This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of February, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2453], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [2441].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:15 to 3:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Penna.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2453].
-
As we find, there are disturbing conditions which prevent the better physical functioning in the body. These have to do especially with the nervous system as related to the muscles and tendons, affecting specifically the extremities of the body.
-
We find that these arise from an unbalanced condition in the chemical forces of the body.
-
While there are tendencies and weaknesses which would indicate there might be hereditary conditions, this is not necessarily true.
-
But because of this unbalanced condition, and the lack of sufficient vitamins and of the stamina in the muscles and nerves - as assimilated by the body and carried to same, - we have that condition which is at times called Multiple Sclerosis, or that condition wherein there is the inability for the control of nerves and muscles of the body - and especially the limbs.
-
We find that this condition may be materially aided if there will be a consistent and persistent application of those influences as may be indicated to become boosters, as well as to replace those forces lacking in the body.
-
In making application of that as we find would be the most helpful, - we would have prepared the Low Wet Cell Appliance that carries those elements into the body in a vibratory manner. For this body we would prepare a double strength charging solution; using:
Copper Sulphate…3 pounds, Sulphuric Acid C.P…2 ounces, Zinc…6 drams, Willow Charcoal…1 pound.
-
We would use the Appliance for a period of thirty minutes each day from the very beginning; carrying one day the vibration from the Chloride of Gold and the next day Atomidine, and so on.
-
The Gold Solution would be in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold to each once of Distilled Water, and use at least four ounces in the Appliance.
-
The Atomidine would be used only half the commercial strength; that is, add two ounces of Distilled Water to two ounces of Atomidine, see?
-
Do not allow the connections that pass through the solution to remain in same when not in use. Of course, use different containers for the two solutions.
-
The attachments would be made as follows:
-
When using the Gold Solution, - the larger nickel plate, through which the vibration of the Solution passes, would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus; while the smaller copper plate would be attached to the 4th lumbar.
-
When using the Atomidine, - the nickel plate, through which the vibration of the Solution passes, would be put over the GALL duct and that area where food passes from the duodenum - or about two fingers higher than that area for attaching the Gold vibration; while the copper plate would be attached to the 9th dorsal center - the upper portion.
-
Use each of these for thirty minutes every other day, you see. Keep the attachment plates clean or polished before and after using. This is a low form of electricity that will be found beneficial.
-
Change the charging solution every thirty days. Do not use it longer than that without renewing it. The Gold and the Atomidine solutions would be changed every fifteen days.
-
Each evening when the body is prepared for rest, we would massage the body thoroughly with an equal combination of Peanut Oil and Olive Oil. It would be better to give the body a sponge bath first, and then massage these oils - combined, you see - along the whole of the spine and the extremities - arms and limbs. Massage the limbs TOWARD the body, while the spine would be massaged in a circular motion downward on either side.
-
Then the diet: Do not eat hog meat in ANY form, though fish, fowl or lamb may be taken if so desired - but no fried foods at any time of any kind!
-
At least each day have some food that is especially rich in sulphur, as well as the vitamins B-1. So, we would include then, of course, the yolk of eggs only - not the white. We would include carrots both raw and cooked; the yellow potatoes, not the white potatoes; parsnips as well as the oyster plant. All of these should be a part of the diet, one or the other every day or so.
-
Brown bread is preferable, - whole wheat, rye or the like.
-
Have plenty of citrus fruits, - oranges and pineapple, lemons and limes, grapefruit, - all of these should be a part of the diet.
-
Do these for at least two charges of the Appliance (that is, for sixty days). Then we would give further instructions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is there any cure for the condition? (A) Do these things indicated, and we will find that the body may gain a great deal in comparison to the present disturbing conditions.
We are through for the present, though we would give the further instructions when these have been followed consistently, persistently, for that period indicated.
- We are through for the present.

