This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Zentgraf, 400 St. Paul”s Ave., Stapleton, Staten Island, N.Y., this 22nd day of November, 1933, in accordance with request made by self [452], through his mother, […], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:15 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, New York. (Body and enquiring mind, questions)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [452], and those developments of the soul-mind in its activity in the earth.

2. In giving counsel or advice, well that the innate and inmost self be aroused to activity; not as any resentments against anyone, but rather as to the purposefulness of the experience of the entity in the earth in the present.

3. As given, there must - or there would, from the developments from the soul forces of the entity - come those periods when there would be within self halting opinions, and questionings within self, and questionings of others and their purposes, aims, desires. While, as given, tolerance in all directions is a thing to be desired, much greater indeed is to know the love that is given by Him who gave himself as a sacrifice, as an example, as a mediator, as an influence in the experience of every soul. To know, then, the consciousness within self of the indwelling of the spirit of the love of the Master raiseth each soul to the knowledge to do that which is to the soul the necessary activity for THAT soul to develop. For, the gospel of Jesus Christ taketh man where man is, for the making aware is of the soul’s relation to the spirit that gives life in every man.

4. Hence in these meditations, in these activities, there may come that which will enable this body-soul, this body-mind, to become active in that field whereunto there will be not only peace and joy and happiness in this present experience, but there will be builded soul development in the entity’s activities itself.

5. Be willing, then, to give OUT. Not only of self’s own ideas, but of self’s own ideals; and DARE to live that as conscience directs thee, but be - most of all - sincere with self, with self’s own soul, with self’s own ideal. For, the ideal is set in Him, and must NOT be shaken.

6. Ready for questions.

7. (Q) Would […], …, Pa., and I be happy in married life? (A) If the ideals of each are made coordinating and cooperative in the activities of the life, yes. If they are left as conditions that make for those things over which there may be questionings and doubts and fears, hardly.

8. (Q) Which talent should I develop for my career? (A) As we find, as given, the ability to put PEOPLE - as it were - in their respective positions for the greater service to their fellow man and to God. For, the entity, the soul development, warrants the abilities of the entity in being such an one, and in acting in such a capacity, if the attributes and abilities are awakened or aroused in judging or classifying or setting aright those activities in fields pertaining to the teaching and instructing and developing of the activities towards the ministry, not only to groups but to masses and classes in many fields, in many climes.

9. (Q) How should I go about NOW to prepare and work toward this? (A) As there is determined in self as in what field of activity the effort would be given, then there is opened - or there may be made known - that necessary for the preparation of self to act in such capacity, in such field, in such relationships.

10. (Q) In what profession or trade can I best use this talent? (A) In that indicated, in setting to right or in placing or putting or directing the activities of others who minster, teach or preach or relate to groups in different portions of a land. [See 452-1.]

11. (Q) Is there an opening to work for Mr. Hastings of Philadelphia, and how can I best make that connection? (A) As we find (this is out of spiritual things), conditions have already been set in motion wherein a connection may be made possible. And while in the first it would apparently be temporary in its association, if the choice is made that the life’s efforts or endeavors are to be in the commercial field, it will later grow to be a connection where this may be carried on. This will NEVER be satisfactory to the entity in the years to come, but for the present it would be a VERY good development, very good way for the training - until self is found.

12. (Q) Would it be advisable for me to consider entering … & Co., when an opening occurs? [My father’s business firm?]

(A) In other associations or connections would be more satisfactory.

13. (Q) Is the Roman Catholic Church the true Church founded by Jesus Christ through the Apostles? (A) This would depend upon who was asking for such. As we would give here, the CHURCH as founded by Jesus Christ was, is, the Catholic Church; [catholic church] but NOT the ROMAN Catholic Church! This has rather been added, as have most of those - in their activities - that call or classify themselves as churches. For, the true church is within you, as the Master, as the Christ gave himself: “I to YOU am the bridegroom - I to YOU am the church. The kingdom is within YOU!” Hence that which has been coordinated into the bodies in any activity is a representation OF that which has gathered together for coordinating activity in whatever field; but are most man made.

14. (Q) Would it be of benefit to body to change the Catholic religion? (A) When there has been considered all the various conditions that may exist in the associations or relations, or when there has been satisfied in self that with all good conscience this would be done, and with consistency in that it would have itself be, then it would be very well. If it answers all to self.

15. (Q) Should the name be changed through Catholic baptism, if this is done? (A) Decidedly! For, it is - as has been given - John Mark.

16. (Q) How may the body-mind gain the most spiritually now? (A) By opening self to that which has been promised to every soul, that “I will be YOUR God.” Not the people, except as of the people that join and enjoin themselves in a service to that which may be directed by those who may be selected or chosen through those same offices that are given in the calling of all. Hence, in sincere prayer and meditation to be shown that which is the right way; and let the answer not be in self, but rather as He that would speak WITH thee.

