This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of December, 1933, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [275], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading … Avenue, 11:25 to 11:55 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. … S.I., N.Y. (Body and soul mind, who wishes to have answered questions in regard to her Egyptian appearance as Ai-Si, compared to this life.)

1. EC: Yes, we have the soul-mind, the appearances, the experiences of the soul-mind [275], in and through the earth’s sojourn, with that which is builded in the body-mind of the soul.

2. Well here in giving this, in passing, that a comment be made for all:

3. When it is considered, or contemplated even, that there was the appearance of matter - and the mind or spirit body of entities in the earth, and they were thought forms; they had a body. Think of that!

4. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Explain this paragraph from the reading of November 21, 1933 [275-35, Par. 7]. “From the activities manifested in the cleansings, in the sacrifices offered, about which the entity was active in the experience, there will be the ability in the present to make in the experience of those with whom the entity has been associated in the activities of their own development, that which will arouse within their inner selves those emblems of service in the experience, THROUGH that which may be visualized by self (in the present) in meditation and in turning within, that those same influences that directed in those activities - that meant so much to the peoples and to the many in the experience - may again be known to men.” (A) To many. It should have been written many at first.

This should in itself, through meditation, carry to the body-mind in the present a real message; for, to put the same in other words: Through the activities of the body, of the mind in the experience, in the cleansing of individuals of that which hindered in their activity of manifesting their soul’s influences and of being their best in the experience, is builded in the body, mind and soul of the present entity those abilities for the body to so visualize in the emblematic way and manner that which will arouse in the inner self of individuals, individual minds, individual souls, that which will aid those individuals in knowing themselves, their weaknesses, their faults, their uprisings, their downsittings. That which enables the individual soul to see itself better. And that which aids each individual or hinders it, or is helpful to it in giving expression of itself in the present experience.

What, then, happens?

The entity, [275] in the present, is capable of entering into the silence, or in meditation, when there may be given to individuals whom the ENTITY has contacted in that experience, see, that which helps and aids them in the present, through the presenting of the emblems, the seal of life of the individual. These reach much farther than many have yet even thought or felt. Take these that have been presented and see what this does to the individual mind of that entity.

6. (Q) Give help how I can develop more in meditation, to attain this. (A) Rather would we refer the body-mind to that which has been given in how to open self, in meditation, and what physically takes place; as to how the body chooses that manner of cleansing, physically, mentally, and how the body surrounds itself with that consciousness of His angels having been given charge concerning thee.

7. (Q) Explain “The title and the activities are clear.” [275-35, Par. 8] (A) The title implies a specific character of work or endeavor, and the clearness as to the vision that may be aroused in others through that activity of this body.

8. (Q) Explain “the entity was that one to whom was meted by the priest and the associates - in the activities of the period - the supplying to individuals that which may be said to have later become that ornament which carried with same the special activities in the lives of individuals of special periods.” [275-35, Par. 14-A] (A) With the cleansing that was the office of the entity in the period in the Temple of cleansing or Sacrifice, and in the office of the entity in the Temple Beautiful through the raising of the attributes of the mind of such ones that were cleansed, there were definite conditions made in the experience of each soul, each entity, each BODY physically so cleansed; such an activity UPON the soul, that it has remained, did remain, with those entities, those souls. Hence the ability in the present to visualize, pictorialize, draw together, that which awakens something in the inner soul of those whom the entity DID contact - and again contacts; and to the entity, to this soul, will become positive proof of its incarnation in the earth. When there arises periods (which there will) when individuals seek their life story in the drawing, in the seal, and nothing comes - or a distortion or diffusion or a confusion of ideas, do not become discouraged, overwrought, nor give away to the first feelings of doubt. But rather turn to self. In the GLORY of the Lord is life for any soul made manifest. If it is not revealed to thee, do not attempt to force same. Let it be revealed rather of HIS guards, HIS attendants, that would draw near to thee!

9. (Q) Explain “For he that guides the hand in the most inmost recesses of the soul has aided in the developments of that as brought all the activities of the entity in the experience.” (A) It’s just been given you!

10. (Q) In which way should I give a seal so that it “is properly given”? (A) Meditate, and that which is given thee set forth. Step by step. That it is given thee step by step, rather than the whole, shows rather the growth - and rather the DIVINE. For, has it not so often been given, “rightly DIVINING the words of truth” day by day? Hence as there is the meditation, through the desire of those that there might be given to them that which will aid them in seeing themselves as they have been, as they are, as they may be, through the applying of that which is helpful, hopeful, that is to be warned of, that is to be shunned, there is ever seen that which is presented through this seeking.

