This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of October, 1942, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [722].

Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Oklahoma. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes.

2. As we find, the disturbances are the effects of an unbalanced condition in the nature of a prenatal activity.

3. Yet these are such that we may prepare the body for those things that may be helpful and beneficial to the body, if there is the wholehearted cooperation with those suggestions as may be made here.

4. The drawing in the limbs and the disturbances in the circulation all arise from this chemical unbalance.

5. In the preparation of the body for those applications as may be best made, - we would give internally once every other day an eighth grain of ANIMATED ASH. Empty this dry on tongue and then swallow with a little water.

6. Ten minutes later, after the Ash has been given, you see, apply the Ultra-Violet Ray Light; this the Mercury Quartz, NOT the Carbon Light. This should be at least thirty-eight to forty Inches (38” to 40”) from the body, with a GREEN light - or glass projected - between this and the body - at least fourteen inches (14”) from the body, so that certain rays - even from the Ultra-Violet - are broken up. This would be applied for not more than a minute or minute and a half, to the back - and also along the lower limbs.

7. In the diets, be sure to include all of those especially of Vitamins A, D, C and G. These are those as we find the more deficient in the body.

8. Do not be too active, as to cause overtaxation, but sufficient to prevent the body from becoming too much in that way of giving way to the disturbances in the system - or to those distresses - at times.

9. Follow these applications for thirty days; that is, for at least fifteen of the doses of Ash followed by the Ultra-Violet applied in the manner outlined.

10. Then we would give further instructions for the body.

11. Ready for questions.

12. (Q) What was the original cause of the chemical unbalancing? (A) In the body of the mother, as we have indicated.

13. (Q) Should present treatments be discontinued? (A) This is to be chosen by the body. Read what we have given here. If there is the full coordination or cooperation with these suggestions given here, we may bring helpful influences. But the choices are to be made by the body.

14. We are through for the present.

R1. 11/18/42 Husband’s letter to EC: “This is to report that on the 10th of the month we gave my wife her first of the 15 every-other-day treatments as outlined in your rdg. The Animated Ash held us up several days in getting started. Took it nearly two weeks to arrive from Norfolk.

“I was able to buy a ‘General Electric Sunlamp’, using a U.S. type S-1 lamp in it, which from all information I could get is the Mercury-Quartz bulb. The sunlamp is of 110 volts, 60 cycles, 450 watts, 10 amp. I’m sure this is the correct lamp and bulb, but if it isn’t please let us know. We are using green plate glass acquired here in the city about 18-20 inches from the body, as your rdg. said it should be ‘at least 14” from the body’.

“Her general condition at the start of the treatments was fair. She wasn’t very strong, particularly in the back, which was painful to a certain degree. She was quite nervous and irritable. The incision of recent operation was still draining, as well as area behind knee and small abscess in cheek of hip, - all on right limb.

“When these 30 days are up we will inform you and report the progress of her condition, for further instructions from you.

“The rdg. was accurate in that the affected parts of the body were mentioned, too, we would like to have you answer further of the questions we asked with the original request for rdg., as you get further into the case.

“No one had ever suspected or mentioned to us the possibility of chemical unbalance from the prenatal, tho that seems very logical, now that you’ve mentioned it. We took you to mean this chemical unbalance in the body of her Mother, not in her body during the carrying of our son. Are we right in this assumption?

“Please let us hear from you at your early convenience.”

R2. 11/28/42 Letter from EC to Husband: “Thank you for yours of the 18th, and the report on the condition of your wife, believe so far you have done every thing aright, am sure that is the correct type of lamp and the glass is alright.

“Would gather from the information, your wife must have what is called Scleroderma, the symptoms indicate that at least. Do not know what the Dr.’s have called it. A very troublesome condition, we have through the years had already three cases, called that by Vanderbilt and Mayos, one of those has been cured entirely, both the others are now on the improve. Neither of these have been given exactly the same treatment. But each case the cause has been given as the same as in your wife’s case - and you are correct as I would interpret the information like of something in the body of the Mother during gestation.

“Be glad to hear from you and to do what we can - trust we may bring as much help to your wife as we have to the others, if this is the same trouble.”

R3. 11/30/42 Letter from Husband to EC:

“We have your letter of a few days ago and will report that my wife seems to be some stronger than at the start of these treatments.

“In giving these light treatments we are first throwing the light on the upper back, covering the rest of the body that does not come under the green light, then moving the body or light so that the lower part of the body and limbs come under the green light, both times leaving it on for a minute to a minute and half.

“This series of treatments, namely 15 will be up on the 8th of Dec. and we will appreciate your arrangements for further reading promptly upon completion of the current treatments. Please arrange to notify us by MAIL far enough in advance for us to receive it in time. We find the telegram does not fit our pocketbook. Thanking you for the cooperation…”

R4. 12/8/42 Letter from Husband to EC:

“We are today completing the 15th of the every-other-day treatments with the Animated Ash and Ultra violet ray light. Mrs. [2831] is apparently much stronger now than when the treatments were started. In fact she says she is stronger than in three years or more. The draining has been increased as the treatments have gone along. It seems to us the draining has even been excessive, but then we realize it is releasing poison from her system.

“We will appreciate your early appt. for further rdg. and answering of questions. We are anxious to continue with whatever might improve her health and cure her, and we do believe that so far she is definitely being helped.”

R5. 12/9/42 Letter from Husband to EC:

“We have your letter, received yesterday, and will say that the 14th will be satisfactory for the next rdg., and Mrs. [2831] will be at home, the above address at the hour stated in your ltr. on that date.

“In looking up the meaning of the medical name you previously named [In EC’s ltr. 1/20/42 not the reading] as being the likely what is the disease she has we find that is some type of skin disease, which is definitely not the case. I believe the questions as first asked will well cover her case and I would suggest you cover those questions. We would like for you to cover her case somewhat more thoroughly than in the previous rdg. but of course that is not for us to say. However the more you can give us on the past of the case the more eager we will be to follow your suggestions as given in the Readings. We believe God can heal her through your power, but we must or would like to see your power so we can realize God is working thru you to heal her.

“Can you tell us what the Animated Ash does in the treatments we have been giving. By the way, we have not consulted or asked a Doctor regarding your suggestions for curing. She has had quite a lot of pain in an infection the past few days, this being or appearing to be somewhat a different infection than she has ever had before. She has taken the vitamins regularly for some time now, and particularly as you suggested. Vitamins always give her strength therefore some of the renewed strength mentioned in my letter of yesterday can be attributed to these, however we will give credit where it is due in her condition, and we believe you have helped so far. We will, as you get deeper into the case give you a more complete history of her case so that you will at all times know how close you are to the past facts of it.

“Hoping you can understand our desire to cooperate with you, and to get her well, and the basis on which we lay our faith in your ability to help her, and our reluctance to give you too much information before first hearing from you, we are…”

B1. 10/5/42 Mrs. [2831]‘s husband wrote EC that Mr. [722] of his company had recommended EC and he requested an application blank for his wife. “She has an ailment which seems to me incurable… I will state that my wife is a religious person…”
