This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at Phillips Hotel, Room 115, Dayton, Ohio, this 16th day of April, 1924, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [2553].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, and those conditions relative to the astrological conditions and the effect as same might be had, will be had, upon the entity without reference to the will forces as may be exercised in the physical in the present plane, and with those conditions as have been experienced by the entity upon the earth plane, with those conditions as have been brought in present plane by the exercise of will. These, however, will be necessary to be kept separate, for the understanding of conditions relative to astrological effect as is exercised in the earth plane for this entity.

2. As to the time of birth, we have the completion of the present entity in the evening. This is not with reference to birth in the physical sense, for the taking of breath into the physical bodies all entities are not completed. With the mental, physical, spiritual and soul forces entities become complete. As for the effect irrespective of will force, we find these conditions. As for the zodiacal signs, comes under Aquarius, but has little to do with the present entity’s effect received from astrological forces, save in the conjunction with entity’s Gemini.

3. As to that plane from which the soul and spirit took its flight to the present earth plane, from that far away force as exercised in Neptune. Hence we have an entity that to self and all others, for many, many moons present sphere’s conditions will be peculiar to other people, rarely ever being understood; yet one with the spiritual insight of the developing in earth plane, and one whom others would be, could be, benefited by, by being in contact with this entity.

4. One that will give much toward the developing of many in the earth’s plane.

5. One whose greatest forte lies in developing others toward the spiritual forces, and those things mysterious to earth plane dwellers who understand little of the spiritual forces.

6. One whose forces are exercised to such an extent that those who come in contact with this entity and trample under foot those spiritual forces as exercised do so to their own souls’ detriment. Many such cases are in this body’s life.

7. As to those forces in the astrological effect received for this entity: Those in Neptune, with that force of Jupiter and the Sun’s rays, as the Gemini, that give of the better and ennobling forces to this entity.

8. One whose forces in the Moon and Venus are in the opposition to that of good in this entity’s sojourn in this plane, and those forces are those which the entity must overcome here now, for there have in other spheres been those conditions that this entity is now meeting to overcome; giving then of the spiritual insight, as this entity has in this sphere. Forget not that the ever giving force of all truth and light comes from Him who has given, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Light. No man enters in save through me.” Give then of those forces, and be not overcome with the evil that ever surrounds this body in physical forces. And as to those elements that give of this world’s goods, will be found in that of Jupiter’s forces, as exercised in the Sun’s forces in the latter part of present year, and within the next two years.

9. As to those influences in the life of the present plane’s forces, as exercised in the force of Moon and Venus, we find this brings many of those troublesome forces to all conditions relating either to the physical or bodily love, and of the strange marital relations that may exist in the present plane.

10. As to those appearances that we find, the entity in the present plane would ever do much better across seas, or far, far from those of the surroundings of the birth.

11. In the plane before this, we find in that of the Court of the King of the Forum [Nero?], when those forces as were exercised in the destruction of those peoples who were persecuted for their belief in Truth and Life. In that we find the body faithful unto the end. Into the forces then that are shown in the present plane’s forces and individuality is the ever inward desire to know of those spiritual workings of the soul, and the desire to seek after the Master’s force and His desire.

12. In the one before this, we find in that of the country when Xerxes [Ahasuerus] over-rode the Eastern portions of now Persia. This entity then was among those destroyed in that invasion, and was of the household of the then ruling monarch. In that of the household of Abner. In the forces as shown in the present personality exhibited, and the individuality forces, the ever readiness to fight for home, or for personal principles.

13. In the one before this we find was in those days when the Sons of God came together to announce the coming of man’s dwelling on the earth plane. This then we find has ever been the indwelling force throughout the ages, as known from earth’s plane, of the love of the Creator.

14. Then, in all of these, and in that which this entity may use these with its own will, as given by the Maker, to exercise in the earth’s plane, do this: Keep the will ever in accord with that indwelling force that gathers its force from the soul and spirit of this entity, knowing that the physical will not be tempted beyond that which it is able to bear with His, the Master’s, help and aid. Give then of self in the present sphere, for with this present development, when kept in that straight and narrow way, will lead on, in that yearning of soul and spirit, to His Home.

R1. 9/12/26 Mrs. [2553] and her husband, [5759], had a baby daughter born to them.

R2. 6/29/33 She wrote: “My little daughter and I left [5759] four yrs. ago in Oct. and came north. I was very sick at the time with worry, on the verge of a breakdown. Was advised by my physician and rector to leave him; he had been cutting up very terribly. Several months previous I had secured a position and saved as much as I could so we could make the trip. I rested for several months at Mother’s and then I went in nurses’ training, the desire I had always had. My, how happy I was during my training days and last July I graduated. In August I got an institutional position at the hospital where I remained and was there seven months. Since March of this year I am doing private duty and like it very much. I have been kept very busy, only a week off at the most between cases… I think of you so often and your work, and my, how I wish I could be on cases for you… My Supt. is very interested because I told her all about my little son [3751]‘s case… I am so very happy in my work. Jan. of this year I got my divorce but not knowing where [5759] is or where he could be found I am not expecting anything from him. […] my little daughter is seven years old this year and she is a lovely child… I am so anxious to hear from you. Remember me very kindly to Mrs. Cayce and the staff that I know. Is Miss Davis still with you? How is Mr. Kahn? Do you every hear from the Shroyers?”

