This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of January, 1936, in accordance with request made by his daughter, Mrs. [578], over phone to Hugh Lynn Cayce, through Active membership of his wife, Mrs. [413], in the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 12:00 to 12:10 Noon Eastern Standard Time. …, Va. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [289]; this we have had before.
-
While there are some changes, as we find, conditions are still rather serious - and are to be reckoned with.
-
If the body, as we find, would follow those suggestions that have been indicated, these WOULD make for further CORRECTIVE forces.
-
The arising of the temperature again is produced by the lack of the cooperation or coordination with the eliminating channels to the lungs and the respiratory system, where the greater portion of the congestion is caused.
-
We would find that, still, the use of the Antiphlogistine would be well, in such a way as to keep DOWN this - IF the eliminations are kept open! If they are not kept open, then this - to be sure - makes for hardships upon the whole of the system.
-
The rubbing of the lower portion of the spine, of course, or across same, with the alcohol and the olive oil is helpful.
-
We would CONTINUE with the cathartics that have been indicated for the production of the activity with the eliminating system.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is there anything the doctor is doing that is interfering, or helpful or harmful? (A) Whenever there are sedatives, this only makes for a greater congestion in the eliminating system - unless those properties are taken to cause this to become active. Otherwise, very good.
-
(Q) Please advise those who wait on the body as to how to get him to take the Liver Regulator and adhere to the other treatments. (A) If he won’t, he won’t! Then he must pay the consequences!
Just insist - and have those done.
-
(Q) Any other advice? (A) Do this, as has been indicated - as we find, is best for the body.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/13/36 Daughter [578] reported: “He wouldn’t cooperate. We took him to the Protestant Hospital. Mother [413] got the cooperation of Dr. S. Byron Pope, Jr. [M.D.] in giving enemas, working on the liver, etc. He couldn’t find the seat of infection, other than as the reading gave.
“Please have the A.R.E. Prayer Group to continue to hold him in meditation for healing.”
R2. 2/13/36 We heard that Mr. [289] had returned to work.
R3. 2/27/36 Wife [413]‘s ltr.: “It seems such a long time since I’ve seen you. I was disappointed to hear you were leaving Monday a.m. [for Detroit] instead of Tues. I was looking forward to seeing you Mon. night. I had so much to tell you about Mr. [289]‘s illness and remarkable recovery. It is such a long story I can’t take time to write it, but suffice it to say that it was the most wonderful demonstration of all things working together for good for those who believe in God. You see, the doctors could not diagnose his case, but through a reading you did. I could not follow the instructions of the reading, but the hospital could and unconsciously did. I am beginning to understand and realize what you meant when you said once, that it was not always the individual who spoke or acted, but the office performing through that individual.
“Believe me it is my sincere prayer that the same spirit will perform through those in authority in regard to your present difficulty, that has so helpfully manifested through you for so many others in so many ways.”
R4. 3/7/36 He and his wife were present for his Ck. Physical 289-6. He said about his recent stay in the hospital:
“Dr. W. B. Martin [M.D.] asked Dr. […] if he could come in and examine me; he took blood test, etc., did nothing else I had not asked him to come in. Later he sent me a bill for $18.” [Mrs. [413] said it was noised around that he might have typhus fever. His rdg. 289-6 said it was a type of typhus combined with a tubercle germ loose in the blood supply.]
Background
Background
B1. 1/8/36 He received Ck. Physical 289-4 for broken cells and congestion in lungs.
B2. 1/11/36 Daughter [578] phoned: “He was better until 12:30 P.M. yesterday when his temperature suddenly rose again. We haven’t been able to get it down since. We are having trouble getting him to follow the treatments suggested. We had the doctor for him last night who said everything we had been doing was good; he gave a sedative to make him sleep.”
