GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: In giving an interpretation of the conditions as we find here, many things are to be taken into consideration. For, all may appear sometime to have the interruptions in the physical well being.
-
In this body we find no exception. There are disturbing forces, but we find that - unless there develops a great deal more of temperature or inflammation - there need not necessarily be the resorting to operative measures.
-
These, then, are the conditions as we find with this body, [3054]:
-
In giving the sources of the disturbing forces, and as to what may be done about them, we find in the blood supply - with the retractions that are caused by the manner in which it reflexes to not only natural sources but the unusual abilities in the mental as well as spiritual outlook of the entity - there are certain indications - and at times contacts may be made in the associations here.
-
As we find, the basic disturbance is the alimentary canal. This has not produced any form of dissention, nor should it, in the minds that would minister to the better well being of the body.
-
In the lymph circulation, through alimentary canal, there has come accumulations in the pockets along portions of the jejunum. And this has at times produced a tendency for regurgitation, so that there is that full, uncomfortable feeling; with the formations of gas through the intestinal tract, as well as in the duodenum and the organs of assimilation.
-
These arose first by inflammation from cold, or sometime ago intestinal flu; and then something of a disturbance in the pancreas as related to the circulation of lymph through the area - because of the activities of these upon food particles. This was the beginning of the condition.
-
This, combined with a subluxation that exists in the 5th and 6th dorsal, tends to produce a slowing of impulse through the area. These have affected the deeper or central circulation, and these find reactions in a sympathetic system upon the activity of kidneys, and the slowing of the heart at times in its reaction.
-
These cause more anxiety, and a nervous headache may ensue.
-
As we find, in bringing the better conditions, - we would first begin taking internally a few drops of Glyco-Thymoline daily - in most of the water. However, because of the disturbance to the taste, don’t cut off the amount of water taken. Put about three drops of the Glyco-Thymoline in each glassful of water taken.
-
Each evening, for some five or six evenings, apply Glyco-Thymoline Packs over the area of the lower portion of the liver and across the abdominal area, and extend these down to the caecum on the right side. Use two to three thicknesses of cotton cloth or toweling well saturated in the Glyco-Thymoline. These we would keep on for about an hour. Cover the Packs with oilcloth or something of the kind to prevent soiling or wetting the bed linens.
-
Do this for five days.
-
THEN have - not before - first a good colonic irrigation, scientifically given, to cleanse the whole of the colon area.
-
Begin then and have about ten osteopathic adjustments (one every other day), specifically to relax the body; stimulating only in the area below the 6th dorsal, and this done more by the activity of those centers as related between the cerebrospinal system and the conjunction in the plexus with the sympathetic nerve system. Do relax the lymph centers, in chest, and especially in the areas along either side of the diaphragm area - this especially in the liver and in the spleen; these from the external, these lymph centers, see?
-
As to the diet, - until the alimentary canal has been purified, - we would not have too much of solid foods, and yet not so much liquid or juices as not to carry a stimulation. Use rather gruels of all kinds, - as the combinations of whole grain cereals, as oatmeal and all such, and both the dry and cooked cereals. Use citrus fruit juices (but at opposite times of the day from the cereals), also eggs and vegetable soups. Not too much meat in the soups, but let them be seasoned rather with butter.
-
And if the body will do these, we should find bettered conditions.
-
The osteopathic adjustments we would have by Waters.
-
The Packs may be given at home.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is there a tumor? (A) The lymph pockets are of the nature that they may be called tumors, yes - but with these applications, these should be made to drain themselves and thus cleanse the system of those tendencies for the accumulations, so that the system should be aided in adjusting these disturbances. The osteopathic adjustments will relieve those tendencies that have been produced upon the whole central nervous system, as well as the circulatory system, and relieve the tension on the heart, liver, lungs and kidneys.
Do that.
- We are through with this Reading.
Two copies to Self (one for osteopath, Dr. Lulu Irene Waters, Copy to Ass’n file 1707 Columbia Rd., Washington D.C., when you are ready for these treatments - Dr. Waters has had experience with Mr. Cayce’s readings.)
(If you would like to go over the Reading with someone of our membership in your vicinity who has had personal experience with Mr. Cayce’s work, we would refer you to Mr. and Mrs. Louis B. Poss, 212 Woodland Terrace, Jefferson Park, Alexandria, Va. They would be glad to discuss the Reading with you and help you get started with the treatment, or help you to understand anything that is not clear.
At your convenience we’d appreciate a history of your case to the time of obtaining the Reading.)
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. GD’s note: Many pauses and hesitations in this Rdg., especially at the beginning - seemed difficult to locate the body, then hard to get into the physical difficulty - seemed interruptions by entities from other side, etc.
R2. 7/20/43 [3054]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce
I shall now report on the treatments, which I just completed last night. It seems to me that I feel almost as well as when I started the treatments, I feel better underneath, if I can make my self understood, but I have just as much gas and the stomach is still distended, and I am weak of course. Before I took the treatments I was working and since I have been in bed most of the time.
The doctor, however, who gave me the adjustments said to tell you that I was better.
Well, I took the five packs as advised, really took six, because we were not sure that the first one was given right. Before they were finished, and they made me as sick as a fox, I had a very satisfactory bowel movement, one which made me not worry in spite of the fact that the high colonic which followed produced nothing but gas. The nurse who gave it to me was greatly disturbed, and so was Miss Waters. They both thought I have a stricture, or a pressure of some sort.
