MD: Please review physical and mental and material body of [257], of Room 1525, 505 Michigan Ave., Medina Athletic Club, Chicago, Ill. Have the treatments had the proper results? And advise him as to his proper business moves. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257], and those conditions physical and mental, and in the commercial relations, that have to do with the body.
-
In the physical forces of the body, while we find many improvements from that we have had here recently, the disturbing factors are not wholly removed as yet. Still, there is a great deal of improvement. There are the general tendencies of the body to use the energies and vitalities to such an extent as to often, at periods, undo much that has been accomplished. The warnings have been in these directions again and again. Owing to the mental attitude, the financial status, the body tends to drive self when there has been and is too great a strain on the physical forces for their better welfare.
-
We would continue to use occasionally those fumes from the properties that have been given. It would be preferable for this body that the ingredients be used in hot or boiling water, prepared and used in such a way and manner. Therefore, we would have on hand an ounce of each of the following: Oil of Eucalyptus, Tincture of Benzoin, Rectified Oil of Turp, Rectified Creosote. When these are to be used, pour a pint of boiling water into a container of glass or crockery - adding the following ingredients, in this proportion and in this order putting them together; into a spoon:
Oil of Eucalyptol…10 minims, Rectified Creosote…3 minims, Rectified Turp…3 minims, Tincture of Benzoin…15 minims.
-
Then, having the water just boiling, empty the ingredients from the spoon into same - after they have been added in the order named - Then inhale the fumes in nostrils AND in throat. Breathe the fumes into the throat AND nostrils, see? When breathing into the nostrils, hold the mouth shut. When breathing into the throat, open the mouth and leave the nostrils open also - but draw in, much as the inhaling from the steam you see. This should preferably be done just before retiring. These will clarify the conditions of congestion, aiding the soft tissue to remove accumulations, stimulating the circulation, acting as an antiseptic. They will make for better sleep, will cleanse the antrums, the throat, reducing the conditions and making for betterments throughout.
-
Keep occasionally those treatments for the general eliminations; the sweats, the massage, rubdown and GENERAL manipulations. As we find, it is necessary to take these whenever there is a little cold. But do not take such treatments and then go out into the weather, unless the body goes to some operator for the treatments and RESTS sufficient time afterwards for the pores to close - with the protective forces of the rub alcohol and other ingredients that close the pores.
-
Be mindful that the body does not take too much acids in any nature.
-
Keep the eliminations regular, and we will find the physical forces continuing on the improve.
-
Do not burn the candle at both ends.
-
As to the other relationships, the associations as to the activities in the present environs and surroundings, we find that these will be most successful. Not at the first glance, nor will the relationships in the beginning be as satisfactory - but it will be the beginning of a very good association.
-
Regarding the connections with the loans, and the factory relationships, while these take a little time - they are being carried through. Insist upon the citizenship in Asheville and the financial associations making other requests to those in authority that the loans be granted, so that there may be the activities that have been indicated.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Regarding the physical, why does pain still remain in right shoulder? (A) Poisons from a neurotic or, rather, neuritis condition. Poisons in the system. The eliminations not kept; and, as indicated, be mindful of these, that these be eliminated.
-
(Q) Regarding the material, should he go to Asheville, N.C., or to Washington, D.C., to aid his plan going thru to finance factory? (A) It would be well for him to wire or communicate with those in Asheville, and then be in Washington soon after the requests are received there - as we have indicated. And only necessary that there be the proper addresses or associations with those in and through the regular channels, that these be expedited.
-
(Q) Who best for him to see in either place, and how should he proceed - (A) (Interrupting) As indicated. First communicate with the citizenship and the financial associations in Asheville, asking that they insist that the proper directions or considerations be given this loan, see? Then, when such requests from citizens and from the financial interests (and these, of course, are those interested in seeing that this may be completed) arrive in Washington, soon afterwards the body itself my expedite matters by being present - and THROUGH the regular channels, or the groups that are in charge of such from North Carolina and for North Carolina loans, see - that district.
-
(Q) Should [257] see Sen. Reynolds in Washington, and when, and what should he say to urge him to help? (A) This is not so necessary as it would be those in authority of that district (Asheville); let THEM see Reynolds and if necessary, see, let them call [257]. [257] depending upon or putting the faith or trust in those in authority; for to go over someone’s head makes for the lessening of the possibilities - or weakens the case, see?
-
(Q) From present attitude of Mr. Ben Johnson of 1825 - 8th St., N.W., what will outcome of request for loan be? (A) As indicated. The steps have been given as to how to better insure that this be granted.
-
(Q) Will the committee in Charlotte, N.C., forward the application to Washington approved? If so, when? (A) If there are those requests as indicated, as soon as these are received they will be forwarded.
-
(Q) Should [257] endeavor to get an order from Montgomery Ward for radio cabinets and build same either in Asheville or surrounding factories? (A) We would endeavor to get same, and - as we find - will be better at the first to build in surrounding factories, or the portion of same at least.
-
(Q) What factory will build them satisfactorily? (A) That one close in associations with that which has been handled by the body in this vicinity before.
-
(Q) What can [257] do to get the business? (A) Present it in an equitable manner as to his abilities in this direction, as to the capacities of those associations to supply that necessary. Along this line may the business be secured.
