This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of March, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [263], through Study Group #7 of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Born April 16, 1911, in Hertford County, near Murfreesboro, N.C. Time of Reading 11:25 to 12:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity and those records as in relation to the universe and universal forces of the entity now known as or called [263].

2. In entering the present experience, we find the entity as one of those from the Atlantean experience wherein there may come either those very great advancements - and instrumental in making for those experiences in the earth through these changed periods that are effective for weal or woe, dependent upon the application of self as respecting the Creative Forces - or then called the Law of One.

3. Then, in giving that which may be helpful for this entity in the present, well that these be considered from the astrological aspects or those urges that arise innately from those sojourns in the environs between the sojourns in the earth that are as the emotional influences in the experience of the entity in the present.

4. In those influences in Saturn with Jupiter, as we find, these have been made for - will make for - those periods when the entity has those urges as of constantly renewing or beginning over, whether in relationships with individuals, circumstances, associations, activities or what. These are as innate, and as to what the entity does about or with such experiences or such urges makes for developments or retardments in the present experience.

5. These, as we find, while they have been under adverse influences in the entity’s experience, specifically in the last two years, will - after the 15th or 16th of April in the present year - be more in those of BENEVOLENT influences, and the greater opportunities. While there will be those experiences when the entity must make decisions between these periods, if they are chosen in constructive forces, constructive influences, that are impelled by the spirit of truth, of love, of sincerity, of those activities that make for the building or constructive force in the mental and spiritual influences, then we will find the next three to four years being rather those periods of the greater opportunities in the present sojourn.

6. In Jupiter we find that as making in the experience, under the benevolent influences, one of vision, one with the abilities to coordinate through associations or activities in a social and in a material way and manner, those influences upon individuals and groups.

7. From the sojourn of the entity in Venus we find those influences making for one of emotional and high emotional nature, tendencies - from the sojourns of the Atlantean influence and from the Arcturian influences - for visions or dreamings of high ennobling experiences, yet these are in the material rather that as may find its expression in the emotional nature in the entity’s experience in the present. If these are kept or maintained rather in the spirit of good, the spirit of truth, as of constructive forces, these will make for greater opportunities, greater blessings, greater material manifestations in the experience of the entity of love, harmony, peace, and those things that bring the contentment which is in a life of service for a purpose as ideal in spiritual import.

8. As to the influences in the experience of the entity from the sojourns in the earth, we find these have been periods of an activity in the nature of expansions in many varied ways and manners, yet under those environs and circumstances in the experiences of the earth when the changes were being wrought in the activities of the earth.

9. Then, as to the experiences that make for an activity in the present, we find:

Before this the entity was in those periods when there were the turmoils and strifes that arose between nations in that just preceding what would be called the Civil War, in this particular land of nativity; during those sojourns when there were the particular activities in what is nigh and around Sumpter, Charleston, during those activities that made for the periods of cession, the period of making for turmoils and strifes that arose from the individual application of might, power or strength.

11. The entity then, in the name Jane Wentworth, was among those that made for the impelling influences in the activity of those individuals in and about Charleston and Sumpter; the records of which may be found.

12. In the experience from the material the entity gained. In those from the spiritual and from the mental that made for development the entity lost. These brought strifes, discontent, and in the present experience we find urges at times when irrespective of what may be the order of things as to temperament or purpose, the entity desires or wishes or impels self at times towards making a law unto itself, making for those things that would - as it were - be in opposition to the regular routine. These the entity must submerge to an extent; not in the way or manner as submerging that they become as but hidden or covered over, but using rather in those directions where such activity may become constructive in the experience. And when these arise in the experience, through sheer will, find an outlet for same in doing something for another who has those same CHARACTER of impulses in their experience. This will not only make for strengthening of purpose, the directing of the will and of the mental abilities, but make for a growth in the experience of the entity; for the Mind is the Builder, and if these are not of a spiritual constructive import the end thereof must be contention - that arose in that experience.

