This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of June, 1943, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [2111], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., by the aunt [288].

Born January 9, 1943, 4:43 A. M., St. Vincent’s Hospital, Norfolk, Virginia. Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:25 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Va.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records of that entity now called [2892].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them here, there is much to be chosen from; but this we choose with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling the entity - and those responsible for the entity - to fulfil that purpose for which it entered at this present period of sojourn.

4. For, as will be seen in not too distant a future, all those souls that enter the material plane through the period of ‘43, ‘44 and ‘45 will apparently be destined to fulfil interesting roles in their service to their fellow man, and find a very unusual approach to same.

5. As with this entity, as we find, if given the opportunity in its environs, he is destined to be a professional man in this experience; preferably, - as will be seen by astrological urges as well as the sojourns in the earth, - in the fields as of medicine, or dentistry, or as a pharmacist. ANY of these will be channels through which the entity may attain nearer the fulfilling of those purposes.

6. As the entity develops, it will be seen that at times be will be more determined and kind of inclined to be stubborn, and what he knows he will know better than anyone else!

7. Thus it will require that there be the reasoning with the entity, as its life and its experiences gradually unfold.

8. He will have a great imagination, but do not rebuke the entity for telling “tall tales,” for they to the entity will be true. Just impress as to how these may be used in the application of self towards spiritual, mental and material unfoldments.

9. He will be inclined to be extravagant in self, in his words, in his activities. This, too, will need to be - not curbed, by “You CAN’T do this,” or “You CAN’T do that,” but giving him other activities to do that will create in the experience the constant appreciation of time, of space, and of being consistent in that he speaks as well as in that he does.

10. Astrologically we find Venus, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter as influences in the entity’s activity.

11. In Venus we find the love of the beautiful. This will make for the urge that everything attempted, if directed, will be WELL done. And it will require patience on the part of those responsible for the entity, in making the EARLY choices for the entity, and in the manner of directing.

12. We find in Mercury the high mental abilities.

13. In Mars with Mercury we find quite a busybody, not inclined to interfere with others but of wanting to have his own way, and knowing a little bit better just how to do things than anyone else! This will require directing activities.

14. We will find in Jupiter, as the unfoldments come, the greater universal consciousness, giving the abilities which WERE expressed by the entity in an experience as toward things and conditions associated with the anatomical structure of an individual. For, the entity was Harvey, - Dr. Harvey, [1578-1657] discoverer of the circulation, and knew more about it than anyone else! Though proven to be in error in many things, he still insisted he knew the best! The activities of that entity are well known, and if studied will give those responsible for the entity an idea as to the problems to be met.

15. But DO give the entity those opportunities of study, especially in that field either as a pharmacist or as a dentist, and he will do the rest himself as he goes along with these activities!

16. Then, as to the other appearances that would be given here:

17. Before this [the present incarnation] the entity was in the French land, during those periods when there were the disputations with the Louises, [XV-XVI?] Richelieu, [Duc de Richelieu; 1696-1788, marshal of France?] and those activities in the church, as well as of state.

18. The entity then was oft between many fires of disputations. And thus, still holding himself aloof from others, he will know a little bit better just how everyone else should act!

19. The activities then, as Count Dubourse [Dubois?] made great contributions to the activities as related to CLEANLINESS as in relationship to disease; though the entity made no pretenses, yet - as he indicated to others - he knew better than others, and in THAT instance DID! as to the needs of same, especially as associated with or in activities related to disease that could be transmuted, or those commonly called the “catching” diseases; that these come not only from microbes but may be carried by individuals as well as by things.

20. Thus, in the present experience, it will be found that the entity will be inclined to be CLEAN about its person, though “messy” about a house. These are the natural inclinations, as the extremes indicated in the characteristics of the individual entity in that experience, and will find expressions in the present.

21. Before that (not counting the experience as Harvey, [Dr. William Harvey incarnation - 1578-1657] which is well known) we find the entity was in the Roman and the Grecian land, and with those activities and things having to do with entertainment, and those things which had to do with the dance.

22. Thus you will find the entity an especially SOCIABLE individual on the quiet; that is, he will have his own group of friends and rarely letting others know as to who they are.

23. These, as we find, were the same inclinations indicated in the entity then as Rhouel, who made connections between the Grecian and Roman activities in preparing entertainment for royalty as well as the interests in the common peoples.

24. And the entity will be one of those who keeps his friends quite separate!

25. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, in those activities which had to do with the preparation of individuals in the vocational guidance.

26. There we find the entity standing at disagreement with many of those things that were proclaimed by the Priest and some of those that followed in those activities, and yet the entity did a good work in the aiding of individuals, and in the segregating of individual groups in the MENTAL as well as in the relationships in the blood activities, through the findings as indicated through those actions in the Temple of Sacrifice.

27. The name then was Su-Gahdt.

28. As to the abilities of the entity, then:

29. As indicated, you have an unusual entity here, provided there is given the opportunity - and the training in the early experiences of the entity’s life - in those activities that deal with those channels through which the entity may make the greater contribution to the material as well as the mental and spiritual activities in this material sojourn.

30. Then, in those directions, do keep the spiritual life balanced with the mental or purpose life. And as a normal balance is kept, we will find those abilities manifesting themselves in a way and measure as to bring blessings to many peoples.

31. Ready for questions.

32. (Q) What have been the past associations with the following, and what strong points should be cultivated in present associations: The mother, [2111]. (A) As indicated, in those activities in many places - AS a directing influence, especially in Egypt. Thus there will be the needs for not too great a disagreement ever arising between the two.