Then, it is asked of self, how - why - is this body gifted or endowed with the ability to enter into the silence and to obtain such closeness of the life force in each soul that seeks?

For, as pointed out, the offices and the privileges had by the entity in that experience (and not abused) have fitted the soul for such an activity. Much in the same manner as in the material life those that have through practice, through application, through promptings of the inner self, fitted themselves to become the guiding hand for an electrical or steam engine do guide the same such as to give the very best to those who use its offices in every direction of activity. So the entity here in the present may guide, direct, through ITS offices of the soul! Not of the physical mind, no - but of the soul mind.

11. (Q) What was meant by the “period when the cloud will be changed somewhat in its contour or position” in regard to my seal? (A) As the self seeks or enters into the meditation, the cloud that is enveloping self or the body-mind through the period of meditation. Not of anything physical, not of anything drawn, but the manner of approach - and the cloud is “lifted”, as it were, so there is the greater comprehension of that presented of self.

12. (Q) To whom should I go in order to learn how to make plaques out of seals? (A) To the inner self, rather than to any individual. As may be guided by the hand from experience to experience.

13. (Q) From what source do I receive the lessons, starting Aug. 20th, and are they true? (A) Step by step are they the developments of the inner consciousness as to the relationship of the self and others to the whole. True as they go, step by step.

14. (Q) Is the message I received on June 28, 1933, true? (A) In part.

15. (Q) Explain the source of these? (A) Just been given. The INNER self and its contact with the sources that may awaken within the soul self the existent forces and influences in the experiences of man - or MANY - or mighty - or the moment. They are one!

16. (Q) Explain the meaning of my aura on Monday night Oct. 30th, seen by Edgar Cayce. (A) The varied colors, the varied emanations, the varied abilities that are being centralized as related to the lives of so many that may be aided by the efforts of the entity in relationships to those. Hence the diffusion and the separations of the various emanations, from contacts that are made by the soul forces with other soul forces in their activity.

17. (Q) Give a personal message regarding my relationship to the work of Edgar Cayce, comparing it with the relationship at the time in Egypt? (A) As in that period those were enabled not only to cleanse the mind and soul of the carnal forces, but of that which hindered from their giving the best expressions of themselves through the activities and associations of the individuals in the experience, so in the present will there be the aiding in making those contacts - through the combined efforts in the activities of each - to aid others to so supply, to give in the experience of many, that which will enable them to become - even as in that experience - a saving influence IN the lives of many. And the period or time will come when the entity, the body, will stand in that stead.

R1. 12/14/33 Hugh Lynn Cayce’s letter to Miss [275]:

“Time does fly, doesn’t it? Almost Christmas and it seems only yesterday that we were in New York enjoying a most pleasant visit with you all - if you will allow the southern expression. In so many ways the trip was the most successful we have ever made to the big city.

I am hoping that you will cooperate in a little matter of preparing a paper on Automatic and Inspirational Writing. There is a definite need among our members for understanding more about this type of psychic development. So many are taking it up and are liable to run into complications. My idea is for this paper to carry the experiences of two or three members who have developed this ability with samples of the writing at various stages of development. Then there will be an introduction and a conclusion of data taken from the readings on the subject. It will contain suggestions for the proper training and understanding of the best sort of writing. Your name maybe or need not be used according to your own desire - would like to use a seal or two if you do not object, as well as some of the more general material. I rather suspect your mother will have some helpful suggestions on the material for this paper. I will be glad to send you the copy before the final mimeographing. All research papers are presented to readings before distribution, too. I will appreciate you letting me know what you think of this.

Well the first letter would have to be one asking that you do something for the association. I have heard of an old saying that the first letters to people are sort of indicative of the trend of future relations. Probably nothing in it.

Your seals have caused considerable interest in the groups here. You will doubtless hear from some of the members who would like to have them. Your last reading was certainly interesting, especially that part devoted to a discussion of the giving of seals for those of the Egyptian period. There are lots of Egyptians - don’t worry. I have my seal hanging up right over my desk and I still think it is the best looking of the lot - though I have a hard time finding anyone who will agree with me.

We are having an open meeting in Norfolk tonight sponsored by all three of the study groups. The last one organized is the largest and most enthusiastic of the three. Dad is speaking on “The Continuity of Life.” There is no telling where it will lead him.

Please give my kindest regards to your entire family and do not leave out Peggy and the “child” if it is still with you. Thanks again for a lovely visit and best wishes for a happy holiday season.

R2. 12/17/33 She wrote Hugh Lynn:

“I will write your father about what I think of the reading, but I will say here that it has eased something deep within me that was wondering, and once in a while doubting, where it all came from - the messages, etc. Being told that it is the soul-mind, not the physical mind, has therefore smoothed something out, which I cannot explain, that I am sure will help me in trying to ‘lift’ the cloud. Being able to recognize people’s faults and weaknesses has been rather embarrassing to me at times. Many a time I have (my mental mind has had) quite some sort of discussion with these thoughts when they arose.

