GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have had this body before. As we find, there are improvements but there is the lack of consistency in the use of the Appliance that there has been indicated for the body.
-
The osteopathic adjustments have been very well but there should be more consistence in the preparing of the Appliance for its attachment in its proper relation of one area to the other. Keep the attachment plates very clean, keeping the Appliance charged properly. Thus the osteopathic adjustments will make for better responses and there will be a great deal of strengthening to the resistances that will be builded in the body.
-
Also be mindful as to the diet and the activity. There should be as much activity in the open as practical for the body. Not that there should be activities in the cold or that would cause too great a strain on the body, but keep in the open, in the sunshine as much as practical.
-
Thus we will keep the improvement and bring about the helpfulness that may be given the body through these applications.
-
The osteopathic treatments should be continued, especially as the adjustments are made in accord with the Appliance treatments as here indicated, so that there is the relaxing and stimulation for the ganglia controlling the locomotories. These treatments should be given at least once a week, but the Appliance should be given daily. Do give a massage daily, following the period of using the Appliance.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are there any special foods which would be beneficial? (A) Those carrying the larger quantities of Vitamin B. Whole grain cereals and a great deal of citrus fruits, but don’t take these at the same meal - rather alternate these. Not too much of fats. Plenty of fish - preferably sea foods. Fowl and lamb should be taken. None of the foods should be fried.
Do these and we will make better conditions.

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I received a copy of your reading which you made on April 9 for my brother [3181].
I know you are correct in saying we had not been consistent in following through with treatments. The schedule and type of treatment which you have indicated almost requires having the patient in a sanitarium. Such a sanitarium as we should desire is much beyond our financial possibilities and also it’s difficult to find one that would cooperate on your readings.
My father is 76 and his sister who is his housekeeper is 60 years old. These two are taking care of my brother on a two acre place near …, Mich. which is just a crossroad and there is no osteopath there. Also the diet is difficult because the patient will not cooperate. He is a very heavy smoker and a big eater and chooses meat and bread and rejects fruits and vegetables. The only way it is possible for these two old people to carry on is to go along with the patient rather than to dictate too much. During the winter months I arranged to have him here in Chicago near Dr. Sampson who treated him twice a week but our wet cell suffered some breakage so we were out of it for a time even after it arrived which was late. All in all I am a bit discouraged and scarcely know how to plan. Do you know of a small sanitarium any where that would follow your reading consistently where we might take my brother. The one great advantage in his present location is of course that he can be out of doors and has a garden if he can hold himself to the job of tending it.
I appreciate your interest and help and certainly hope we can arrive at a more satisfactory arrangement for treatments.
Sincerely yours, […]
R2. 5/1/44 EC’s letter to Sister:
Dear Mrs. […]
Have yours of the 28th and note what you have to say about the reading for your brother, let’s hope the sincerity of the attempted treatments by the folks at home will make up for a lot more scientific means, recall the story of the little boy in “The Harvester” and how he treated the little lame girl. Such will be the case here. Please, then, encourage them and don’t let them become discouraged, for his sake as well as theirs.
Wish could suggest a place for your brother but do not, do try to encourage him to follow through, go give the work a fair try, for six months or a year, and believe he will see help coming. Yes, being there this spring and summer may be the very thing for him, let’s try looking at it like that, at least. If it will all become a labor of love am sure it will be good for each one of them. Do let me hear now and then, and if we can help in any way, know am glad to try.
With every good wish,
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce -
My husband is changing jobs after 20 years at the … of Chicago - we are moving to Washington where our address will be 4856 Sedgwick St., N.W., Washington, D.C.
I shall be forced to leave my brother [3181] my father and my aunt at …, Mich., permanently.
I am sorry to say we have found no osteopath near … who was at all interested in our venture but rather have discouraged it. Added to that our wet cell apparatus has needed repairs twice and again is broken so I have decided to give up the low current treatment for the time being until some way opens which is more possible. My father has trouble getting the right ingredients together and is not too dependable to leave in charge of such a program. Perhaps later a Sanitarium can be found which would continue with the treatments. I think this is perhaps one of the best summers for my brother for many years. He is able to be out of doors a great deal but is of course too lonely and too isolated for his own good.
I appreciate very greatly your interest in us and your help. I still hope and pray for my brother’s recovery.
Sincerely, […]
