’t for so long that I wonder what has become of her. You know Wednesday night is our meeting with Flower and her husband Lawrence. I had invited [1100] to come here but I have had no word from her. Was she at the wedding? Flower’s talk Wednesday is to be “Exiled on the Planet Earth.” We are holding the meeting in the new Planetarium because of the hotel strike. And the idea is that if they let us use one of their lecture rooms we will have twenty five of our group attend the sky show at nine o’clock. It is entitled “Mystery on Mars.” Isn’t that a strange coincident [coincidence]?

Wish that you might see the beauty of the trees around here. We were in North Park last Sunday and such glorious coloring as the trees were wearing. They have quite a large area in the evergreens and then to come upon a group of bright yellows and the dark rich reds and the light browns and oranges. It surely makes one forget that many men are fighting in other lands when you behold such glory!

R6. 10/17/41 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. [2441]:

Dear [2441]:

Have yours of the 13th - always glad to hear from you. We, of course have had a busy two weeks about here. Tom getting the book finished and off to Fla. and H. L. getting married. And taking time out to go to that wedding, but have never had such in our experience before. And Edgar Evans, the other boy coming to the wedding and having to take him back to camp in S.C. But we are settling down and getting quiet again. The Wedding was very beautiful. Don’t know whether you remember Sally or not, she was at the last Congress. She is a very lovely person, not pretty, but really beautiful in character. I think one of the loveliest dispositions have ever known - was a schoolteacher you know. Nice to think we will have such a lovely daughter.

Am sending the sample bottle of Ivy Cure [Ray’s Solution] this mail. Don’t understand why you haven’t heard from Roanoke. Possibly, if you will write to Miss Mary Wirsing, 1001 3rd St. S.W., Roanoke, Va., her father makes the products, and she, while she works in a Bank is trying to get them going. Write her. Am sure you will hear and get the medicine also.

Glad you heard from the Atomidine Co. - very nice people. A nice long tale about that if you would care to hear it some day.

Sorry to hear Mr. [2462] has the Poison Ivy now. Do hope this will clear it up - is recommended by the information has worked in every case it was sent to. So far H. L. and Sally drove to New Orleans. They spent the day with the Dillmans in Birmingham. They were fine last heard from them. No, there were only members of the immediate families there,

• at the wedding.

No, am not aware that we have data on the Deva Kingdom, possibly have under another name. As is indicated from that part of your reading, you quote from; tho, would not think it would mean that you write about Yoga practices - save as it might apply to Christian principles. You know, this practice that I have adopted of the Ablution before each reading, has within myself made such a difference can well understand, how many would be easily led to believe there was virtue of its self in the practice. Yet, am persuaded the difference is in the purpose in the spirit of the act, not the act. So in your writing could you adapt the practices of Yoga and such to the western mind and practice would be in keeping if I interpret aright, what is meant in your reading. Of course, the Deva Kingdom is the ability to be a Leader-Teacher - make practical tenets, that to the laity are rote, all too often.

Don’t know whether I am explicit enough or not, - this is what am trying to say - to me - illustrated. Some weeks ago, was feeling quite badly physically - was even just lying ‘round feeling sorry for myself. Had an appointment for a reading for some one else, when had about concluded that should forego that and get it for myself. Went into the reading room and was lying down, when felt as if some of my helpers had tuned in for the hour’s work. Got up to see if it was time, saw it, liked [lacked] just five minutes of the time to work. Lay back down, turning over in my mind what sort of excuse could make. When for the first time since was many, many years younger, heard the VOICE - “Get up, get ready and give the reading! Don’t you want to give any more readings? Get up, get to work!” Well, didn’t have to be reminded again, and have been well ever since that moment. Now, you see what I mean, don’t you.

There are so many Yoga practices for purification that hasn’t worked. Mrs. [2072], bless her heart, is suffering right now from the use of some of these in her daily experiences, and is just beginning to get back in shape - physically.

Would like very much to hear Mrs. Newhouse. Mrs. Chandler sent me several of her books - ashamed to say, haven’t read them as yet. Just glanced here and there but know they are lovely, was a lovely place to hold your meetings.