After I went to the nurse, (Miss Waters recommended her, I never saw her before) I went to Miss Waters. She gave me a complete examination, and read your letter. She said anyone could give the adjustments as they were simple. Right here I want to say that Miss Waters is a most marvelous person - she is one person who has real sympathy and understanding. It is easy to see why “The Forces” would pick her out and use her to help in your work. There was a time in my life when I would have thought that such sympathy as I found in her had something to do with me - that set me out in some way, but now I know that I have had the privilege of meeting a person of great and universal understanding.
I was so sick that my husband talked with her after the treatment, and by that time she had talked to the nurse, - she suggested X-Rays, that I use the packs every hour, that I take ten glasses of water and salt, and I don’t know what all. She was so disturbed about the failure of the colonic, (I couldn’t make her see that the movement I’d had covered that - I think it did). Miss Waters could not take me at night, and I have been going to a chiropractic doctor for some time, who understands me thoroughly, so I went to him for the treatments, which he gave as faithfully as he could. I did none of the things she suggested. He thinks that the diagnosis you gave is correct, however he has told me for some time that I have a large pancreatic cyst, full of water, which presses on things. He says he does not see how it will drain, but I think if that is it, that it has drained some. What I suffer from most, is the gas, and the fact that my stomach is so large.
You asked for a history of my present condition. Here it is. I have been sick most of my life, I mean never well, but I have a lot of vitality, and always “come back”. When I was young I had malaria for a long while, after which I was a fat youngster, then when I grew older I was thin, very thin. In 1922 I had my tonsils out and from then on took on a great deal of fat, which my doctor has always told me was not real flesh, but an accumulation in the lymph, which should have been thrown off, and would be some time. The treatments he gave me were toward that end, and to correct a kidney and ovarian condition. I have now lost about forty pounds.
Last Sept., my husband and I took a trip, to Boston, stopping at several cities on the way. Had a grand time. We flew home, I am afraid of “high places” but I apparently had no reaction to the flight, I just felt I was in a box, (they kept the curtains drawn) and hoped we’d get home. The night before we left I was awakened by a scream, which for some unknown reason scared me stiff. I tell you this, for I personally think it had some part of my illness. Then I got home I was tired, but I pitched right in to do some things that should have been done, but by the next night I was very ill, and went to bed and stayed there for I don’t know how long. I had my doctor, (after trying an MD, who didn’t know very much about me) and he said I had almost complete paralysis of the diaphragm, the solar plexus and he was baffled as to what had happened to me, and still can’t figure out. In some way, he agrees with me that I had some sort of “psychic shock”. Now your “writing”, speaks of regurgitation, I did all of that - I was deathly sick. Finally I got better, and went back to work, and dragged on till I wrote you. Never well, but able to navigate.
It is all very peculiar. Personally I think the diagnosis, you have given may be correct. Oh yes, I went to a diagnostician, and he wanted me operated on for some tumor, (my doctor says I have no tumor - except the ovarian condition which I’ve had for so long, and which he has under control).
Now, I should like a check-up, as soon as possible, and would like to ask the following questions:
- Can this stomach condition be cured?
- Do I have a pancreatic cyst?
- What did you mean by this sentence in my Reading, “In giving the sources of the disturbing forces, and as to what may be done about them, we find it in the blood supply…with the retractions that are caused by the manner in which it reflexes, to not only natural sources, but the unusual abilities in the mental as well as spiritual outlook of the entity…thee are certain indications…and at times contacts may be made in the association here.” [3054-1, Par. 5] What effect do these “abilities” have on this particular illness?
I have talked with Mrs. Poss. She is most charming and believes that if I follow the instructions I can get well. I believe so myself.
When I was first sick I thought I had ptomaine poisoning, and my doctor said it always seemed to him like some thing of the sort.
R3. 7/20/43 [3054]‘s letter:
Mr. Edgar Cacey Virginia Beach Virginia
My dear Mr. Cacey:
When I asked for a physical reading, I had already an appointment for a “Life Reading” for Aug. 24, 1943. I do hope that it had not been canceled, as I feel that such a Reading would aid me in understanding this particular illness from which I am now suffering.
The following are the questions I would ask.
- Did I live in the days of the American Revolution, and who was I?
- Should I stay in the work I am now in or do something different?
- Will I ever accomplish anything by “writing”?
- Did I know my husband in another life? Where and when?
- Did I know my Father? Explain the connection, in fact my whole family.
- Is my “fear of high places”, linked with my present illness?
- What is my greatest character defect?
- Am I correct in thinking I have any exceptional ability along the line of intuition, etc.
Yours truly, [3054]
R4. 7/22/43 Husband’s letter:
My wife has already written you giving a report of her condition, and I feel that I should add a word from my observation also. She seems to be better and stronger, but still is suffering from a great deal of gas, and her stomach is greatly distended. She has lost considerable weight, and does not look well.
Naturally I am very distressed over her illness and will appreciate anything that can be done to give her an immediate “check-up”. She seems to feel that the diagnosis given through you is correct, and it seems to me that it must be more nearly correct than the others.
R5. 7/29/43 [3054]‘s letter:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I am so pleased that you could give me a date for a check-up. I think I am a great deal better and seem to be gaining steadily, but I know a check-up is in order.
There is only one other thing I should like to ask, and that is whether there is something I could take to aid my digestion, or whether the trouble I have (gas and all) will clear up when the trouble disappears.
February 16, seems a long way off [for the Life Rdg.], but it will be all right. I know if you can get me in any sooner you will do so. I am a believer in the Plan of Things, and it may be that I should wait a bit for the Life Reading. Let us keep my husband’s at the date set.
You must be very busy, do you take care of yourself? You know you can’t do too much, for if you do, soon you can’t do as much. Your work is a wonderful blessing and I know there are many people who depend on you and realize its value.
Most sincerely, [3054]
I shall be at home, …, on Aug. 9th