“In regard to that paper you wish to get together (on automatic writing), I will be very glad to do all I can to help you. Just as soon as Christmas is over I will write what I can and send it to you. I think it is a very good idea, because no doubt there are very many who need definite help and ‘warnings’ before attempting to start it.

“This last week Mother and I are very busy doing our yearly Christmas baking, which you will have some of when you come up in January. It’s lots of fun, but between that, practicing and trying to finish painting the family’s seals for Christmas, it is a very busy week. Therefore, I don’t think I will be able to write anything on that article until next week…

“Our Greber meetings are now on Tuesday…

“Please give my love to everybody, and I hope you have a VERY happy Christmas. P.S. You wouldn’t recognize the ‘child.’” [275]

R3. 1/1/34 She requested Ck. Physical Rdg. 275-37, and also wrote EC:

“I thought it very interesting that I would give seals most to those who lived in Egypt too. The explanation of why I receive it step by step answered something that I have really been wanting to know. I haven’t quite the complete under- standing of the answer to my last question in regard to the relationship to your work, but it no doubt will clear itself up as time goes on. I think I understand it, and then it comes over me that I don’t. All the information is such a wonderful help to me. I know that I have said it before, but with each new reading I want to say the same thing.

“Mrs. [413]‘s seal still has to have one more correction, and then I will send it off. [440] spent Sunday with us, telling us all his wonderful experiences in Virginia Beach. He certainly had an interesting stay. He asked me to receive his seal for him. I have it now and it is the oddest thing you ever saw. (Hugh Lynn probably will not agree with me there).”

R4. 1/5/34 Letter:

Dear Hugh Lynn:-

“Don’t think that the mistake in 1934 was a slip of the finger, it simply was that I haven’t yet completely learned that it is 34 instead of 33.

I am sending something that I wrote on Automatic and Inspirational Writing, and also an article on Love that I wrote on October 9 inspirationally and not automatically. [See 5752-4, Par. R2.] You can change anything you wish to suit your needs, or leave out what you don’t need. If you would like some other general information that I have received instead of this one, let me know. Or maybe you could use some of what I sent down in the seal book. I am sending also a copy of father’s corrected seal. (Please put this one in the seal-book in place of the other one) You said something about wanting to put in a seal or two. You can take any ones you have in the book, except, mine, mother’s, [457]‘s, [488]‘s, [412]‘s. These all have slight errors in them which I would like to correct when you come up this month. Mother will remind you to please bring the book up, if it suits you to do so.”

R5. 3/17/34 She wrote: “Just as soon as I get the envelopes I will send you some ‘Seal Booklets’.”

What, then, happens?

Then entity, [275] in the present, is capable of entering into the silence, or in meditation, when there may be given to individuals whom the ENTITY has contacted in that experience, that which helps and aids them in the present, through the presenting of the emblems, the seal of life of the individual. These reach much farther than many have yet even thought or felt.

The laborer, in the spiritual and the mental realm, is ever worthy of the hire. Not for money; not for any desire to exalt self; but each soul that seeks or asks for a seal should at least contribute more than sufficient for the time that is given. Ten dollars. Merely state that this is a contribution for the time, the service - and many would give much more! And when properly given, it will be found that each individual will be as in awe of that given to him.

(In which way should I give a seal so that it “is properly given?”)

R8. 6/26/34 Miss [283]‘s letter to EC:

“The little booklet you enclosed [about Miss [275]‘s seals] is very interesting and we are waiting to show it to a friend who has just recently discovered an old Egyptian seal which had lain in an attic for years. Miss [2842] has psychometrized it several times but we have not yet reached any nearer than about 10,000 B.C., as it was long buried in the sands.”

R9. 7/12/34 EC’s ltr. to Miss [275]: “Wouldn’t it be interesting to see one of these that you made some thousands of years ago? I have asked them [Miss [283] & Miss [2842]] to have the photograph made, if they may. Of course, I want to send it on to you.”

R10. 7/19/34 Miss [283]‘s letter [from Sharon, Mass.]:

“We can hardly wait for the return of our friend, so we may be able to make a copy of the seal - and will gladly send you a plaster cast as soon as I am proficient in reproducing it. In my student days I did make a plaster cast of a modeling of mine, and I hope I haven’t lost my knack. Our friend, Dorothy Wright, offered us a replica if we could produce it, and I know she will be delighted to let you have one. As for the expense, there will be none, as I gladly offer my services in the good cause. I had suggested to her that she show it to the curator of the Egyptian dept. of the Metropolitan Museum, as it seemed so fine a piece of modeling as well as historic in import. She also feels that it has a deep significance and will be thrilled with what we have to tell her.”

