This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of September, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [2968], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Calif.

1. GC: You will answer the questions regarding this body, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2968]; this we have had before.

3. From the very nature of the disturbance there should not be expected too quick or too sudden changes to be brought about in the body. For this, like faith, hope and understanding, is only RELATIVE to the whole process of body-developments.

4. But if there is kept the constant, - that is, consistent, - application of those things suggested, we should find peace and happiness for this body.

5. This has not hampered, or handicapped even, the reactions of the body. And because it is slow, don’t become impatient with self or with the administrations that are being made.

6. Ready for questions.

7. (Q) Should I begin taking treatments now - adjustments of some sort from a competent trained person - whatever you recommend? (A) As we find, not just yet. By the middle of this month these may be begun - if given at first only as a massage, NOT attempting to make specific corrections because they are found needed. But let these all come, as it were, at once, and these will be much better understood.

8. (Q) Should the massage be with any oils? (A) As has been outlined.

Do that for this body, and while it may be slow, we will find real help coming for the body.

9. (Q) If as you said I am well enough to go to school in February, does that mean I shall be entirely well? (A) This will depend entirely, of course, upon the reactions. The body should be sufficiently strong to go to school in February.

10. (Q) Is it possible that I will be completely normal? (A) Nothing is impossible. This depends upon the faith and the expectancy of the body. Not that doubts don’t arise, but more and more eliminate the doubts and use the body itself in administering good unto those not equal to the situations, and this may shorten the period considerable.

11. (Q) Any other advice? (A) Keep the faith in the self, keep the purpose in God, and do the right.

R1. 9/16/43 EC’s letter to [2968]: ”…I have yours of the sixth, with money order, and the request for an appointment for a life reading. I do hope and trust that this may prove just as helpful to you as so many hundreds of others tell us theirs have proven for them. I recall that we have had quite a number of people who possibly never understood their physical reading until they had had their life reading. Of course, that is built on the theory of reincarnation, and of Karma.

“I think you have the life reading data. If not, let me send it to you at once. This will possibly help you to understand just what might be expected in a life reading. Also it will help you to make out a few questions that you would doubtless like to have asked at that time. The first possible period for the reading will be the afternoon of February 6, 1944. Of course, we are giving up our rest period for this, but would like very much to try and be of help to you.

“Somehow, I surely feel that you are going to get real results. Don’t let your anxiety wane, and your faith in the Divine keep it bright. I know the best way to do it is to practice it on others, for the Living Christ is a very definite thing. If we will only use it, and not as something that is a long way off, or that happened hundreds and hundreds of years ago, for He is the same today and forever. He healeth all our diseases. Of course, distress of that nature is sin, but we can meet every bit of it in Him.

“Hoping the time will be satisfactory, and appreciating your letter more than I know how to tell you, I am, with every good wish…”

R2. 9/30/43 [2968]‘s letter to EC: ”…First, I want to thank you so very much for booking me for a Life Reading as soon as possible - even to extent of inconveniencing yourself. I do indeed appreciate it, and I know it will help me a great deal. There are, as you know, many things I have wondered about - why, mostly. And in a choice of a career it should be most helpful.

“I have wanted to tell you - in the last physical reading you said I could begin treatments. Through a mutual acquaintance we met Dr. Mary Miller [Miller, Mary, D.C.], who knows you well and has worked with you many times, she says. I have been going to her now and really feel that in cooperation with the Readings it will be most helpful. I have great confidence in Dr. Miller, both personally, and professionally

• and even more so, knowing her collaboration with you. Already I feel a flicker in my toe I have not felt since the surgery I had done. I am, needless to say, encouraged.

“Mr. Cayce, this is repetitious, but I must again thank you for your unfailing courtesy and consideration. I know you have helped me and will continue to do so. I am anticipating the Life Reading with eager expectation. Thank you again most sincerely,” [2968]

R3. 10/20/43 EC’s letter to [2968] ”…Thank you very much for yours of the 30th. I should have answered your letter a long time ago, but our mail has gradually gotten so heavy that we are literally thousands of letters behind with our mail. I am glad indeed to know that you are acquainted with Dr. Miller, and that she has taken an interest in your condition. I think she is very wonderful, and we have had some experiences that could not be surpassed I am very sure.

