This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of December, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - [2872], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through Mr. [619] via phone.

Time of Reading 10:50 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Florida.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2872].
-
As we find, while there are many conditions very good, there are disturbances that - unless some corrections are made - may eventually bring great disturbances to the body.
-
We find that these have to do primarily with the glandular forces of the body, and the effect being produced upon the chemical reactions in system; and this effect upon the organs through the body, especially pelvis, AND the activity as related to the muscles and tendons.
-
These sources arise from a congestion that has made for a portion of overactivity in the thyroids, and another activity in the adrenals, and an incoordination between the glandular forces in assimilation between the liver and the kidneys.
-
Hence the varied character of disturbances that are thrown into the blood stream; the disturbances that arise at the periods, and those conditions in the tendons and muscular forces as well as those in the superficial circulation.
-
These, as we find, are the conditions with this body, [2872].
-
Naturally these conditions leave, or produce, areas that are reflected in centers from which the varied portions of the organs receive impulse in the coordination between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nerve forces of the body.
-
These we find specifically indicated here, in the present, in the 3rd and 4rd cervical, 2nd and 3rd dorsal, and through the lumbar areas. These now are the result of other disturbances, and thus the character of lesions that are formed there are varied in their reaction to impulses to the organs themselves.
-
Then, in making applications for helpful forces, - we would begin first with Tonicine as a tonic; this to be taken about a teaspoonful each day. This would be as an active principle upon the thyroids, as well as the glands in assimilation.
-
The mechanical application osteopathically given should be the stimulation that will affect, with these cleansings, through the lumbar-sacral as well as in the area from the 3rd and 4th dorsal to the first cervicals.
-
In these applications, - have these rather in series; two to three weeks at a time, then rest from them for a period of a week, and then take them two or three weeks again. Repeat this procedure several times.
-
And these, with those properties indicated, should bring better forces for this body, [2872].
-
Keep in the open as an exercise.
-
Keep the eliminations well with the vegetable forces rather than minerals.
-
Ready for questions.
-
In the application of these, - keep the mental attitude of being constructive in thinking; being in that attitude of using the influences and the abilities for helpful forces for others.
-
We are through for the present.

Attn: Gladys Davis,
Gentlemen:
I received a copy of the Reading by Edgar Cayce, and have gone over it carefully.
Inasmuch as quite a considerable portion covering the diagnosis is not clear to me, I would appreciate it if you would be kind enough to give me a more specific and comprehensive explanation of same, as I feel that a clear understanding of same would aid in deriving greater benefits from following the instructions given.
My application is enclosed herewith.
A history of my case to date will be forwarded as soon as I receive your reply which is awaited with deep interest.
Sincerely yours
R2. 1/11/43 EC’s ltr. to Miss [2872]:
Have yours of the 5th. Thank you for same as I would understand, the suggestion is that while you have other troubles, the main thing to be met is a glandular trouble and the application of the suggestions made should be of a real help at this time. Am sure you understand what is told you to do at this particular time.
If can be of help, don’t hesitate to let me know, for we only wish to help if possible.
Thanking you
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R3. 5/12/43 Letter: “I don’t believe I have ever given you a case history of myself. I am 22 years old and have had eczema since I was 6 mos. old. At the age of 4 yrs. I got asthma. Since then I have never been completely free of the eczema, but have only infrequent - at present one during the year - attacks of asthma. During my childhood these attacks were more frequent. In 1930 I went to Tucson, Arizona. I spent 9 1/2 yrs. there. During that time I always improved during the summer, and became worse with the colder weather. I was born in Chicago, Ill., and went back to see my parents in 1931 and 1933. Both trips proved detrimental, though they were made during the summer months. In 1939 I came to Florida and have found the climate here more beneficial than anywhere else. I went to Mayo Brothers when I was 9 yrs. old. After a few months of experimenting they recommended travelling till the right place was found
- a place where I would be able to live more comfortably. I’ve seen doctor upon doctor and have had innumerable scratch tests for allergy. Nothing seems to work. During the past winter I’ve had an attack of asthma and my eczema became infected for about a week - at separate times. The osteopathic treatments were not regular because of the condition flaring up. The eczema is on my shoulders, neck, crease of the elbows, crease of the knees, wrists, and fingers. At present my face is almost completely cleared, although up to this past year it has been there as well as the other parts named. X-Ray treatment given in small doses
- 75 units at a time, followed a few days later by the same - never fails to help greatly. However, the effect is not lasting. In 2 or 3 weeks the eczema reappears - I have never tried it for asthma. There is nothing more than I can add. The things I have found to be most beneficial are warm weather and sunshine. If there is any more information you would like to have, I would be more than glad to supply it.
“I am in the middle of the book THERE IS A RIVER and I’ve found it intensely absorbing. My father had business dealings with Dave Kahn and received a letter from him not long ago. This, coupled with your reading, seemed to bring you and all the other characters in the book very close to home.
“On Dec. 30, 1942 you gave me a Rdg. in which you recommended osteopathy. In Feb. I began to go to Dr. John M. Larimer, 456 - 41st St., Miami Beach. I gave him your instructions for treatment and we proceeded - I received treatments on Feb. 13, 15, 17, 19, 22, March 15, 17, 19, 22; April 5, 7. Since then I have had none. My trouble is eczema and asthma, and when the eczema becomes severe it is almost impossible to have osteopathic treatments. Whether Dr. Larimer followed your instructions in full, or not, I don’t know. In any case, I would like to make an appointment for a Ck. Rdg., and also a Life Rdg.”
- Is there a place that would be more beneficial to my health than Miami Beach, Fla.?
- Is there an ointment or lotion which would prove more soothing and healing to my skin than the one I am using at present?
- Would a trip to Chicago during the summer months prove detrimental to my health?
R4. 5/20/43 “I finished reading THERE IS A RIVER and found it more fascinating and enlightening than anything I have ever read. I am going to send for A SEARCH FOR GOD immediately.