13. Before that we find the entity was in that land now known as the Spanish, during those periods when there were the gathering of many that made for a united effort in those directions for the Holy Wars.

14. The entity joined with those of other lands in those activities during that experience, in what was known as the Second of the Crusade activities; then in the opposite sex from in the present, and a leader in those peoples not only in the Spanish but those in the activities of a portion of French and of those in the German, or as they would be called in the present; for the entity rose to one of power and might, though there were the failings in purposes in some directions, the determinations in the activities of the entity, then in the name Richelleneaux.

15. In the experience the entity gained in the mental, the material, in the spiritual carrying that of a purposefulness - yet innately within self holding that these would only find expressions in that of materiality in the things it made individuals or groups do as respecting their relationships with others, which is half a truth!

16. In the experience the entity made for activities that brought for a development in MANY about the entity. Hence in the present we may find those periods when the entity wields rather a benevolent influence upon the lives of others that in self is never very satisfactory. These AGAIN make for periods when the entity shall look well within and see and know and experience that which is the motivative influence in the experience of self, whether from the spiritual import or from self-indulgence or the aggrandizement of the mental or material forces of the body itself. These are as ever that which is the guide in a material or earthly development.

17. Before that we find the entity was in that land now known as the Persian or Arabian land, during those periods when many of the peoples in many lands were gathered to the city in the hills and in the plains.

18. The entity then was among those of the Persians that were in the school that had been raided by those peoples that later rose as their leader rose to power, to that of making for a union of the strength in those activities that brought a great development to many portions of the land.

19. The entity was among those that later became associated with those activities, making for a development throughout that experience; for the entity - while in that of pomp or glory, as would be termed in the present, through the wealth or the riches or the gold of the garments of that land in that experience - these the entity used rather in making for those activities in the experiences of others that brought hope and faith and brotherly love, and those things that make people unafraid in their activity in the earth.

20. Then in the name Vashten, the entity brought to those of the Persian land that of the leader later associated with the Zoroasterian reactions, or a companion with that teacher in the land. Hence we will find those things of an oriental nature, whether they be of the dance, the rug, the dress, the manner of service or of rote, that were of an innate activity in the experience of that period, the entity finds a harkening within self to those things. These would be WELL to develop in the experience, for they will make for that awakening to the abilities within self to use not only the mental and innate faculties of the mind and soul in spiritual imports and truths, but making for a strength of purpose in the experiences in the earth.

21. Before that we find the entity was in that now known as or called the Egyptian land, during those periods of turmoil and strife that arose from those rebellions in the land during those periods of the activities when the Priest was banished and there were the uprisings of those in the land.

22. The entity was among those who joined with the Ibex rebellion, making for those associations and connections that later held out for longer activities against the return of the Priest or the activities of the King during that experience. The entity lost and gained during the experience, for with the beginnings of those cleansings in the Temples, with the rejuvenation of the Priest and those activities of individuals that made for the ingatherings of those that these tenets might be taught to others in all the various activities, the entity became among the first as a TRAINED nurse. And in this sojourn could the entity have made for itself a life of service in a manner that would have been excelled by few. This required self-sacrifice; this the entity from other experiences of sojourn did not make. These may be developed in self in such ways and manners in the present as to bring an advancement and a development in this experience.

23. In the name then (as of the native peoples) She-Hihen.

24. Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land, in those periods when there first began the withdrawings from the Law of One, those establishings of the sons - or of the SON Belial in that experience.

25. The entity made for a foregathering with these for power, having been of the priestesses of the land; and through the activities of Belial became the priestess in the temple that was built in opposition to the ones - or the sons of the ONE. And in this the entity lost. When there were those destructive forces brought through the creating of the high influences of the radial activity from the rays of the sun, that were turned upon the crystals into the pits that made for the connections with the internal influences of the earth, the entity through turmoil again joined with those of the Law of One. Returning in those activities, the entity rose to one of power, in the name Ameene.

