This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at Phillips Hotel, Room 115, Dayton, Ohio, this 21st day of December, 1923, in accordance with request made by self - [257].

Born April 22, 1893, Lexington, Kentucky. Time of Reading 11:30 A. M. …, Pennsylvania. (Horoscope Suggestion)

1. EC: Now we find the planets or spheres about the earth’s sphere that have to do with the limitations, both to the betterment and the afflictions of the body, irrespective of will force in the present sphere, are those of Neptune first, then Mars, Jupiter, with afflictions of Mercury and Saturn, the Moon affliction direct through earth’s forces, the constellation of Pisces and of Capricorn, and we find these produce a body not of high stature (that is in height) but well developed through all physical forces, and with the ascendency of Mars and the nearer approach to the earth’s plane when in that of Saturn and Uranus forces will be of the greater force and development for this present entity. They have to do in the better forces of earth’s elements, and close to mighty waters, for financial and physical health and strength of the entity, far from those that have to do with minerals or chemicals, for under those, for the space as allotted to the entity for this plane, will be rather afflictions, or working to the detriment of developing, then of assistance in any of those elements that have to do with chemical or mineral forces; but earth’s elements, those of the manufacturing nature from earth’s storehouse, either in textiles, paper, foods, or things, or materials, of such nature.

2. In the coming year the greater forces for this entity will be shown, and the opportunity for development will come at the meridan when the earth’s forces reach this near the 22nd of March, in the coming year. Those of the material nature had best be followed closely in the weeks before, and weeks just following, that period.

3. Those of the spiritual nature in the great forces we find reached through Jupiter, and the Sun’s rays, we see, bring near the meridan of this span for this body. Hence, don’t expect to be long-lived. [GD’s note: He did live to be 74 yrs., though a cancerous condition existed and threatened his life from late 40’s.]

4. Those of the nature pertaining to afflictions in the body; irrespective now of will, we find through Saturn’s forces; that is, the ever desire of the entity’s mental forces to build upon the failure of others and without success to self.

5. In the afflictions of the Moon, with the earth forces, we bring that of self aggrandizement through Venus’ afflictions with the Moon’s position at time of birth. Hence, the affairs of the heart are many, but should be balanced in this coming year, 1924, in Mars’ and Neptune’s forces.

6. One whose mental development, in soul force, would lend to political or state affairs.

7. One who could through the better elements of such, USING WELL, make for its success when self was controlled, and those things that so easily beset through Saturn and Moon’s forces and Mercury element, and controlled and used rather than ALLOWED to control daily walks.

8. One who would also set self well in control of manufacturing of textiles, or of earth’s products.

9. One who must learn to use will force to develop self upon the present sphere. One who has found that the lack of control of self, through the elements that are of the afflictions, has brought disappointments in the present sphere.

10. One who through self may lend much aid to those of Uranus and Septimus forces through contact with those of Neptune and Uranus elements.

11. One who will go far to develop in present sphere after he has passed the 35th year.

12. One who will find that its guides in spirit forces and earth plane are often more correct than the will has allowed the present sphere to be guided in.

13. As to the appearances, we find these:

14. Before this in the plains country of the Saracens, and in this development the entity was among those close to the seashore, and was of the valor men of the country, though not of the war makers; rather the peace makers. [Time of Jesus; see 257-10, 1/11/26.]

15. Before this the entity was in the land where the peoples were become the separate and distinct people, and was of the priesthood of that people, and in that time was he one of those offering strange fire upon the altar. [Nadab, one of the sons of Aaron. See mother’s rdg. 325-63, and others verifying this.] [Ex:6:23] [5502-3, etc.]

16. As to these conditions as brought in the present sphere, we find first:

17. Those that bring the entity’s soul and spirit forces close to the worship of the Jehovah, yet holding itself ever afar from giving of its best, or of its first self, to those natures.

18. In the second that of the strength of the elements necessary for the insight, yet with the first giving that peculiar bend to the insight as not understood by self or others. Hence, the mighty force of will to know self, and understand self, if it would make the best in the present plane.

R2. GD’s note: Early in 1924 he reported that he was in N.Y. and had gotten a temporary job in a haberdasher shop. While he had grown up and been trained in his parents’ grocery store, after his Army life in World War I and his father’s death, he longed for greener fields.

R3. 6/16/24 He wrote that he was now active in a furniture factory making and selling fine cabinets; piano benches, etc:

“I came to N.Y. - on Cold Turkey and not even a lead - and here I am - at the end of 90 days - with a real chance…

“I will just contract for the factory’s output and let it go at that. Selling is my forte, but if we can control the factory and sell, too - it would be wonderful. We have 1000 benches sold last week. I sold Loeser myself - 850 - and there is good profit in them, too.”

