This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of October, 1941, in accordance with request made by the grandmother, Mrs. [2174], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now called [2607].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them here, for this entity these would be chosen to be given in the present. Then with the periods of accountability, more of the appearances may be indicated for the entity - if there is the following of those suggestions as may be indicated as counsel or advice to those responsible for the entity’s appearance in this experience.

4. For, the entity is one concerning whom precautions should be taken in the mental and spiritual development.

5. One that will be inclined to be quiet, rather than loud.

6. One that with its manners will ingratiate itself to all who may come in contact with same.

7. The entity is one that will not complain a great deal. And when there is complaint, know there are material disturbances regarding the entity.

8. Then, the entity should be protected from its own self, from allowing itself to be imposed upon, after its second, third or fourth year.

9. One that should be a musician, a collaborator with Franz Liszt; who is now about a year older, as will be seen [2584-1]. Their collaboration should bring UNUSUAL character of music, as related especially to their own country - here - now.

10. These developments should begin, then, with the early experiences of the entity. And there will be the natural attraction to music, especially the piano and stringed instruments; while the horn will produce rather a shudder in the beginning for the entity.

11. As a composer of writer, and a collaborator, then, should be the activities of the entity; and these should be begun as early as there is the awareness.

12. Let the entity, then, be nursed to music. Let it be as part of its environ almost daily.

13. These as we find should be the cares and attentions.

14. As to the warnings, then:

15. Beware of those tendencies for becoming self-conscious, or of assuming a complex.

16. Hence the entity should never be scolded. While it should be corrected, to be sure, reason with the entity rather than scold or punish in the ordinary manner.

17. Assist the entity in drawing on its imagination for those influences as of the spirit of music in all its phases. Also there should be the cares taken as to the spiritual development, and the visions that should become an early part of the experience of the entity in its awarenesses.

18. It would be well also that those conditions as to the hands and the extremities, as to accidents, and those inclinations for the throat disturbance, be watched carefully.

19. Do these and we will bring to the periods of awareness, of development, the background, the beginnings, the foundations of a musical career that may not be surpassed for a generation or more.

20. In astrological aspects, - Venus, Mercury, Jupiter all become a portion of the experience. The beauties of nature, of music, of color, tonal sounds, all become a part of the experience; as also judgements. However, as indicated, the entity will be inclined towards backwardness.

21. Not that it should be over forward, but there should be the complimentary activities and associations.

22. The entity will NOT be easily spoiled, until after the twelfth year.

23. As to the appearances, - these, as indicated, would be better given as the entity begins to make practical application of the background begun in the manner indicated.

R1. Franz Liszt is now little [2584], born October 2, 1941. His grandmother, Mrs. [1663], had the Life Reading for him.

R2. 10/24/41 Grandmother Mrs. [2174]‘s letter: “What a lovely reading! How things do weave and interweave. I can see why [2607] came to [2425].”

R3. 10/27/41 Mother [2425]‘s letter: “I have received the reading from Mrs. [2174]. Valuing you and your work and the Association above all things, I must tell you this which is in my mind and then if I am under a false impression you can put me right. You are of such tremendous significance in our life, in the life of our child, and shall continue to be. Mrs. [2174] wrote for the reading but it so happens that I had not done so before myself for several reasons, and this material was put into her hands without the knowledge or the consent of the parents. [2627] is [2607]‘s father and he is, as you will come to know, a person of great stature. I would never make any decision without his agreement and we had not been settled long enough with the new-born one for him to reach this step. I was preparing myself and him for handling rightly such a tremendous thing. To me, when such power is put into our hands - as we receive from you - we have to approach it and use it with infinite care, especially when it concerns a child for whom we are the ones to interpret and use the information. Before I had it done I had to be sure that I was not prompted by curiosity, that I was not indulging myself for my own pleasure, but that my motives were utterly sound and true. Such as you give can so easily be desired for false and [?] reasons. I do not approve of anyone seeing the readings of children (except when names are omitted) except for a real purpose - except when parents might want consultation concerning it with some person whom they see fit; otherwise we would be playing with a thing which is not to be played with. It is given to us solely for the guidance of the child. I telegraphed Mrs. [2174] immediately to say nothing of it to anyone and she was perturbed and could not understand my request. Many people would mishandle the information and bring pressure to bear on the child with their knowledge. To me it is to be used discreetly, for he will grow and develop joyously and undisturbed. So many people might intimate things to him which would perturb him. The reading says to beware of complex and self-consciousness and of him being imposed on. The less emotional tension and excitement then is within this family and surrounding him the better he will be, the less he will be disturbed. We must guard him from exploitation. How many people have seen the reading I do not know, but it remains private unless there is good reason for doing otherwise. His father has been away since I received the reading, and so I speak solely on my own behalf. I must tell you this, my dear Mr. Cayce, altho I feel sure that you thought the reading was being given with our consent. Only good will come of this and I am thanking God for this divine guidance and praying that we may be able to fulfil our responsibility and that we will not fail to use every ability we have and give the very greatest we have to give. I have been singing to him from his birth - you see, I have studied singing, piano and music a very great deal and it has been one of the most dominant notes in my life.

“When he cries a song immediately calms him - and I have an excellent phonograph and a fine collection of records. He is an extraordinarily awake child, he looks from one person to another - smiles and has the most amazing muscular coordination for one so young. He was always on show at the hospital and all the nurses were in love with him. He is beautiful and how radiant he will make our lives. He is our songster - the one to bring music to our lives - this [2607].”

R4. 11/20/41 See father’s reading 2627-1, Par. 56-A, regarding past relationships in Rome with son, [2607], when the son was in authority over [2627]; also associations in Atlantis-Egypt, “as well as a Persian experience not urging the entity in the present.”

B1. 10/5/41 Paternal grandmother [2174]‘s letter: “I am so sorry I upset you and yours as thoroughly as I seem to have done, and you probably called off a reading for us. But we feel that you helped anyway just by knowing. I told [2425] that I had called you and she seemed to feel that my guess was right. Anyway, she says her morale was very low that night and that it began to pick up about eleven or so and with that the baby really began to come. Anyway, we are grateful for all and everything. The baby weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and is a beauty - strong - well formed - healthy - and a nose like my son’s (unfortunately for his perfect looks). [2425] sits in her bed with a pixy look of victory and says she is going to have a big family. It is all a lovely picture and I hated to leave it but duty called and I am knee deep in Shakespeare and children with an insoluble time problem that will probably work out nicely.

“[2425] wants a Reading for [2607] - the babe - my grandson. You can do it any time. I think he is a remarkable child but I MAY be prejudiced.”
