-
EC: Eliminants for the system are necessary, but to keep same in the inclination more of the non-acid will be better for the body. With the salines that may be taken as eliminants, follow close with phosphates, or magnesia [Milk of Magnesia?], that will sweeten and perform the nearer alkaline functioning.
-
(Q) Is there anything in the present diet that should be eliminated? (A) Not eating at present. Digestion has already taken place; nothing in that except acids that should be eliminated.
-
(Q) What should the body eat? (A) Non-acid foods, until the condition is better corrected.
-
(Q) Would it be well to take either the light [dry cabinet sweats] or steam baths? (A) Neither at present. Later, when these conditions are more localized, it would be well to take the sweats occasionally.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/19/28 He wrote Mr. [257]: “Glad to say I’m feeling somewhat better.”
R2. 12/7/28 He wrote Mrs. [635]: “Since the dedication of the Cayce Hospital on 11/11th I haven’t really been well at all. I’ve been up most of the time, but not well.”
R3. 11/30/28 Mr. [900]‘s letter to EC:
Was certainly worry to hear of your illness and strongly urge that you do not let the press of affairs cause you strain and worry but rather let things develop in their natural course even if, to relieve your own pressure, the development of the institution takes more time. [Work:EC. See 254-46, Par. 4-A, 8-A.] Rome was not built in a day, and it is better that things be taken with a little greater ease and the institution opened a month later, or even two months later, than that things be rushed and pressure became too great upon you. It has been tough on you, we all know, and as soon as possible the details should be taken off your hands in order that you may devote your time to that part of the work that is most essential to the whole institution, for without your work the institution becomes no more than any ordinary hospital, which is far from what we intend it to become. Therefore, I urge that you rest and rather than worry about details, let things progress and develop slowly rather than in too great a hurry, for there is strain enough under those conditions without worrying yourself about pushing them to the utmost. I am sure everything is coming out far beyond our wildest expectations. [Subsequent letters of EC indicate he had the flu around 12/15/28.]
R4. 12/26/28 He obtained Ck. Physical rdg. 294-119.