-
(Q) Is it safe for [257] to take on the business of Ward’s at present? (A) Safe. If not, we wouldn’t have told him to take it!
-
(Q) Any new development [257] can look after in Chicago while there? (A) Some of the natural developments, and in those lines that aid in the associations that have been indicated.
-
(Q) What is the latest development on the water cooler order in Washington, being handled by Jack Lewis? (A) As given, this is still being held by the appropriations committee in this direction. And, as the seasons change, it should very soon be released for the activity.
-
(Q) Should [257] figure on the new requirements for Quartermaster Department for Furniture to be bought around April 22, 1934? (A) This is near the time told that there would be some opening. Be very well to figure on same. But, as indicated oft to the body respecting the government association, let same go through the regular channels! Do not attempt to use coercion in this direction, connection and association, for the better and the surer developments.
-
(Q) Please tell [257] what progress he has made during past 10 days toward his future successful development in business. (A) These, of course, may be questioned by [257] himself. As we find, the indications are that these are more of the mental than material - save as the associations that may come about in the next day or two, to bring about some specific developments in loans, associations and connections in every channel. But these are VERY, very good.
-
(Q) What pressure can he use to get Croft Brewery Co. of Boston to take the barrels they ordered in Oct. 1933? (A) Only through those same channels that there was the order secured. It is not necessary that they be coerced by the offer of other than that the product will measure up and meet the requirements at this time.
-
(Q) Will [257] be successful in his work on liquor with Louis I. Elliman of Room 1266 Commodore Hotel, N.Y.C.? (A) Not so good. There are some complications there that would not be so satisfactory for [257]. If these are carried out in the way that [257] has set it out, fine! If these are carried out more as some of the other associations desired, it would make complications that would not be well.
-
(Q) What will bring quickest income to [257] of the interests he now has, to keep his family and dependents in life’s necessities? (A) Those associations being made in Chicago, with the interests that have been indicated are well for the body at this time.
-
(Q) What results will [257] receive from the suit mentioned in attached clippings? [Suit filed against Paris Medicine Co. last Monday.] (A) This must of necessity depend upon, as indicated before, how those that handle the case present same to the trustees of this estate; and, as we have said, as we have already given, it will be much better NOT to be opened - of course - by [257] or [257]‘s associates, but settle OUT of court rather than going through. For, as we find, and as we have given before, if the notations that have been given from time to time are considered, this would be the manner to be handled. But let Orr and associates make the approach first in this direction.
-
(Q) Can he work out a new deal on Paris Medicine with Ralph Jonas of 115 B’way? (A) Best that these associations and connections be held up for the present time. Later, as given, this may be done. But do not let such negotiations or such thoughts, interfere or be used against [257] and [257]‘s associations and connections with the suit. For, would there be even the offer to negotiate for this at this time, with this pending as it is set, it would defeat all the purposes - see? Then, it must be cleared before it may be opened again. [See 257-127, Par. R5 and R6.]
Follow those things in the physical, in the material welfare, as we find; and he will have his hands full - but within this present week he should see changes coming that will be the most satisfactory.
- We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/16/34 A. M. on awaking from rdg. 257-130 EC told the following dream he had during the reading: (It is interesting that just before losing consciousness to obtain the rdg. he said he would like to get a rdg. on the work this morning - he just felt like it.)
“I was conscious of the fact of separating my physical self from my soul self, my physical self being encased in a box, like an alabaster or moonstone box, from a material I could not describe. It seemed that the material manifestation of my physical and mental self was in the box. I gave the box to someone and felt, as I gave it, ‘This is one that I can trust,’ [the one then conducting the reading] and then I had the sensation of returning for the box. I knew it had been cared for as it should be, for the best for my mental and physical self.
“I have had the experience before of leaving something with someone (when giving a reading) but never before this have I experienced returning for it.
[When asked how he felt, EC said he felt much better now than he did before giving the reading.]
“The little box was similar to what I imagine the Ark of the Covenant to be. It had a stand on it where it might be set down, or where it might be placed, but I had the feeling that it should not be set aside or laid down, or something foreign might get in it that would not be so well. I felt that it should be cared for and protected.”
[Mildred wondered if the box was anything like a miniature temple. Gladys said she thought the Ark of the Covenant could be likened to the human body, the vehicle that carries the soul and all the sacred things of the entity.]
R2. See also dream EC had on 8/30/33 during 257-119, interpreted under Work Rdg. 254-68 Par. 6-A, in re EC’s psychic gift being dulled by constant business advice to Mr. [257].
R3. 5/4/34 He obtained 257-131.
R4. 8/23/35 He wrote EC reporting on his rdg. 257-154: “Don’t be surprised to receive another list of re-hashed questions soon, for it is better than all the medicine in the world, or all the preachers’ sermons, or all the colleges. To me it is life itself. It gives me courage, faith, health, and the power to go on and on and in spite of all setbacks, holdbacks, misfortunes, or what not. God speaks through you and His will, not mine, will be done, and I must prove His word spoken through you by my actions.”
R5. 4/11/48 GD’s note: Mr. [257] told me tonight:
“I dreamed last night of a white box, apparently empty, that nine men, including myself, were guarding or taking somewhere in a black car.”
GD reminded Mr. [257] of the Edgar Cayce Foundation, Incorporated on 2/19/48, to act as custodian of the Edgar Cayce records, with nine on the board.
