Time of Reading 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Periodic suggestion for EC’s welfare.)
-
EC: [11/22/33 A.M. Following 452-7:] Follow that given.
-
[11/22/33 P.M. Following 257-125, EC advised in re his own health:] Follow that given. Keep quiet. For the body is on the verge of heavy congestion. [Pneumonia?]
-
(Q) Will you outline specific treatment? (A) These have been outlined so often, and how many have you done?
Do those given. The eliminations, the stipulation of stimulation to congested area, quietness, as little activity as may be had, for allowing the congestion to be absorbed and eliminated through the alimentary canal, or through the perspiration. To be sure, the activity as to produce stimulation to superficial circulation is helpful [sweat baths?]. Be mindful that these do not work against, but with, that applied in the lights.
-
We are through. [GD’s note: Dr. C. P. Eifertsen, D.C., had been treating EC almost daily for several days, for a heavy chest cold, while we were visiting and giving rdgs. in the Zentgraf home.]
-
[11/24/33 - EC gave rdgs. on the 23rd also - Following 454-6 at the Kahn home in N.Y.C., EC advised further for himself:] “It’s better.” [He referred to HLC’s suggestion for stimulating circulation.]
-
(Q) Would it be advisable for body to take sweats and massage today? (A) If not going out in the weather, yes.
-
(Q) Be better to take it here [at the Kahn home], or go to masseur? (A) Go for the massage, but not run around in the weather much afterwards.
-
(Q) Should the body be active or quiet tonight? (A) Quiet.
[GD’s note: Immediately after the above rdg. EC left for the Reilly Health Service to obtain the sweat bath, massage, etc. had lunch with Dr. Harold J. Reilly, then ret’d to the Kahn home in time for the afternoon rdg. Then he ret’d to Staten Island to the Zentgraf home, in the worst weather that I ever remember. Cold, icy, snow, etc. EC’s face was hurting him; head, throat, chest. Mr. Zentgraf met us at the ferry - EC, HLC and GD - and immediately after the evening meal EC went to bed. See 294-163 Reports, description by HLC of what took place that night, taken from pp. 36-37 of Hugh Lynn Cayce’s book entitled VENTURE INWARD, published by Harper & Row in 1964.]

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/24/33 EC’s psychic healing experience as described by his son who was present, taken from Hugh Lynn Cayce’s book published in 1964 by Harper & Row, entitled VENTURE INWARD:
A BOUNDLESS UNCONSCIOUS
The labored, heavy breathing of the man on the bed could be heard outside the room in the hall. The doctor who had been listening with stethoscope turned away and spoke: “This man has one lung completely closed. The other is in bad shape. He must be moved to the hospital immediately. Pneumonia may have set in already.”
Edgar Cayce was the man on the bed. It was I to whom the doctor had spoken. For days my father had suffered with a heavy cold. We were visiting with friends on Staten Island, New York. Day after day he had met people and given readings morning and afternoon. Finally he had gone to bed. Outside a heavy snow was melting.
The doctor went downstairs to call an ambulance. Dad motioned to me to come to the bedside. “What did the doctor say?” he croaked.
I touched his hand and head. They were hot and dry. I told him exactly what had been suggested.
“Shut the door,” he said. “Don’t let anyone in here until I wake up.”
I obeyed him without question.
In a matter of minutes his eyelids fluttered; his breathing became deep, regular, and heavy. He rattled like the crackling of thick underbrush in a dry forest.
Within five minutes great beads of sweat broke out on his forehead and face and began to run down his neck. As I watched and listened, the sheet which touched his chest became wet, and the breathing grew heavier and more labored.
At the end of fifteen minutes, perspiration was running off the bed onto the floor where it stood in a little glistening puddle. The breathing was clearing and was more even now.
Someone knocked at the door. I tried to explain without opening it.
In a little more than twenty minutes Edgar Cayce opened his eyes, stretched, smiled, pulled back the covers, and asked for his robe. The sheets, the blankets, the mattress, were soaking wet. His voice was clear; his head and hands were cool. The ambulance went away without him.
This is an example of the strange power of the subconscious to take suggestion and control automatically the internal functionings of the physical body.
R2. GD’s note: I think it was the next morning, 11/25/33, that EC told us of the dream he had the night before, or in the early morning hours, about tiny little green men who worked on his throat with chisels and hammers, singing while they worked.
R3. 11/28/33 EC obtained further advice in 294-164, following a rdg. in Washington, D.C., en route to Va. Beach.
