This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of March, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2174], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will have before you the entity [2174], present in this room, who seeks a continuation of her mental and spiritual Reading begun on January 29, 1941, that from the circle which is her life’s seal there may radiate those thoughts, feelings and actions which serve His purpose with the children of men in these difficult times. You will continue this discourse and answer the questions which she submits.

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity here, [2174]; with the information which has been given through these sources.

3. In continuing with that indicated, - the seal is to be put into practical, everyday application; ministering in those manners given to those with whom the entity comes in contact - every day, in every way.

4. Considering the problems of the times, and those that are a portion of the entity’s experience, - each entity - as this entity - has a part to play, as it were, in meeting those varied problems that are arising; not only in the minds and experiences of those who are as companions, associates, friends, but - with this entity - in the lives and activities of many who are to be the leaders, the instructors, the guiding lights for the future generations. For, it is such groups who adhere to those tenets, those principles as have been indicated in that given, that are to lead peoples - everywhere - to the knowledge of the closeness, the oneness as may be attained in so doing.

5. There are those activities that will bring such awarenesses, by the own force and power of might as set in motion by all the characters of influences that go to make up those problems and activities of the entity.

6. Yet with that singleness of purpose which has prompted those activities in the past, there will open many a door for the sustaining help - in the mental as well as in the material ways.

7. Such help, as we find, comes by the very sincerity of purpose; which, as has been indicated, is given and IS activative in the life of this entity.

8. The circle indicates that oneness, that completeness, that full appreciation of all the varied aspects of experiences in the lives of individuals.

9. Hold to that knowledge that life in all its aspects is a manifestation of the Father’s love for His children who SEEK His face.

10. “Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto thee” is not merely an axiom, a saying, but it is an experience that may be the knowledge, the wisdom, the understanding of those who oft put themselves into His keeping, His direction, and are guided thereby; being guarded in all things day by day.

11. Ready for questions.

12. (Q) Please advise how I may better, through analysis, free myself as a channel? (A) This may be done in many ways. But these as we find are the better manners of expression:

Analyze self as to purposes, as to intents, - as in comparison with that for which He came into the earth. For, each entity - and this in particular - must find, even as He, that in the doing for others there comes the answer to the problems for self; in every direction.

For, as has been given, though He were the Son - even He learned obedience.

So may we, each, as individuals, gain the better understanding, the better way of material and mental application, by that study of self in relationships to our purposes, our intents being in keeping with that manifested by Him.

As was given of old, if He had not come, many would not have known sin; yea, none would have known sin. If He had not come, many would not have known - yea, none - complete righteousness.

So we each in our lives bring those problems in the experiences of those we meet day by day; thus forming that pattern, that activity in the lives of others, that brings the complete awareness of each soul’s ability to be in at-onement with Him.

Thus atonement, at-onement, attunement become as one in intent, in purpose, in desire, in activity.

13. (Q) Regarding the imminent and ever present school problem, where many people are looking to me for their security and future, - why do I meet block after block? (A) In analyzing that which has just been given; as to how self has ever present the awareness of that which is the problem, and that which is truth.

So, in undertakings in the material ways, the same pattern is found ever present - and the same angle of experiences.

These activities as we find MUST go on. As given in the parlance of some, “the show MUST go on.”

Not that due consideration is not to be given to all the problems - materially, financially, socially, and the problems of those who because of one reason or another have reached those stages of their OWN development where they become hangers-on rather than boosters or helpers, or props, or securities in any sense, - but seek among those who have been associated with the environs of the school building - or properties themselves - for the MATERIAL aid that would lessen the burdens of material possibilities and material conditions in the present.

Not that the responsibility of the entity would be lessened, but rather let LOOSE of those conditions that are building the blocks in the carrying on among some of the associates and assistants.

To be sure, at the moment - or at first, this appears to be a disabusing of the policies that have been a part of the entity thus far. But these are periods when all must cooperate in meeting the emergencies that arise in the experiences of the many.

And this will not only gradually release for self but for others that which has been, to some of them, a stumblingblock in THEIR inner self.