Is it coincidence - that is what one often wonders - Recently had a most unusual experience on the night of the 1st. Was called from Boston on phone. A mother [2425] had been in labor for more than 24 hours - Dr. felt it must be an operation. They asked me to do what I could do to prevent same. Went into meditation at 11 P.M. at 2 A.M. was told all is well. The baby [2607] was born with only the Nurse present, naturally and normally - possibly coincidence, but on the 8th, the mother wrote me, thanking me for what had happened, but telling me there was no food for the little fellow; asked me to do something about it. Again went into meditation and got for her to do certain things and that on the 11th there would be plenty. Wired this to her on the 12th, received this wire: “Thank you, Thank you, there is abundance.” That too may be coincident, but is it? Don’t think you could ever make that family think so, could you?

The trip taking E. E. back to camp was beautiful, but of course, the color is not the forest here as yet as it must be there. There is nothing more beautiful than the colors in nature.

R7. 12/1/42 EC’s letter: “Am anxious to see what you get on Mrs. [2072]‘s seal [2072-4, Par. 54-A], must be lovely - what do you think of the description of the Aura Charts [294-206]?”

R8. 12/23/41 Letter: ”…With this I’ll stop copying passages. You can see from above [below] how fascinating.”

First part of letter was review of book by Vera Stanley Alder, on THE FIFTH DIMENSION and the FUTURE OF MANKIND.

I have found this book on the Fifth Dimension!

I think the descriptions of the Aura charts [294-206] are splendid. They are so detailed! Can’t work on [288] [288-50] yet because I have to do some more research on it.

Surely am glad to know that I’m to see you again in January or February. It has become such a longing! I hope that [2462] will come along. I want you two to meet and also have him see the tremendous task before the Association and the filing material.

Almost a week has passed since I started this letter. Today is our third wedding anniversary! We are spending it quietly in our own home.

Thank you for your fine Christmas message. Sacrifice (will) is needed!

[The] [288-50] chart calls for the following “and about the rings of Saturn would be signs that represent Saturn in its phases of activity.” I cannot find the SIGNS that represent Saturn in its PHASES OF ACTIVITY. Could you suggest a source or the meaning. What signs are meant here? Also, “the indicating of Jupiter’s sign in the Zodiac.” I didn’t know that Jupiter was in the zodiac. What does this mean? (Gemini?) Again “Then above this would be the figure as in the zodiac sign of Mercury, with the Signs of the zodiac about same of Pisces… or the Fish.”

Know a blind man [Raymond McDermott] who has studied much and Mr. [2462] and I told him about you. He reads horoscopes and is interested in knowing yours. Would you be willing to give him your birthdate and birth hour (exact time) so that he might make a chart. If he were not so deaf too, I would suggest that he come to the beach with us. Do you suppose he would get anything from a reading being both deaf and blind?

Dear [2441]:

Thanks for yours of the 23rd - one always feels uplifted with reading one of your letters. Such a sense of appreciation and joy as they radiate - bound to make one feel better, else mighty ashamed of themselves. Am sure you enjoyed taking care of the little angel [babysitting with her godchild], when one thinks of the turmoil as is all about, the fear and anxiety thrown off by people every where, one realizes it is a hardy soul indeed as has sought expression at this time. And quite a nice little problem for the children of light here and now to keep their feet sent on the path of light. Yet, by and through HIM we may succeed and carry on as He would have us do.

Thank you for the reference to the book “The Fifth Dimension and Future of Mankind” [by Vera Alan Stanley]. Haven’t seen it, but am not a good reader at all, and unless some one reviews such for me and tells me of same, guess am just lost

• while the spaces in the Library are gradually filling up in places, most of them have never read, and possibly never will, wish knew something of what is there. But guess my little brain can just hold so much. But, do like the manner this book expresses itself from what you tell me of it - just how to accomplish that - I guess is the question - maybe that is what we will attain to, but there must be some effort of some kind - an application of some rule or order along the way. Yes, that is what happens, am sure, but what to do about it all. Thanks for telling me about it - do hope may see and read it some time.

