This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of April, 1928, in accordance with request made by self - Edgar Cayce.

[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. L. B. Cayce and Dr. Thomas B. House.]

Time of Reading 6:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va. (Check Physical Suggestion)

  1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. This we have had before. Now, we find while there is near normal functioning of the organs at the present time, this is due to suggestion and the effect of the body being under the subjugation of the psychic forces of the body. In the normal waking condition we find there are evidences of those existent conditions as have been given, namely, that of the effect of adhesions causing fermentation, and the effect is the reinfection, or the effect of poisons assimilated in system that produce pressure in and about scar tissue, [intestinal stricture from appendectomy years ago?] or the nerve center from which the impulse radiates, or both. At times this [the neuritis?] is in the lower extremities; then we find from tissue. When in the upper, from that of the adhesions, the radiating centers coming from the 9th, 8th and 7th dorsal, with the lower from the 12th dorsal and 2nd lumbar region. These produce, then, this condition. And to meet the needs, care should be taken in that as eaten by the body, and by the manipulation given to break up the lesion, and the sweats to remove the disturbing condition and produce the nearer equilibrium in the system.

  2. The sweats should be taken at least every other day, until the condition is entirely relieved, as should the manipulation - thirty to forty such treatments should relieve the body, were care and persistence, and consistence, adhered to by the body. Do that.

  3. Ready for questions.

  4. (Q) How often should he have the osteopathic treatments? (A) At least every other day.

  5. (Q) Should the osteopathic treatments be taken the same day of the sweats, or alternate with same? (A) Best were these taken the same day, for the effect of one is to coordinate with the other.

The body should not subjugate the physical for the psychic when under the influence of any form or character of medicinal properties, nor when there is the derangement of physical functioning organic conditions. [Work:E.C.] Only when a body is materially deformed, in that orthopedic manner, may the effect of the psychic forces operating not injure a body when not functioning properly. For, as is seen, there is taken the vital’ [elan vital] from the system under such subjugation. Hence those injunctions as have been given as respecting there being consistency with the effect of the functioning forces of this body.

  1. (Q) What should the diet be? (A) That more in accord with the exercise taken. Not so much as WHAT, as HOW MUCH taken.

  2. (Q) Should the body rest from the psychic work for a while? (A) Until the body is very near normal - two to three days at least.

  3. (Q) Should the body take the sweats from the lights, or from the steam also? [Dry heat cabinet from electric light bulbs, or wet heat from fumes rising.] (A) Alternating would be preferable, for there are the therapeutic values in each operation. One affects more the respiratory system, while the other that more of the assimilating and eliminating system. Drink plenty of water before such treatment, and well that the head be kept cool by cold cloth on same at such periods.

  4. (Q) Should the osteopathic treatments come before the sweats or after? (A) Better before. One works up the condition, the other works out.

  5. (Q) Any further suggestions? (A) Do those for the present. There may be more later.

  6. That is all the questions.

  7. We are through for the present.
