-
GC: You will give the physical conditions of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures, answering the questions as I ask them:
-
EC: - These conditions are not so good.
-
There are the accumulations in the lower portion of the duodenum, where it empties into the jejunum. And there are long pockets of tuberous natures, of lymph, where the lacteal ducts should be - these are bad.
-
Do cleanse the alimentary canal with colonics, else the breaking of these may cause high temperatures. Have a colonic every two or three days, until this acute condition is allayed, or until other measures have to be resorted to.
-
Keep the body quiet. If there are high temperatures, it will be necessary for operative measures - that will not be good for the body either.
-
Apply the Glyco-Thymoline Packs. Not too much heat, if any. These may be kept warm, or warm them before applying to the body. Dip or wring out large cloths in the Glyco-Thymoline, warm before a fire and then apply - this would be better than applying heat directly to the body. Use these at least two or three times a day until some of the bloating is alleviated. For this portion of the body, is almost as a drum.
-
The massage in the back, of course, will help - tending to relax and to cause peristaltic movements. This is from the lack of assimilation in the glandular forces, or in the lacteal ducts being active properly.
-
Do take the food values that are easily assimilated and strength-giving. Give Beef Juice as medicine, Blanc Mange and such preparations. Use a great deal of pop corn wafers or pop corn itself - just so there is not too much salt on same, and it is well masticated. These are the characters of things the body should eat. Yellow corn meal would be well, made into a mash or into cakes or bread. Masticate these well.
-
But do have the colonics, and rather often, until there is no indication of mucous in the colon.
-
These, we find, will help. If there is temperature, do other things - and there will be required operative measures - but be fearful of same.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 10/31/43 (Sunday) [3054]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, VA.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Thank you for getting in another “reading”, I surely needed it. In fact I was not really in any worse condition then, as far as the bloating was concerned as when I got the other one. Can’t understand why, I was considered so much better then. This was a rather severe upset, and I’m now feeling better again.
Think the two or three packs a day may reduce the swelling. Am seeing a gradual SLOW improvement, I think. “The gas is better.” Do you remember that old lady in “Death Takes A Holiday,” “The gas is bad today, sez she.”
Will report more later.
Check inclosed.
Yours sincerely,
R2. 11/3/43 EC’s letter to [3054]:
Mrs. [3054] …, Va.,
Dear Mrs. [3054],
Thanks for yours of the 31st, with enclosure. I have been mighty anxious about you ever since that reading. Keep up those packs, if there is any possible chance, for you can set up drainage, even though it may be a little bit hard on you. Maybe it won’t be so bad as to have to have the operation, but if you begin to show signs of temperature, and this runs pretty regularly, don’t put it off, do something about it.
Remember me to Mrs. Poss, Mr. [3178] and the rest of our friends, and I sure remember “Gas is bad today.” I have experienced the same thing myself, and those packs are about the only thing that has ever helped me.
Hoping everything will be fine, I am,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC/vc
R3. 12/7/43 [3054]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
It is about time that I reported on my condition. While I am so thin that I look like Gandhi’s sister, I seem to be getting along nicely. I feel better and at last begin to see some permanent reduction in the bloating of the abdomen.
There are several things I want to mention in this letter.
One is that on Oct. 13, I sent $1.95 for which I ordered some little booklets listed in your list of publications. Only part of the order was filled. You did not send.
The Essenes $.25 Reading, Arabian .25 Period Physical Studies Glandular Disturbances .10
I should like to have these as I pass around what I get which helps to familiarize folks with the work.
I am sorry that I cannot contribute to the fund to help further the work at this time, but as you know I have not worked since July, and the … treasury is not as robust as it could be, if I can later though it might be different.
I think the report of how the soldier’s are receiving the work is MOST interesting. After all they should have something that gives them a little hope.
