This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 1st day of June, 1934, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [274], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis, L. B. Cayce and Hugh Lynn Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [274]; this we have had before.
-
Now, as we find, conditions are not as good in the general physical forces of the body as when we last had same here. There are the tendencies in system, as we find, from the disorders that have been indicated in the gall duct area, produced by the system’s becoming clogged from those reactions in the diet, the activity, with the tendency which already existed.
-
And the effects that we find in the body from the present conditions are as these:
-
A tendency for gas formations; the digestive system upset; poor eliminations; neuritic pains in portions of the system; tendency for the tongue and the throat to be irritated; and a burning in the cardiac portion of stomach, with headaches at times and the recurrent condition in the mouth, gums, and the like.
-
These conditions, then, are reflexes from the condition that has been given as related to this portion of the physical functioning of the body.
-
While these may be aided materially by the addition of properties that would tend to make for a more unified condition in the digestive area, the stomach and intestinal tract, these - as we would find, in the present - would only be temporary conditions.
-
In the present we would have the gall duct or gall bladder DRAINED osteopathically, with sufficient treatments to coordinate the general system. There should be at least about sixteen such treatments and adjustments.
-
After the osteopathic treatments are well begun, then we would take at least once each day a half to a quarter teaspoonful of AL-CAROID, after the evening meal.
-
And we would occasionally, once a month or the like, take the CAROID Bile Salts tablets, that are not purgative to the gastric juices of the stomach but work more with the ducts of the liver, spleen, pancreas, and the lower portion of the duodenum.
-
About a week after the osteopathic treatments have been begun, we would also begin with the internal bath ocasionally, or the high enema; taking at least once or twice a week a general massage with exercise sufficient in the limbs, the upper and lower, in the gymnastics. Following the rubdown, after the work out, we would use the Radio-Active Appliance in equalizing the circulation that would be stimulated through the activities and in the internal circulation.
-
With the cleansing of the system, the obstructions and disorders that arise from same will be ridded from the system; such as the conditions in the mouth. We would still use the Ipsab as a rub for the gums, increasing the periods of use; or apply it twice each week instead of once, until the system has been thoroughly cleansed.
-
Do these and, as we find, we will bring the better conditions for the body.
-
As to the application for the tendency of accumulations in the cuticle, in the form of warts, a twenty percent solution of the C.P. Hydrochloric will remove these if it is applied sufficiently often; not so as to produce irritation, but often enough that it may DESTROY the tendencies for the broken cells (of which warts are formed) to make or form accumulations.
-
Do this. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Just how often should this be applied? (A) Every day for two or three days; then leave off for eight or ten days, then apply for two or three days again. And they’ll be gone!
-
(Q) Why has the hydrochloric acid had no action on my warts, which are mostly annoying on account of shaving? (A) Not quite as strong a solution, and there has been the tendency for the fumes and activities in and about the body to overcome this. [GD’s note: He was a chemist in a cosmetic lab.] Put it on of evening, when ready to retire.
-
(Q) Is rectal dilation helpful? (A) Be helpful; for, as indicated, this should be a portion of the latter treatments.
-
(Q) Why is there the inflammation of all mucous membranes? (A) Poisons in the system from the ducts about and in the liver.
-
(Q) What should be done for the colitis or hemorrhoids? (A) As indicated, the first portion of the treatments should be to EMPTY the ducts. Later there should be the exercise as indicated, and the application for the necessary drainages to be set up in the system; and these may bring the correction now for this body, [274].
-
(Q) Is there any danger from the inflammation in the bronchial area, as shown by X-Ray? (A) If these applications are made, this will be reduced immediately. We would do that. We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/1/34 EC on awaking from Reading 274-6 said: “It’s funny, I thought there were a whole lot of people here!”
R2. 6/2/34 He obtained Ck. Life Rdg. 274-7.
R3. 6/13/34 He wrote: “Thank you very much for the interesting readings and for your kind letter of June 7th.
“Difficulties are often necessary to build up one’s character, but they are very trying when they affect one’s health.
“I can assure you your devoted help is very much appreciated and I have confidence in your work. So much so that I should like you to give a physical rdg. to a person dear to me on whose care doctors disagree.”
R4. 6/26/34 He obtained 598-1 for his wife.
R5. 7/14/34 He wrote: “Enclosed my contribution to the Emergency Fund.
“Enclosed ten dollars for a ck. physical rdg. which I should like to have as early next week as possible.
“I have followed carefully the treatment outlined in the rdg. of June 1st (osteopathy, Al-Caroid, Radio-Active Appliance). There was a tendency for the better at the beginning, but the last week or so I have been feeling very bad again: burning in the cardiac portion of the stomach, oppression in breathing, constant headache with slight fever at night, great fatigue and nervousness, constipation, restless nights, with practically no relief, gas formations, acidity.
“As I am planning to take two weeks vacation at the end of next week, away from actual city surroundings, I’d like to have suggestions for treatment that could be followed during those weeks, in addition to the immediate treatment to relieve the present acute condition.”
R6. 7/17/34 EC gave him a Ck. Physical, 274-8.

Background
B1. 11/13/33 He obtained Ck. Physical 274-5.
B2. 5/18/34 He wrote: “I was feeling better up to March, but since then I seem to be losing ground again with the recurrence of general fatigue, nervousness, headaches, stomachachy, constipation (is rectal dilation helpful?). [Neurasthenia, etc.?]
“An x-ray has shown some inflammation in the bronchial area which, though, seemed to be healing up by itself. Is there any danger?
“I am using Ipsab once a week with very little relief in the gum condition, still inflamed and bleeding.
“Hydrochloric acid seems to have no action on my warts which are most annoying on account of shaving.
“I have had neuritic pains all over the body, but particularly in the lumbar region, in the prostatic region and along the sciatic nerves.
“I believe, at this time, it would be well to outline completely the new treatment necessary so that there be no possible confusion with previous readings, mentioning the question of diet. There is so much talk now about the combination of foods that one is at a loss to make out what is good and what is bad. Evidently the food chemistry is groping in the dark.”