17. (Q) Give prayers especially adapted to body-mind in the present. (A) The body has made prayer within self, in its body-mind. Rather would we enjoin to study that given in the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of St. John, as the Master speaks to His own. For, the body would make self one of those who would be a manifestation of that He has expressed there, in the love He holds for each and every soul that seeks to know His way - for those abiding in His love, for those seeking to know their own missions in life; not only in the spiritual-mental life, but in the practical things in life. For, as the soul enjoins self to the doings, in the associations with those the entity or body may meet from day to day, in following the fruits of the Spirit, these - as the entity knows - make for a growth. For, ONLY those who seek may know. For, as set forth there in those chapters, “If ye love me keep my commandments”, for these are not grievous to those that love His coming.

18. (Q) What constructive idea can the body-mind apply in the present? (A) This depends upon which field may be approached, whether the mental, material, or relating to the spiritual and practical life. Or, as we find, that idea or ideal which may come from that indicated: Assisting individuals in finding their place of service in the material world as related to their spiritual life, as related to their activities and abilities, and keeping self in accord with that He may give.

19. (Q) What is the aura of this body, and its meaning? (A) It is that of the high orange, which is the intellectual - but the seeker. This may be changed to the blues or to the greens. The high orange.

20. (Q) What should be the highest ideal in all his dealings? (A) Sincerity and consistency.

21. (Q) How can those associated with the body be of the most help to him? (A) In meeting every association, those things that bear the fruits of the spirit; being patient, being compassionate, and being loving, being in the ability or position that there is ever the readiness to assist when asked; but not impelling self upon that which must be found in self. For, each soul must find its Maker, as each soul must find its mate - and may not be told by outside influences; only that which is aidful in keeping in sincerity and in consistency.

R1. 1/16/34 See sister’s Ck. Life Rdg. 275-39 in re past relationships in Egypt, Ra-Ta period, with [452] and the rest of her family. This rdg. spoke of [452]‘s work in Egypt, also gave a description of his physical appearance at that time.

R3. 2/21/38 EC’s ltr. under l468-3 Reports mentions Mr. [452] having difficulty acknowledging reincarnation; that he gave up his training as a missionary and became an accountant.

R4. 1/27/39 Mr. [452]‘s ltr. to GD: “You wrote me almost a yr. ago, and at the end of your ltr. you hoped that the New Year would be the gateway to attaining my heart’s desire. Well, it has.

“It happened that Mrs. […] (the wife of the friend I play tennis with) thought that it would be a good idea if I took a course in a Dramatic School in N.Y. Just a general course of personality improvement. She thought that in that way I would see something new and that I might meet some interesting people. Oddly enough at that school I met a young girl who was also just taking a course in interpretative dancing just to get out and do something. Anyway we met. She lives way over in northern N.J., so I see her only about once a wk. She seems to be just the sort of girl I have been looking for. And she cares for me too. But I do now, as I have always done, pray that this whole matter be in God’s hands, because I do want a marriage that is made in heaven. Her name is […] and she is a very sweet, simple living, old fashioned girl.

“I met her in the last part of the year (1938), and on New Year’s Eve and Day I learned how much she cared for me.

“Now I hope the same for you, that this year, if not already, someone may come into your life.” Sincerely, [452]

R5. 2/24/39 See sister’s rdg. 457-5, Par. 14-A advising that if necessary precautions are taken there would be no affectation of blood condition inherited which [452] could pass on to his wife or children. [She had written, “[452] is thinking of getting married.”]

R6. 3/5/39 Sister [457]‘s letter:

“She is a fine girl and it would make me so happy if [452] would find love, home and peace. He needs it. He has only discovered what home means since the family is gone and he is all on his own. He has found that other people pretty well pursue their own affairs and do not give much thought or time to a single person who is alone and lonely. One doesn’t notice this as long as one has ones own family to come home to. Friends often give you more attention than your own relatives. Thanks again for all your help.”

R7. 7/30/39 His ltr. to GD: “I guess I was a little too over-enthusiastic about […] in my last ltr. She is a very fine, sweet girl and I am very fond of her, but she does not appear to feel the same way about me. Anyway, I do not see her so often now. Perhaps it is just as well. It will take me two more winters to finish my course in accounting at N.Y. Univ. I hope that will lead to a better job, and then I’ll be better in the position to support a wife.

“So for the present I am again in the position where I was when you and I had that long conversation together. Of course my experiences since then have taught me many things. One thing is, that I should not think so much of marriage. I believe that when the right time comes, the right girl will be there. After all, marriage is not the chief end of man. It is rather to serve God and man. Marriage is for companionship and to reproduce the race. But some of us will have to be satisfied with finding companionship among many people instead of one person. And that is not an unfortunate thing, because in that way one can love and reach more people. So we must leave that to God. In the meanwhile I will study hard to better myself financially, and I’ll try to live a life of service to others.”

R8. 8/26/44 Ltr. to GD: “I guess you will be surprised to hear that I am finally engaged to be married. About a yr. ago I met a very nice Christian girl at a party. She lives here in … A few wks. ago we became engaged and on Nov. 11th we expect to get married. The Lord has been very good to us. He provided us with an apt. without our doing anything about it, and that, at a time when it is very difficult to find one. The wedding will be a very simple affair… It will be in a church, [Baptist] where I did most of my courting. I never realized there are so many things to take care of when one gets married. It keeps me very busy. Nevertheless it is a most wonderful experience to be loved and to love. I hope you will also have that some day…
