GC: You will go over this body carefully, give the cause of the present conditions, with suggestions for help and relief; answering the questions that may be asked:

EC: Yes - yes, we have the body here, [2892].

As we find, there is rather the acute condition from cold, congestion, through the alimentary canal.

And from the age, and the character of the disturbance, it produces tendencies for inflammation in the colon, - or a colitic tendency.

That there has been a keeping of the tendency for alkalinity through same HAS prevented this from growing much worse. It is not beyond repair, but it is not beyond a serious disturbance as yet.

Do not overfeed, but rather underfeed - until conditions are checked.

Do keep up the Glyco-Thymoline; two drops in a little water two or three times a day - keeping this up until the odor of same may be discerned in the stool.

Do apply across the abdomen at least four to six layers or thicknesses of gauze saturated in the Glyco-Thymoline, warm. Don’t have it so hot as to burn, but apply warm - and leave it on until it cools off - about fifteen to twenty minutes. Do this two or three times a day, until there is no heaviness or hardness indicated in the abdomen. Unless this is done, we will have serious troubles.

Do give the enema each day for some days, to purify or clear the colon area; not so much as to cause strain or to irritate, to be sure, but enough to keep eliminations. Make the water just a little tendency for alkalinity with the Glyco. Or a little Olive Oil may be injected first, to prevent irritation of the membranes; at least with the first one or two that are given.

Do keep the Castoria occasionally; that is, give consistently, one to two drops every hour or so during the day until there is the working through the system; then skip a day, or two or three days (depending upon the condition), and give again.

Do give a little of the Yellow Saffron for the next few days. Pour a pint of boiling water over half a teaspoonful of the Saffron and allow to steep (as regular tea) for an hour. Then take a teaspoonful in a tablespoonful of water, - making this palatable, not too hot nor too cold, - and take this amount throughout the whole day, you see, a little whenever it will - between the meals. These are the proportions, you see. Make the tea fresh each day.

(Q) Should the milk formula be changed? (A) Get along with this the best you can - with what you have, see? This may be changed when there is more age, or when there is a better condition. Give as little and as far apart as possible for the present, until the acute condition is removed. It is better to be crying for food than to overfeed; for with this phlegm and mucous through here we can easily have colitis, or even inflammation of the whole alimentary canal.

(Q) Would it be wise to decrease the milk in his formula? (A) As just indicated, this will have to be tested; giving less milk and less often, until the acute condition is checked. Do not overfeed, rather underfeed, as given.

(Q) Is his profuse perspiration normal? (A) When he is suffering so, it is certainly normal! Very straining and draining on the body for such, of course.