Like the liking of the activity to photography - get on solid ground there for me, know just what is meant, wonderful illustration of every form of spiritual movement and progress

• for the chemistry of Photography - and the activity as takes places - most any dimension may be explained to the positive mind. For all the terms we know - of Projection - positive, negative, retroactive, retrainer, booster, latent, manifest - all the words that may be used to express activity of the mind - or spirit are part of the vocabulary of photography these I understand from experience in and study of same - factually - as well as practically.

Do hope that Mr. [2462] can and will come down when you do

• am anxious to know him better. Suppose the terminology is all wrong, but think the meaning of [288-50] “signs that represent Saturn in its activity” refer to the signs as indicated in the Almanac as the sign for Saturn or any other of the planets and signs about Saturn would then be the position of the rings of same changing their position as an ellipse about the largest sign.

Of course, the explanation is worse than the original but may give you an idea. Again, as in above, feel it is meant

• Jupiter - the sign there of - with Sign of Gemini about same - indicating the use the Entity made of same at some individual period, may not make sense, but may give you a sensible idea.

The same regards Mercury and Pisces.

Would be glad for your friend [Raymond McDermott] to give me a horoscope reading. The information, I believe - is Mar. 18th, 1877, 3.20 P.M., Long. 87-30, Lat. 36-45, Hopkinsville, Ky. Would like to see a copy if might, as you can imagine have seen quite a number of these and very few agree one with the other.

Do not know how much your friend might gain being deaf and blind - yet might get much being in the room and possibly his hand on me during the time of reading - have had instantaneous healings at such times.

Dear Mrs. [2441]:

Thank you so much for yours of the 12th and especially for the prayer of Mrs. Newhouse - it is beautiful. Thanks again and again for letting me know of this.

Don’t know, something just came over me the other day. Felt as if just had to say something to all if possible. Sat down to the typewriter, and that letter came out [1/8/42 Letter [see 281-59] - mentioned in ltr. of 1/14/42 under 2678-1, Par. B1.] - has been amazing to me. Will soon take the reading [281-60] and send out what ever we obtain. Trust may be the means of being of real help to many along the way.

R11. 1/28/42 Mrs. [2441]‘s ltr. to EC:

We know, O Lord of life and Love about the need. Touch our hearts anew with Love, that we too, may love and serve.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Today I would tell you of the blind friend Raymond McDermott. He is a very big man, larger than any of the men at the conference last year. (Have been reading in The Science of the Initiates that over-active or hyperpituitary causes gigantism). He is in fact a veritable giant not only in stature but in mentality. He came to visit in our home and to hear about you before he would do your horoscope. He said that an astrologer usually waits until after making a chart to hear about the person but my impressions and his would neutralize the impressions. Being blind he could not see our home as we see it but he described it very well. Took up various items. And dealt with them. Then I read to him the complete Egyptian story of Ra-Ta. That was on last Friday and yesterday he sent me a copy of your chart. It had an exhilarating effect on me as I read it. Here it is:

He says, “I feel that the accuracy of his powers as pertaining to this life are amply demonstrated. As a student of the occult as one who has somewhat studied the astronomical significance of the position of the Great Pyramid, I unqualifiedly reject the date of its construction as 10,000 B.C or thereabouts. That is the only thing in all that you read me that I cannot accept.” In the actual horoscope, I was interested to note that the symbol, according to the system of Charubel (this Charubel was a psychic like Mr. Cayce; he would go into a trance, and tell the symbols of the various degrees of the Zodiac) is “a large undershot waterwheel”, this denotes one who will be a leading character in some great movement, or the founder of some society or school of philosophy.

It is curious how the planet Uranus hovers just beyond his ascendent; retrograde at birth, it is now moving forward, but will not reach the ascendent in this lifetime. Now, Uranus is the planet of Occultism, of voluntarily directed evolution, and of spiritual initiation. The Ascendent is the personal life. In other words, the true occultism hovers around the edges of his personal experience But does not quite enter his life in its full force.