26. In the present we find these still combative influences in the experience; for coming when there are many of those in the earth that sojourned through the experiences when the earth and material things were being turned to destructive rather than constructive forces, makes for combative and compelling influences from the SENSE urges. Hence these must be kept in rather the constructive channel, if there would come the greater development to the entity in the present.

27. Then, in making for that which may apply - and how the entity may apply self in the present:

28. First find self and know what and who and in whom thou wouldst believe, to whom thou would serve, and why - and whether these be for the spirit of the Law of One or for the aggrandizement of self’s own individual self. For as ye chose in that experience in Atlantis BOTH WAYS, these will be thy experience in the present. Meet them ONLY, and they may only be met in Him who is the author, the maker of light, life and immortality in that He came that man in the flesh might know the way. For He IS the way, the water of life, the vine, and men and women are the branches - if they are grounded in Him. If they take root in the earth for their OWN dependence, it must become as tares that must be rooted out.

29. Then, study to show self approved unto Him, WITH Him. For as thou hast had power, might, in the earth; so in Him in the earth may ye again make for that of an awakening in self, in others, as to those truths that, “If ye love me and keep my commandments, I will come and abide with thee, that thou mightest have that power in the earth as was GIVEN thee in the beginning.”

30. Ready for questions.

31. (Q) What is my true life’s work? (A) True life’s work that is set before it is in the home and in making same as an ensample, an example, to many; that others taking thought may see through the application of self as to what may be builded by being close to Him who is the author of love, of life, of hope; in the home, in the associations, in the activities among men.

32. (Q) What is the purpose for choosing my parents? (A) That those influences that have been the experience in the earth may be made known in thine own inner self, that ye - knowing - may meet them, that ye may conquer self and those things that would separate self from the Creative Forces.

33. (Q) Please advise me how I may be of the most help to my father, […], Atlanta, Ga.?

(A) We haven’t […] [father]. The best application of self as respecting any individual - father, mother, brother, or what - is to let thy life be in thy associations with each the reflection of that thou thinkest of thy God. THIS makes for a life of service, or the using of life that the Father, the Son, may be glorified in the earth even as in heaven.

34. (Q) Please advise me as to how my husband and I may act so that we may make this experience one of unity and harmony? (A) This is an experience when each must know that it is the cooperative association in the activities as one to another, that there is the duty, there is the love, there is the necessary association on the part of each. Give and take. As ye would be done by, do ye so to the other; and this will make for an experience of harmony that will become as a light to many.

35. (Q) What can I do to help the financial condition of my family? (A) Remove any thought or purpose or cause of anxiety for self from the others, and there will be made the harmonious experiences that will aid self and others in MAKING for the necessary MATERIAL activities in the experience.

36. (Q) Am I psychic? If so, how may I develop so that I can be of the greater use? (A) Every soul is psychic, and the entity is above the ordinary from the experience. The abilities have been used erringly. Turn them to the light. Let the light of the truth guide thee, as in His promises that “I will abide with thee and bring to thy remembrance ALL THINGS from the beginning.” Then meditate upon that the Lord thy God, thy Christ, would have thee do. Let thy prayer day by day be:

HERE AM I, LORD! PURGE THOU ME FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. MAKE ME A GREATER CHANNEL OF BLESSINGS TO EVERYONE DAY BY DAY; NOT MY WILL BUT THINE, O LORD, BE DONE IN AND THROUGH ME.

R8. 1/2/40 See her new husband’s (whom she’d married a short time ago) rdg. 1467-6, Par. 29-A, 31-A indicating that they parallel their past sojourns and realize they are necessary to one another in the present, if each will use the best in each to stimulate the best in the other.

R9. 3/9/40 Letter to Miss [307] ([263]‘s aunt) from the President of the Charleston Chapter, Number 4, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Charleston, S.C., in reply to her inquiry:

“I have made extensive inquiries about ‘Jane Worthington’ [Jane Wentworth!] among some of the older members of our chapter and have not been able to find anything satisfactory or helpful.

