Date: 6/6/1933 Sex: M Age: 47 ReadingID: 1617
This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of June, 1933, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [269], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. [269], Lu Hesson and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading R.F.D., 11:10 to 11:40 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Penna. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [269]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, there are many changes since last we had same here. These, as we find, are for the betterment of the general physical conditions of the body.
-
The conditions in the head and in the throat are being relieved of those tendencies for the accumulations, that arise from those impingements that have existed - as well as from the activities that produced these conditions; in that the tissue must be enlivened so that the organs, or those parts that were disturbed, may resume their normal activity, and thus perform their functioning as to the general system.
-
These are gradually being brought about by the stimulation to those portions of the system, and in relieving - and keeping relieved - the tissue that becomes involved through the action of congestion in that portion of same.
-
To be sure, as we find, one part - or one ear - has shown, and is showing, faster and better results than the other; one not being so badly involved.
-
The Eustachian tubes are assuming, or returning in part to, their normal position.
-
Since all portions of the body aid or retard the conditions that have been involved, in a greater or lesser degree, and inasmuch as the general condition that first affected the body (catarrhal condition) has to do with the general circulation, we would find that an ASSISTANT to the circulation and lymph supply - as we have given - would be well; through the use occasionally - every two or three days, if not every day - of the violet ray, especially over the upper dorsal and cervical area. Not over head or ear at this time, but over those portions of system where the impulses from the nerve forces are to supply energy and circulation to the system - or to those portions that have been affected.
-
This would be an aid for those parts that have been disturbed, to assume or resume - more in a normal manner - their position, their reaction, and their effect upon the general system.
-
Also, to keep the alimentary canal clear - and not to disturb digestion or the eliminations in such a manner, we find that it would be well to take a laxative at times; such as would be found in the form of agar and oils - or the nonacid form of same.
-
The addition of this to the system would be to keep out sluggishness, yet not disturbing the equilibrium of the system.
-
As we find, these will bring about the correction - and the return of the activity of the auditory forces - for this body, [269].
-
Of course, it will be necessary to keep the circulations, manipulations or treatments, until there has been a correction - and a tendency for the system to function in a normal manner.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Would it be advisable to take a tonic, or something to help my general blood condition? (A) Those properties suggested would be well; not so much a tonic as to assist the system (without disturbing the body) to assume its normalcy in elimination of the great amount of refuse forces that must be thrown off, that must be assimilated and thrown out through the eliminations of the body - see? Petrolagar.
-
(Q) How long should the body continue present manipulations and treatments at this period? (A) Until there is something near an equilibrium established in the circulation and nerve supply to the head, neck and throat.
Of course, keep the soft tissues cleansed - as we have given.
Then, to prevent colds, congestion, disturbing the mucomembranes, the tissues must be enlivened by the circulation. Hence there will be required some four to five weeks at this period.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/21/33 EC’s letter to Dr. A. J. Foerter (M.D.): “The man from Pa. [Mr. [269]] who is being treated for deafness is coming along fine. His physician [Dr. M. L. Richardson, D.O.] made an address at our Congress the other evening.” [OBSERVATIONS ON MR. CAYCE’S PSYCHIC PHYSICAL READINGS - see under 360-1 Reports.]
R2. 7/29/33 Wife [1408] wrote: “I know you are anxious to learn how [269] is since he ret’d. It has been somewhat discouraging, and I don’t like to even think he is not better. I feel that he will be much improved, but he has not been any good in any way. I can’t find out, but I think all of it is worry and nerves. I have been watching him much and when he doesn’t seem so depressed he is better. He says his head had not been as good since the last week he was in Norfolk, and the heat and water, etc., gave him some bowel trouble and it all seemed to go to his head… Of course coming home and finding out things I kept from him (of a financial nature) did not help any, but I know if business conditions would change here it would be a Godsend to him. He cannot stand it to owe people money. I feel very hopeful of the future.”
R3. 2/25/34 His wife wrote: “[269] is not very good. For two weeks he had an awful cold. We think he was better all winter, did not seem to take cold so easily as other winters (though we had the worst weather I ever saw here in 16 yrs.). But these changes are hard on anyone. His hearing is no better, but I felt that what was done for him was beneficial to him otherwise.”
R4. 5/22/34 His wife’s letter: “If we could do more for [269] I would be happy. His nerves are bad; he is worried more than ever he was. Business is in an awful state of affairs, likely to lose all we have and that means a home. I am not sorry for what he did last year to be helped. He was benefited a lot at the time, but seems to be harder to make him understand than ever it was. He says his head feels better in different ways, too, although he feels discouraged.
“It is one year this week I went to Norfolk to see him and I was so encouraged when the ears seemed to open up some, but I do think the treatments and his care at that time had lots to do with it. If we could, I would like him to take treatments here for a while, to see how it acts but he thinks it impossible, as we have not yet recovered from the loans last year, and all he says is ‘no use.’”
R5. 6/23/34 She wrote: “[269] has times when he is much depressed and those times hurt me the most, though I think he has been in better spirits lately in spite of our business conditions.”
R6. 10/20/35 She wrote: “We have wanted so much to make a contribution to your work, but have not been able to get out of depression yet. Dr. Richardson is still getting every dollar I can possibly send him. I am ashamed to say we have not been able to pay him all yet, but I know things will be better some day… [269] is still about the same, his general condition not too bad but hearing worse. If he could only keep up treatment or do something it would help a lot, but I try not to worry about it and try to help him in every way I can.”
R7. 6/8/37 His wife died suddenly. See 1408-2.
R8. 3/27/46 Dr. Gena L. Crews (D.O.)‘s reply to Questionnaire on Deafness:
“I treated several cases of deafness under Mr. Cayce’s readings. I remember one that Dr. Richardson used finger surgery on. All cases I have ever seen (my mother included) have bony lesions AND are toxic.”