I consider this a horoscope of Momentum. The gathering fruits of many lives have now come to fruition; he is full in the midst of these fruits - psychic faculty, - but it is all the momentum of the past, brought to his present realization by the current of past efforts. I search diligently for the evidence of new force being generated, of new power being developed for further spiritual momentum or speed: and I do not find them. The Influence of Will, of self-directed effort, of voluntary and consciously stimulated growth; that growth is not there. His Sun, which shows the spiritual Will and the spiritual urge to grow: his Sun could hardly be weaker. Like a millionaire living off his capital, he seems to be doing little for his own future Spiritual unfoldment. Oh, he is creating a lot of good Karma, his future will be full of help from others, but I cannot find the significant spiritual emblems of self-generated effort. All this, mind you, has not the least bearing on the truthfulness or actuality of his powers. I am merely impressed by this curious fact of weakness in the department of the future.

When I first studied his chart I thought what a shame that he was not born thirty minutes earlier, for then the House of Psychic Forces from the past would be fully tenated. But that would have shown the source of his powers to be of the subconscious mind - of the Physical Permanent Atom as occultists would say.

Instead, the bulk of psychic significators are in either the House of the Higher Self, or in the House of the Higher Mind. To me, that fact vies in remarkableness with the amazing weakness of his Sun.

If astrology means anything, then there can be no question that this man had an extraordinary life in ancient lives, and must have made unusual progress.

The Dragon’s Head, which is the point bringing influence from the past is on the degree of humility, reverence, deference; and in the Sign Pisces, in the Seventh House, suggests priestly positions in the past. Now this influence stimulates the mental planet Mercury which is on the picture making degree of Pisces: mental pictures of the past. The closeness of Mercury to Saturn shows that the pictures are definite rather than just fantastic imagery. Venus is in the Sign of its Exaltation; that shows the soul to be striving along the great Path of Universal Love; the curious nearness of Saturn puzzles me, ordinarily it would bring personal considerations into the love, limited the love to the purely immediate and visible, giving a touch of value

• received kind of love; I say this puzzles me, for it seems contraindicated elsewhere. Besides, Venus is in the great position of the path of the world-mother, servant of the feminine side of existence; of Isis, of the Virgin Mary, of the Chinese Quan Yin, the German Fau Minne, etc.

Another strong planet is Mars, being in the Sign of its Exaltation, and the House of the Past. It is in a very practical position, in good aspect to the moon in a very practical sign. Although there is undeniable psychism in this chart, there is also the practicality to make sound use of it. Exalted Mars shows Right Action, Right Livelihood. Another strong planet or Influence - is the moon; it, too is in the Sign of its Exaltation. If I remember rightly, this is connected with the Fire - Religion of old Persia. Exalted planets show the path of occult and mystical development in former times. Most people are puffed up with just one such indicator of ancient achievements. Here this gentleman has Three. Verily, antiquity rang with his praises and achievements in several religions! Do you see now why I am puzzled to the extent of bewilderment by the incredible weakness of his Sun: the power of further growth? The moon is the highest planet in his chart, being nearly overhead at birth; this makes him a child of the moon, one of the children of the Lunar Fathers, a disciple of the path of lunar Initiation. Now, the Lunar Pathway pertained to Atlantis; and his psychism is essentially Atlantean. Can it be that he is one of the old Atlanteans who learned how to stay away from earth-life for thousands and thousands of years, only resuming his evolution a few lives ago? THAT could account for the weakness of his Sun and the strength of the psychic planets; but that would suggest the need of erecting for him a Lunar chart - and that is a method I do not know.

That would suggest that he is not a fully qualified or accredited member of our evolution; that is neither a compliment nor a disgrace; it is just a curious fact. Certainly, his powers are not the normal powers for this stage of the Aryan Race. They were great in Atlantis; and they will again be great on this continent in a few centuries or thousands of years. He would thus be either a vestige of the past or a precursor of the future - maybe both. Meanwhile our ideas and ideals of occultism are those of the present Aryan Race; so it is inevitable that he will give knowledge at variance with ours; and who is to say whether his psychical achieved information is more true than our occultly acquired knowledge?”

