This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of September, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3077], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading At home, 4:10 to 4:25 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Ariz.

1. GC: You will answer the questions regarding this body, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [3077]; this we have had before.

3. There are improvements, even with the discomforts that are experienced by the body in the present.

4. The anxiety and the tensions created by the manner in which there has to be the preparations for the Baths to relieve the tension in the limbs and body, we find indicated.

5. While this will require a great deal of work on the part of the attendant, we find that these relaxations may be accomplished by the use of Epsom Salts Packs, at least every other day. Change these about every twenty to thirty minutes, for a period of an hour or hour and a half. Apply these over the hands and limbs, and over the areas where there has been any accumulation in the system from the lack of elimination.

6. The cobra venom has not been in sufficient quantity to be effective. Give it more often and at a regular period. This will relieve the tension.

7. For the conditions about the face and eyes, we would apply a poultice of scraped or grated carrots, raw; apply to the temple and neck area. This will relieve much of the tension in the eyes.

8. We would also apply the same character of poultice under the kidney area.

9. Also eat carrots often but not the same carrots.

10. Beets should also be taken and beet tops.

11. Alternate the Packs of grated carrots with Packs of grated beets.

12. Don’t fear to have too much juice. Don’t add water but save the juice as these are scraped, for this will be well also.

13. Keep the rest of those things suggested.

14. For the nausea, if there is less tension from travelling this should disappear to a great extent. But should this continue, have this compound prepared, adding these ingredients in the order named:

Lime water (commercial strength)…1 ounce, Cinnamon water (commercial strength)…1 ounce, 10% Solution Iodide of Potassium…10 drops, 10% Solution Bromide of Potassium…10 drops.

Shake the solution well before the dose is taken, which would be a teaspoonful in a half a glass of water not closer than two hours apart. This will be beneficial in preventing nausea, also in aiding the assimilation.

15. Do have enemas occasionally to evacuate and to cleanse the colon area.

16. Ready for questions.

17. (Q) What causes the stomach ache? (A) This is more a nervous reaction. This should be overcome, too, by the use of those things given.

18. (Q) Is removal of tooth necessary, which doctor thinks may be abscessed? (A) If this continues to give trouble remove tooth.

19. (Q) Please indicate a place that is as good or better than Arizona climate? (A) As we find for the body Arizona climate is really the better. The Florida east coast climate would be very good, or Mexico climate.

20. (Q) Is there anything which will help vision? (A) The applications are to aid the vision somewhat.

21. (Q) In what way have we failed to get much longed for results? (A) Do these things as indicated. You haven’t failed, but too much anxiety has been caused the body in getting the applications made. Too much zest over too much of it, but the body is better.

R1. 8/14/44 (Monday) Wife’s letter to EC:

My dear Mr. Cayce -

It’s been a long time since you heard from me. We had our first reading for Mr. [3077], July 7, 1943. Case #11,890-C-A, [3077-1]. Then a re-check, Sept. 13 - #12,007-C-A-1 [3077-2]. We now realize we didn’t wait long enough after the first treatment which was a 36 day treatment

• advising atomidine and peanut oil rubs - with 3 hot epsom salt baths. By the time we got the re-check improvement had started. However, at that time we noted an itch on his ankles which grew steadily worse - also itch on elbows - roughness of skin, on back, shoulders and huge scales of dandruff on scalp. By January he was wild with it and by March we were sent to the hospital for a kidney infection and greatly lowered blood count - only 2,000,000 red cells. Indeed, his life was despaired of. It was then that I remembered that you said the infection was in the organs of the pelvis! I had meant when I asked you this question, “Where was the original source of infection”, I meant 18 years ago when he had an osteo-myelitis operation with ensuing arthritis. The doctors from that time had never known where the infection started. On looking back I realize that you meant at the time of the reading last July. I’ve always felt you were right and that it is not in the kidneys. In July we went again to the hospital to try and find where the pus was and try and eliminate it. When we left there was still some pus but the under a kilogram [?] the kidneys were seen to be functioning normally and a culture taken of the urine showed no bugs. We had hoped to give penicillin since the sulfa thiasol hadn’t gotten rid of the pus, but with this sterile specimen proving negative they didn’t give the penicillin. I don’t believe the doctors really know exactly what it is. They have said a nephritis - I don’t think it is.

As a matter of fact, since January and really dating from the time we went to the hospital in March his arthritis has been getting steadily worse. He is very achey and his hands are so sore he can scarcely move.

