This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of July, 1941, in accordance with request made the by the self - Mr. [2453], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Penna.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2453]; this we have had before.
-
AS we find, there are helpful influences in the experience of the body; though there has not been the full or consistent adherence to all of the applications suggested.
-
We would adhere rather severely to all the applications that have been indicated.
-
Keep the Wet Cell Appliance carrying the low vibratory forces electrically distributed through the body, with the elements as indicated.
-
At least once a week have a relaxing treatment osteopathically administered, to set up better drainages in the body.
-
We would not use pork or hog meat in ANY form, unless it is tripe or liver or kidneys or the like.
-
All types of foods such as calves’ liver, pigs’ feet, marrow fat and the like should be a part of the diet; as should fish, fowl and lamb; especially the bony pieces of fowl, the ends of which may be masticated if they are prepared in such a manner - as baked, roasted, or cooked inside the oven. The assimilation of all these types of food would be more helpful to the body. These should add to the strength and vitality; purifying the system in the manner indicated with the other properties - if persisted in.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Should I be following any form of exercises for the affected legs? (A) The most of the exercise should be by the general relaxing treatment osteopathically, as well as the general activities. Do not give way to the weaknesses so much, but do not strain; rather use self in practical ways or manners, see?
-
(Q) Is my diet satisfactory? (A) We have just been talking about diet and how to change to those things that should be more beneficial. These are not all the foods to be taken, of course. There should be plenty of vegetables and fruits as a part of the diet at various times, but follow these in that way as should be in keeping with adding the better assimilations and eliminations for the body.
-
We are through with this Reading.

R1. 9/21/41 Mrs. [2441]‘s letter: “Mrs. [2520] telephoned me today that her husband has taken 14 steps last night and they were so thrilled because his leg has been dead or so it seemed to them. They are counting the days and months when they can come to the beach for the next congress and to tell what you have done for them.
“[Miss [1747]] had met a man in Ohio who has the same disease as Mr. [2453] and she got this man to write to Mr. [2453] to ask him whether or not you had helped him. That put Mr. [2453] on the spot and so he has written to the fellow in Ohio to tell him what you have done for him. God bless you my dear for just being!”
R2. 9/41 Wife [2520] obtained first Physical Reading - see 2520-2.
R3. 2/1/42 Wife [2520]‘s letter: “He seems to be gaining slowly, but surely. Since last March, when he had the Reading, he has really made a remarkable gain in so far as being more confident and also in standing straighter. Before the Reading he was drawn to the left side quite noticeably, but now he sits and stands straighter. His walking has improved, too. He is working hard to be strong enough for the trip this June to the Congress. We are holding the idea that he will be there.”
R4. 12/30/42 (Wednesday) Wife [2520]‘s letter:
At Home
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I realize you have been neglected as far as we are concerned. I kept putting off writing to you in hopes my husband would return to his treatment. He must have thought the treatment brought results too slowly, for he lost interest during late summer. He did not follow the treatment to the letter. I coaxed him to continue, but not to just follow one thing - I stressed the necessity of all in the reading.
We have moved and he is having to go up & down steps more often. He gets there by lifting his bad leg with his hand. He does quite well, but I’d like to see him walk by himself. Maybe a few words from you might help the situation.
Your book was received, and I am enclosing a check for five dollars, ($5.00) in payment of it. My husband has finished it and now he feels that he knows you better. During his reading he asked me many questions about the things that happened in your life. He was particularly interested in the Hospital. I have a feeling that now he is convinced about your good to humanity, and by it, I hope he will soon return to your reading of him. I have had time enough to read about one third of the book. My impression thus far is that of a very well written book. I can’t imagine anyone being able to tell another’s life and making it so real. I felt I knew you Mr. Cayce after my short visit at the Congress, but after reading just a little of the book, I seem to understand and sympathize with you much more. Tom has certainly put a living person in his lines, and to think I know that person. It is my first experience in reading a book about someone I know personally. This makes the reading of it doubly interesting.
Our book number is number one hundred seventy seven (177), the number of our house where we started our married life. Does this have any significance?
Our love and best wishes are sent to you and your family for the New Year.
Most sincerely, [2520]
R5. 1/5/43 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. [2520]:
Dear Mrs. [2520]
Glad to have yours of the 31st - good to hear from you again, we think of and speak of you often here about.
Sorry Mr. [2453] stopped off with his treatments, do hope he may be encouraged to give them another try, could he have but seen the young man who wrote the book and know what he has gone through, he might have taken courage, building back is sometimes long and arduous but is really worth it, tho we stumble often.
Glad Mr. [2453] liked the book, would like to hear from him as to what he thinks of same.
And when you have finished won’t you write me what you think. Quite unusual, you know another one asked me the same question about the number of their book, was the number of the house they went to first live in in Detroit.
Do not know much about numerology but we do find such works out some way. One might be chance but when several - well there must be a law as to such things but I do not know it.
Thanks again and with every good wish.
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
