This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 30th day of August, 1933, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [257], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and Hugh Lynn Cayce.]
Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, New York. (Body & enquiring mind, who seeks advice for Thursday meeting and details for completing plans Allan and Sam Bronfman, Distillers Corp., 1430 Peel St., Montreal, Canada, and Sam Ungerleider of N.Y. You will give them that needed at this time, & answer the questions, as I ask them)
-
EC: Yes, we have those conditions that confront the body and the enquiring mind of [257] at this time, respecting Allan and Sam Bronfman and the deal as related to the Distillers Corporation.
-
As we find, most of the conditions that have been worked out through [257] will, in the main, be satisfactory.
-
There are some details, as we find, that will tend to prolong the negotiations at this time. However, in handling the situation, or making the report (of which the meeting will consist), it will be well that the whole situation be set out as it exists; as to the amount of stock (that is worth goods) on hand and the manner in which this may be ready for delivery when the conditions and circumstances make same available for distribution through this organization that is being conducted by Ungerleider in its formation.
-
Then, there needs be only that the whole plan be held somewhat in abeyance to the circumstances and conditions that are necessary under the legal phases of the situation.
-
To attempt to go beyond this, or to do other than this, would - as we find - spoil the whole connection.
-
To be sure, there will be the necessity for the negotiations to be carried sufficiently far that there may be signed agreements on the part of Bronfman and Ungerleider that may be able to draw upon the situation for the immediate needs in defraying expenses in the various natures that have accrued from bringing together those that will negotiate under the terms (though some little changes) that have been set forth.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What discussions are necessary for me, for both sides, to consummate deal? (A) Just as we have indicated. There must be, to be sure, agreements that these plans will be consummated at the time, when, and in the way that may be designated, see? and terminated, or fulfilled, as soon as the legal conditions may be carried forward.
For, to be sure, these negotiations entail international situations; and depend upon the national attitudes between countries, see? Naturally, then, they have to be considered from such angles.
The other discussions for immediate needs, for contributions that are to come from both sides from the connections made, are necessary for the body [257]; but, as indicated and given, let all be open; let all be designated; let all be agreed upon and put in black and white!
-
(Q) Any other advice or information for [257] at this time? (A) This is all we have respecting the situation at present.
-
We are through.

R2. EC Work Rdg. 254-68, Par. 5-A on 9/7/33 interpreted the experience as an illustration of a razor being dulled by sharpening pencils; the irritation of such business advice to Mr. [257] hindering EC’s psychic gift. “Through such irritation, though, oft does the soul grow, even as the pearl … So… it finds its hardships - yes, here and there; yet he [EC] may lead that soul [257] to the heavenly stair!”

“On what basis should I suggest their best advantage for ass’n?

“Will I come in contact with Mr. Ross of London who is English head? Will anyone have to go to London from our group to close a deal? What are the advantages and possibilities of the ass’n of these two groups?
“Please advise me what to say to Sam Ungerleider as to my future ass’n with him in this transaction, or others? Would I be a valuable assistance to Ungerleider business? Would I be successful in the type of work in Wall Street?”
