This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of June, 1931, in accordance with request made by her sister - Miss [288].

Born May 29, 1916, in Dallas County, Alabama, about 3 miles from Eleanor, on what was then known as the “Cammack” place. Time of Reading 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, as are latent and manifested in the entity in the present, [2111].

2. In entering the present experience, we find the entity coming under the ASTROLOGICAL influences in Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Uranus and Mars.

3. In those conditions, then, as are latent or manifested as INFLUENCES that are making for the personality of the entity - being, and in the developing mental period, these may be SEEN as influences, or as INFLUENCING the thoughts or the trends of activities of the entity more than as characteristics, or as things builded. These will indicate, though, that to which the entity may attain in the present, GIVEN the OPPORTUNITY for the self-expression, and as to how much or how little the urge will be that the entity will act for itself.

4. ONE warning SHOULD be had by ALL that CONTACT or are responsible for the influences in the entity’s experience: DO NOT break the WILL OF the entity by force, or by the use of any experience, else when the entity breaks OVER SORROW would come to those causing or bringing same about!

5. In Jupiter we find that, that makes for the delving into the many various phases or fields OF experience; a reader, a student, a domestic INCLINED - with the DESIRES, ambitions, for SELF-expression in whatever field the entity may choose, and to be away from those surroundings, those environs, that have been in the early experience of the entity; the desire to seek new fields, new experiences, new associates, new associations - yet as to that that is to BE the RULE of the life, is not yet definite within the entity’s mental force. This, as we find, will be settled within the next year, through that influence as will be seen from Jupiterian influence - as will begin again in October, present year.

6. In Venus, we find that tendency as makes for one NOT bold, yet not timid; not outspoken, yet with very definite ideas of self - and it doesn’t matter whether it coincides or suits the others or not, that’s their opinion!

7. One that, in sympathy - or THROUGH sympathy for others - can be RULED, yet it ISN’T ALWAYS in accord, nor does it make it right for the entity! yet love’s INFLUENCE, that of kindness, that of gentleness, that of soft, easy words, may influence the entity a great deal.

8. In those in Uranian makes for these EXTREMES in likes and dislikes. Slow to make companions of any, yet liked, and liking most all that the entity meets.

9. In MARS, that that may come in the middle portion of the experience, when it (this influence) is again the ruling factor in the entity’s present sojourn or experience, which will occur in 1939.

10. In the appearances and their effect upon the present experience:

11. In the one before this we find in that land of nativity, and in the city then called the Paris of the new world. The entity was then of that household, among those peoples in that land of high estate, in the name Audubon [Lucy Bakewell Audubon?]. In this experience those of material things, of EARTHLY things, were the care of the entity. Though lame in the physical body, the mental being alive, alert, to the conditions, and a NATURALIST by choice and by the understanding was the entity’s experience. The entity gained through the greater portion of this experience, and in this same field of endeavor might the entity gain even in THIS experience much of that that would be helpful and EASY to understand, ESPECIALLY that portion as pertains to birds and flowers.

12. In the one before this we find in that land now known as the Persian, and during that period when there was the overrunning of the land by those peoples in the plains, or in the lands and the hills. The entity was then among those of the bedouins, and came to know many of the captives, especially of those of the household of the RULER as was deposed, for the entity had much care of those peoples, and with the establishing of a different RULE in the desert land the entity then rose to ONE of power in this experience, being in the position as the wife OF one of the chief RULERS under Uhjltd. The entity then gained much through the service given to those peoples, in the understanding of applying those of the hand, and of the WEAVING of things from the field, from the desert, in the preparing of those things for the bodily comforts from the raw materials of the land. The entity was still the traveller, going to many of the various lands with the companion to gather data, as WELL as to seek aid for the outlet of that as was made by the peoples. In the name Sushua. In the present is seen that innate ability to be handy at most anything pertaining to the home, or the building up of same, yet outward fields - or far fields - still call.