14. (Q) Is there anything more that I can or should do which will bring the necessary funds to assure the faculty of the … School of a continuance of activity next year? (A) Through the channels just indicated there may be reached broader fields.

15. (Q) Can you make this just a little clearer to me? (A) As this is analyzed, the entity will be aware of the individuals referred to; not merely the family - or of the individuals now a part of the school problem, but those families TO whom, THROUGH whom, the place, the grounds have meant much - and did mean much.

16. (Q) As indicated in my Reading of April 1940, abundant funds for the school would come within the year. What is the block which has prevented this coming about, and what may I do to open the way? (A) Making the needs known!

17. (Q) The problem of working with […] [Miss […]] in the … School is becoming increasingly difficult. Please advise me in detail just how I may best handle this situation? (A) As has been indicated, this must be taken into due consideration. And with the supplying of funds through channels as may become a part of the whole activity, there will come answers as to how best to meet this problem.

18. (Q) Please advise me how I may help to save those things which are good in the group that now forms the … School. (A) By putting into daily practice those principles that hold or bind them together in relationships to conditions about each of the groups, see?

This has been more in the order of one dependent upon another, and another upon the group; and not altogether made applicable in daily associations in OTHER connections, see?

19. (Q) Is my mind too busy to “think through” what my heart should understand? (A) No. It is rather a matter of putting the stress on the various problems in their order, see?

20. (Q) Is my lack of definite decision due to my desire to have my son […] finish in his present school picture? (A) No; rather the confusion as to what others are beginning to think and say.

Of course, these are conditions that are to be passed over; not passed by. For they become the definite determining factors in self, - that is, as to how far-reaching this whole activity is to be; as to intents, as to purposes; and that even without the self, the whole idea, the whole of the good is to be CONTINUOUSLY evolving throughout the experiences of the coming generations.

21. (Q) Please explain the difference between laying all on Him, and through inaction shirking one’s task, and seeking thru action to find His way. (A) It is like that just indicated, - as to how one analyses self in regard to any given problem or condition.

What is the purpose in the individual or self’s relationship! Is it that there may be gratified an idea in self, or to be WITHOUT self to the glory of GOOD as in Him?

Or, to put in another manner: To lay all on Him is to be willing to say in self, “Not my will but Thine be done. Use me as THOU seest fit.” While, working out to His glory in self is, “Lord, I am willing - but let me tell you how!”

22. (Q) Is my inactivity due to lack of confidence in myself, enhanced by the palpable insecurity of the group? How may I get a clearer perception of His will? (A) Enter into the better communion with Him, IN the within-self. This will give the better understanding, the better awakening.

23. (Q) I have used service as love’s symbol, but somewhere have missed. Where? (A) WHO is to find fault? He did not! He does not! He only gives, ever, - “Listen - listen to that within - I will speak and direct the way.”

Reserve nothing within, - as to purpose, as to individuality or as to personality; but wholly for love, for service. For, “He that will be the greatest among you will be the servant of all.”

24. (Q) How may I know when the will to a course of action is justifiable, or when I am forcing my own personal will which may lead to inaction which is equally unjustifiable? (A) By the listening within - there is the answer. For, the answer to every problem, the answer to know His way, is ever within - the answering within to that real desire, that real purpose which motivates activity in the individual.

These appear at times to become contradictory, of course; but know - as the illustration has been used here - attunement, atonement and at-onement are ONE; just as the inner self is that portion of the infinite, while the self-will or personality is ever at war with the infinite within - for the lack of what may be called stamina, faith, patience or what not. Yet each entity, each soul, knows within when it is in an at-onement.

R1. 3/21/41 She requested a Life Reading for Mr. [2476], saying: “The emotional impact of your readings and […] [son]‘s courage has left me worn out. However, that is temporary - and life marches on - yes, truly.”

