This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of August, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [318], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Born December 3, 1925 [12/4/25 See 318-2], in Selma, Alabama. Time of Reading … St., 11:20 to 11:35 A. M. Eastern Daylight Savings Time. …, Ala.

1. GC: You will have before you the entity, [318], born December 3, 1925, in Selma, Alabama, who seeks a continuation of his Life Reading, with further information, advice and guidance as to his life, training and work. You will give the entity that needed for his best mental, spiritual and material welfare in regard to his preparation for a life of service. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here, and that interpretation which has been given respecting the entity now called [318].

3. In keeping with what has already been indicated, the developments thus far in this experience have been very well. A great deal of patience and of consistent effort on the part of those about the entity has been manifested.

4. Now there comes that period in the entity’s experience when there is the beginning of those expressions not only for the training and development in this material sojourn, but the innate expressions of those influences which - as we have given - are apparent in this life-experience of the entity.

5. Yet the requirements are that there be the surrounding efforts, and the consistent application of the entity itself, in those fields of service or activity as we have indicated.

6. Analyzing the expressions or manifested efforts of the entity through the varied experiences in the earth, - in the fields of service as a minister or teacher, as we find, the efforts of the entity would find the greater opportunities for expression or outlet of those abilities.

7. Thus the necessity for the carrying on with that schooling or training in a university or college, in those directions that would carry the efforts of the entity into those fields of activity.

8. That there are those inclinations in the mathematical and the reasoning abilities indicates that the entity should have those opportunities for a self-expression through those channels as a teacher or a minister.

9. The innate and manifested activities have been well towards those directions.

10. In such schools as William and Mary, Washington and Lee, Alabama or such, there would be the better outlets.

11. As to how the entity would carry on, under the material circumstance, - this may be accomplished through the efforts of the entity itself in its cooperation with the programs of either of such institutions; as combined with the efforts on the part of those who are or may be interested in the developing of this entity’s abilities in these directions.

12. The entity may work itself through either of such institutions, if there is put forward the effort by the entity and those interested in same, in the entity’s accomplishing this to COMPLETE the necessary mental-material preparations for the activities in this material plane.

13. To be sure, much might be given as to activities of the entity in material plane under the varied experiences; but these add only the mystical or mysticism, with already an active mental ability in these directions. And these will come as a part of the entity’s experience, as time, persistence and patience work with the purposes of the entity.

14. These, then, are the channels, the sources, the ways and manners for the preparation of this entity, [318] in the present.

16. (Q) Please explain more fully the indication in the Life Reading that my abilities lie more in mathematics, and in making money. How may I make practical application of this ability for the best results for all concerned? (A) As we have just indicated, the mathematical abilities do not necessarily mean that he is to be a mathematician; but the mathematical MIND towards the application of self a minister and teacher indicates the abilities that bring about money making, money building - if it is applied in a spiritual way and manner.

17. (Q) In what other vocation could I be successful besides as a minister or teacher? (A) This we would not indicate from here; for it would mean only a shifting from one thing to another - in the whole life experience.

18. (Q) What studies should I take to prepare me for this work? (A) To be sure, history - and the religious training, as well as the pedagogy as a part of the whole training.

19. (Q) Any other advice and counsel? (A) Keep to the spiritual side, and keep to the purposes determined in self.

R3. 9/1/41 Father [779]‘s ltr.: “[318] did a strange thing sometime ago, in writing you to give him a Ck. Physical and a Ck. Life rdg. without asking me anything about it. I did not know anything about it until one morning at table he said this was the day for his reading…

“His Life Rdg. seems to give that of teacher and minister, as before. I do hope he will keep this in mind and work to that end. We shall do our best to encourage him to that end. I have said to him that now he must get busy and send in something for these rdgs.”
