This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of October, 1930, in accordance with request made by Mr. Edgar Cayce himself.

Time of Reading 3:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will have before you the information which has been given through these sources to [2708], of …, New York City, regarding stocks and regarding the man she was to meet - which she has acted upon. Also you will have before you her letter which I hold in my hand. You will explain why these conditions have not worked out as given, and answer any Questions regarding same that I may ask you.

2. EC: Yes, we have the information, also those activities of the body, [2708] as respecting the information as was given.

3. In the respects of the information - these, as we find, have been two of the very active stocks during this period, as given. That the conditions are such as to be almost opposite at present from that as was indicated at that time - yet the changes as have come about are NOT in keeping with the intent and purport of those that were then controlling the conditions, and there should have been those varied conditions asked for, for this - or were they to be, or to have been acted upon. In the PRESENT situation, we find these - especially the R.K.O. and Vanadium will prove to be exceptionally good holdings, can they be held to until there is the general change as must soon begin, and were they held - even at this very low figure, even bought much higher - these will prove exceptional holdings.

4. As for conditions regarding the man, these - as has been explained, as we find - have been set in motion, and will and should bring about those conditions as necessary for the coming to pass of that so desired. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) How long before these stocks will begin to rise? (A) This has already begun, for they have reached their lowest in this present decline.

6. (Q) What would be best for the body to do respecting these, considering all conditions? (A) Hold, if they can.

My dear Mrs. [2708]

I don’t wonder, from yours of a few days ago, that you feel that you wish you had never seen nor heard tell of me or the work. I was never more surprised to know that you had allowed this to get in so far and had not said anything about it. It has been our experience throughout the years, that where such information is given, it is just as necessary to follow same up as closely as possible, for certainly the information is - if it is worth anything - of the moment, with the intent and purpose of the individuals in control, or who THINK they are in control of the situation. These, we know - as indicated from the last twelve months or more

• change almost on a moment’s notice. To say I am sorry is almost worse than saying nothing. To be sure, we undertook to see what would be given through the same sources, for we can only judge by that - and I’m sending it to you. If you still occupy these positions, I would like very much to try to help get it straightened out, if you think it is worth while. Of course, from your experience, I don’t doubt but what you are bound to feel that it can’t be worth anything in such conditions.

As to the meeting, this - I am very sure - will come about, if it hasn’t already, through the very channels and associations made at that time. That ALL of these things should have been failures for you is a wonder. When there is, I am sure, so MUCH sincerity on both sides, it seems that the old story is very true - that the phenomena is NOT meant to be used in such manners, unless it is certainly very, very, well understood.

I will certainly appreciate it if you will let me hear from you, and let me try to be of help if it is possible, or to your mind even a reasonable thing.

I’m glad to say that the family is fairly well physically. Of course, we have had so many disturbing things of late - with changes brought on by the financial straits throughout, that mentally we must be considerably disturbed. Know that we all think of you often, and are hoping and praying that everything will work out to the very best for you in every way and manner. With love from all,

R3. 6/23/31 Gladys Davis’ letter to [2708]:

Mrs. [2708] New York City

My dear Mrs. [2708]

I always feel like saying “my” Mrs. [2708] for some reason or another. It just seems that you belong to me, and I have to fight back inclinations continually to tell you all the details of my life, my work, and things which I know you shouldn’t be bothered with; especially when you have so many problems of your own.

Beth [Graves] is back, and has told me how nice it was to talk with you over the phone and to hear your voice. I’m so sorry you didn’t get to see each other. The operation was a success, as you felt it would be, and she is getting along just fine. She told me that you were planning to go to Maine, so I suppose you are there now - but I don’t know the address and will have to send this to New York.

A letter came the other day from Morton Blumenthal, demanding that Mr. Cayce be out of this house by the first of July, not even offering to let him rent it. I can remember a time when they offered him the house OR the money. He chose the house, but because they wanted to hold it over him as a wedge (or felt they could) they never gave him actual title to it. Well, this is the very worst time of the year to make a move in Virginia Beach. Rents go sky-high for the summer; nevertheless, Mr. Cayce wants to move - he doesn’t feel that he could stay here under the circumstances, and I don’t blame him. To fight it out with them would be putting the material value of this house above the whole work, or his whole life’s purpose - which is to serve humanity. Naturally, he will have to locate and rent a place of some kind for the summer, no matter what the cost. There’s no doubt but what things will be taken care of from day to day. I’m not bothering about that, but I do think that Mr. Cayce should be provided with a home of his own, without any strings tied to it! and that this should be the first consideration of those who attempt to put over the new organization.

There will always be plenty of places to put the money that comes in from day to day, for the readings, contributions to the new organization, etc. That’s why Mr. Cayce has never accumulated anything. Whenever anyone has given a substantial sum, it has had to go for this, that, or the other that was needed at that particular time.

So, without his knowledge - or without any of the family knowing it - I have started a fund, which is to be separate from the organization. It is to be for Mr. Cayce’s own personal use, and when it reaches the ten thousand dollar mark it will be presented to him as a GIFT from those who have contributed, and he can select a lot and build a house, or make a substantial down-payment on one already built - whichever he likes. Do you think I am capable of doing this?