R2. 4/1/41 Letter from EC to Mrs. [2174]: “And how are you this nice rainy April morning - Had the request for the reading for Mr. [2476] - didn’t get it on time as we have all been in a whirl round here, one with the measles, another with the flu and of course the cook sick - with Gertrude away. But do hope Mr. [2476] finds it not only of interest but most helpful to him. Nice of you to think of us and let us hear from you even when you have a vacation - must be fine up there on the farm. And how are the folks there? All fine I hope. Haven’t seen or heard from [B…] [your son] since you were here possibly when the weather is better will hear from him -

“Hope everything is fine with you, let us hear when ever you find time.”

R3. 5/7/41 She referred Miss [2559] for her Life Reading.

R4. 7/9/41 Letter written in Blackstone Hotel, Tyler, Texas: “My dear friend. This is the most fascinating thing I have ever tackled, [See 1561-19 Reports]. Fantastic, unbelievable and has renewed my faith in the pattern of ids [?] needed renewing.

“Pray for me for things are popping and I seem to be focused upon. May I bring it through right. Its a late to tell not to with and anyway just now it would have to be in serial form. [sic]

“But to you I must say that I have NO IDEA when I will be able to leave and I must stay until the last gun is fired but I shall come by to pick you up and report this melodrama. It is unbelievable and mostly because a busy oil man became human & cared.

“My love to you all - I think of my halo often and the grey in it. I haven’t blessed anyone out in weeks.

“Did you see my halo when you first met me? I wear it rather proudly in imagination.”

R5. 7/15/41 Letter from EC to Mrs. [2174]: “Good to hear from you and to know you are finding things so interesting - and exciting out there just hope and pray all works out to the entire satisfaction of all.

“Am sure you are equal to every emergency that may arise, but let’s hope everything will keep you with your faith in the consistency of God’s plans for us all. The pattern about you and your aura - seemed to say much that could never be said before a group or crowd - no oh no there wasn’t too much grey in it. Enough to say - make it all exciting and fascinating

• this game of life.

“Something like I like to think of as being in the life of some of the old saints like Moses and Joshua, who with their halos frightened some people, yet were those who could be touched by those about them.

“Some of the family are coming this next week - sisters from Tenn. so will be held here anyway. Do hope can arrange to have a few days when you come by, would like that most of most anything. Am expecting we will go if we may so will be disappointed if we can’t.

“All are well here - busy as can be - Miss Gladys had her tonsils out last Friday - but back at work today - think she has gotten on nicely.

“All send love - please remember me to all out that way and keep well and most of all happy.”

R6. 7/22/41 Letter from [2174] from The Chapman Park Hotel and Spanish Bungalows, Los Angeles: “Thanks for your letter. I am trying hard to keep an even keel in rather muddied waters. Some days I know that the mere search for money is not worth what I have met and I want to chuck it all and go home content to loose all I have put in the venture - and then I know that it is not only the search for material things that has sent me to Texas - that I am the only one who can straighten out this problem - and strangely partly because I am as I am but also partly because I am a woman. It is a strange story I will have to tell - and probably I can never tell it all because the muddied waters are not where you would expect to find them in the oil game - but in the corporation group - I feel that of all motions [motives?] were known it would be only a sincere determination plus stupidity - I like to think that. How devious are the trails into peoples minds.

“You see I am in Los Angeles - that was to see [443]. If any money is to come out of this I MUST stay. What adventures I do get myself into. When I think of my other commitments I pray that I am choosing right. Certain absurd coincidences seem to state that it is GOOD. You had doubts didn’t you or you would not have written as you did. Please help me to see straight with your thoughts.

“My love to you all - I’ll turn up when I turn up. May it be sooner than later.

“I start for Tyler today. Please write me Blackstone Hotel, Tyler.”

R7. 7/25/41 Letter from EC: “Thanks very much for yours of the 22nd - no am not surprised to hear you are in Cal. do not know whether you read the first rdgs. we ever had on this property or not, but if you did think you remember there was an indication that some such circumstance might occur in the operations - you are right - there is no one qualified to see this through, as you are that you are willing is the most marvelous thing ever heard of, and that you have taken hold - do hope you will for some of those interested see it through, and May HIS Blessings attend you every step of the way. Such things make me wonder, cause some am sure to sit back and think I know a lot - that I really do not know, for certainly never know who will and who won’t do that as is justice to the whole regardless of themselves.

