This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of June, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [257], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:45 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Body and enquiring mind, who seeks information, advice and guidance as to his health, his mental and material affairs. Ques.)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257]; this we have had before.
-
In the physical forces of the body, owing to those conditions that have been brought about - regarding the bleeding from conditions that exist in the anus and the sphincter centers, it will be necessary for the body to be rather quiet - as we find; following those suggestions as may be and have been given by those in charge.
-
If the body had done that as indicated, and not had those disturbing conditions and would have followed the diet, this need not have arisen.
-
Hence follow those instructions, then, of the one in charge - and not from here.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is the present physical condition? (A) Needs watching!
-
(Q) Is it advisable for me to travel overnight to Virginia Beach, just Friday and Saturday? (A) As has been indicated, it is BEST for the body’s welfare to keep quiet. Follow the instructions of the physician; NOT from here!
-
(Q) Regarding the [1414] suit and trial coming up Tuesday before Judge Schimmel: Can I expect fair Trial - (A) (Interrupting) Here again we might give the body that we have given thee those warnings, especially as concerning agreements, contracts, etc.
As we find, if there is the right character of presentation of the situation, there may be expected justice; that is, it will require either written agreements to be shown or sufficient of those who by word of mouth may indicate that the situation is ONLY as has been and is presented by [257]; notably, that the condition was so much for a period to give opportunity of activity, and ONLY as a commission for the whole period; the three hundred being as an ADVANCE rather than as payment for ANY salary!
-
(Q) Since Schimmel is a friend of [1414]‘s - (A) (Interrupting) As just has been INDICATED!
-
(Q) Should the Senior or Junior [Alfred] Englander conduct the case before the jury? (A) The Senior Englander. [Oscar Englander]
-
(Q) What witnesses should I call to support my testimony? (A) Those that may support by their hearing the situation as indicated.
-
(Q) Considering the information I now have on hand, will I be able to win this suit? (A) Unless the information is in keeping with that as has just been indicated - there will be trouble!
-
(Q) What special preparation - (A) (Interrupting) As just given. Either the papers to show, or sufficient verbal evidence and the evidence of others working in the same situation, same position - THEIR word, THEIR conditions! All of these must coordinate.
-
(Q) Is there any other advice for me on this subject? (A) Be mindful of the physical condition. Keep quiet. As we find concerning this particular condition - it must be set in order.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/26/38 He wrote: “The polyp from my rectum looked like a wart. The doctor’s injection of malt raised one thousand hives on me, so you see you were right. The rdgs. told me abut diet, but you know how you do when you feel o.k. So you’ve registered again. I am using a suppository. That’s the way we should have put Tim up. It’s so easy and clean to handle. Dr. states it will dry up the hemorrhoids, which ARE small.
“As to [1414], the trial is Tuesday a.m. Because of the rdg. I did not sign an agreement, but we had a definite understanding. The paper I have, signed by him, says it is $300 advance on commission. So we shall see what we see. As God wills it, always… [He requested 1638-1 for his baby nephew.]
“I feel better tonight. I’ve lost a lot of blood. My head has hurt me a lot, but if I can get a few days more of rest I hope to be alright. If I could have only gotten to the Beach and rested I’d have been o.k., but [1414] had me examined, and the doctor advised I’d be o.k. by Tues., so to court I must go to meet a man I befriended when no one would help him - has turned out - so the rdg. can again say, ‘We told you so.’ Fortunately, you advised us to be careful. I was as careful as I could be and had a definite understanding, so it’s up to the justice and the good Lord.”
R2. 7/28/38 & 8/1/38 He requested 759-14 & 759-15 for his son.
R3. 8/1/38 He also obtained for himself 257-198.
R4. 3/7/40 Doctor’s report of finding another polyp in descending colon [See 257-217 Reports] indicates that above surgery for polyp was performed by Dr. Winkelstein.

B1. 4/8/38 He obtained Ck. Physical Rdg. 257-195.
B2. 6/12/38 He obtained Business Rdg. 257-196.
B3. 6/23/38 (Thurs. noon) He phoned questions, saying: “Was all packed to leave yesterday when this thing came up about the trial. Remember the rdg. [257-187] warned about [1414]? He has sued me for $2500 back salary, and he was supposed to be working on commission.
“Was operated on last Monday; had polyp develop. They gave me injection, put malt in the bismuth, then used x-ray - I broke out all over in hives. The doctor said then that I was allergic to malt, alright. [GD’s note: Previous rdgs. had warned of beer and malt liquors.] I’m at home in bed now - lost about 2 qts. of blood. More bleeding every time of stool. If the rdg. says I’m able, I’ll come down [to the Congress] just for Fri. and Sat., as I have to be here Sun. to prepare for the trial. Wire me whether or not I should come, and send full rdg. to me Special so I’ll get it Sun. a.m. Love to all.”