33. (Q) The father, […]? (A) In the French experience, as well as in the Egyptian - where we find an association more as in opposition one with another. So, expect a good many spats between ‘em!

34. (Q) The aunt, [288]? (A) In the French experience, as well as the activities in the sojourn just before that.

35. (Q) The cousin, [1208]? (A) Here we find an association in the Egyptian only.

36. (Q) For what purpose did the entity come to the present parents? (A) That in the experience of each there may be the greater lessons not only of patience but of persistence, and for the realization that they are “not forgotten of God”.

37. We are through for the present.

R2. 6/53 Report by mother, [2111]:

“Has shown particular interest in the physical body since a tiny child, and especially anything having to do with the heart and the circulation of the blood. He also definitely has the trait of insisting he is right. He never wants to admit that another’s explanation of anything is better than his. Has been an A-1 student, boasts of having had better grades than anyone in school. Has a mind that researches into knowledge along whatever line he gets started. Has a phobia about germs - washes his hands all the time - definitely ‘hipped’ on the subject. Doesn’t want to live in a big city because of ‘all those people breathing germs on you’. He’s learned all the Presidents and thinks anybody is dumb who doesn’t know them. Although we have never discussed his reading with him, he insists he’s going to be a doctor. Has a paper route (at 10 yrs. old) and is saving money towards college.

“We have four other children, all entirely different - these traits are definitely peculiar to this child, just as Mr. Cayce stated when he was six months old.”

R3. 1/11/58 He [2892] told his Aunt [288]:

“I saw a book in the library on astrology - looked up my birthday and saw Sir William Harvey’s name listed as famous people born on my day…interesting -” [Not [2892]. GD]

R4. His aunt reported that [2892] loved plant life of all kinds and the study of nature. He would spend every spare minute in visiting a large State park near his home.

In re diet: [2892] began to put on too much weight; he quickly lost it by dieting and using his will power. He has since watched his diet and maintained correct weight, whereas his sister, [1635], has struggled for years trying to diet to lose weight. She doesn’t understand how [2892] has the will power to resist tempting foods.

R5. 1/9/63 Mother [2111]‘s report: “Today [2892] is 20. He married on his 18th birthday and his second son was born this morning on his birthday. He dropped out of college for a year but then got his job at the Post Office arranged so that he could attend college in the mornings, working in the late afternoons and evenings. He is doing splendidly in every way. His greatest interests seem to be in science studies, especially biology (botany, genetics, etc.). He has not yet decided (in his second year of college) on his major; perhaps he will teach, he says.

“A-2 [Par. 33-A] of his reading regarding ‘spats’ with his father was especially true through his teens. The reading was absolutely correct in A-1 [Par. 32-A] regarding our relationship. In fact, I can’t think of a single instance where the reading was not exactly right.

“A-4 [Par. 35-A] in interesting. The wives of [1208] and [2892] are close friends and it looks as if their children will grow up closely associated and harmonious.”

R6. 12/18/80 GD’s note to Charles Thomas Cayce in re setting straight at least one of the so-called “mistakes” of Edgar Cayce criticized in The Fate Book Review of Lytle Robinson’s IS IT TRUE WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT EDGAR CAYCE (which was taken from Noel Langley’s EDGAR CAYCE ON REINCARNATION, although I could find no mention of this case in Lytle Robinson’s book):

In re Lytle W. Robinson’s new book IS IT TRUE WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT EDGAR CAYCE, I suggest that W. H. [Howard] Church review the book in the Journal introducing Lytle Robinson as an individual who had a Life Reading from Edgar Cayce (See 3/1/53 Searchlight, IMPACT OF A LIFE READING, reprinted also in 3/69 A.R.E. Journal, taking a mature viewpoint on his reading). Also in the Journal review Howard could clear up the confusion about Richelieu and Sir William Harvey being contemporaries. (See 2892-2 incarnation used in Langley’s book on REINCARNATION, made much of in the recent FATE review of Lytle’s book.) I have added a bracketed note on the margin of 2892-2 [at the time it was brought to my attention when the Langley book came out] indicating that Sir William Harvey DID live during the time of Cardinal Richelieu [1585-1642], but the first incarnation preceding the present one was as Count Dubourse [Dubois?] in France during the time of Richelieu, the marshal of France [1696-1788, during Louis XV-XVI?]. Noel Langley in his book EDGAR CAYCE ON REINCARNATION made the mistake of saying Cardinal Richelieu, though the reading did not say which Richelieu, only saying it was at the time “when there were disputations with the Louises, Richelieu, and those activities in the church, as well as the state”. [Noel Langley paraphrased all of this, not quoting the reading which if done might have prevented all the hullabaloo.]

It is not clear whether [2892]‘s incarnation was at the time of the above Richelieu or his grandson Duc de Richelieu [1766-1822]. I have bracketed my note for the [1696-1788] marshal of France Richelieu because in the answers to [2892]‘s questions as to past associations with his family that period seems to be pinpointed. Maybe Howard Church can figure it out.

PS: In the review of Lytle’s last book for the Journal I think all his past books on “the work” should be listed, pointing up especially the one article which I think has done the most good for us - the August 1965 issue of THE COMMONWEALTH, published by State Chamber of Commerce, Richmond, VA., “EDGAR CAYCE - Astonishing psychic of Virginia Beach”, five pages with pictures [reprinted 1/66 in The A.R.E. Journal].