R4. He referred Mr. [900] for the first in a long series of rdgs.

R5. 8/4/24 He wrote: “I am Sec’ty-Treas. of the … Corp. and and … Cabinet Co., Sales Mgr. of …, also of … of Chicago and now buying another factory tomorrow - The … Cabinet Co. We are making fine loud speakers and fine radio cabinets. I have 12 salesmen and 20 men under me and a big opportunity… I was offered $10,000 a yr. to leave my firm and refused it. Brothers [4162] and [2653] are with me. If I have good luck I’ll be out of debt this year.” [The debts were of his father’s expanding business when he died, etc.]

R6. 9/2/24 See 900-2, Par. 15-A—19-A in re associations of [900], [257] and [294] in the Edgar Cayce work.

R7. 9/15/24 He wrote: “My last month’s business was over $25,000

• that I did beside what [4162] and my other salesmen did.”

R8. 11/20/24 He wrote: “My work has been very interesting - today am General Sales Mgr. of all the factories. I have a Sec’ty and two assistants, besides a bookkeeper. I also pass on all the credits of the firm. The last reading has come as you said it would. [Perhaps he obtained a rdg. from EC when he was in N.Y. of which we have no copy?] My sales have amounted to over 300,000.00 for the past six weeks... so in Jan. or Feb. I should draw about 15,000 or $20,000…

“[900] has tried to get me to play the stock market, but acting on your former advice I’ve laid off…

“Judge, I’m the happiest of all my ‘7’ years since I’m near the big body of water, and I must make good for your sake and mine.

“March 25, 1917 I left Ky., March 25,1924 I arrived in my new position (March 19, 1924) - present work - so the mystic 7 is at work…

“Judge, a day never passes unless I speak of you and think of you - and we will win yet.”

R9. 12/13/24 He referred Miss [903] for her first rdg., 903-1. [He later married her - in 1927!]

R10. 3/28/25 He wrote: “With sister [558] getting married in the West and friend, [900] in the East, it kinda makes me shake a little bit. You will note, however, that you don’t get letters postmarked Baltimore from me. They say that he who runs away [from marriage], etc., but that’s all right. I am taking no chances…

“As to the financial end, let me know what your plans are in this respect and I will endeavor during this year to do something. Last year I was successful in paying my father’s estate and now I only have one other matter to finish up and and that is the real estate. There is not a great deal outstanding on that at this time and I hope in the next five or six months to be able to clear all that up… [He reported on reading 85-1.]

“Many times I long for you just to sit down and talk our personal affairs over as we used to do and believe me, I shall not feel that my life’s work is accomplished until we are again together where we can do these things together.

“I wish you would not be so particular about writing letters because it got so I did not even write my mother [325]. Had to bring her here. You will find the whole crowd on your next trip all ready to receive you…

“My life in N.Y. has followed along the same lines as we have always discussed and there is no doubt that I work best where there are big bodies of water. I am now living on the Hudson River which is practically the Atlantic Ocean, and it thrills me me every time I see it. It seems to instill a desire within me to do big things and I hope that this year sees me through.”

R11. 12/27/25 He wrote: “You need not have me tell you, I think and talk of you every day, everywhere. Of late I’ve been so worried with the natural expansion of the business I’ve had very little time to myself. I’ve now reached the limit of the horoscope [257-5]. I was reading it to Mother [325] last night. It was taken 12/21/23, and it said my good year would start about 3/22/24 and proceed until my 35th which would be my best. On 3/19/24 I went into furnishings. You said I would make good in manufacturing from nature’s storehouse - paper - textiles. Well, wood certainly is in the earth and the earth is nature’s storehouse, no doubt, eh? Well, Judge, my first sale for our biggest factory was yesterday - 97,000. I am to sell Carolina Wood Products from now on in addition to my other work. Pretty soon I'll be strong enough to introduce you into the firm in a way already proven. My life will be the proof, God willing. The firm bought for me a policy of 25,000 payable to Mother…

This is my first day at home in seven months - Sunday - can you imagine it? I leave before the family gets up and usually home at bedtime, but I’m happy, as I see results, and from the readings believe I’m going to make it.”

R12. 1/1/26 EC’s letter: “I am glad that you are still able to see some good in the suggestions as were given you in the rdg. of 12/21/23. I am in hopes that when you are here we will be able to make another that will be quite as helpful as this has been and prove just as true, with perhaps ten-fold more possibilities to build on the labors of the last two years.”

R13. 1/3/26 Mr. [257] wrote: “Well, Judge, if I tell you all now [in this letter], I’ll have to repeat when I see you. Wonderful lessons I’ve learned, Judge, and now I must go back to my ‘teachers’ and tell him. You’ve taught me more than all the schools I’ve attended, and your words awake and asleep have pushed me ten years further along, and safer.”