There it is as Raymond McDermott charts it.

He is an occultist and will not ask for a reading because of the karma. Guess I am to be the medium. Do you have in the association files any material on blindness. He should like it to be as a test of quite a number of cases showing the reason for blindness, and everything connected with it. But he will not ask for it. So I say here am I use me. Would you send me any information on the subject of blindness which you may have. I should like to help him. He has so much to offer. Last week he spoke to the Theosophical Society on the Occultism of Great Britain. He put his speech in Braille. He is the National President of the Braille Organization and translates occult books into Braille. I feel that he is one of the best astrologers. He knows that as the ages pass that it requires more charts for each individual horoscope and that it takes years to be proficient at it. The mathematical calculations are so great. No small mind could do them, says I.

He was able to give me the information which I need for [288]‘s Aura Chart [288-50]. Now I can begin in earnest with it.

At the time of the board meeting hope that there will be opportunity for a Mental Spiritual Reading. There surely must be something that I have to offer of service to humanity other than just being married and teaching two classes in symbolism. Guess it is just the old restless emotions which need stilling.

Dear [2441]:

Haven’t meant to be so long, but the reading from Mr. McDermott gave me considerable to think of. This is about the 35th chart or reading have had, and no two are even very similar, each have something that I may possibly feel or know that others don’t know or see, yet like to have other people’s opinion this to have been asking several what they think of same. Thank you tho, a thousand times for the reading and hope, may make it worth while. Personally, don’t quite get what is meant by there not being any spiritual growth this time. Then if true I am badly fooled with the experiences am having and have had since early childhood, but maybe don’t understand what it is meant, - but am not conscious of any hangover from, Priest or Teacher, even tho there are those who call me by these names. Am conscious of the experiences of the Heavenly Hosts, and many experiences of assurance from what to me is the Divine source of all things.

Have had several Blind friends - of all the people have known

• they are the most amazing. How they may see or do see, is the mystery to me, have been with several to see Moving pictures - in the silent days - and they could tell as much about what was shown as I - almost. That is, some of them if read the headings for them, which I liked to do. So have a bit of idea just what you mean about friend Mr. McDermott.

We have many individual cases, but have only had one as I recall where the information would offer no suggestion other than spiritual guidance. Don’t think have ever had a paper on blindness, so all we have is scattered through the files in many cases. It is all such things that we hope to have compiled some day, the work is slow, for lack of finances and workers, but will be worked out some day. Have a very good friend who has interested herself [Mrs. [2118]] in preparing books for the Blind - that is her pet work if such may be called such, and she happens to be able to contribute much to such work. Being Jewish, she is a supporter of this work in the home in N.Y. She has said she would have the book of my life done in Braille - in fact, has notified publishers of same. Good that he gave you the data for [288] chart [288-50] - have had several of these, now Mrs. [538]‘s [538-72]. All seem to think was especially pretty, tho all of them are beautiful to me, tho, as the information has suggested - the beauty all depends on the artist while their value as a helpful experience depends on the individual and how the symbols and figures respond to something in the individual them selves.

Think H. L. intends having the Board meeting some time this month, tho haven’t heard him speak of it lately, will try and reserve a period for you at that time, if you like.

Thanks again and again for the chart and reading, most interesting and believe can make it helpful. But so much is contradictory as he says - is hard just to know where to begin and where to end. Hope tho, am not so void of spirituality as he seems to think the chart indicates.

R13. 2/21/42 Extract from Thomas Sugrue’s letter [to to be read in conjunction with astrological chart of Edgar Cayce, made by Raymond McDermott and submitted by [2441], 1/28/42]:

“I am holding your your horoscope, trying to get that local astrologer here to answer some of my questions. I’ll hold it a little longer, then return it if she doesn’t show up. As to that part which puzzled the man - your sun - that to me seems simple in the light of your Life Reading, and particularly in the light of your special reading (which see) on your interim appearances (given at one of the Congresses [5755-1]. You at one time were out of this universe, and had attained the highest development possible in this sphere, but were drawn back in, and sunk down. Now you are like a man who owns a large property but has mortgaged it heavily and must work to get it clear. No wonder there is no indication of further development - that has been done - you have only now to free it of its encumbrances. That at least is my interpretation.

