GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions as I ask them:
-
EC: As we find still there are those disturbances from the lack of activity in the muscular forces - in the lower lumbars and through the lower dorsal areas.
-
We would in the present apply each day for three days in succession each week the Castor Oil Packs over the liver area, and the Glyco-Thymoline Packs over the back and the kidney area. These as we find, with heat, will aid the body more.
-
Use the Oil Packs the same three days each week. On the evening following the 3rd Pack each week, take internally at least one tablespoonful of Olive Oil.
-
The Glyco-Thymoline Packs may be put on of evening and kept on - sleep on them - bind them on and keep them on all evening. If they disturb in the night, remove them.
-
These, with precautions as to diet, with occasionally a good, thorough massage, should keep the better conditions for the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 10/15/43 “I rec’d the rdg. today and I was so glad to get it. I began to get scared. I am always afraid of losing the use of my legs. Now I am worrying about how many times I will have to stew in that Castor Oil. Horrors, what a mess and smell. Well, do or die, so I am going to get at it… I didn’t know if I would hold together until I would get the rdg. or not. I was worried. My nerves must have been all tied up in knots, besides my liver standing on its head. Many thanks.”
R2. 10/22/43 “I prepared everything and used the Castor Oil Packs for 3 times with the Glyco and the Olive Oil as directed. What a sweet old time I had. I started the Oil Packs just after lunch time and was up most of the night. After the third siege I went almost blind and was so dizzy that I couldn’t have felt much worse and live to tell the story. The liver became active after the first Pack. I was so weak and miserable that I wouldn’t try it again I would wait and get more information on the subject, such as others’ experience who faced the ordeal and went through with it with more confidence than I have. I need the stimulation of their success…
“I have a slick way of using the oil packs. I take a piece of woolen blanket, 4 thicknesses, heat the oil in a stew pan and pour it on the pad - heat the pad first. It is awful hot at first. Then I sit with my back [see note in R3 below] to the grate and simmer; pouring the hot oil on the pad is not nearly so messy as dipping it in a pan of oil, and it doesn’t take so much oil either, and I do the same with the Glyco. However, I would like to know how other poor sufferers make out. You know misery loves company.”
R3. 10/29/43 EC reminded her of the correct way to use the packs according to the directions sent her. [Heat was to be over the liver area where she had applied the pack, etc.]
“I personally have used them quite a number of times myself and had most excellent results, as have many others who have had them indicated and who have used them exactly as indicated or directed. Doubtless it was what you needed, alright, but possibly not quite so severe. I do hope, though, that you are feeling a lot better before now… We are so darn busy we don’t know whether we are going or coming.”
R4. 5/8/44 “Thank you so much for making room for me… I do hope you can get something to do that will clear my woozy head out, and tell me a few things that I am anxious to know. Is it a general nervous upset or a toxic poisoning condition, or heart trouble entirely? Well, whatever it is it has taken all the joy out of my life and left me nearly blind and my legs like soft rubber… Tell your silent partner not to make it Castor Oil swimming. I can’t swim in water, let alone Castor Oil, and be sure and tell him thanks.”
R5. 5/15/44 A form ltr. was sent, signed Edgar Cayce via MV, making her appointment.
R6. 5/18/44 “You may as well refund the
10. I may be dead and buried long before 2/19/45!" 5/23/44 EC dictated a letter apologizing and ret'd her10.R7. 10/21/44 “I do wish you hadn’t turned me down so cold, for I needed help so much and still do. To be in such misery all the time is no fun. I didn’t realize you felt that I was playing a very selfish part and I was hurt right through and through. Hope all is well with you all.”
R8. 10/28/44 GD sent form ltr. about EC’s illness, etc.
R9. 12/17/44 Ltr. to GD: “I have been merely a most miserable patient of Mr. Cayce’s for 18 yrs., and I am still the same. Although Mr. Cayce has helped me over many difficult situations, and I have always been grateful for that. A cure I haven’t looked for, but help for the time being. I am sorry Mr. Cayce is sick. He has too much on his mind of a weakening nature… I have had a nervous breakdown since I was 38 yrs. old, with all its accompanying miseries. Often it gets out of my control and I need help so I write to Mr. Cayce. That is where I am now.”
R10. 5/27/45 She wrote to EC, not having heard that he had passed on: “I would have written to you a long time ago but felt you wouldn’t care to hear from me. I have always been such a nuisance one way or another, and I, too, have been very badly off, not caring much if I lived or died, as most of my faculties are dead anyway. My eyes have almost given out on me. My stomach has almost stopped operating, and my legs are like soft rubber and have almost refused to carry me. My head is in a whirl. So, you see, living with Mrs. [464] has not been the most pleasant thing in the world…
“In the midst of so much sorrow came a great joy. Daughter […] had a baby girl on Jan. 30th… I have been coaxing them to come home, so has daughter [2144]. What a lot of unhappy hours are spent through separations when we may as well all be together, sharing each other’s sorrows and sharing each other’s joys.
“If it is so you can write I would appreciate hearing from you all once more. In case you have forgotten, my address is…” [Forms were sent telling her of EC’s death, etc.]
R11. 1/28/48 Routine mailing was returned marked NOT HERE - GONE.

B3. 8/23/43 “I just rec’d your note. There is no hurry for the rdg. We are all going to be away the wk. starting Sat. the 4th Sept., so make your plans after that… I expect to go away to Mich. with [2144] and husband for a few days if I am equal to it.”
B4. 8/30/43 EC attempted rdg., 4:05 P.M., following 3186-1: “No, the body isn’t here.”
