This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of September, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [3180], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Born September 11, 1923, in Kuling, China. Time of Reading 3:40 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Ill.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

3. Yes, we are given here the records of that entity now known as [3180].

4. In giving the interpretation of the records as we find them, these are apparent in the personality of the entity:

5. One who is at times very much interested in the mystery side of a Christian experience. One, then, that normally is very anxious about the associations and enumerations of those things about the entity.

6. These bring into the experience that in which the entity must be very careful respecting its own physical health; else we may find less and less ability of the body to function perfectly to complete the possibilities and anxieties of the entity to accomplish in the present sojourn.

7. One that finds in its activities that it deals with groups better than individuals. Not that the entity hasn’t individual or personal friends, but even with the better friend the entity acts better in associations with others.

8. One that may make a contribution in its own efforts as an organizer of young people in any special, definite purpose. For the entity, through such attempts, will yield a great influence for good in this material plane. And this doesn’t mean merely scratching someone’s back to have their ideas embraced in your undertakings either.

9. The entity will find its interest in music will wane as it applies more in those things that are of the natures indicated as to the formation of groups of organizations for definite material activities, in not a too-easy world for the entity.

10. One that may find its efforts, if these are compiled from the spiritual rather than the purely methodical or imaginative forces, altogether, as a means for material as well as a social order or nature.

11. Man by his nature is inclined to the mysterious. Not as of the uncouth or those with too great a question mark, but those having a broader view of material, mental and spiritual successes in the individual.

12. One that a great many times, in dealing with individuals as well as with things and people, will have its own way.

13. Well, then, that the entity apply these. For, inasmuch as ye may forgive or forget past hurts or the like, the greater may be the ability to fulfill the purposes for which the entity came into the earth at this particular period. Thus the reason for and the helpfulness that may be obtained from such consciousness that such information should inspire, as to cause activities that will never be other than creative in their influence in the associations with others.

14. As to the material experiences, - we find many have been the activities of the entity through those cycles in development in Mercury, Mars; Jupiter, Mars; Uranus and Mars. These come at various periods to be, as it were, the karmic conditions that will pay dearly - as spoken by some of old, with indeed the ring in the entity’s nostril - if considered only from the angle purely of cause and effect.

15. There will be hardships, yes. Ye cannot take them alone. As indicated, there is spirit of, a conception of infinity. Thus the entity is drawn to that which is of a benevolent, spiritual nature. The entity should never lose sight of these in its choosing those directions or associations as may be had in making applicable in the experience those tenets and truths as may be gathered there.

16. The activities with Uranus bring periods of depression to the mental self - as has been experienced in the periods very, very close to the present.

17. The activities in the combination of the solar influence as well as the astrological influence make the entity mighty in its manner of speech, or in its control of others by the kind of look, the kind of expression the entity may give to others.

18. Hence the entity may ever be a contributing factor to the welfare or its own environs or surroundings.

19. As we find here (and which is seldom given through these channels), this entity is well fitted for a field of service as one bordering close to that of being a plain clothes man - as this may inspire in the experience of this entity.

20. As to sojourns in the earth, - not all may be given, but sufficient of those affecting the entity in this crucial period that it may have its part in the correction not only in self but in various groups, of those “little things” that hinder oft.

21. Before this the entity was in the land of its present sojourn where the entity found its abilities to first find happiness in the usefulness of individual security; though this may be accomplished from the mental and spiritual concepts.

22. One, then, to whom many will come for counsel. Do not let self be projected into same to too great an extent.

23. Through that period the entity depicted for its associates life in other lands.

24. Thus the abilities also to manipulate pen or pencil or brush to illustrate the meditations as well as the applications of the material self in those fields of endeavor. These bring the entity in closer relationship to the study of the Word itself.

25. Then known as Hester Prymme. It may be said that the entity gained in spiritual and mental interpretations.

26. Thus the entity brought in, with itself, the abilities to move throngs, to depend upon throngs.

27. This would give the entity abilities upon the stage, more than merely the stage as considered as things of the present - in home or preparations. These may be brought to maturity in such manners as to bring also economic security.

28. The name, that applied to the people about the entity, became sort of a watch-word for certain characters of activities.

29. The entity might easily embrace the application of self to greater privileges of its own sex.

30. Before that the entity was in the promised land, in those throngs that followed closely after the Master, during those first two years especially of His popularity, through those periods in the choosing of the disciples, the periods when there were the teachings such as the sermon on the mount and those related subjects given by those closely associated with the families of the entity.

31. Thus we find the entity saving many of those that were persecuted; eventually leading to martyrdom because of what might be called indiscretion in regard to those with whom the entity discussed such material or spiritual application of truth in a material world.

32. The name then was Ukle.

33. As to the activities applied from that in the present, we will find that the home life - in the next cycle of development - will be established for the activities of those that are hindered in body or mind; as an individual activity to bring knowledge or power and the application of same in all the activities in the earth.

34. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, when there were those preparations for activity through the Temple Service; when the entity made those overtures that allowed its activities to bring about the better home influences in the experiences of many, where the entity unified many factors - as it has done in the present, being a sort of clearing house for many another’s trouble.

