This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of February, 1942, in accordance with request made by the daughter - Dr. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [2185].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions that may be asked:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, while conditions are rather serious, they need not necessarily prove too much to respond, if these applications or administrations are made.

4. There are old disturbances, as we find, which arise from a condition in the liver; a hardening in one lobe and an inactivity of the general flow of the secretions from same.

5. Thus a condition is produced in the duodenum that prevents the natural the natural flow of the gastric juices and the refuse or digested forces for the activity through the jejunum and alimentary canal.

6. This closes, almost, the valve or the connecting forces here. [See 2689-4 Reports.] It produces the inability of retaining foods, the inability of assimilation, and the natural consequence of those conditions through the colon also.

7. Then, we would wire this:

8. Apply Castor Oil Packs, at least three thicknesses of flannel saturated in Castor Oil, as warm as may be applied over liver, gall duct area, covering the lower portion of the stomach, applying the low electrical vibrations from an electric pad, for an hour.

9. Do this night and morning.

10. Stimulate to activity, osteopathically, the area from which the lower portion of the duodenum AND the upper jejunum receive their impulse, - that from the 2nd and 3rd dorsal to at least the 6th, - this as a relaxing for activity.

11. Give, at least every other day, a Glyco-Thymoline douche, - one ounce of Glyco-Thymoline to ten ounces of body- temperature water - these proportions.

12. Do this, until there is relief. Then we would give further instructions.

13. The foods should be those of the easily assimilated or pre-digested nature.

14. Ready for questions.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I wish to thank you for your prompt reply to my telegram which arrived just after I did at the Hospital and just after I had received the report of the x-ray examination, namely that there was a mechanical obstruction at the distal end of the small intestine. The surgeon on the case wished to operate immediately and x-ray Doctor told me that two days would be too long to wait for the operation. However, my father came home the next day, and we have given him the treatment faithfully as outlined by you. I arrived back at my home in … yesterday.

I was talking with my mother today and she reports my father is feeling good, no complaints except gas.

I treated my father daily for 9 days before I had the lesions corrected to my satisfaction. You will be interested to know that they were from the 2nd to 6th dorsal on the right side.

Four days after arriving at my father’s home, I got your Air Mail letter and I must admit it was a revelation to me to find you had localized the obstruction at exactly the same spot the x-ray did.

I am enclosing the $10.00 which I understand from Mrs. [2185] is the fee for further instructions, if it is not correct let me know and I will send you the balance.

There are two things now that my father is suffering from:

1. Disturbance in the abdomen from an excess accumulation of gas.

2. Fear of an operation that was instilled in his mind by the surgeon. I would be grateful if when you are giving further advice if it would include:

3. Means of relieving gas.

4. Instructions as to diet.

5. Further treatment.

6. If it would be advisable for him to come to my office in … for treatment as his nearest osteopath is 30 miles away, in Calais, Maine.

7. Is a surgical operation indicated at a future date, if so would it be better to have it in Philadelphia; St. Stephen, N.B.; the General Public Hospital or St. Joseph’s in St. John, N.B. Needless to say, if possible, we wish to avoid an operation.

8. Is his present condition likely to shorten his life? If so, how long can he be expected to live. I am much interested in your readings. What is included in the Life and Mental and Spiritual Readings and what is the fee?
