This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of June, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [279].

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. [279], Mr. [417], and Mrs. [1192], A. C. Preston and L. B. Cayce.]

Time of Reading 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.J. (Physical Suggestion)

  1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [279] - this we have had before. There is a great deal of improvement in the physical forces of this body since last we had same here. The improvements in mental attitudes, in the physical reactions, in the eliminations as related to both the activities of the alimentary canal as well as the respiratory system, a nearer normalcy in heart’s action, and nearer normalcy in the respiratory system, the pulsation, the pressures. We would merely KEEP, then, for the time, that as has been outlined as respecting the corrections and the forming of the reactions in proper ways and manners through the body.

  2. Ready for questions.

  3. (Q) Could I at present pass an examination for a good sized insurance policy? (A) The only question that would be raised is that of the conditions in the urine, which is produced from alcoholic forces or pressures in the system. Would the body [if the body would] desire to pass, then for two or three days before the examination drink about two coca colas a day - we will pass alright!

  4. (Q) What is cause of pain in back which comes and goes at irregular intervals, and seems so distressing at times? (A) That reaction in the system, or the pressure in the kidney area, from the glands or capsules above same. This is as much REFRACTORY reaction, and not an organic - or even a functional - it is rather as of MUSCULAR forces or pressures, as has been HAD in system, ADJUSTING themselves to the changes in the physical conditions. Keep that as has been given for eliminations; that is, the respiratory system, the irrigations as necessary for coordinating of eliminations, and we will find these will disappear.

  5. (Q) Is smoking injurious in my present condition? For instance, one or two cigarettes after meals, or the like? (A) Not injurious, unless the body thinks so! Having been told this, there come times and periods when they don’t taste good - then throw them away! But when desired, smoke! Be careful of the BRAND you smoke and you’ll be careful of how and when these react upon the system! Those that carry more of tobacco itself, rather than the COMBINATION of others - as would be in Piedmont, or those of such character. Those that carry any of the Turkish tobacco becomes obnoxious!

  6. (Q) Can I take more or less strenuous exercise without ill effect? (A) If taken gradually, would be beneficial to the body.

  7. (Q) The feeling in my chest during the last two or three weeks, as though something were being blocked in my air passage, is this a nervous manifestation only? (A) A nervous manifestation only, and one reason why STRENUOUS exercise - if gone at GRADUALLY - would be well to make the EXPANSION in chest again, see?

  8. (Q) Since I have felt so greatly improved lately, would it be advisable to accept at this time, if offered, the business proposition mentioned in my previous reading? (A) Don’t be too fast about it, and the offer won’t be too quick either! But when taken, and when accepted, don’t start and go to work and think you can burn the candle at both ends again!

  9. (Q) Will this proposition be settled or consummated within the next week or two? (A) If so desired, or PRESSURE is brought to bear, this may be settled. Is that the best THING? Consider many things that are in the making for the body and then choose!

  10. (Q) If I receive the proposal desired, and accept it, will I be successful? (A) If the same ideals in the managerials of the various conditions, or the various affairs, as have been held by the body are kept to, these will be well - but DO NOT OVERDO same at the EXPENSE of the physical or the mental body! Now that isn’t to scare the body, but to just WARN the body - see? The tendency by the body is to do the whole thing or nothing! Now be rather a middle ground man once and see how much better it will be! Work as well as you play, and play as well as you work!

  11. That is all the questions regarding this body.

  12. We are through with this reading.