R11. 9/22/34 Miss [275]‘s ltr. to EC: “I have been wanting to answer your two letters for such a long time, but with the housework, practicing seal-work and other things, letter- writing has always seemed to be pushed aside. However, I am now getting to it with a great deal of energy and love.

“The Egyptian seal of your friend in Boston interests me extremely, and I would so love to see a picture of it. Could you perhaps give me her name and address, and then I could get into direct touch with her. I hope very soon to get some clay, as the reading suggested, and see what I could be guided to do with it, in regard to the seals. From the readings [275-11, etc.] I sculptured in Greece too, so I really ought to be able to awaken the combination now as the reading directed.”

R12. 9/24/34 EC sent Miss [283]‘s address, saying:

“I have been very much interested in this seal that I wrote you about, and I am sending the replica on to you (that she sent me) for your inspection; and I would like - when you have the opportunity - for you to see what you receive on same. Of course, it is not an original at all. I have tried once or twice to get something, not in taking a special reading but just with trying to carry the impression with me in giving a reading that I would get something. I have only gotten this very hazily, and nothing has come through that has been very definite; but I hope to get something before very long. Of course, I’ll be only too glad to give you the lady’s address whose friend has the original, but I’m anxious for you to see this yourself - as it is - so I’m mailing it on to you; and I’ll be anxious for you to try and get something. I don’t know whether it is just because I know it is not an original that it makes me unable to get anything definite, or what it is; but I think it is MOST interesting. This is what I have gotten so far: That this was made at a much later date than our seals, and was arranged to be worn around the neck of those for whom it was supposed to act as a charm against evil influences and to keep the blessings of those who had been the forefathers of those wearing it. That is all I’ve gotten so far.”

R13. 9/29/34 Miss [275] wrote: “The little plaque arrived, and thank you for the address of the lady in Boston. I can’t quite make out the picture on the plaque, except that it almost looks as if a person was playing a small harp on the left of it. It certainly is an interesting little thing, and I certainly appreciate having seen it, and will send it back soon.” [See also subsequent notations under 275-11 Reports.]

R14. 12/13/38 She wrote from Munich, Germany:

“Here all the children are told the ‘Christ-Child’ brings the tree and toys. How sweetly this thought then turns into the ‘Christ’ in your parents doing the giving when you get older! In this beautiful Christmas atmosphere we are revelling to our hearts’ content.

“School keeps [276] and me busy every second, leaving us time just to sleep and eat. But how we enjoy it! Our teachers are both 1st flutist and 1st harpist at the opera which we hear for 43 cents with our student tickets.

“A very happy and Merry Christmas with love,” [[275] and [276]]

R15. 3/7/39 She mailed Birthday Card to EC.

R16. 11/30/39 She wrote GD: “A climate of more rain has the advantage of many more beautiful sunsets! This scene we see practically every evening. You can imagine how we love it here and how glad we are to be here, especially during these historic times.

“How you would enjoy your meals here! Such things as wild meats! and the good nut and honey cakes! You’d understand everything here except the language.

“A very Merry Christmas to you, Mr. and Mrs. Cayce & Hugh Lynn. Love,” [[275] and [276]]

R17. 3/18/40 She sent Birthday Card to EC.

R18. 4/23/40 EC wrote her mother, Mrs. [255]: “Tell [275] that I had a very unusual dream about her recently. I hope it might come true.” [GD’s note: There is no record of what the dream was.]

R19. 10/8/41 Sister [Mrs. [457]]‘s ltr.: “Haven’t heard from my family [in Germany] for a long time. Guess it is more difficult to get letters through now.”

R20. 5/6/43 EC’s dream during Physical Rdg. 2988-1 [See under 282-2 Reports.], saw [275] and family and details about each, saying: “I never saw [275] look so emaciated.”

R21. 12/10/46 Miss [275] wrote after being back in U.S. a few weeks:

“We are drinking lots of raw carrot and celery juice, but it does take time for our bodies to build themselves up again inside.”

R22. 8/27/51 She wrote: “In reference to MANY MANSIONS by Gina Cerminara, p. 221, in regard to the seals, I would like to mention that at present besides our kindergarten work and musical activities, my sister and I are attending college - so that the day is more than filled. Therefore, I do not care to have anyone get in touch with me in regard to the seals, at the present time.”

R23. 7/7/52 She wrote: “I haven’t made any seals in years (and then only a very few) and do not feel that I can make any just now.”
