GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes - we have the body here: [2582]; this we have had before.
-
Conditions have improved a great deal, and then there have been those periods when apparently there was a great deal of relapsing, or a lapsing into greater distresses along the same line.
-
But we find that rather close adherence at regular periods to those general treatments indicated would keep the body in a much better balance.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes tense feeling in forehead over eyes at times? (A) Stress or strain in the centers along the upper portion of the dorsal and cervical areas, and a tension through the lumbar and sacral areas. Thus the massages and the activities should bring better conditions.
-
(Q) What caused frequent sore throat during last December - and if this recurs, what remedy suggested? (A) Too much acidity in the system. Lack of sufficient of the balance in the lactics and acids in the body-digestive forces. This began by cold and congestion, and then the adding of that to the system to depress or to prevent infectious forces, and a great deal of the resulting condition has been the attempting to eliminate these poisons from the body.
We find that the addition of the vital forces or vitamins in the form of KalDak with milk, for this body, once a day, should in the course of two to three weeks cause a great change in these directions. Leave off for ten days to two weeks, and then take about every other day, a heaping teaspoonful dissolved in a little hot water and then the glass filled with whole milk.
-
(Q) Should Atomidine and Adiron be continued? (A) Leave these off in the present.
-
(Q) Will Curley Calpanas tablets prevent my hair from turning gray? If not, will any other tablets prevent this? (A) No; this will not prevent hair from turning gray. Rather we would use the massage in the hair of a small quantity of crude oil, followed by a good shampoo, and occasionally the massaging of a small quantity of pure hog lard into the scalp and leaving it overnight - just before the shampoo. This will not make the hair too oily, but will make for better conditions.
-
(Q) Is my present prescription for eyeglasses correct? (A) This is very good in the present.
-
(Q) Will my new eyeglasses in the new frames prove harmful? (A) They should not.
-
(Q) I am considering for dental work Doctors Magner, Brazinshy or Murphy. Whom do you suggest? (A) Magner.
-
(Q) Shall I take Mr. Lowell’s treatments? If not, what course of such treatments do you suggest? (A) We would take the general course of treatments as we have outlined for this body. These will prove much more efficacious for the body than the use of Dr. Lowell’s.
-
(Q) Since diet has not caused hair on lips to diminish, is there anything which will prevent this that can be used externally? Will cutting or bleaching increase growth? (A) Do not shave off, do not attempt to bleach or dye, but use this mixture:
Cocoa Butter…3 drams, Calomel…2 grains, Epsom Salts…20 grains.
Mix these thoroughly, as with mortise and pestle. Massage this ointment gently in the areas where there are the disturbances from superfluous hair, and after leaving on for fifteen to twenty minutes, rub off. This used as an ointment will remove hair without injury to the body. To be sure, mercury is in the calomel, and this is a poison, but with this combination and in this quantity there is not sufficient for a body to absorb enough to become detrimental to the body-forces. After this is used, as the base for a better skin condition use the Genuine Black and White Cream.
-
(Q) Where shall I spend vacation this summer to obtain most benefits? (A) Where there is the sand and sea and pines, or where there is the social activity which is in keeping with the hopes and desires of the body. But, wherever these would be much better for the body, so there will be sand, sea, water, pines. A great deal of the ultra-violet rays will be well for the body, but not too much of same.
-
(Q) Is bowling good exercise for me? What type and how much exercise would you suggest for me? (A) If only the small balls are used, it is good exercise for the body. Walking is the best exercise.

R1. 2/18/46 [2582]‘s letter to GD:
Dear Gladys:
I’ve meaning to write you for months and months. So much has happened in the past year I’m just beginning to catch up on writing old friends. Mr. Cayce’s death was a terrific shock to me because I didn’t even know he had been ill. I did hear that he had gone to Florida for a rest but didn’t have any idea his condition was so serious. Mrs. Ganey called and told me about Mrs. Cayce. That too was a blow as I didn’t know she was seriously ill. All I could think about was how sad it was for Hugh Lynn to be overseas and to come home to find both parents gone. There is no question but that Mr. Cayce overworked these last years. And what of those poor souls who relied on his help. If it had such a crushing effect on me what could it mean to those who had serious ailments. And I also wondered how you were enduring such a personal loss. I really though so much of you, Gladys, but it is so difficult to put such thoughts in words.
The greatest blow of my life came last year also. My father died very suddenly on March 10th. He was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage while on his way home from the office and died in the hospital four hors later without recovering consciousness. We are such a very small family, my mother, sister and myself, we miss him very much. He was very young looking, and very active in his work, so that it was hard to realize he was sixty. My mother has a lot of courage and she has been an inspiration so that we have been managing pretty well.
I enjoyed the diary letters and you did a splendid job on this. I forgot to subscribe to the bulletin, etc so am forwarding my order and check now. We went to New York for a few days in November and saw the Sugrues. They are getting along fine, Tom seems to be in fine spirits, Mary looks better and Miss Patsy is growing very tall and is quite the young lady. I’m anxiously awaiting the publication of the new book. Did you see the wonderful spread in the current Life. Looks like Tom is going to have a best seller for sure.
Please give my very best regards to those I knew in the Association and also to Hugh Lynn and his wife. I know how voluminous are your duties so I don’t expect a reply to this.
Affectionately, [2582]
R2. 8/4/48 HLC’s letter to [2582]:
Miss [2582] Washington, D.C.
Dear [2582]:
It has been too long since we heard from you.
In considering the renewal of your membership in the Association, I want to take this opportunity to explain the Active membership status.
Our work of indexing and extracting from the records left by Edgar Cayce is progressing. More and more material is being made available through publications, lectures, group study, etc. I believe you would like to continue your interest in this work, feeling as we do, that much good can come to many people through giving out that which has proven helpful in thousands of individual readings. One of the most direct ways to help at this time is to be an Active member.
Just what is an Active member? you ask. What do I do? What do I receive? The enclosed membership application blank will answer these questions in part, but let me explain more concretely.
It is the Active members in the Association who make it possible to plan extensions of our services. Consider the physical readings. Dr. Henry George III of Wilmington, Del. has gotten results in a number of epilepsy cases which have come to him recently by following systems of treatment outlined in the readings. Dr. H. J. Reilly of New York has successfully applied treatments outlined for arthritis for a number of individuals who have not had readings. These studies and results must be made available to more and more members and physicians.
Equally important are the comparative studies which are developing in such different fields, such as metaphysical groups interested in life after death, church groups interested in Christian mysticism, and universities concerned with examples of extra-sensory perception.
We are having an increasingly important part in making larger numbers of people aware of the relationship which exists in all of these fields and their fundamental spiritual principles relating to everyday living. This is the kind of program I know you are interested in supporting.
Active members are their own judges as to the amount of time, thought and effort they give to helping develop the various activities. Our program is broad, free in spirit and purpose
- in a word - cooperative.
Of course, we will welcome your interest and support as a continuing Associate member, subscribing to any or all of the regular publications, but I did want you to understand the opportunities presented through the Active membership.
At the first opportunity, visit us here at the Headquarters. It would be good to see and have a chat with you again. So many things have happened since the last time we met.
I had a letter from Tom just a day or so ago. He is in Clearwater Beach, resting after a pretty hard winter. He, Mary and Patsy are all well.
Sincerely,
Hugh Lynn Cayce [HLC/dm] Encls.