13. In the one before this we find in that land known now as the Egyptian, and during that period when there were DIVISIONS in the land. The entity was then the one to whom the offspring [288] of the priest was put in care of during that exile, and to the death of that offspring. The entity not unkind, nor not over gentle at that period, being bound by those secular conditions and divisions, and diversions as arose in that period. The entity lost, the entity gained, the entity lost through this experience. That builded must be met in EVERY plane. That as is merited; for as we mete, so is it meted to us again. Hence, as is seen innate in the present, that desire to be mindful of, but never bound by, sickness, affliction, or the care of those who are UNABLE to care for themselves, becomes an AWFUL BURDEN to the entity. As does pity of self for such conditions or surroundings. In the name Leuine. In the present much of these must be met in their various fields and ways and manners.

14. In the abilities of the entity, and that to which it may attain, and how:

15. There has been much gained, there has been much lost. First the entity must find self, and that that it may hold to as an ideal. In the field of MAKING for self a name, a reputation, in the earlier portion of the life, will be a manner, a way, in which the entity may meet, may know, may get an understanding. In contacts in the various fields of endeavor. But first find self. That that will have to do with the close association of individuals, or peoples, will be the greater field of endeavor. FIND SELF! KNOW SELF, self’s relationships to the Creative Forces! for until the activities of an entity is a building one, LITTLE may be accomplished! LEARN what THAT meaneth! Ready for questions.

16. (Q) Would the body be especially adapted to beauty culture work? (A) May ADAPT self! Not especially adapted, but may ADAPT self to same! The ADAPTABILITIES would be in that that would have to do with secretarial work at pertaining to ornithology, or any of those that have to do with histology, or the sciences of birds, animals, worms, butterflies, or such!

17. (Q) Where should she have this training? (A) Depends on which training she is to take! Choose first that which the entity would do! Then, as this is chosen, the fields and the manners, and the ways in which that it may accomplish will be opened for the entity!

18. (Q) In what way can her sister [288] be of the most help to her? (A) As companionate, or as advisory, or as aiding in an UNDERSTANDING of self and self’s desires and wishes, and abilities!

“First, the husband is Catholic and [2111] Protestant, and religion has never been any problem, which, as it should to all Americans, shows that all people can and should get along, and there is no necessity for religion being any bar. This is the happiest family I have ever known, and for years I was Vice-Chairman of the Community Chest in … and so have known many families.

“[1635], eldest child, graduated from … College with twice the credits necessary.

“[2892], next oldest, is working nights while finishing … College.

”[…] next oldest stars in athletics at … High School.

”[…] 12, was a year ago President of … School, with 1800 students.

”[…] youngest, was valued by one teacher as ‘genius’.

“And this family has been raised on salary of … Clerk, an ‘average’ American family which has set a high standard for any family in many ways. All of the family really ‘shine’ in many ways. ‘Twould make a good story.”

R6. 7/60 Daughter, [1635]‘s report: “As far back as I can remember, Mother has always made our garden of flowers and vegetables a thing of beauty in the neighborhood. This would seem to be a natural influence from her Audubon incarnation, according to the reading.

“Her Life Reading is true in so many ways that I can see. For instance, the reference to illness. Although a perfect wife and mother, there are times when the tedium of her job becomes almost unbearable. This happened once when my ailing great grandmother came to live with us for a while.”

R7. 7/63 Sister’s report: “None of the above inclinations were evident at the age of 15 when the reading was given. Edgar Cayce really saw the great potential within this individual for a great home builder. It is true, as the reading said, that she can handle efficiently any situation having to do with the home, the many details connected with running a home. She is a leader in her community and home affairs.”

GD’s note: Since [2111] was told that [1635] was her little daughter in the Audubon period of sojourn and that she lived in the Paris of the new world (New Orleans, La.?) among those peoples of high estate, I think she must have been perhaps a granddaughter or an in-law of Lucy Bakewell Audubon who only had two sons [She apparently did not live anywhere near New Orleans]. It is interesting that [2111]‘s present given name is similar; that is, the name ‘Lucy’ could be a derivative from it.