“The only person of the name is a Mrs. Ella Worthington (a Venning), and herself a daughter of a Confederate Veteran who died at about 95 - a year or so ago. This lady moved to Baltimore after her father’s death, and I am told the Worthington family were originally from Virginia or Maryland near Baltimore. A Directory of Baltimore might locate this lady and possibly give you a clue, if of the same family. There might be some information in the files of the newspapers of the war days, and if you care to consult a research worker I can recommend one… I should be greatly interested to hear further of ‘Jane Worthington’ and any part she played in the great drama of Charleston in those war days. Possibly you can come to Charleston at some time, and I know you would find much help at the Charleston Library (King St.).”

R10. 9/13/40 Mrs. [263]‘s reply to a Questionnaire as to characteristics and temperaments mentioned in her Life Rdg.:

“The reading is perfect in bringing to my attention the characteristics and temperaments that I possess. Not that I did not in a vague way recognize them, but I had never let them have any place in my mind, for what I was, was not of as much concern to me as what I wanted. But when I began to stop and analyze myself, I could see that in many ways I was selfish and the reading hadn’t failed to call it to my attention.

“What interested me most was how near I had been to the Creator, and that, although I had not always done the right thing in former experiences, the same power, peace and preservation was offered to me again, if I would only make my choice in accord with His will.

“The Life Rdg. has helped me to understand many things in my life and I feel that from day to day it will be of a greater and greater benefit to me and my family. I feel very grateful for it.”

R24. 3/19/51 Her reply to a Questionnaire:

“In re 263-4, Par. 5, as to changes after 4/15-16/35: At that time I had domestic troubles. I had just separated from my first husband [father of my little boy [415]], and I was in quite a mental state at the time of the rdg. I got better after April 15th, physically, mentally and spiritually. The rdg. had everything to do with my making an adjustment. It brought to my attention the cause of my trouble, which I didn’t recognize. I got a job in a florist shop and began to support myself, having heretofore depended on my widowed mother [303] to take care of me and my little boy. It was about four years later that I met, became closely associated with, and married my second husband [1467].

“In re 263-4, Par. 7, I feel that this Atlantis influence has helped me to see the good in others. It means more to me now than it did then. At that time I didn’t like what the rdg. said. I had one spiritual vision after this rdg., in which I heard my name called and saw the face of the Master.

“In re 263-4, Par. 14, my being a man during the Second Crusades - When I was in the ‘teens’ in this life, and the girls all seemed so feminine, I was so coarse speaking that I would lower my voice so that I wouldn’t talk out loud. I’ve been told that I drive an automobile like a man. I’ve always wanted to be a man; I’ve never wanted to be a woman - that is, consciously, in this life. [See 7/29/57 Reports.]

“In re 263-4, Par. 20, - I like oriental music but I don’t particularly like the oriental dance, rugs or clothing.

“In re 263-4, Par. 22, and my being a trained nurse in Egypt: I’ve done some nursing and I like it; though I’ve never thought of training for nursing, that would be the profession I would choose if I had to live my life over again. As a child I always nursed my younger brother [361], and my family used to call me ‘the little mother.’

[GD’s note: She certainly had a lot of experience with hospitals in this life, during the time that I knew her, both for herself and all members of her family. She nursed her aunt [307] and mother [303] in terminal illnesses, after they were sent home to her after long periods in the hospital. Her husband [1467] and son [415] also spent many weeks in the hospital and she cared for them during their recuperation periods at home.]

“In re Atlantis - 263-4, Par. 25, - there is plenty there that I don’t want to talk about. One thing, in this life I have the greatest urge to join a church, then I’ll want to leave it. This applies in many things in my life, always changing.

“In re 263-4, Par. 10, etc., I didn’t understand this incarnation at all. So I got a Ck. Life Rdg. on the period - 263-15. I’ve had the urge to get even with people all my life, that’s the hardest thing in the world for me to work out.

“The only comment I have to make on my Life Rdg. generally is that I wouldn’t take a million dollars for it. The readings have been a lifesaver for me and for each member of my family.”