R14. 4/3/42 (Good Friday At Home) Mrs. [2441]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

On this Good Friday the betrayer returns to his Loved One to ask for forgiveness.

The darkness of ignorance can cause much chaos. That is what happened when this mind was struggling with the two words “Psychism and Spirituality”. I hope that at last it is free from doubt regarding the meaning of the two. And that you, my dear, will forgive any harm done to you. In discussing you with Raymond and of your powers I never intentionally meant to cause you any sorrow - it was my ignorance of these words which subconsciously must have influenced him into writing in your chart what he did. And so I ask to be forgiven and to offer myself in service to the work at the beach.

Perhaps this might be decided more fully by a Mental-Spiritual Reading. Which I should like to apply for at this time. Mr. [2462] feels he should be doing something for his country and has succeeded in passing preliminary tests for Army Aviation construction work. He of course does not know where he will be sent and for how long. This would free me to come to the Beach to help with the work of the Association if it is the wise thing to do. Also if my karma is worked out here. So in having a Mental-Spiritual Reading I have some questions to ask:

5. Where may material be found on Purification which has been and is needed in body and mind for the attaining of the attunement to the Creative Forces?

6. What are the three major colours as manifested in the Personality, the Ego and the Monad?

7. The use of sound is needed in refining - what is the key and notes for me? Would coloured light for my purification be of help? What type of light and where obtained?

8. Would the entity, Edgar Cayce take me as a pupil, for the developing of the Third Eye? Is clairvoyance and mental telepathy possible for me in this life for the helping of my fellowman?

9. The Deva Kingdom is of interest to me in working with colour and tone for healing. Is it possible for me to know more of this subject?

Thank you for yours of the 3rd - assure you all is forgiven. Please think no more of it, did not blame you one second, didn’t even think of your influencing Mr. McDermott’s opinions a little bit even. I know my limitations better than most, but at least I think I try to live spirituality, and hope may have something of the kind before the throne of Grace any way.

You know you put a great temptation before me, even suggesting that you might come to the Beach. But all joking aside, will be glad to undertake the Mental and Spiritual reading, have had very few of these in comparison to the others - few it seems wish to be told their faults along this line - or at least as the information sees it. Yet every one we have had, has been beautiful, tho often the readings give some very direct suggestions very nicely we think.

Am making the appointment for the afternoon of the 13th 3.30 to 4.30 EWT, hope that will be a convenient period for you to keep in meditation. Can’t imagine any thing nicer than having you here at the Beach and being able to see you every day or so. Don’t know of any thing that would be nicer than to visit in your home. Appreciate the thought and the time you are giving to the idea - will however have to wait a bit to see how will work out. Will be late going to N.Y., if we go at all, as Edgar Evans, the boy in the Army will be home possibly Saturday some time and will be here for ten days or such a matter. Do not know as yet where he will be sent, will be Commissioned today and tomorrow be given his assignment. Then too, Hugh Lynn, has been called again, he has been reclassified several times, but as the quota of the Co., seems far behind they are calling all who have been up where their health will permit for further questioning - if he should be sent away. Well, don’t know whether we will get to N.Y. at all or not, was supposed to know yesterday, but have put him off until some time next week.

So there are so many IF’s just do not know what to say, the idea appeals to me all ‘round but will have to let you know what happens a little bit later.

I’d like you to know what success I had by using his suggestion of Atomidine for Poison Ivy. Every year on our camping trip of three weeks up North I have contacted poison oak and nothing I ever did would stop the spread and I had to return home. This year I ordered the Atomidine and took it as he’d suggested for poison Ivy. I didn’t escape the usual exposure to it but each spot cleared up immediately without itching or discomfort. Thank God for Edgar Cayce.