I want to say this. Under your suggested treatment he was improving more than at any time before or since. Is it not possible to arrange a reading and then a re-check at regular intervals say every month or six weeks as you deem necessary until he is well? If so, please arrange this as quickly as possible as his eyes have not yet been operated on. The eye operation was scheduled last March but now both operations on the eye have been postponed with this aforementioned recent condition. How SOON may he be operated on? Will you please help us and let us arrange a schedule so we can rely on your help. I fully believe you have helped more than anything else. Is it safe to give him the atomidine as I did last year with the present condition. If so - let me know at once and I’ll start that treatment even before you give us a new reading. Should I order fresh atomidine? Enclose 10 dollars for the reading which I hope will be as soon as possible. His eyesight is at stake and I’m gravely worried.

Thank you very much for the report on your husband, and we are glad to know that he feels the readings were of some benefit to him. We are sorry that the following appointment is the very best we can do.

The enclosed notice will explain why there has been such a delay in advising you of the date of your new appointment.

The new appointment for your husband has been set for May 4, 1945, between 3:30 and 4:30 P.M., Eastern War Time.

We sincerely hope that Mr. Cayce’s health will permit him to give this reading on the above date.

About three weeks before the above appointment date, let us have the exact address at which you will be during the hour set for your reading, allowing for any difference in time. Without this information we cannot get your physical reading. (Be sure to set aside this hour as a quiet time for prayer and meditation, asking that “the very highest be the impelling influence through that one seeking to aid me now.”)

If you are on a rural route, give instructions for finding the house in which you will be staying during the hour set - just as you would direct someone to drive to your house by car. Do not be riding in an automobile or on a train, or located in a bus station. Someone else by the same name may be on that train or in that bus station.

The best results will be obtained if this period is observed in quietly praying or meditating by yourself or with interested members of your family or friends.

R3. 2/27/45 (Tuesday) Wife’s letter to GD:

My dear Miss Davis:

My heart is heavy laden to hear of the passing of Edgar Cayce. For some time past I’ve been wanting to write a letter concerning Mr. [3077]‘s condition which has been giving me increasing concern. Our first reading was for his arthritis and since then there has developed a pus infection in the region Mr. Cayce told me of, but which at the time, I thought he meant at the inception of his arthritis now nearly 19 years ago. This is a kidney condition, a partial nephritis which doubtless has effected his already effected eyes. He has not seen for nearly three years. On the eve of his eye operation last March we had to stop and try to build up his blood and that nephritis condition necessitating three hospital trips last year. And now once again there is a delay because of an inflammatory condition in his eye which if operated on now would only heighten the hazard of giving him any sight.

We came to Arizona from N.Y.C. for his arthritis never dreaming more and greater complications were to ensue. We thot we were on the way up and out.

For ten years, I’ve been an ardent follower of Dr. Emmet Fox, Church of The Healing Christ in N.Y.C., whose teachings are in line with those of Mr. Cayce. So easy to know, so difficult to practice for one so close to a loved one’s illness.

I explain this to you because I have checked the return of my money in full. Almost all of our meager savings gone and we haven’t even started the eyes - would that I might say keep it and give you more too. There has been no [?] power since 1938 so our income must meet our needs as well as our many and ever mounting extras. I try to fight my out-conscious fears - let go and let God - but so often I fall short of the mark, only our great and very real love for each other sustains us.

R4. 3/3/52 GD’s letter to [3077]‘s wife:

Dear Mrs. […]

Such a long period of time has elapsed since we have contacted you, and yet we are hopeful of receiving an up-to-date report on the Physical Reading given for your husband through Mr. Cayce.

We are now in the process of preparing all of the readings given by Mr. Cayce, for microfilming, and your husband’s reading will be among the first to be microfilmed.

You have supplied us with a very complete report on your husband’s case through Feb. 27th, 1945. Perhaps at this time you might have additional information that would have a bearing on the information given him in his reading. Such information will form the setting for his reading that will enhance its value for research as well as for practical purposes.

Your continued good thoughts and immediate cooperation shall indeed be appreciated.

My dear Miss Davis,

Edgar Cayce died before we got our third reading. Nothing was of any avail - and one thing worked against the other. The gold treatments taken in ‘39 affected his kidneys - so that with arthritis these doomed his eyes - X-mas ‘46 and ‘47 - he finally got streptococci - it did the job but the kidneys were gone - he died Nov. 30 ‘47, just two months after BOTH eyes were removed. He went into coma Thanksgiving day, uremic poisoning and two days later was gone.

Mr. Cayce said an eye operation would have to be part of this experience - I realize now he probably knew - and NOT to obtain sight either - I have often wished that the second reading had been a “Life” one - I just couldn’t believe anyone could be behind the eight ball for so long and in every respect and still lose his eyesight.

He was a darling - never complained - wonderful beyond all telling - never a dull moment.

Sorry not to be of more help to you - but did want to answer your letter.