“Am looking forward with quite a good deal of interest to your life reading. I feel some way or other we must have been associated somewhere before. Just how or why I don’t know. Of course, it may be my own imagination, but I feel sure that you are going to carry on in ways that you have not dreamed were possible. Let us hear from you whenever you feel like writing. I am always pleased to hear from you and I do hope we may be the means of being of a real service.

R5. 4/5/44 [2968]‘s letter to EC: ”…I was much surprised and disturbed to learn that you had been ill. I am so glad to hear that you are much better and rested after what I know must have been a siege of relentless work.

“The appointment for August is excellent. I appreciate your getting it in as soon as that. I am, you know, eagerly anticipating what the Life Reading will give.

“I do indeed think we work you too hard. The simile of the goose who laid the golden egg is very apt. I want to urge that even if we must be disappointed who so eagerly await the readings, still it is preferred by us that you stay well, before anything.

“Allow me to congratulate you upon your recent birthday and to wish you many of them.

“For myself, I am well and stronger all the time. I am continuing with electrical treatments and know they are helping me.

“May I say I am most grateful to you, Mr. Cayce, for the very kind interest you have shown in me. May God be with you…”

R6. 7/18/44 Mother’s letter ”…Physically she hasn’t improved under treatments. Emotionally and temperamentally she is much worse and if somebody can’t do something for her I don’t know what’s to become of her.

“She wants what she wants and when she wants it and if crossed in any way she lets loose with her tongue and sometimes seems demon-possessed. And I being the closest to her and meeting all her needs and demands, get the brunt of most of it. I could even take that if it helped her any but she gets worse.

“Somehow I must have been in that past picture. I’ve loved that child more than life itself. I prayed her into the world that she would be a blessing to humanity. And yet this came.

“When she was injured, as I thought, I took her to a chiropractor. Later when diagnosed as infantile, the hospital authorities blamed me for her lack of recovery because I did so. Now when she gets angry I’m to blame for her condition because I neglected her. I’m sure there has been no intentional neglect. Everything I have done has been centered around her and her needs, physical and otherwise - one doctor after another.

“Now she is in Ashland, Oregon, where a Mrs. Jessel does some wonderful healing work. Being away at the time we arrived there I didn’t see her but inquiries led us to believe there was truth in it all and I left her there for treatments, which she wanted.

“Intellectually she is brilliant but unbalanced, especially emotionally. To make matters worse, she fell in love with a relative by marriage, a man old enough to be her father, with the soul of a poet (she says) but never sober. They had corresponded for a long time and both having handicaps possibly attracted one another. I resented his attentions to her in such states and for that she says she will never forgive me. I was really trying to protect her against what I was sure would only be heartaches and disappointment.

“Altogether she says she hates me.

“How do I figure in this picture and what can I do for her? Would it be asking too much to make an extra copy for me? I doubt if she would send me hers. That would be her business, not mine. God knows I’d like to help her become a normal human being again, free to live a normal happy life…”

R7. 8/2/44 [2968]‘s letter to EC: ”…I have moved to Ashland, Oregon and am sending my new address for the Life Reading which is due sometime this month, I believe. The address is … the back apartment fronting on … Street.

“I trust this will reach you in time for the reading…”

R8. 8/15/44 GD’s letter to [2968]: ”…It is with regret that I must tell you that we were not able to get your reading this morning.

“Mr. Cayce has been working under such a strain that he was finally forced to take an extended rest.

“I am very sorry that your appointment comes among those to be cancelled.

“Mr. Cayce will, as soon as possible, be glad to give you another appointment, if you wish it, though it may be some months before an opening can be found.

“Please let us know your wishes…”

B2. 9/6/43 Letter from [2968] to EC: ”…I am enclosing a money order for twenty ($20) dollars. Please may she booked as soon as possibly convenient for you for a Life Reading. This is my money I have saved for this purpose. I can think of nothing which would help me more.
