This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of March, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self through Mrs. [1553]”s daughter, Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, with this body [2714], while the outward conditions cause the greater distress, the effects arise from an infection - that is latent within the system. It gives an expression which is indicated in the ulcered conditions, that respond little to the local applications.

4. We find that three measures are indicated as being needed for corrections; first, those that will aid in purifying the system, in the blood stream, eradicating those infections; and then those applications that will aid the body in producing the elements or activities as to heal AND eradicate the disturbing influences.

5. Begin first with taking Mullein Tea, made in the proportions of two ounces of boiling water poured over a tablespoonful of the dried or crumbled leaf Mullein and allowed to steep as regular tea. Take this much each day.

6. As soon as the body is able to obtain the green Mullein (which may be procured from the South, - any good wholesale crude drug company - as in S. B. Penick & Company, Asheville, North Carolina), - bruise two or three leaves in hot water and apply - without squeezing out the water - directly over the affected area and around same, as a stupe or poultice, see?

7. In cleansing the area use warm Glyco-Thymoline as an antiseptic; for this has the healing oils as well as being an alkalizing antiseptic. Do not use hot, but warm - and warm same in the container, you see, by pouring hot water over the bottle. Use full strength. Heat same in bottle or container, by turning the warm water over it, and use at least AFTER each of the Mullein Stupes has been applied (and it is best that these be applied when the body is not to be on its feet, you see). Use the Glyco-Thymoline before and after applying the Stupes, see? This will be even better for this particular condition than the poisonous substances that have been used.

8. Only use the elastic, above or below the affected areas, when the body is on its feet. Remove the elastic when the body rests.

9. Add plenty of those food values in the diet that carry the excess quantities of B-1 vitamins.

10. Also, at least every other day, relax that area in the sacral and ileac plexus that distresses the circulation to the affected areas.

11. Do that and we will bring the bettered conditions for this body.

12. Do ALL suggested.

13. Ready for questions.

14. (Q) Is the Quartz Ultra-Violet radiation (concentrated) indicated at this time? (A) A little later this will be more beneficial than at present. If this is applied in the present to those areas FROM WHICH the body obtains impulses for circulation through the limb, it will be more effective than directly to the affected area, - as through the sacral and lumbar area, see, in the present.

15. (Q) Should the Mullein Stupes be applied directly to the body or between gauze? (A) They may be applied directly OR between gauze, depending on the severity of the ulcered area from time to time. Only the green Mullein would be applied in the stupes, though the dried Mullein may be used in the tea. Of course, the green may also be used for the tea, though it doesn’t require so much - about half the quantity - but do not let it boil; just steep as tea, by pouring hot water over same. Let it stand for fifteen or twenty minutes, see?

R1. 6/4/42 Mrs. [1553]‘s daughter’s letter:

We have been having a time getting the green mullein leaves for [2714]. Wrote to Penick in North Carolina as you suggested. They in turn told me some other place, so all and all still no green mullein. We have done everything else in the reading but feel this is all important part - could you help us? Is there no one who could send us some GREEN mullein at any price for I feel we should follow the reading in everything if we expect results; and we want results so very much. She has had this condition since last August and while she responds for a time to treatment, then the ulcers get worse again, etc.

What results have you had from the readings in these cases? It would be a help to know your results. It is such a good clear reading and should be simple to follow in everything if we could only get the GREEN mullein.

I suppose you are not going to get up this way now. I’m disappointed. You asked about [1561]. He is fine. Just been home for the holiday but is very busy in of all things your very state Virginia - eastern part. He will no doubt stop off to see you just as soon as he can get away. Do let me hear from you.

Dear Mrs. […] [[2714]‘s employer]:

Glad to hear from you and that your Mother is showing some improvement, sent a package of the mullen [mullein] Saturday - hope you have it alright and that it works as well with her as it has in other similar cases - yes have had many cases of such conditions and while all are not exactly alike some of the things suggested are the same

• just heard from a lady [Miss [4383]] this morning from Columbus, Ohio, the reading gave for her mother [Mrs. [4382]] just the same things almost exactly as yours and she got entirely well - there wasn’t however the complication as your Mother [EC misunderstood, thinking it was for her mother, Mrs. [1553].] has. You should be able to get Mullen [mullein] in your own country side now am sure you will find it out in the country along side the road now, have seen a great deal of it in that part of the country some years ago.

No couldn’t get to N.Y. this year - have kept H. L. on the anxious seat about his induction in the Army, now the other boy is to be married next Saturday will marry here - marrying a local girl - he is in Harvard taking special training course is in the Signal Corpse [Corp.] of the Army.

Remember me to all - would like very much to see Mr. [1561] and have a talk with him - tell him to get by when he can - he should come to the Congress.

Thanks for yours of the 15th - glad your Mother is better

• yes - think you will be able to find the Mullen most any where in the countryside now. Is a very marvelous medicine for many things.

Have set the check readings for the afternoon of the 6th of July 3.30 to 4.30 E.W.T. can send the questions for the [2714] reading as well as for your Mothers.

No - the green mullen should be more effective than the dried - tho usually the dried is more concentrated as you use more of it - but if needs be stronger just use more of the green - Is she taking the Tea of same also that is excellent and will be good for her.

Our youngest boy was married last Saturday afternoon - married a girl from here - so was married here and left at once for Boston - he is in Army training at Harvard - so both our boys are married now - H.L. comes up to N.Y. tonight just for a day - is to see the publishers about the Book - “There Is a River” it goes to press now at once, the special edition will be ready Nov. 12th.

Wish you might be with us for the Congress, while may not be so large this time am sure we may get a great good from the meeting.

R4. 6/15/42 […] [[2714]‘s employer’s letter]: Dear Mr. Cayce: “Thank you so very much for the green mullein leaves. Now we can find them here when we know what to look for.

We have used them now for a week and after three more weeks if there isn’t a real improvement think we best have another reading. So please put [2714] down for a check reading week of July 5th and we’ll advise with questions the week before. As maybe you can advise us - does it take a longer time for the green mullein to begin to show results?”

R5. 7/1/42 Mrs. [1553]‘s daughter’s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce: “Glad to receive your good letter but I think you misunderstood me or I didn’t make myself clear.

I want to wait for Mother’s reading until you come up here or I get down there, as we get so much more out of it when I’m present. And at the moment Mother seems to be going along as usual.

As to [2714]‘s reading I asked you if you thought four weeks sufficient time to test the mullein out, in other words if by this week - 3rd week we didn’t see any improvement I would let you know and send the question for her reading. But now think there is improvement and the reading would no doubt say continue etc. so think it best to postpone her reading for the present, and see how things work out.

Do these ulcer cases with this treatment take a long time to heal. Give me some idea when you write.

So will you please postpone the reading that you set for July 6th, 3:30 to 4:30 and many thanks for all your help.

R6. 7/4/42 EC’s ltr.: Dear Mrs. […]: “Thanks for yours of the 1st - glad all are coming along better, fits in nicely as there was some one here waiting for an open period and that for Monday afternoon will fit in nicely.

Glad you have the same conviction as I - one can get much more out of a reading by being present. Usually requires three to four weeks to see the real effect from the uses of something of that nature - has to make over the system as is rather Homeopathic in its manner of working - do hope they are coming along nicely now.