35. For the entity in the present finds many of its own friends, of both sexes, bringing confidences to the entity that are not displayed to or by others.

36. The name then was She-El-Or.

37. Before that the entity was in the Atlantean land. There the entity was among those of the children of the Law of One, being among those to whom was entrusted the preparations of Temple through which there was at each period the listening or the warning received from other sources than materiality.

38. The entity rose to the capacity of a priestess and - still, every whit the woman, with the emotions throughout of same; thus bringing to its associates many children through that experience.

39. The abilities to aid in classifying, to aid in counseling for vocational activities, will be a part of the entity’s experience in the present.

40. As to the abilities in the present, that to which it may attain and how:

41. The home building, as indicated, is the first. Yet, it may be practical for the entity to have something of a career in its own right or name. But keep the spiritual imports that are held materially in the present.

42. Cultivate those forces and not let them become as such commonplace things as to be passed over too easily.

43. In the activities that may be required, be mindful of those influences indicated in regard to the health. Do take care of the hands, for they are needed in the execution of much that may be carried on by the entity.

44. Ye know the faith. Keep it; not merely the faith in self but ever in the higher forces, and ye will be called blessed.

46. (Q) What are the weak and strong points of my character? (A) As indicated, in the varied experiences in the earth?

47. (Q) In what field may I best make a real contribution to society? Are my aptitudes suited for work in the field of anthropology? (A) This would be very well, provided there is not the unlearning of much ye have gained as to the spiritual part in such a study.

48. (Q) What branch of anthropology - physical anthropology, ethnology, social anthropology, linguistics, or archaeology? (A) Linguistics and archaeology or the abilities - as indicated - to invite and obtain confidences. Don’t abuse them but use them to the happiness of the individual so giving and ever to the glory of the Giver of all good and perfect gifts.

49. (Q) Is this the field in which I can make a real contribution to society? (A) Make a real contribution, as well as in the home.

50. (Q) Have I ability as a writer? (A) Ye have about two good stories, and if you write those you won’t have many left for yourself.

51. (Q) Enough to make a profession of it? (A) Have enough to make a lot of money out of it, not a profession.

52. (Q) Is the University of Chicago the best school at which to get my training? (A) It is very good.

53. (Q) How may I most quickly repay my college debts? (A) Writing a story.

54. (Q) Would marriage to the boy with whom I am now going be advisable? (A) Better ask the boy - not here! You don’t agree in all things, but you would have to before you begin. Better have the reading on him!

55. (Q) Have I met the man I should marry? (A) You have met several you CAN marry!

56. (Q) Any other advice for the entity? (A) We would only reiterate: Keep the faith, and the feet on the ground.

R1. 11/26/44 Mother [2946]‘s letter:

[3180] takes the first of her comprehensives for her Master’s exam tomorrow. She is carrying too much work but then she always has herself well organized and will probably come through. If you remember her reading at all, you may recall that Mr. Cayce told her she would be dealing with young people. She couldn’t imagine how because she is sure she is going into anthropology. Well, recently she was asked by her department to go around to high schools and talk to the kids on aspects of race, its rise, the problems of physical anthropology, etc. She already talked to thousands of kids and loves it. Maybe that’s a start.

R2. 1/4/47 Mother [2946]‘s letter:

[3180] had to interrupt her vacation to go to the national anthropology meeting in Chicago but she came back for New Year’s Eve to educate the rest of us. She is teaching anthropology at the University of Wisconsin this year, taking Russian, and hunting a medical school for next fall. Also she is flirting with the idea of matrimony in June but I’m not going to elaborate until she actually says the word - except to say the man is a sweet guy and we nudge her along.

R3. 3/25/50 Mother [2946]‘s letter to Mrs. [4038]: “Our daughter and her husband are both in medical school and I have often wished they could take a look at some of the [Edgar Cayce] medical files down there [at A.R.E.].”

• he told me things I already knew. His advice was common sense.

7. Do you think that your life could have been made better by following the advice more closely? Yes - the advice was good but applicable to anyone.

8. If Edgar Cayce were alive would you refer people to him for help? Undecided - for certain problems

9. Did any of his predictions manifest themselves? (Granted that you followed his advice.) He made few definite predictions. Much of my Reading was diffuse double talk that any acute observer could have reproduced. There was almost nothing definite in it. However, I saw many phenomenon in his work that was definitely psychic - I read some of his volumes - they were - to me - often disappointingly vague. He was very interesting and I wish I could have known him better. Good luck on your project.

1. In your youth were you known to be erratic in your behavior? Uncertain - no more.

2. Did your ability to make money show itself? Yes - but moderately.

3. “The psychological, the analytical, or that activity of the brain forces are ever in the forefront of the entity’s activities. Agree.

4. I dislike to be alone too long. True - who doesn’t.

5. Cayce said that you give all self to concentration. Don’t know.

6. Did you have any inclination towards being a doctor before the reading? Yes, he knew this; I believe at the time.
