This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of January, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [263], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:45 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Virginia.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [263]; this we have had before.

3. Unless the body takes those precautions in building up some resistance in the body, through the manners that have been indicated, the body cannot expect to improve the general condition. We refer not only to the watching of digestion and the assimilation, but the adding of those vitamins and vital forces necessary in the diet, in the use of the various elements, - as B-1, B-2, and the iron, and all of those elements; and these may be best taken in the foods. But it would be well also to take some reinforcements - in such as Zyrone, for this body.

4. These will add to the body mentally, - that is, in the ability of the body mentally to WANT to, before it may accomplish anything! Don’t begin to feel sorry for self. Don’t begin to condemn others, - not that the body does this openly, but deep within self, - in any way or manner. Fill thy part while we have the opportunity.

5. Ready for questions.

6. (Q) What is cause of severe headaches, face and ear, top of head, and blindness of eyes? (A) Lack of vital forces or energies in the body, and the WILL of the body to keep a better coordinating in the body.

7. (Q) Tightness in throat and severe colds? (A) This is superacidity in the system, and - as indicated - there must be better eliminations and better assimilations, and these may be accomplished most by the MIND of the body AND the use of the diet and the activity of those properties indicated.

Of course, the use of the electrically driven vibrator massage, - or even occasionally a thorough relaxing osteopathically, - not a stimulating treatment for this body, but relaxing treatment, - would be well. This would be done by such as Irvin, [C. W. Irvin, D.O.] - but should be relaxing, NOT stimulating!

8. (Q) Are my lungs affected in any way? (A) What part is NOT affected, when the MIND lacks the incentive - or when there is the inability to WANT to do things?

9. (Q) What can be done for kidney ailment? (A) There’s no disturbance other than sympathetic. This becomes sparse and has caused discharge at times, but these are only sympathetic conditions as yet. If the diets, the activities, and the will and purpose are set, better conditions may come about.

R1. 1/4/43 GD’s note: Zyrone is a vitamin preparation - liquid - put out by the Wine of Cardui people, - The Chattanooga Medicine Co., Chattanooga, Tenn. This was also suggested for Mrs. [1223], - you might ask her where she obtained hers.

R2. 2/19/43 Her letter to EC, who was then Sec’ty of the A.R.E. Prayer Group:

“[1467] and I are trying very hard to ‘Condemn no one. Love all. Do good,’ so please if I miss the meditation period do not drop our names. We of all need this for our daily contacts with friends and foes at this awful time… You know you and God have helped us, so I needn’t answer that question on the form.”

R3. 2/20/43 EC wrote: “You may be very sure we will always keep you and [1467] on the prayer list as long as you indicate that you wish to be kept there. You know, this is very much like the preacher, I imagine, who may have names on the church book whom he never sees in person at church. He may even hear they are doing alright, yet there is a lost feeling if he never sees them in church or hears from them direct. See what I mean? You know I am not questioning you, merely saying how it looks to the fellow up the tree.

“But thank you for your letter. You must know that there is no one I think more of than I do of you and [1467], and I am glad to try and be of a service whenever and wherever possible.”

R4. 5/14/44 See Prayer Group message 281-65, Par. A-5 advising immediate x-rays, etc. for Mrs. [263] to indicate how much out of alignment the sacral and coccyx are, so that osteopathic corrections may prevent a great deal more suffering.

R5. 5/18/44 See husband’s rdg. 1467-19 in re Mrs. [263]‘s physical and mental condition, resulting partly from extensive use of B.C. tablets over a long period, self-will, etc., also in re their marriage; advising osteopathy and physiotherapy under the care of Dr. Marion A. Dick (D.O.) of Philadelphia so that her physical condition will be bettered, enabling her to decide whether or not she will make a go of her marriage.

R6. 5/30/44 She wrote from Philadelphia: “I don’t write as a rule because I don’t like to, but I just have to scribble this note to you to tell you how wonderful you are, and what knowing you has done for me. I have had the treatments now for nine days and I am a different person. I really am ashamed of myself for being such an ungrateful person. I want you to know that I think the very devil himself had me good, but the time I have been here with such wonderful a person as Dr. Dick, and the prayers of the best people in the world back home, your kindness and love - with God’s help I have come to a great awakening within. I feel grand, but I have been through every temptation since I’ve been here. With prayer and kindness I have found better health. Dr. Dick’s helpers are also grand; they have been more than kind; they are wonderful people.

“I have met some of your patients who got readings and are taking treatments from Dr. Dick. They really sing your praises, and I tell them more.

“Dr. Dick is really thrilled about your work. She is coming to the Congress and says she can hardly wait. She wanted me to tell her all about your work, the people, and mostly-about you.

“I am very glad I came. I know now that [1467]‘s intentions were very good. I just didn’t want to think he had my interest at heart, but I see how I have been hard to get along with, and - with the help of my Lord and your kindness and love for me - I am going to live my life now for someone else besides me.

“I can’t thank you enough, Mr. Cayce. I don’t know how, except to show you, and I will.

“My spine is fine. I expect to go home Friday, so will see you soon… I just wanted you to know how much I love you.”

R8. 7/29/57 Mrs. [263] reported that she had gone to Dr. John Byrd, an internist, when she became ill this summer - with her kidneys acting up again. He said that all her trouble stemmed from her kidneys. She felt that her worry over illness of her son, together with marital problems, had precipitated this.

R9. GD’s note: Mrs. [263] led a very active life from 1945-1961, having comparatively little physical disturbance but helping many others with their physical problems.

R10. 12/12/61 Her friend Mrs. [2454] phoned GD: “[263] is in the hospital, has had three-fourths of her stomach removed, some of the intestines and gall bladder. She was on the operating table six hours. A biopsy reveals that it is not malignant, but she is in bad shape with all of that taken out of her.” [See 263-3, Par. 4.]

R11. GD’s note: Mrs. [263] told me she could eat very little, had to take tiny bites or sips all through the day in order to get enough nourishment. Her stomach wouldn’t handle enough to build her up again. She still carried on bravely, being an inspiration in a mental and spiritual way, to all who knew her.

R12. 7/20/63 She died in the hospital.