Dear Mr. Cayce,
It has been over a month since my husband has used the Wet Cell Appliance. A week ago, weakness appeared in the limbs rather suddenly. Since then his walking has been very poor. In fact he really can’t walk at all - its mostly crawling. Three days ago swelling appeared around his ankles & at present his body is covered with welts rather indistinct but noticeable. The rash around his ankles is in small dots but it is larger over the rest of his body. His bowels are very irregular, too. All in all he is quite indisposed. I’m telling you these things in the hope that you may have on record a similar case which will aid in [2453]‘s treatment.
As soon as the walking was so impaired we both felt that maybe the machine might be causing the re-action - that it should be stopped for a while. As a result we stopped using it for about five days but will continue as soon as we get the solution changed.
We were so long in getting all the necessary ingredients assembled & then in getting the machine in proper working order. Hence the delay in the treatments.
May I ask two things before closing. Can you tell me since beef was not mentioned, if it should not be in [2453]‘s diet. The other is about cigarette smoking. I’ve tried very hard in getting my husband to stop smoking & he has done beautifully but I find once in a while a few traces of them in the ash tray. Isn’t it most necessary for him to stop smoking? (entirely)
Awaiting a reply & thanking you for your help I am,
Sincerely, [2520]
P.S. I forgot to mention that once in a while the ankles ache. That this might help to know. We are having Dr. Howard McClelland an Osteopath late this evening & he will no doubt help. I didn’t wait for his verdict for I wanted to get this letter off & the reply if possible before the conference.
R2. 6/11/41 EC’s ltr. to [2520]:
Dear Mrs. [2520]:
Have yours of the 9th - sorry to hear that Mr. [2453] is not feeling so good, would suggest that you have the Dr. write Dr. Frank Dobbins of N.Y. 551-5th Ave. He has had one possibly several cases very similar to Mr. [2453]‘s, ones we gave readings for, where excellent results have been gotten - feel the rash is from some poison stired [stirred? stored?] up and not being eliminated properly. Am sure Dr. Dobbins will be glad to give the Dr. his experience with such cases
- and this will be better than any thing I might say unless another reading were given. And if he isn’t better real soon would like to do this any way. Dr. Dobbins is an Osteopath.
Beef in moderation may be alright - especially beef juice - not soup but will enclose how the information says make it - take this tho like medicine not more than a teaspoon full at a time and sip that very slowly. Seldom has the information forbid smoking, will ask all such questions when we get a check - up in fact will ask that you and the Dr. make a whole list of questions to have asked.
Thanking you for letting me hear - hoping the Dr. will write Dr. Dobbins at once.
With all good wishes
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
Am sure the rash not swelling is caused from the appliance - rather from that as indicated.

“Will you please tell Mr. Cayce that my husband looked fine upon my return and that no time is being wasted. Dr. McClelland took his vacation this week and won’t be home until Sunday. As soon as I can get hold of him and find out if he has written to Dr. Dobbins, I’ll write you, you may be sure. I’m so anxious to get moving faster. I’ve massaged my husband and given him his treatment with the machine every day. His ankles are still swollen at the end of the day, but his general health is excellent. As soon as Dr. Howard McClelland returns, the dust will fly, if I have anything to do with it. Isn’t it grand to be assured of a thing and I was most certainly helped by my visit. Before my visit I thought I was convinced but I really wasn’t. Now that I have seen, I do most certainly believe and will do ALL within my power to spread the good news. I must tell you of a little happening which shows you of the POSITIVE thinking I am doing. While ironing the other day, I had flashed before me the picture of Mr. and Mrs. [2441], my husband and I riding to the Congress next June. The reason for our journey was for Mr. […] to testify at one of your meetings as to his normal health. Keep this in mind, for we are all working for his welfare and know that with constant effort and exact following of advice, this will be accomplished.”
R5. She asked about readings on hardening of the arteries, as she had a friend who needed help with this condition.
R6. 7/11/41 GD’s ltr. to [2520]:
Mrs. [2520] …, Penna.
