This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of June, 1932, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [310], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ala. (Physical, mental and material ques.)

1. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [310] - this we have had before.

2. In the general physical forces of the body, these we find in many respects are showing some changes for the better. While there are some exaggerated conditions, and some that are causing some distress in the present, these are from such unusual external influences that the system is adjusting itself to them, creating sufficient of those elements necessary to make for a better condition.

3. In those general debilitations that have existed, the nervous reactions and the eliminations, these show some improvements.

4. We would keep near to that which has been outlined in the physical forces for the body.

5. Ready for questions.

6. (Q) What causes intense pain in right side of abdomen at times? (A) This is the breaking up at times, or contraction of those portions in system where those of the scar tissue are reacting to the changing vibrations in the system. These, it will be found, will respond to a dry heat; or, preferably, apply hot salt packs, with a wet pack placed next to the body, in those portions where the distress arises. This is the contraction of the muscular forces that are acted upon by these changing conditions - see?

7. (Q) Does that mean put a hot salt pack over a wet cloth? (A) That’s just what we said!

8. (Q) Should the battery [Radio-Active Appliance] continue to be placed as formerly given? (A) Continue to be attached as given, for here it is changing the vibratory forces in the system in accordance with the corrections for the conditions that disturb under nerve pressure.

9. (Q) Is proper preparation in progress now for future work? (A) As we find, the preparations and associations and connections that are being made, retained and worked out, are in keeping with that which will bring about, with the changes, the positions that will be the most satisfactory for the body.

10. (Q) Should steps for securing work be immediate or more aggressive than formerly? (A) As just indicated, those of the proper associations, proper connections, are being made. The aggressiveness towards same, as we find, would best be in the latter portion of the present season, than just now - but rather as the year for the various associations and connections that are being maintained, or gained, are ready for the changes for the coming seasons.

11. (Q) Should the home at 510 Church Street be retained for another year? (A) As we find, this had best be retained for another period. There will be those associations and connections from time to time that will enable the body to meet those conditions that arise, or that surround same in the various connections. These should not be, or make for worriments - but rather be in the position to meet, through the proper conditions surrounding body, those things that will arise from time to time.

12. (Q) Is there any way at present that additional members of household might be secured for more permanent residence? (A) As is indicated, there are proper connections and associations being made that will enable the body to secure same. Let it be known in connections with those already associated, and in the manner that has kept the personnel of those in the home in the same manner, and we will find there will be those that will make this their home also.

13. (Q) In the L… - M… friendship, is best part being played by me? (A) In this association and connection, WE would give, the best part is being played, or the body is HANDLING the conditions, the situations, in the best manner.

14. (Q) Is proper attitude taken in regard to L…, and what he is thinking in regard to loss of his work with Highway Department? (A) This, as we find, brings in some very unusual connections as to the cause, and as to the activities that were taken by the Department. However, as we find, if the proper attitude and proper ACTIVITIES will be taken by the body, L…, and the associations and activities of those as connected with the body, there may be brought about that association and connection in those relationships in other directions that will make the more satisfactory connections.

15. (Q) Please suggest any helpful service which may be rendered? (A) This has been given here.

16. (Q) Any other advice or counsel for the body that will be helpful at this time? (A) There are many connections, associations and relations, that put the body, as it were, at its wits’ end, in respect just what the attitude should be. However, as that policy which has always been held is maintained in these associations, these connections, there is and will be given that proper activity that should be taken by the body from experience to experience.

R1. 6/29/32 We now have in the state as Sec. Burton L. Hoffman, who came to us from Western Ky., and he is located at Dothan, giving a part of time to the local work there. Conference gave to several of us the opportunity of knowing him so much better, even though he has been here more than a year. He certainly impresses me as being really fine, quite business as well as most interested in the whole work of the church in the state, as well as world-wide. He is insisting that I become permanent Rec. Sec for the state, working with him on a history of the work of the church in Ala. This is dearer to me than he can ever imagine, and still I am answering him by saying that I will be glad IF I can be of any service to him. This does not fit into the very indefinite program (should I call it THIS) which seems to be for me just at this time, and I did not go into details at all, but told him that business with me had to be a vital consideration when it might be possible. He seemed to understand more than I said, and then I felt surely he must be in touch with some who knew and understood me. This is the only GLIMPSE which I recognize as anything different for the future, and still I do try so hard to do as advised in the information from your dear folks and friends.

Speaking of the last reading, it came as expected (time), and I almost feared to open it, but knew that such would not very well be my action, when I have the utmost confidence and trust in all that they say from time to time. Just wish that I might talk over every word of it with both of you, for I say more and more intensely that I am purely overcome with them (all readings) and yet they are most comforting or STAYING or supporting for me. You know what I am trying to say, and yet I am not saying it. This has been read more and more, hoping that I may the better get the real meaning, and still as plain as it seems in many ways, I am human or weak or SOMETHING else to that extent that I just purely wish that I might know what it refers to or means several times. Of course, I am delighted that it suggests keeping the house, and yet I do not know any more than ANYTHING what rent terms I should suggest, and in this I am like many others, for this certainly is a most evident item by almost every one just at this season. Must say that I have felt all of the time that I could stay on better than make a move until I could be more definite about what was for me. In this I have tried to consider every phase of it, and the expense, etc. seemed to justify staying, to say nothing of the sentiment attached to … as home. Am hoping for the “proper connections and associations” to materialize in the acquiring of others in house, and hope that I may make just the right move in this.

Sometimes it seems that I may be moving so slowly in the proper preparation for that which is ahead of me, and still the reading is most satisfying in that I understand it to AGREE that I am TRYING in the proper direction, yet my WITS or lack of strength just will let me wonder just WHAT! No, this is not lack of faith, as much as I fear it is human weakness or impatience, and still I try not [to] feel that it must be either of these. In other words, there is that intense desire to know what the “Changes” of [310-5, Par. 9-A] may mean, and if it were best, I feel that the information would have given it to us.

Think if you had the listening ear toward Alabama when I read the last [310-5, Par. 16-A] even for the first time, you might have heard me think a most hearty “A-men”, and this in regard to the first sentence, especially.

Think the physical suggestions are most positive and, of course, they are absolutely correct, but this time it is so easy to see just where and what about each work of them. Previous to the reading I did not wish to be too positive in statements, and yet I know that I am so much better, and still when I forget to “pet [310]” the required amount, I feel the effects. As for the past weeks, I have certainly taken everything just amazingly easy, after the strain of Mr. [4363]‘s illness and death, and the very great effort put forth at Camp. The battery was here when I returned, and I am delighted with the extra length of the cord, but must say that I do have quite a time keeping the WIRES from coming in two just where it joins the plates. Just for the good of all concerned and those who may be getting batteries from time to time, I really think, all things considered, that the cords with the rubberized covering is most satisfactory - wears better, does not tangle, and seems to be stronger than the ones covered with the thread composition. Know that you do not take this a criticism, but in the helpful way that it is intended. Purely grateful for either and both of mine, and sure that you also see from the readings that I have every reason to feel that they have been invaluable to me, and this I certainly do.

R3. 8/24/33 She wrote that as of 8/15/33 she had been having a few pupils each morning, as she had been granted permission by the Town Council to operate a business school at her residence, when no objection from adjoining property owners had been received. [Shorthand, typing, bookkeeping]
