This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of August, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3054], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Time of Reading 4:15 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Virginia.

1. GC: You will answer the questions regarding this body as I ask them:

2. EC: As we find the body is on the improve. There are still those disturbances from a distended condition in colon, and those tendencies for the formations of gas in the upper portion of the alimentary canal.

3. We would keep those applications suggested rather consistently, even though with the improvements there is a general better activity of the body. This is even more reason that these be kept in regular order; that there may be established better coordination in body building throughout the body.

4. Do that.

6. (Q) Is there something I can take to aid my digestion? (A) After each meal, and especially the heavy meal of the day take a half teaspoonful of Milk of Bismuth and seven drops (using a medicine dropper) of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin stirred together in half a glass of water.

Each morning as this is begun for at least five days at a period, take a level teaspoonful of Eno Salts in a glass of water before any meal is taken; so that all of these poisons will be cleared out, by keeping down the tendency for opulency or swelling or gas. This will aid in keeping the channel clean and yet not prevent proper assimilation, and will give greater strength. Do these for the present and keep up those general suggestions indicted. We should bring better conditions for this body, [3054].

My dear Mr. Cayce:

Let me thank you for the “Check Reading” which came a few days ago. I shall follow as carefully as I can the suggestions made.

Only one of the questions that I asked was asked, and only one answered. I suppose the reason was that on my letter of July 20, where I reported on the results following the first reading I asked two questions, which were as follows:

1. Can this stomach condition be cured?
2. Do I have a pancreatic cyst?
3. What did you mean by this sentence in my Reading. “In giving the sources of the disturbing Forces, and as to what may be done about them, we find in the blood supply - with the retractions that are caused by the manner in which it reflexes, to not only natural sources, but the unusual abilities in the mental as well as spiritual outlook of the entity…there are certain indications…and at times contacts may be made in the association here.” What effect do these “abilities have on this particular illness?”

When you answered you asked if I had any more questions and I sent one other which was answered.

I suppose it is too late now to have them answered. I can by inference gather that I do not have a “cyst” or if I do it can be cured. And I have my own ideas as to the meaning of the 3rd question as I have a feeling that such things may have a bearing. It seems rather an unusual thing to put in a “physical reading”. I thought if I brought it to your attention again there might be something that could be done.

Again I want to thank you, and say that I am feeling better. I talk with Mrs. Poss quite often, but have not felt well enough to see her, yet. Have been off from work.

R3. 9/22/43 [3054]‘s letter:

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I though I should write you - I am doing pretty well. Am feeling better, but the puffed up condition is not gone, nor the gas, etc. I have been putting on the packs ever since the “check-up.” Today I have a feeling that I am a great deal better, but as I say the physical evidence is not there yet.

Do you think I should have another “check-up” and could I have it fairly soon?

I am going to try to go back to work on the First of October. I’ve now been out this time, since the first of July.

Mrs. Poss has gone back to work I believe. I do not talk to her as often as I used to for that reason. She was over to see me once, and we have tried to get the four of us together with no success as yet.

She told me that you were very busy and that your letters were piling up. I could help you with them if you could get some of them to me. I handled a correspondence for a rather prominent person for ten years and if I had the idea of how you wanted the letters written I could do it. I think you would want them simply written and with a friendliness which would be helpful of itself. Yes? I could do twenty-five or thirty, I think, and maybe keep doing some each week.

I’m not accurate on the typewriter as you can see, but even so it would be better than having them unanswered. Let me know if I can help you. I could type them up and return them to you for your signature.

R4. 6/29/43 EC’s letter:

Dear Mrs. [3054]:-

Thank you very much for yours of the 22nd. I am glad that you are feeling better. I believe if you will keep up the glyco thymoline packs, you will get rid of the gas, and every once in a while, of course, have the colonic irrigation that will get rid of most of it.

It isn’t possible to get in a check before the first of the year. Will that be too far off? You know we will do whatever we can.

Busy? - I wish we had you here, but it seems impractical to try to send letters out somewhere else to get them typed. I want to thank you though very, very much for your offer. We have two stenographers and hope to have another pretty soon. We are about two or three thousand letters behind right now. So, if your letter gets lost, don’t think hard of us.

R5. 10/14/43 [3054]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce

I hate to ask you to do this, knowing how busy you are, but since I am trusting entirely to you for treatment, I think

I should have a “check-reading,” just as soon as possible. Before November if you could run it in, because my condition has changed (for the better) but my trouble is mostly in the intestines now, and I can’t seem to find anything to help me as it should.

The stomach condition is better, but now it seems to be a question of THROWING OFF what is being stirred up, for the DISTENTION IS STILL THERE, although the gas is much better.

The question I would ask would be, “What shall I do for my intestinal condition,” and of course if any changes are indicated, etc. You would know how to check that.

I’ll send a check as soon as I know I can have a “check”. How cute that is. Ha. Ha.