R3. 7/19/33 EC’s letter to Mrs. [2553]:

My dear Mrs. [2553]:

It was indeed a surprise, but a real pleasure, to have yours of June 29th. We have wondered and wondered, and spoken of you quite often since we saw you in Houston some years ago.

I suppose […] is a great big girl now. Of course, we all felt that the separation must eventually come. How you went on as long as you did was a wonder, and sometimes a mystery. Yet, now that all is changed, as you look back, I’m sure there is little or no regret; even though you suffered as you did. That you have been physically able, though, to carry on and to accomplish what you have certainly does speak for the faith, confidence and hope that has ever been the rule and order of your life. That it is being fulfilled at this time, and bringing happiness and harmony to you, means that it will also bring contentment and a life very much worth while in this experience.

As for ourselves, things have not been as glorious as they might have appeared from the surface of things. The hospital was built, furnished, started to running, and I’m sure a great deal of good was accomplished for a time. Then, as in many cases, there began to be some discordant notes, first in one direction then another. Then the trustees had a real personal grievance one with another, and - of course - being in the position I was, I was caught between the netherstone. The hospital was closed on March 1st, 1931, and is used now as a hotel by those who had the most money in the organization. I might have held it, but things of that kind can only bring regrets - if I know anything about it at all. In June of the same year quite a number of individuals, who had been aided through the Work, came together and indicated they felt it should be carried on. Hence the new organization, Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc. Commencing an organization of this kind, during the period when the whole world has been in such an economic distress, of course, has not been an easy matter. Many times we have wondered where the next day’s rations would come from. The home on which I had put so much time and work was taken away. During the first year we moved three times. We have been in the present location a little more than a year. I don’t know just how things will be, but - of course - we have faith that as long as we do the right thing, He will provide. Not our will, then, but His be done in and through us day by day!

We have had a great deal of information and data, and I am asking Miss Gladys to send one of the current Bulletins to you - which will give some idea of how the Work is being presented at present.

I hope that some of these days we will have another institution, where individuals may take advantage of the effects that may come from really applying the treatments suggested through the channels that the Father has been gracious enough to give us in this material world, that will make us more and more aware of His love.

I certainly am very glad to hear from you, Mrs. [2553] and hope you will let us hear real often.

As you know, Mr. Shroyer was with the hospital for a year or more. Of course, you knew that he and Violet were separated and divorced. Mr. Shroyer has the little boy, Donald. While he was here, after the hospital was closed, he was associated with the university for a while. During that time he met a young lady [Virginia Wiley] that was dietician at the hospital. They married just about the time the hospital closed. When the school with which he was connected closed in January a year ago, at the death of her mother, they went to her home in Crozet, Virginia. They have a little girl, born while they lived here, but we haven’t seen or heard anything from him since he left here. Many times we have written, but he was like that - as you know - at times.

I have not been to Dayton since I saw you. We have very few close friends there at present. Some for whom we did some work, who are still quite enthusiastic, write to us occasionally.

• mental disturbance… Have I told you I have an invention which is all patented and now on the market? They are selling and I am so pleased. It is a non-slip bath mat. Am enclosing a folder to further familiarize you with the product.”

R5. 12/1/38 Letter: “I still enjoy my work very much. Am centering more on psychiatric nursing which makes it doubly interesting. Am on my present case over seven months.”

R6. 2/28/39 Mrs. [1444]‘s letter: “Mr. Cayce is no doubt aware of how much esteem and love Mrs. [2553] has for him. She sincerely feels that Christ must have been just such a man, when living, as Mr. Cayce is. What more could anyone say?”

R7. 12/13/44 She wrote an appreciative letter regarding how much the book, THERE IS A RIVER, had done for her and others she knew.

R8. 10/17/72 She wrote HLC: “Your father was a wonderful man and many times I have said that in my estimation he was so close to the teachings and patience of mankind that he reminded me of God. He lived a godly life… Please do not drop me from your mailing lists. [She reported on rdgs. for her little son [3751].]

“After losing my husband [5759] I raised my daughter, then went into the nursing profession and while in training gave lectures on the wonderful works of Edgar Cayce. After many years of nursing I met a fine man and married. However, seven years ago he passed on, so I am now quite alone and enjoying all the beautiful pasts in my own life…

“May you have success in the A.R.E.”
