This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of March, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [287], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Boyd Davis and Russell Hatchett.]
Time of Reading 4:25 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [287]; this we have had before.
-
Conditions are not so good with this body. And unless there are those precautions taken, and the body less active, there will needs be some anxiety about the general outcome. For the continual engorging of those connections between the heart and the liver, this dilation that produces such a disturbance in the heart pressure, is gradually overtaxing the system.
-
As we find, there should be a closer adherence to the relieving of those pressures in the colon; in the transverse and descending colon, by the use of the colonics WITH the equalizing of the circulation. If this had been done, there would have been much improved conditions.
-
While there is the activity of the alimentary canal, there is - and would be seen if an examination would be made by the fluoroscope or X-ray - an engorgement of the colon. This, making this pressure, with those disturbances in the throat, has gradually increased the slowing of the circulation through the area. And when there is an activity of the body in locomotion, in exercise, the activities are so overcharged that the engorging of the heart has been the result.
-
DO these in the manner as has been indicated. Rather than medications, the use of the diathermy and electrotherapy and hydrotherapy will be those influences that may bring about the nearer normal conditions.
-
Do these under the specific directions, though, of a hydrotherapist that UNDERSTANDS such conditions; who would make examinations and NOT increase the swelling or the backing without REMOVING the disturbance. We are through for the present.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/24/36 [287]‘s letter:
”…Since I received your last reading I lost my sister, sixty-four years old. She had a stroke and lay eleven days unconscious and died and was laid away April 15th.
“I have been bad myself and blood pressure 220. Will write you fully when I am able. Grant Hospital Columbus, Ohio] took pictures and found my condition very bad…”
R2. 8/11/36 [287]‘s letter:
”…It has been some time since I have written you, and at that time I was in a very serious condition; at least that is what three very important doctors here told me, after they had taken two pictures of my chest. They said I would have to keep very quiet and take the pills they gave me four times a day.
“Well, I will admit they had me a little scared, but after taking their medicines for four weeks, and getting worse all the time, I fell unconscious and lay for two hours, and when I came to, I was suffering terribly. Also, they said I would not dare take Turkish baths, as they might cause instant death.
“I then told Mrs. [[…] wife] that I was through with the doctors and that I was going back to your treatment, - olive oil, saffron tea and Iodex salve on my chest; also took the sweats, as you had directed, only that I took them every other day instead of twice a week. After one week I was much better and today I feel fine and believe I could split rails if I had to do so. Although I still have a little pain in my chest, the olive oil and sweats relieve that condition…”
R3. 10/14/36 [287]‘s letter: ”…I am better again. Since my last letter to you, have been bad again, but much better now…”
R4. 12/4/36 [287]‘s letter to EC:
”…Now, Mr. Cayce, I still contend that had it not have been for you I would not have been able to be here today. Although I have suffered a great deal the past three or four months with my throat, but with the applications of the salve you recommended twice a day and the sweats, has reduced the lump in my throat to about the size of the end of my little finger. Four months ago it was about as large as an egg. And I feel sure now that if I continue this treatment according to your instructions, by next Spring I will be able to get my coal mines going again.
“When you receive this letter, Mr. Cayce, let me hear from you as to how you are getting along. I am always anxious to know how your business is, and I may a little later want you to take one more reading, although I believe I am going to get entirely well now…”
R5. 5/20/37 [287]‘s letter: ”…Today is the first time I’ve been downtown since January; hardly able to get out of the house, but much better now. Have got the big LUMP out of my throat. Think I will come out okay now. Your suggestions have brought me out…”
R6. 6/21/37 [287]‘s letter: ”…I have been feeling badly for the past three weeks, most of the time in bed, am getting discouraged, hence my writing you. What shall I do? Hope to hear from you soon…”
R7. 6/28/37 He received 287-19, a volunteered reading.
Background
Background
B1. 8/23/35 He obtained 287-17 for continued pains in throat [which EC said were the after effects of white lead poisoning many years ago].
B2. 3/16/36 [287] verified appointment, saying:
”…I seem to be in bad shape yet, although much better in some ways. Doctors all say it is my nerves, not my throat. But my throat is where I suffer. One doctor says I have too much blood. You have not said that at any time. If I am quiet I feel fine, eat and sleep fine. Ask what causes the pain in my throat, and ask about my nerve condition. Will be at home… Have not done anything the doctors tell me to do for over four years. Your instructions are all I do…”
B3. 3/28/36 [287]‘s letter: ”…Ask about blood pressure and and kidneys. Doctors here say nothing wrong with my throat, only symptoms from the heart…”