Have you heard of the new play called “Assembly Call”, which was given to his father by a boy who has passed on. The father is supposed to be a well-known author, and the play will be produced on Broadway after the first of the year. Things of TRUTH are moving rapidly indeed.
You never did get up to … did you? Hope to see you some time. My husband [3178] is finding his LIFE READING very interesting.
Yours truly [3054]
R4. 1/6/44 [3054]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I recently read something which I hope will guide my thinking and speaking in 1944.
“A BORE IS someone who when asked how he is feeling, tells you.”
Nevertheless I think it is time I should report to you on my physical condition. It is greatly improved. The swelling is gradually going down and I am feeling much better. I feel sure that I shall make the grade.
The enclosed clippings are taken from the “Psychic Observer”. That paper always gives special space to “There is A River” as shown. The book is referred to again and again by author after author. It is interesting to note that it is included in the “psychic” literature, when it would seem to me that the philosophy of it is if anything more important.
The play I spoke of before was “ASSEMBLY CALL,” by a “Flyer’s Dad” it is printed in Hollywood by Murray and Gee Inc., and can be secured thru the Dale News, Lily Dale, NY at the cost of $1.00. It was written by the father of a boy who died in a crash on Aug. 26 1943. It came thru and was apparently taken down and not changed at all. The boy’s father, although a writer has never done any of that sort of thing and apparently knew nothing much about the subject in general.
It is written up in the Dec. 10 1943 Psychic Observer, and I quote “One of the letters of which the author is especially proud, and which has such meaning for him, came recently from STEWART EDWARD WHITE. Mr. White wrote, ‘I read the play twice and am enormously impressed. It is a wonderful piece of work…THE TRUTH IS YOU GOT IT AS DIRECT FROM THE INVISIBLES AS I EVER GOT ANYTHING FROM BETTY. It has all the earmarks of it. On almost every page I ran across some of the things that Betty has told us. THINGS NOT IN ANY OF HER BOOKS. So often she has told us of people who have been kept from their loved ones, from getting thru to them, or even approaching them, by too much intense grief. It is one of the things she has passed on to me to pass on to those bereaved who write to me… Properly cast and directed it’s going to make a great play.’
“I am requested by ‘A Flyer’s Dad’ to stress here that he has never been a reader or student of the Psychic science and that in particular he HAD NEVER READ A SINGLE ONE OF STEWART EDWARD WHITE’S SPIRITUAL WORKS PRIOR TO THE WRITING OF ‘ASSEMBLY CALL.’”
SEW himself, as you know is in the same boat, he says he merely “reports what he has seen and heard.”
The play is to be tried out in Washington, early in the year and then go on to Broadway. It will be interesting to see how it is received.
The movies are planning a number of what they call “fantasies”, dealing with this subject. Very interesting. When are you coming to … Have not talked to Mrs. Poss but we use Uncle Sam’s mail once in a while. She is working and I am not, she is therefore extra busy. A Happy New Year.
Most sincerely, [3054]
R5. 1/10/44 EC’s letter to Mrs. [3054]:
Mrs. [3054] …, Va.
Dear Mrs. [3054]:-
Thanks a lot for yours of the sixth. Yes, I think I can learn a great deal from what you say is the definition of a bore. I am very glad to hear from you and to know that you are really on the improve. You are one of the persons whom I think will profit a great deal by the information because something that does not happen immediately, you don’t fly off the handle. Most of us try to take a shortcut and there aren’t many short-cuts that we can take.
Thanks very much for the clippings. The Psychic Observer has been very nice to us and I appreciate it very much. We get this, but as you doubtless can judge, I never have time to read it and unless someone calls my attention to it, I seldom find anything in it to apply to my own experiences. I know this is very bad, but I appreciate your reminding me of some of the things there. I will certainly try to look it up. I have been planning so long to come to Mrs. Poss’ - maybe when the roses bloom again, I will get up that way. How is Mr. [3178]? What did he think of his reading? With every good wish to you both, I am,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
