This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of July, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2526], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Miss [528] via Mrs. [2514].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
At home, 4 mi. W. Time of Reading of …, Tenn., on 10:55 to 11:10 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. old highway 13, 1 mi. from new highway 48, in … Montgomery Co., District 13.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2526].
-
As we find, there are conditions which prevent the better physical functioning of the body.
-
These arise primarily from a glandular condition, though they have produced in portions of the functioning organs disturbances that must be taken into consideration.
-
The disturbances arise primarily, in this body, in the superficial circulation - in the extremities and to the locomotory centers.
-
The attempt to bring about bettered conditions causes some swelling, and a great deal of soreness in portions of the body.
-
We find that the condition is in those stages of a form of inflammation of the lymph that consumes the circulations between the outer, inner and the still inner skin. While it gives a great deal of disturbance, it is gradually closing those portions so that there is a mal-formation in the areas that are attacked.
-
The glandular forces affected in this body are in the liver and the adrenals, as well as the thyroids themselves.
-
These then, as we find, are the conditions as present themselves in the present.
-
First, then, in making applications, we would add to the body that which will purify or cleanse the glandular systems of the body; and then gradually build up those necessary forces to bring better and nearer to normal reactions. And if there is the consistent application, the consistent attitude, and the LIVING of it, we may bring near to normal forces. It will require persistence and consistency, - in diet, in activity, in the mental attitude towards self and others.
-
We would begin, then, by taking small quantities of Atomidine internally, in this manner; in half a glass of water of morning before any meal is taken:
One drop each morning for two days. Then two drops each morning for two days. Then three drops each morning for two days. Then four drops each morning for two days. The next day take FIVE drops - only the one day, you see. Then leave off.
-
Take then an Epsom Salts Bath - using a saturated solution of Epsom Salts. This would mean about fifteen pounds of the Epsom Salts in thirty to forty gallons of tepid water; not hot, not cold, but tepid - but have the Epsom Salts thoroughly dissolved. Let the body lie in this for at least thirty minutes; and throughout that period massage the body thoroughly over the lower limbs, commencing across the small of the back and down the limbs, see?
-
Then when the body is massaged off from this, give the body a thorough massage with Pure Peanut Oil - all that the body will absorb. Begin at the base of the head or brain and go downward along the spine; especially around the neck and over the thyroid area, and down the spine; then across especially the lower portion of the spinal system, the whole of the sacral area, down the limbs underside and over side.
-
The body then would rest from the applications for three days.
-
Then begin the Atomidine again, taking it in the same manner. When the dosage of five drops has been repeated, then have another Epsom Salts Bath. Do not attempt to use the same bath, - that is, the same Epsom Salts solution,- for the excretions will be such that it would be very harmful to use the same bath again. Make a fresh solution, and have this a little bit warmer than the first, see?
-
Follow the Bath with the Peanut Oil rub, the same as before.
-
THEN begin with the use of the low Wet Cell Appliance carrying Gold, in the proportions of one grain to each ounce of Distilled Water - and use at least four ounces. The small copper plate would be attached to the lumbar axis, the larger plate carrying the Gold Solution vibratorially, would be attached to the lacteal duct and umbilical center, - that is, about three fingers from the navel center to the right, and two fingers above where this line would come, see? The attachments would be kept on the body each day for thirty minutes. Be sure and keep the plates polished before each application.
-
Follow the Appliance each day with the thorough massage with the Peanut Oil.
-
While the Appliance is being used, take the Atomidine in this manner; in half a glass of water before the morning meal:
-
One drop each day for five days. Leave off five days. Take again for five days. Leave off five days. Take again five days, and so on.
-
After fifteen applications, change the Gold Solution, renewing this.
-
Then keep on using the Appliance for another fifteen days, making thirty applications in all; and then we would give further instructions.
-
In the matter of the diet throughout the period, - we would keep those foods that are easily assimilated and that are body-building. Have a great deal of vegetable soups, but not with meats or fats in same. These should be seasoned rather with butter. And ALL the vegetables should be cooked in Patapar Paper, eating the juices of same with the vegetables, see?
