-
GC: You will have before you the Glad Helpers, members of which are present in this room, and their work as individuals and as a group. You will answer the questions which will be presented at this time.
-
EC: Yes, we have the group as gathered here, as a group and as individuals, and the work as the group and as individuals are called to do.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Please give six affirmations to be sent to those on prayer list. (A) FATHER, FILL MY LIFE, MY HEART, WITH THE LIGHT OF THE LOVE IN THE CHRIST, THAT MAY CLEANSE ME FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.
MAY THE DESIRE OF THE HEART BE THY DESIRE, THAT THERE MAY BE CREATED IN MY EXPERIENCE THAT WHICH WILL MAKE ME MORE AWARE OF THE CHRIST LIFE IN MY EXPERIENCE.
FILL THOU, O FATHER, MY LIFE WITH PEACE, HARMONY AND JOY IN THE CHRIST LIFE, THE CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS, THAT IT MAY PURGE ME AND MAKE MY LIFE AS THOU WOULD HAVE IT BE.
CREATE IN ME A PURE HEART AND RENEW THE RIGHTEOUS SPIRIT WITHIN ME, CLEANSING MY LIFE, MY HEART, MY BODY, THROUGH THE LOVE IN THE CHRIST LIFE.
FATHER, THOU KNOWEST THE NEEDS OF MY HEART, MY BODY. CLEANSE THOU SAME AS THOU SEEST IT HAS NEED OF, FOR WE SEEK THROUGH THE PROMISES OF THE CHRIST IN OUR LIVES.
LET THE WORDS OF MY MOUTH AND THE MEDITATION OF MY HEART BE IN THE CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS, THAT PURGETH FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS AND MAKETH THE BODY WHOLE IN HIS SERVICE.
KEEP THOU, O FATHER, MY WAYS: DIRECTING ME IN THE CHRIST WAY, THAT HIS PROMISES MAY BE FULFILLED IN MY LIFE.
-
(Q) Please give any suggestions for changes or corrections in the two form letters which I hold in my hand. Will these letters fulfil their purpose adequately? [Pause as EC mumbled as though reading.] (A) These, as we find, are very good. There will be occasions when a personal word in the first may make for more hopeful attitudes on the part of the seekers. In the thanks, in the second, this - too - will at times be necessary.
-
(Q) [537]: How can I be of help to others? (A) In a channel of this nature, give of thy strength of spirit in making others aware that they, too, may know the Christ as their personal Savior in EVERY need, in every hour.
This is done by living that life first in self and then sending it out in His name to those that seek through the aid thou, with others, may be in fulfilling that which is promised by Him, “As ye ask in my name, believing, that will be done in thy experience that the Father may be glorified in me and I in you.”
In this manner may self be of service in the world, in the group particularly.
- (Q) [603]: Please advise me regarding improving my healing meditations. (A) As given, each finds self most in the application of that it knows concerning the Father’s and the Christ’s ways in the hearts and lives of others. Not so much self-development, but rather developing the Christ Consciousness in self, being selfless, that He may have HIS way with thee, that He - the Christ - may direct thy ways, that He will guide thee in the things thou doest, thou sayest.
In this manner may one give of self to others most. Not as self-exaltation, but as glorifying the Christ that the Father may give those good gifts to those that love His ways. [Rom. 8:28? Mat. 7:11?]
- (Q) [2470]: Any advice for me regarding my healing meditations? (A) Let those things that thou knowest be done in meekness and in truth, that the Christ Consciousness may be made more aware in the experience of those thou would aid. For, in all things GOD gives the increase, through the power of the Christ name, as His promises unto the sons of men.
Then, making self a channel, practice and preach - but practice twice to what you preach once.
- (Q) Please give suggestions for improving the health of [415] …, Va. [EC took time to locate body as in giving physical rdg.] (A) Yes. As we find, there have been indiscretions as to the diet of the body. Well that the eliminations through the alimentary canal first be increased. Then that in the present the massage and rubs be continued; and there will be no return of the temperature, provided there are kept those things for the digestive system as indicated. For, too great a quantity of those things that cause congestion in the hepatics will raise the temperature, already tended in this direction by the tendencies for the slow activity.
Keep more alkalin. No carbohydrates or sweets, that have caused this - as also some heavy protein.
- (Q) Is the Lord’s Prayer as recorded in the Bible correct? If not, would appreciate it as was given by the Master to the disciples. (A) This may be given, but rather should the seeker use that which IS given - as the Lord calls on all to do. Make its purpose and its intent a portion of thine self. For, there be many misinterpretations, poor translations, but to find fault with that thou hast and not use same is to make excuses that you haven’t it as it was given. Art THOU on speaking terms with thy Lord? If not, why not? HAVE that rather that HE would give thee, than from ANY other source!
When He gave, “As ye seek in my name, that ye may have if ye believe,” than act that way. He will draw near unto thee [if thou] wilt thou draw near unto Him.
Let thy prayer be that He will ever show thee, direct thee, lead thee. [5/21/34 See also 378-44 re Lord’s Prayer.]
- (Q) Please give counsel regarding our fourth Monday night meeting of prayer, intercession, and how we can make our meetings more profitable. [See GD’s memo #2 in 281-20 Reports.] (A) That with which each individual approaches such an hour is how much each may put into same and get out of same, and do good unto others.
First, let each enter into its own inner self and ask for direction, and - BELIEVING His presence will be with thee. For, He has promised, “Where two or three are gathered together in MY name, THERE I will be in the midst of them.”
Let each, then, so consecrate, so dedicate that hour, that period, to such a service for its fellow man, seeking, knowing, that His presence will be with thee. Then, when He has directed thine group, who - WHO - would question same?
- We are through.
[GD’s memo: On waking EC said he felt as if he has been in a box during the reading. (The room was rather close though it was cool out of doors, and GC had covered his body with a sheet after he had gone to sleep for the reading.)]
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. GD’s memo #2 re 281-20, Par. 11-A: Every fourth Monday night all members of Group #1 (which at that time also included all Prayer Group members) were asked to join in a meeting of prayer and intercession. This was an attempt to bring unity between Group #1 [262] and the Prayer Group [281]. All other Monday night meetings were devoted to Group #1 discussions on the readings obtained by [262] and the preparation of the SFG lessons. Apparently this effort was successful, because after that the members of both groups worked together harmoniously without friction, jealousy or bickering.

Background
B1. Subject of 281-20 - “Glad Helpers.”
B2. 4/5/34 Letter to Mrs. [844] from Glad Helpers Prayer Group Secretary, Miss Edith Edmonds:
“As we are the prayer group of the Association, and as Mr. Cayce has asked that we join with him in praying for and with you, that you may be guided and strengthened in meeting your problems from day to day, I am writing this letter. We want you to feel that we have your interest at heart, and because you have appealed to Mr. Cayce we feel that we are at liberty to offer our services - since our whole purpose is, through cooperative prayer, to help bring peace and harmony and all the good things that are ours for the asking, if we live in accordance with His will.
“We have three periods of meditation each day, but we are putting you on the morning list, 7:00 to 7:15 o’clock, as Mr. Cayce feels that will be more convenient for you. If you would like for us to continue to hold you in meditation during this period, please let us know by returning the enclosed Cooperative Blank.
“The little prayers which we will send to you from time to time (given through Mr. Cayce’s readings) may be helpful to you in holding the meditation with us.
“Hoping that we may be of service in His name, I am” Sincerely, Secretary of the Glad Helpers
