This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of February, 1944, in accordance with request made by the sister - Miss [3282], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:25 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.C.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.

3. There has been very poor consideration given of how to use the Appliance indicated for this body. While these treatments may appear non-effective, they produce the vibrations that are necessary not only for eliminating the possessions that are a part of the entity’s experience, but will build new life and energy in the impulses to the brain and to the body-forces, stimulating the lumbar and the 9th dorsal areas. These we should do. And prepare the Appliance exactly, not just partially, as the directions indicate. Do add each ingredient for the Charging Solution in the order indicated. The plates should be kept clean. The connections with the Appliance should be detached and the ends not allowed to touch (as they have done) and thus cause short-circuiting and soon eliminating the effectiveness of the electrical charges.

4. Do apply also the violet ray for this body, about five minutes at least three times each week. This may cause illness or nausea for the first one or two times. If it does, leave it off for a day or two or give it for a shorter period of time. But if these vibrations are used, there will be less opportunity for the attacks that cause such hallucinations.

5. If these are followed, we will bring help and enable this body to take care of itself.

8. (Q) Any improvement in the brain condition? (A) It’s the reflexes from the brain that need improvement, for it is not the brain itself deteriorating, but the medulla oblongata reflexes in the brain forces, in the central portion of the brain cells. When the violet ray is used, don’t hurry through it, not attempting to get on the center of the bones but at each segment let the bulb applicator vibrate.

9. (Q) Why does his mind seem to run down when he’s reclining? (A) The inability of the flow. For when he is up - It’s to be considered as to the difference between animal magnetism and man. He is supposed to stand upright as a man. When he’s down, there’s possession.

10. (Q) In what way is his condition karmic? From this life or another? (A) From what he has brought from other experiences that he meted to others.

11. (Q) What more can his sister, [3282] do to help him? (A) Just be persistent and consistent, and do have the applications or massages made by a good therapist.

R1. 3/2/44 Letter from Sister: “I have been aiming to write to you ever since I rec’d [3158]‘s check rdg., but somehow hadn’t gotten to it.

“In reply to the statement that poor consideration had been given of how to use the Appliance, I will say that I tried to follow the directions and was not conscious of letting the ends touch at any time, and I was sure that I added the ingredients in the order given. However, I know I made some mistakes that caused us some delay in getting started and sometimes, for one reason or another, we sometimes miss a tr., but taking all things in consideration - my ignorance of the Appliance and consequent lack of understanding where the directions were not clear, and my own physical weakness together with my heavy responsibilities both at home and at school - I feel that I have done about as well as I could, and I hope the treatments have benefitted him. He seems better in some ways and I trust he is steadily improving, but sometimes when he gets bad off I get discouraged and wonder if he is really improving as much as I think or not. We took the Chiropractic treatments as faithfully as we could tho we had to drive 20 odd miles after school most times to do it. However, it was practically impossible to go three times especially during the winter, so we have not been able to take the violet ray yet. Just as soon as school is out I plan to take him to a Nature Cure Health Resort up in N.J. where he can have the benefit of all the treatments recommended and also other benefits. I hate to have to wait so long to get the treatments but that seems to be the best we can do, and I hope the desired results will be obtained even tho delayed. We are still taking the electrical treatments. Maybe I should not have been, but I was rather disappointed in the answers to my questions. I wanted badly to know whether there was any noticeable improvement in his condition whether it was in the brain cells or the reflexes, of course, didn’t really matter. And as to the answer concerning the karmic reason for his trouble, I don’t doubt that his actions in the past are responsible for his trouble now. The thing I was hoping to learn was the nature of these past actions so that when he asks, as he so often does when he is suffering so, why is all this on him? I could have had some definite [?] answer to give him.

“Was glad to note in the last bulletin that you have recovered from your illness. I hope you many more years of happiness and usefulness.

“By the way, sometime ago I ordered some of your publications. You did not have the Essenes reading and told me to remind you to send that later…”

“Am enclosing 25 cents for paper - ‘Child Training’ - and the free pamphlet - ‘Life Readings’.”

R2. 4/8/44 EC’s letter to Miss [3282]: “Thanks very much for yours of April 2nd. In fact you dated it March 2nd, but I suppose you meant April.

“I can fully understand just how upset you were when you first read over the rdg. on [3158]. I believe though, if you will go over this again very carefully, you will find a great deal more in it, than is apparently on the surface. It will be, I am sure, a very, very marvelous experience for him, as well as for you, if you are able to give him the suggestions given in the rdg. I am sure what you have been giving him so far will contribute to the general help, that may be his by following the suggestions.

“As for the karmatic conditions: This, of course, as you understand, is one of those things that to many of us might be a great big question, but however, if an individual understands that the way to overcome karma is to put their whole life trust in the Christ, who took away the law, and put in its place the law of Grace, that is what every individual has to attain, and no matter what has been the disturbance that has caused us to be in turmoil, mentally or physically, we can turn to Him and find that peace and harmony as is needed to meet whatever may be the trouble in our experience.

“I do hope that you will be able to carry out your intentions about the treatments.

“We are mailing, under separate cover, the Child Training booklet, physical readings, life readings and Essenes. I hope you will find these worth while.

“I am still looking forward to meeting you in person. With every good wish…”

R3. 5/19/44 Card from sister to EC: “Until further notice, please address my bulletins and any other correspondence here ‘Youngborn’ Health Resort, Butler, N.J. [3158] is with me. While we haven’t been able to take the full treatment according to your LAST directions, I am glad to report that he is much improved. His mental attitude is much better and he is working harder to help himself, so we are encouraged to expect that he will soon be strong in mind & body.”

R4. 8/24/44 Letter from sister to EC: “I guess I should have written before now, but with so much on mind & hand I’ve neglected it. In regard to [3158]‘s progress will say that he took the osteopathic treatments & the Wet Cell also for the first period. Then when we had the ck. reading. I wrote you that we were so far from town we couldn’t go often enough to take the treatments suggested then, so we came to Youngsborn Sanatorium expecting to get them there and found that circumstances there were not what we had expected so didn’t get them there. In the meantime Dr. Carl Pierce [Spiritualist Healer?] of Mt. Vernon, N.Y. was helping us & he was gradually improving. Dr. Pierce, a Spiritualist, as you may know, has the cooperation, he says, of a band of Spirit doctors. Anyway, [3158] is much improved now, & I am very thankful to all who may have helped him in any way.

“As for the book that I was told to write in my Life Reading, I still have no lead to start.”
