This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of August, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - [3186], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [2946].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. (Notes read to and transcribed by Jeanette Fitch.)]
Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Wisconsin.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3186].
-
In giving the interpretations of the conditions as we find here with this body, many things are to be taken into consideration. These as we find arise from a glandular disturbance; yet from a purely pathological condition it doesn’t appear to be glandular - more organic, from the reactions.
-
But this is evidenced by the inability for the body forces to take from that assimilated that which aids in supplying that fibrin, that rami, in nerve energies as to give complete rebuilding in the nerve forces, especially as related to the locomotories.
-
That these in some ways are tied up with happenings relative to the organs of the pelvis here is also indicated.
-
The only variation here, in most of those suggestions we have previously given for this character of condition, would be in the necessary forms or strengths of those elements to be used in constituting that reaction in the glandular and the assimilating forces of the body, that will enable that ability already in the glandular force to supply the elements necessary for revivification of those portions of the system deficient in the present.
-
To be sure, these conditions will gradually grow more and more hard to deal with unless measures are now taken for the changes.
-
As we find, the rest of the body (and mind) is good. That there are fears would be natural to a body even in any state of mental reaction. Here the mental reaction is to be helpful. For, this body trusts in the spiritual forces; and it is indeed true that the spirit or purpose doth make alive - even in the physical reactions of the body.
-
We would begin by preparing first, for this body, a Wet Cell Appliance; carrying in the beginning, alternately, Chloride of Gold and Spirits of Camphor; though using separate containers for these solutions.
-
The Appliance would be attached for thirty minutes each day, one day carrying the Gold (in the proportions of one grain of Chloride of Gold Sodium to one ounce of distilled water - though use at least three ounces); the next day carrying Spirits of Camphor commercial strength.
-
Each day the large plate, through which the Solution passes vibratorially to the body would be attached at the lacteal duct and umbilicus plexus, which - on this body - will be three fingers (the body’s fingers, not somebody else’s fingers) from the navel center to the right and two fingers up from that point.
-
When using the Gold Solution, attach the small copper plate at the lumbar axis. When using the Camphor Solution, attach the small plate at the 9th dorsal. Alternate these, you see; one day using the Gold Solution, the next day the Camphor Solution.
-
The strength of this Appliance, for this body, should be, - to the gallon and a half of distilled water, these ingredients added in the order named:
Copper Sulphate…2 lbs., Sulfuric Acid, C.P…1 3/4 ounces, Zinc…5 drams. No Charcoal in this particular Appliance.
- Daily, after the use of the Appliance, also give the body a massage with oils; using these ingredients put together in the order named:
Nujol or Petroleum Oil [mineral oil]…4 ounces, Olive Oil…1 ounce, Peanut Oil…2 ounces, Lanolin…1 teaspoonful.
-
Shake these together, then pour a small quantity in a saucer, in one which one may dip the fingers and massage. Do this daily, massage not merely the areas down to the end of the spine but along the sciatic nerves, even to the heel. It is not necessary to take long periods of time but thoroughly massage this; not just on the spine but rather on either side of the spine following the nerves of the sympathetic system as they control those reflexes with the sensory system.
-
In the diet, - do add plenty of raw foods, including such as watercress, radishes and radish tops (these raw but very fresh), beets (these cooked, however), carrots, celery and lettuce. These especially, some one or the other of these taken each day. Not too much but some of these should be taken, as they carry the salts and elements that are extra good in these particular disturbances, with these Solutions being taken vibratorially for the body.
-
Beware of any hog meat of any kind.
-
Fish, fowl and lamb especially should be the principal meats; these not in large quantities, but some manner of preparation other than fried.
-
Do these things, and then in six months we will give further instructions.
-
Be consistent, be persistent and we will find we will gain by these activities.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 9/6/43 Mrs. [2946]‘s letter: “Mrs. [3186] is more hopeful than she has been since the disease hit her.”
R2. 7/60 In Dr. W. N. Pahnke’s breakdown of 69 cases of multiple sclerosis from the Edgar Cayce records, he classified Case [3186] in Group I.
Background
Background
B1. 8/26/43 Letter from [3186]: “I have been ill, if it can be termed that, since 1932, but latterly, since 1937, with multiple sclerosis. This was diagnosed in May, 1937 at Iowa State Hospital, by Dr. Clarence Van Epps, head of the Neurological Department. At that time he prescribed quinine sulphate, and at a subsequent check-up, cerelexin, [?] a Vitamin B-1 complex. At the present time, and in fact for the past two years, I have taken no medicine, trying instead to live as normal a life as is possible under certain physical restrictions. I do not expect you to be able to prescribe a cure for me, as from my understanding of this disease, the nerves, once destroyed, cannot grow back again anymore than an amputated limb. However, it is possible that you may be able to recommend some sort of treatment, or medicines, that will stall off any further inroads this disease may make, and which I understand is to be expected in my case…”
Questions submitted for 3186-1 but not asked:
- What can I do to improve my physical condition?
- Do I have to look forward to what the doctors tell me, just getting a little bit more awkward, less able to help myself and get around each year?
- Is there anything that can be done, either by myself or by doctors, that can keep my physical condition in the status quo even?
- Just exactly what has caused this condition? (I’ve been quite curious about that, as they say the cause is unknown. There is a man here who has multiple sclerosis, too. If you can help me, then I shall be able to help him, too, and I think that would be quite wonderful. I think he is far worse than I am.)