-
Fish, fowl or lamb are preferable as the meats, but NEVER any fried foods.
-
Do these, and then at the end of the course outlined, when the Appliance itself is to be recharged, we would give the instructions for further applications.
-
Ready for questions, - [2526].
-
We are through for the present.

(Atomidine is manufactured by The Atomidine Company, 9 So. 8th Ave., Mt. Vernon, N. Y. It sells for $1 a bottle, and the company will send it to you direct if you tell them that Mr. Cayce recommended it for you.
You should be able to buy Peanut Oil from your local grocery or druggist; if not, it may be ordered from Planters Peanut Co., Suffolk, Va.
See directions [which were enclosed] for assembling the Wet Cell Appliance. By the time you are ready to use this, it may be that Mrs. [2514] can let you use the Appliance which she got from Miss [528]. Your solution is a little different, however, and you should follow your own directions carefully and not get anything mixed with hers. See sheet [which was enclosed] telling how to charge the Appliance. These ingredients, also the Gold Solution, may be obtained from your local druggist - no doubt. If not, they may be ordered from Meredith Drug Co., Atten Mr. Bill Meredith, 17th Street, Virginia Beach, Va. See extra sheet [which was enclosed] giving the ingredients to be ordered, which you can send direct to the druggist. Be sure to follow directions carefully when charging the Appliance.
Patapar Paper should be obtained from a grocery store, department store, or the like; if not it can be ordered for 25 cents a dozen sheets from Paterson Parchment Paper Co., Bristol, Penna.
After all the directions have been followed to the letter, ending with the thirty day use of the Appliance as indicated, let us know so we may make an appointment for a Check Physical to give further instructions.
Ck. Physical Blank
You will notice that the notation to the druggist calls for fifteen ounces of the Gold Solution. The Chloride of Gold comes in fifteen grain ampules and has to be made into solution immediately when opened, so it is cheaper for you to buy the whole fifteen ounces, as you will need eight ounces just for the thirty day period outlined for using the Appliance, - and no doubt the Check Reading will suggest that you continue it, for a while at least.)
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/12/41 Letter from [2526] to EC: “Received my reading July the 8th, and I am very much pleased with it. Mrs. [2514] had 2 bottles of Atomidine so I bought one from her and begin [began] taking it. July 10th. If I should be menstruating when time comes for me to take my salts bath shall I take it anyway? Around my monthly periods I have cold dumb spells and almost smother to death. My Dr. here told me to keep a little good whiskey in the house and take it when I have these spells. Is it allright for me to take it? I will not be able to get the Wet Cell Appliance from Mrs. [2514] as she will still be using it when I get ready for mine, she was delayed some in getting her Atomidine. Do you know of anyone else who might have one? If not I’ll just have to buy myself one. I want to be sure and have at [it?] when time for me to use it. Hoping to hear from you by July 18th as my salts bath comes the 19th.
“I am so thankful to think there is a way for me to get well. I am trying to do everything right and just what I should.
“Thank you very kindly,” Mrs. [2526]
R2. 7/17/41 Letter from EC to Mrs. [2526]: “Have yours of the 12th. Am glad you are pleased with your reading - and feel from the experience of others that you will get results if you will follow the suggestions to the letter - do all it says to do but not more or less. No, do not think it would be advisable to take the salts bath if it comes at the period
- unless it is about over.
“Think after you have taken a few rounds of the Atomidine you will not need the whiskey - but should you have the spells, and that helps, take it, to be sure. But believe you will not need it with the Atomidine.
“Do not know of any one in that vicinity - unless Mrs. House [Carrie Salter House] has one - you might write and ask her, think some of the family used one there some time ago, whether they have it or not do not know.
“Know am glad to try and help - don’t hesitate to ask any question, Mrs. [2526] - all are important, and don’t forget to pray all the while. There is power in prayer, and gives much strength to carry on.