As long as I have been associated with this work, I have never attempted to raise any amount of money, but I have always felt that it could be done if gone about properly. If I can interest and get the cooperation of leaders of groups in various portions of the country who are already in sympathy with the work, and who desire to help Mr. Cayce, I know I can raise at least that amount, if not more. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if I could have that much by fall, or at least by Christmas - so that the whole group could present it to him as a Christmas present?

I know you keep very busy, but if you approve of my attempting this, won’t you write me sometime and give me your suggestions as to how I should go about it? I am really very ignorant about such things, and your experience and advice would be very valuable to me.

The weather is lovely here now. We really haven’t had any summer at all yet. I wish you COULD come down for a while.

If you get any intuitions, hunches, or “flashes” as to the outcome of our problems, I wish you’d tell us. It always does Mr. Cayce so much good just to have you write him a line or two. This might seem strange, or crazy, to some - but we have often felt your influence, presence, or something that is impossible to put into words. I just want you to know that we appreciate you, and what “just KNOWING you” means to us.

I now have on the little lavender dress you gave me last summer. It seems that my “vibrations” are always attuned higher, or closer to yours, when I wear it.

The flowers in the back yard here are so lovely. I wish I could hand you a big bouquet. The fruit trees all have fruit this year, too. I feel so sorry that Mr. Cayce has to give them up. He planted every one of them, you know, and has watched them grow almost the same as if they had been his children. He loves every inch of this place. Well, if my plans go through, he should be able to have a place by Fall that he can call his own for the rest of his life.

I hope you are enjoying your vacation in Maine, and being with your family. Please give my love to Mrs. [2756]. I felt so drawn to her, and had hoped that we could meet again. How is your little boy [1719]? I suppose he’s getting to be quite a young man by now.

Dearest Gladys -

Your desire to help Mr. Cayce has my interest and I do hope you are successful in your efforts. The past year has made many demands on me, and sometimes I wonder Why? To add to my many worries my sister […] [not [2756]] has been a victim of an automobile accident, and since she is without funds I must meet the expense of it all. It not only drains me financially, but also physically and mentally. I’m praying for the light.

My love to you and the dear Cayces.

Mrs. [2708], dear:-

Your lovely letter three months ago was so much appreciated. I’ve been so busy, and the time has flown so, that I can hardly realize I’ve waited so long to answer. Many, many times I’ve thought of you, though. How is your sister who was hurt in the accident? I do hope she fully recovered.

I do not even know whether you are in New York, but I hope so

• for Mr. and Mrs. Cayce and I will be at the Hotel Victoria all next week, and would just love to see you again. If you are there, won’t you please get in touch with us?

R6. 7/13/33 GD’s letter to [2708]:

My dear Mrs. [2708]

Ever since your lovely Christmas card in 1931 I have been intending to write. So many times we have thought of you and wondered how you are getting along. Fine, I hope.

Our second Annual Congress of the new Association has just passed. I’m sending under separate cover a current Bulletin which carries some of the addresses. I certainly do wish you could have been here. This account will give you some idea of how we are exploiting the Work at present. I think you would be interested in the Study Groups more than anything else. Some leaders in New York are planning to organize a group there in the fall. We’ve met some very lovely people in New York during the last two years, and they’re not Jews either - I’m sure you’ll be glad to hear. There are two or three, especially, that I would like very much for you to know.

Hugh Lynn has been very active in the new Association; in fact, he has given his whole time to it, and is the Acting Manager. He and Mildred (my cousin whom you possibly remember) and I comprise the office force. Our office is upstairs in the home where we now live, which is right across from the Catholic Church, on Arctic Circle, and a fresh water lake lies almost in our back yard - even though we are only two blocks from the ocean. It is a lovely location, and we like it here fine. Since our trouble in New York, it has been pretty hard sledding, but so far we have been cared for - and I’m sure it is for a purpose. We all are bigger and better for having passed through the trials. You were certainly right in what you said to me years ago, in regard to the outcome if certain individuals didn’t change. The world may not see it that way, but underneath I know it is true.

I’m also sending an article on Life Readings which Hugh Lynn has compiled from data on hand. It will be interesting for you to compare this with your own Life Reading, or to interpret your reading by it. We have gotten so much information, about so many different things, that I would love to tell you about.

How is Mrs. [2756] and [1719]? Are you keeping well, since you had the operation?

We’re having a little spell of winter down here now, but we’re hoping it won’t last long. I never see our friends at the Cavalier, for we’re at the other end of the Beach now; in fact, I don’t know whether or not the same ones are there. We have been in touch with Mr. Gustafson (the real estate man) now and then. You remember, you brought him by to see us one day.

I’m hoping that all your affairs have gotten in shape, and that everything is going nicely for you. Write to us when you have time. All send love and best wishes.

P.S. Mr. Cayce is fine, and looks better than he has for some time. Hugh Lynn will be away for several weeks; he took some Boy Scouts (being Assistant Scoutmaster of the local Troop) to the fair in Chicago. They are driving through the country, and - from all reports - they’re having a grand trip.

R8. 9/21/76 After unexpected correspondence with [2708]‘s foster son [1719] we found out that [2708] died September 27, 1961 of complications resulting from a broken hip suffered in a fall.