Dear Mrs. [2520]-
Thank you so much for your lovely letter of sometime ago. I am so sorry about the delay in getting your Life Reading mailed. I hadn’t intended to be so long about it, but people kept coming in for a week after the Congress and I didn’t have a chance to do anything but “take down” Readings. After about three days of that, I am completely “snowed under” and it takes me ages to crawl out. However, I am glad to say that it doesn’t happen often. It was just unfortunate that your Reading happened to be one of those. When I got behind, of course I “do” the Physical Readings first.
It was such a pleasure to meet and know you, and dear Mrs. […] I am holding the thought with you that by next Congress we will be able to present Mr. [2453]‘s case. There is no reason why it should not be possible, - more wonderful things than that have happened.
Now about the cases of Hardening of the Arteries, - again I want to apologize for not answering sooner. I’ve been trying to get everything in shape, as I am to have my tonsils out this afternoon. The Reading says it is at last necessary, - they’ve been a drain on my system for quite a while.
We have had a number of cases of this kind, - in fact my mother is one of them. But so far as I can find, the causes are quite different in each case; therefore the treatments vary. In looking over the index cards I find that some cases have been apparently cured entirely, while others were given only temporary relief. My mother, for instance, is able to continue her activities the same as formerly, except that constantly she had to take certain drops to keep the blood thinned. The Reading states there is nothing to do to CORRECT the condition, - it is caused by an injury to her spine years ago that was not corrected in time. Of course, the doctors gave her up several years ago, as she had a paralytic stroke (from the same cause, according to the Reading) and was “supposed” to be paralyzed on one whole side of the body. However, through getting a Reading IMMEDIATELY and following the minutest details as to oil rubs, osteopathy, etc., she was able in a few weeks to have full use of her limbs. But the cause is still there, and for the last year has taken this turn of causing hardening of the arteries to the heart. I’d like to say here, for the benefit of your friend, that osteopathy for my mother - as suggested by the Readings - has been a life saver. I KNOW she would have passed long ago but for that. We gave her osteopathy even when the MD warned us against it. So often where the heart is affected, the MD’s are afraid of massage. But I know it has worked wonders in many such serious cases.
Kindest regards from all,
Sincerely, [signed] Gladys

Dear Mr. Cayce,
Friday July 25th, ends the time required for the treatment Mr. [2453] was assigned. We are reporting to you the progress thus far and also the way in which the treatment was followed.
I am quite pleased with the improvement in the leg most effected. Before starting the treatment, Mr. [2453] was unable to lift the left leg at all - there seemed to be no life in it. Now he is able, with his own effort to lift it a little and also to swing it a little, back and forth, when standing. Isn’t this a wonderful report?
The sad part about it all is the fact that we have been unable to carry out all directions, due to the fact that my husband’s brother insisted he hear from Dr. Dobbins, before continuing the Osteopathic treatments. Dr. Dobbins must have been vacationing at the time we sent our letter, for it was sometime before we heard from him. His reply to the letter we sent, was simply for us to follow, to the letter, all directions given in the Reading. It has only been three days since we received Dr. Dobbins’ reply, so therefore the Osteopathic treatments were not given. The Low Cell Battery was used every morning & the oil rubs were given every night just as the directions read. The diet was watched carefully & very few times was it overstepped. His smoking is almost a thing of the past & his color has improved greatly. The set back which we felt was due to the effects of the Battery is practically cleared. The swelling and the rash are no longer present.
With this report I am enclosing a check for ten dollars ($10.00) for another Reading. Until we hear from you, the treatments will be continued faithfully.
Awaiting a reply and with continued faith for the future, I am
Most sincerely, [2520]

Dear Mr. Cayce:
I am sending these questions to be asked during my reading on Wed. afternoon.
Should I take Osteopathic treatments? What type of manipulation should they be? How often should I have them? Can I eat any meat except pork? Is my diet satisfactory? Should I be following any form of exercises for the affected legs?
Thanking you, I am [2453]