“Hoping to be of a help…”
R3. 7/28/41 Letter from Mrs. [2526] to EC: “Mrs. House has been trying to find a Wet Cell Appliance for me. I have not heard from her. I am sure she was not able to find one so will you please send me one at once. I will need it Saturday, Aug. 2. That is the day I will be supposed to begin using it. Please be sure that everything is with it. As I do not want to be delayed with any of my treatments. I am feeling better; I have more strength and energy.”
R4. 7/31/41 Letter from EC to Mrs. [2526]: “Have yours of the 28th - do hope can get you an appliance together from somewhere soon. The Company who made them, or the people Edgar Evans Cayce?] have been drafted into the army. Will see and have sent out request to those who know of they have been sent to try and locate one for you. Sorry to delay you in your treatments, but will do the best can for you.
“Would keep up that suggested until you do get the appliance to continue on with that - you are not close enough to go to Mrs. [2514] to go there and take treatments from her machine are you - or could you do that until can get one, for you am sure she would let you do that just make it some time each day she is not using it, for it is only a 30 minute treatment each day.
“Regretting the delay…”
R5. 8/9/41 Letter from Mrs. [2526] to EC: “I think I am getting along fine except I take cold very easily, and when I do my arms [and] face swell. I can tell all over my body is tight. My right arm shoulder and the right side of my neck gets so tight the skin and seems like the leades [?] draw.
“When I take cold is there anything to do about it. I am not doing one thing anyway except what you tell me. I am sure sorry we are having so much trouble getting a Wet Cell Appliance. Trusting we may find one soon…”
R6. 9/3/41 Letter from Mrs. [2526] to EC: “I am still waiting for a Wet Cell Appliance. I have tried every way I could to get one, but have had no luck. I got a man that I thought could make one to go look at Mrs. [2514]‘s machine and then he said he could not. I am still taking my Atomidine and Salts bath. Do hope you can find me one soon. I would like to use it the 30 days and then you read for me again and see how I am getting along. I feel some better, but of course I still can’t tell any difference in the tightness in my skin. So hoping you may find me a Wet Cell Appliance soon.”
R7. 9/22/41 Letter from Mrs. [2526] to EC: “I am still taking the Atomidine and Salts baths and hoping every day to get my appliance. My hands, right arm and shoulder and up in my neck down my spine has been hurting me a lot. So tight and drawing I have also been having little sores on the ends of my fingers. And they sure hurt me a lot. People tell me it is the nerves dying in my fingers. Do you still want me to use the appliance 30 days when you send it before you read for me again? I can also feel the skin across the lower part of my stomach and the back of my legs from my hips down are getting awful tight and hard. I do hope I can soon get the appliance. I am sorry to have you so much trouble getting me one, but I tried every way I could to get one, but could not. So I know soon as you can you will send it to me. I think Mrs. [2514] is improving from her treatments so please let me hear from you as soon as possible.”
R8. 9/30/41 Letter from Mrs. [2526] to EC: “I am so happy to know you have found appliance for me. Hope it has not been a lot of trouble for you. Guess you got my letter last week. I am feeling better than I did last week. I know I am not as nervous as I was. I am sure anxious to get using my appliance. Please send it C.O.D. to [2526]…”
R9. 10/6/41 Letter from Mrs. [2526] to EC: “Received my appliance yesterday. And very happy to get it. I already have it charged ready to use today. I am sorry I had to be so much trouble about it. I am still feeling better and I know in a few days more by using my appliance I’ll feel lots better. I thank you very much for all your trouble and all the good things you are doing for me…”
R10. 10/28/41 Letter from Mrs. [2526]: “I think I am still improving, altho my hands and up my right shoulder and neck have been awfully tight and stiff for the last day or so. I have a bad cold, it may be the cause. My month of using my Wet Cell Appliance will be out Nov. 7th. I would like for you to read for me again now, any time you think best. Just let me know and I will send you the money, as I am very anxious to see how I am getting along.”
R11. 11/3/41 “1. What causes my arm and neck to draw so badly? 2. What should I do when I have colds? 3. Should I stay on the same diet? 4. Should all treatments be continued in same manner?”
R12. 11/5/41 See 2526-2.
