This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by Mrs. […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., mother of the patient.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: As we find, there are improvements - yet outwardly there apparently is not a great deal.

3. We find that the mental attitude of the body has much to do with the condition, as well as those about the body.

4. If there is the attempt to prevent the body from having the general, normal activity, or if there is any fear or doubt created, there will not be the ability to give the full, complete use of hands and limbs proper, as may be if there will be the full coordination.

5. The massages and all those things suggested should be followed very closely.

6. The condition on the foot we would massage with just plain Castor Oil.

7. We would keep the applications in every way that have been suggested, consistently, with the expectation and with the hope and desire, and the knowing that these are going to improve.

8. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) Are all the treatments being properly carried out? (A) Most of these are physically being applied pretty well, but the attitudes should be not only in that way of merely doing the things suggested because they were suggested, but should be done with the expectation and with feeling, knowing that they will correct the condition.

Dear Miss [3071]:

I need your help in carrying out a research project in which I am engaged. I am examining the Edgar Cayce records in an attempt to determine common patterns in the forms of treatments recorded in certain diseases. I am trying to discover the practical value of these treatments in the cases for which the readings were given.

One of the diseases I am studying is epilepsy. I would appreciate a brief follow-up report from you on the results you got from your own personal reading. I would like to know

1. if you thought the description in your reading fitted your case, 2) for how long and 3) to what extent you followed the treatment and 4) what results were obtained. Please be frank. If you thought the reading was inaccurate or if after an honest and careful trial you noted no improvement I would like to know this just as much as if you had a complete cure. Most important of all, are you still suffering from convulsions in any form? Also, what has been the exact medical diagnosis of your condition by doctors?

You may be certain that your answer and your original reading and correspondence will be kept strictly confidential in my analysis of the material.

R2. 7/60 Notes on EPILEPSY cases from the Edgar Cayce records made by Walter N. Pahnke, M.D., July, 1960 at A.R.E., Virginia Beach, Virginia:

The following notes were taken on cases as read and are merely the opinion of the abstractor at the time he read the case plus the correspondence. The main value of these notes is that they give some indication of what the exact diagnosis in each case may or may not be.

Case [3071]. Given in 1943. Female, 15 years old. The case was classified in group 3. The history indicated that the patient had a cerebral hemorrhage at birth, leading to spastic paralysis of the right arm and leg. Therefore the chief diagnosis in this case would be cerebral palsy. After 9 months of treatment there was no apparent change, and no further follow-up.
