-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes - (right pretty rooster!) - we have the body here, [2969].
-
As we find, there are conditions here which are disturbing the better physical functioning of organs.
-
Some might call the condition karma, others would say it is the result of pure neglect; others, that there might be manifestation of divine influence; others, an accident - and the result of same.
-
As we find, in times back there was an injury to the cervical areas of the body. These, naturally, have formed lesions - not being corrected or adjusted; and hence have prevented the proper flow of circulation or of nerve impulse, and the ability of those portions of the sensory system, - thus impaired - from throwing off the used energies or drosses, or ash of energy from the system.
-
This condition has been existent for some time, and will require some patience, some persistence.
-
But as we find, if there are the PROPER adjustments made, osteopathically, there may be had response. And these adjustments should be made by one who is versed in the special activity, or treatment of eyes - or the sensory forces. These should be corrected gradually.
-
The first three or four adjustments, at least, should be made in New York, under the direction of those who are sympathetic to the suggestions through this channel. Then there may be the directing, by those, of one nearer and more convenient to the body, for further treatments.
-
After the lesions in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd cervical, the 2nd and 3rd dorsal, have been removed, - we would then have the electrical treatments by the one who has been suggested through this channel, - while not in sympathy with these suggestions, he may give those electrical treatments where the class or lense would be placed on the eye itself, and the vibration directed at same. We refer to the direct current to the eyeball itself, you see, that has gradually lost its ability for the proper reactions. This would revitalize. And we may be able not only to prevent this gradual failing of vision, but restore same at least forty percent.
-
This, then, we would do.
-
When these electrical treatments are started, take them about once a week; and about six treatments should be sufficient.
-
Afterwards, - that is, after completing the six electrical treatments from Erlanger, - apply the Violet Ray at home, about once a week, and about a minute and a half to two minutes. This would be applied of evening along the whole length of the spine; not too strong, but using only the bulb applicator; and the sponge applicator about the head and neck of the electrically driven vibrator, see? that is, the hand machine violet ray - the bulb applicator - would be used along the whole length of the spine, for a minute to a minute and a half in all. Then the sponge applicator of the electrically driven vibrator would be used about the head and neck for several minutes, to relax the body and to stimulate the necessary activity. These would not be begun, however, until after the completing of the eye electrical treatments - the six week period.
-
With these corrections, the other disturbances that are of a sympathetic nature to the assimilating system will also be corrected.
-
Do this.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What can be done for continual colds? (A) This will be changed better by diet. Not too much of sweets nor of starches. More of fruits and vegetables, and plenty of sea food - at least two or three times a week - but not other meats.
These conditions will be materially corrected with the adjustments as made for the lesions in cervical and dorsal areas.
Do that.
- We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/28/43 Mother’s letter: “So glad to get your letter and the rdg. I took the rdg. to N.Y. to the best chiropractor in America and [2969] has had two treatments from him. He had taken x-rays before of the spine and the diagnosis in the rdg. corresponded to the faults shown in the x-ray. Yes, I shall follow the suggestions as well as I can and am sure it will help. When your spirit doctor came to see [2969], she saw him while he examined her. She is a pretty good trance medium.”
R2. 6/3/43 Mother’s letter: “I have finished the treatments in N.Y., having five or more, to correct the spine, and now I shall try to get the electrical treatments here in …, Conn. The difficulty in gas may prevent me from getting them on time, but I am determined to carry out your diagnosis to the very best of my ability. So far there is no improvement in her eyes and I had hoped for just a little.
“I would like to have you give her a Life Rdg. I think that would help with the healing, too. She has been and is still in a very sad state, because of the man she was engaged to. Without any apparent cause, he threw her over. As a result, she has truly been quite ill. Perhaps you can give some solution to that. Will you please arrange for a Life Rdg. as quickly as possible. Things don’t seem to be improving with my daughter and I am filled with apprehension.”
R3. 7/17/43 Mother wrote: “I have finished all the treatments that you told me to give my daughter. There doesn’t seem to be any improvement in her eyesight yet. Do you know what I can do next? Her health generally is very low. Has a cold continuously. I will appreciate any suggestions from you, as I am very much concerned over her.”
R4. 10/25/43 Mother submitted questions for the Life Rdg.:
“What was [2969]‘s occupation in some of her previous incarnations? “Where shall she meet the man whom it is right for her to marry? “What is her karma? “Will she meet any close friends that she has known in previous lives? “Where should she set up practice? when she becomes a chiropractor?”
R5. 1/44 Miss [2969] herself wrote: “Dear Mr. Cayce: I understand that I have an appointment for a Life rdg. 2/15/44 A.M. Please let me know what time it is and I will make a point of being in my room at the Y.W.C.A. where I live.
“I enjoyed my Physical Rdg. of last April and am looking forward to the Life Rdg.” Most sincerely, [2969]
R6. 2/15/44 She obtained Life Rdg. 2969-2.
R7. 5/61 She and husband visited A.R.E.
R8. 7/5/61 She reported on both readings:
Dear Friends,
As requested during our visit with you several weeks ago, I have looked up the readings done for me and will try to answer what I think they may mean.
This was a physical reading, requested by mother. I have worn glasses for myopia since I was ten, nobody ever had eye trouble and mother was always very concerned about this.
The reading states that there was injury to the cervical spine some time ago. I have been treated since I was about 5 for this, by chiropractic manipulation. X-rays showed upper cervical distortion as the reading indicates. Following the advice to have electric treatments for the eyes, I went for one summer to a naturopath who used various lenses, heat and light for the eyes.
I can’t remember any distinct benefits from this, I still wear glasses and mother is resigned to it; and I still have adjustments.
Q-1 [Par. 16-A] As to what can be done for continual colds; the advice about diet follows our own thinking. Fruits, vegetables, little meat or starches. I do not eat much seafood, which makes me think I had better get some kelp tablets.
Since this reading I have developed bronchial asthma of a very severe type. Not due to any particular allergy, climatic condition, or any other definite cause. I even went to a psychiatrist who told me I was a very fortunate person to be so well balanced and content. It must have an emotional basis, but so far I have not succeeded in curing it; at the moment I am under the care of homeopath, as well as still having chiropractic treatments.
R9. 7/61 GD’s note: Apparently she did not follow the osteopathic treatments or the electrical treatments by Dr. Gustav Erlanger, as recommended in the reading, although she and her mother seemed to think she had done everything correctly as suggested.
R10. 1/27/72 See her reference to her health rdg. in Reports on 2969-2.

B1. 3/14/43 Mother […] wrote: “She is 17 now. When she was 8 she fell on the bath tub and struck her neck and ever since has had very poor eyesight. I have had her treated by 5 doctors but her eyes do not improve. This last year she has been ill with colds, but I believe that could be remedied by diet.” [Myopia all her life.]
B2. 3/29/43 “Her eyesight is very poor and, in spite of many treatments, has not improved in 8 yrs. I know you can cure it. Also she has a cold continually, never being free of one. Those are the two conditions that I wish you could cure. Don’t know of any other condition that needs fixing.”