“Will be most anxious to hear the whole story - and will eagerly look forward to hearing it when you have the chance.”

R8. 10/5/41 She requested a Life Reading for her baby grandson, [2607].

R9. 10/13/41 Letter from EC: “Have been trying to write you ever since you phoned and your wire - but this getting a son married is new to us, and we have been busy besides. Never was so happy about anything as [2425] getting along alright had such a lovely letter from her asking for a rdg. about no supply of milk for baby, and was leaving in few minutes for the wedding - but wrote her and gave her a bit of advice and received wire from her today saying ‘Thank you Thank you there is an abundance’. [2425] and [2607] now wasn’t that lovely well there is very definitely help in Prayer. All praise to HIM.

“Am making the appointment for the baby’s reading [See 2607-1] for the morning of the 20th that is a week from this morning, will possibly be better than waiting until we are up there, as don’t know as yet just when that will be, but will let you know soon as H. L. gets back home will begin to plan the trip some way or time.

“H. L. was married on the 10th at noon, in Stovall, N.C. Gertrude and I went down on the day before, E. E. was allowed to come to the wedding, then on home so we had to carry him back to S.C. Saturday. just got in last evening late. H. L. and Sally will be home next week sometime then we can plan the trip - think we will drive as when we move it is like taking the household and office along.

“Thank you a thousand times.

“Hope all is well at the school and everything moving as you would like to have it.

“All send love and thanks.

“Any word from Texas?”

R10. 10/24/41 Letter from [2174]: “What a lovely reading! [Copied into 2607-1 Reports] How things do weave and interweave. I can see why [2607] came to [2425].

“You SHOULD be pleased that both [2425] and I turned to you as we did.

“[2091] is back from Texas having accomplished nothing and with the feeling helped on by the lawyer [See 1561-19 Reports] that all my late of a contract is just nothing. You see they have been asking around (which is just what they shouldn’t do) and can leave nothing. Myers [R. T. Myers] wrote me they were talking too much and that he would not be seen around with them because it was safer. Why is there so little faith in this world. Do they think that I am simple enough to be fooled for a whole summer all over the United States or that Myers & Marques [Geo. L. Marques] would spend all that time fooling me? Perhaps I am - but I am going to see it through whether or no. The following telegram came this evening about my own leave with Myers.

“‘Would you sell deep rights for nice profit? Believe pipe will be cleared soon regards R. L. Myers.’ That’s rather a momentous decision to make and I could probably clear my loan - but somehow the loan does not bother [?] me - anyway my mind is working hard on that one. When the pipe comes my well goes down - may it be soon!! Just to know.

“About the school - I don’t know ask me something simple. I should say in basic trends it is good - in immediacies help - help. I am learning magic - at moments I am nowhere around - just vanished in spite of appearances. My coaching and teaching is good - I am negative [?] to my finger tips said she modestly. Fun? Complete. Do you know I am teaching six hours a day and still going strong at the end of two weeks.

“Re Texas again Marquess is due in N.Y.C. soon and I shall shake him free of all information he possesses - then review the landscape - am not inclined to move until after Mars goes direct Nov. 5th.”

R11. 11/2/41 letter from [2174]: “I certainly am busy - life seems to roll things to my door - activity things - busy things - creative things. But never more than I can handle and they dovetail strangely. Even so there is an underlying peace - or faith or something. Only I had hoped that I might be able to turn a certain spiritual touch to a more definite and direct contact. That must of course be earned and there may be many ways - only a little more quiet time had seemed to me essential. I don’t know, things seem in the right direction. Patience is time and time is patience. It is all interesting.

“Re Texas: Who am I that I should save these people from themselves of course I can only do it by following my path as I see it and the rest takes care of itself.

“My husband has just come and gone - he seems more peaceful - completely wrapped up in his job - he was only here about ten hours.”

R12. 11/10/41 See her male secretary’s Life Reading, 2615-1, Par. 55-A regarding their past associations in Palestine, and that there should be close associations in purposes this time.
