This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th Day of July, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [464] - Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:15 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Ohio.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [464]; this we have had before.
-
Conditions are not so good.
-
Unless there are greater precautions taken, as we have indicated, these disturbances will bring about weaknesses that will be very aggravating and very detrimental to the body.
-
We would not take more of the vitamin pills until the liver and colon have become more normal in activity, - until there have been at least two more of the colonic irrigations, but don’t make these too close together. Have these about ten days apart.
-
The taste from the mouth and stomach should indicate when the bile has begun to flow normally through the system.
-
If it is necessary to produce more of such, we would use the Castor Oil Packs over the liver for at least two days before the colonics are given - even though it may be terrifying in hot or warm weather.
-
At the time the colonic is given, do have a massage especially with the oils. The type of sweat should be preferably that taken in water, not in dry cabinet; reclining in a tub of hot water, you see, or warm water - with the Pine Oils in same; and then a thorough massage afterwards.
-
When better conditions are set up, begin taking the vitamins but NOT in the juices or at the same time juices are taken, for this upsets the body. Do that.
-
We are through for the present.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/28/42 “If this note smells of Castor Oil don’t be surprised. I have been saturated with it and it is a terrible mess. I don’t know if I have done anything that will do any good. It is not so easy to manage hot packs alone. I did the best I could. I will go to Miss Butterfass’ Friday night again, if I am able to make the trip. I still have that bitter taste in my mouth and sour stomach. If that bile doesn’t burn my insides out, I suppose it will go away in time.”
R2. 8/17/42 “You will be wanting to know how I got along with the treatments. Well, not so good. I felt as long as I had that bitter taste and acid in my stomach that things were not right and there was no use taking the vitamin pills as long as I was like that, being full of that toxic poisoning. I didn’t know what to do, so I didn’t do anything.
“The colonics weakened me down so much that I am a wreck. When I take anything I like to know all about it. I think there is some dope in those vitamin pills, maybe a very small amount but enough to cause a reaction if you take them, then stop. I am terribly disappointed over it all. Was in hope I could take the treatments and feel a lot better, instead of that I feel a lot worse. I am not worrying about anything unless it is the war, and I do get to feeling upset over it.”
R3. 9/3/42 “I tried to take those vitamins but it sent my blood pressure sky high, and now I am about down and out. I can’t take medicine of any kind. It always affects my heart. I guess I am a hopeless case… Well, I have plenty to think about of a nature that would not improve anyone’s health. As the mind is the whole thing I can easily see why I feel so bad all the time. No one knows but just myself what I am up against. I know I am over sensitive and imagine a lot. There is nothing to live for anyway, my work is done. God is housecleaning the whole world… I hope when the Lord comes to claim his own He won’t leave me here alone. Although I don’t know what He could find to do with me, I am just hoping He doesn’t forget me, for I don’t want to stay here and have to battle with this sickness and the world all alone. Are you ready to go when the trumpet sounds?”
R4. 9/9/42 EC’s reply, ignoring her question: “The turmoils and strife that are abroad in the world are very disturbing to every well-thinking person, I am sure. We may wonder whether this or that is the basis of the trouble, or we may even feel like giving up the whole matter; yet, like Peter of old, we can only say, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.’ John 6:68]
“I feel sure that if you would get the system cleared thoroughly before beginning on the build, then use the right sort of builder, you should get a great deal of help…
“With so much war preparations about, the place can never seem quite the same as we have known - but changes must come, and we will just have to prepare ourselves for them, whether we like it or not.
“Do take care. Don’t give up. There is much work to be done.”
R5. 1/29/43 “I have had asthma all winter. When I come downstairs in the morning it takes me an hr. or so to get enough breath to walk across the floor, then sit down and gas for more breath again. It is terrible…Daughter…and family came back here last Oct. She hated it in Mich. and was just sick. She was so homesick so they came back… Daughter expects in May and she is passing through these terrible anxious times…her son is 9 and little daughter is 5…she is afraid of twins this time, there are signs. I will go nuts, for I am no good to help… I wish I could talk to you. I never get a chance to talk to interesting people. I have my books, they are my companions.”
R6. 2/2/43 EC’s letter: “Sorry to hear you are troubled with asthma. My poor old mother had it for a long, long time. Then when the rdgs. developed there were suggestions that helped a lot - is one of the things that made me think. Of course, there are many kinds and many causes for asthma. One would have to know the cause to be able to say very definitely, but think if you would try taking Atomidine for a few days it would help you. Begin with one drop in half a glass of water before breakfast each morning for, say, five mornings, but each morning increase the dose one drop, so on the fifth day you are taking five drops; but take for five days and then leave off for three days, and when you begin again take one drop and increase each day one drop until you are taking five, then leave off again. Do that and let me know how it works with you, and if it doesn’t help will see if we can find something to suggest for you…
“The story of my life has been published, am sending you a copy. Maybe it will give you something to read for a while. Be sure and write me what you think of it, won’t you?
“Was in N.Y. last week - came home to find Miss Gladys sick with the mumps, so we are being held up with work for a while.
“Be sure and let me hear how the Atomidine works with you.”
R7. 2/8/43 “The book you sent arrived safely. I will read it with a great deal of pleasure and tell you about it. So thank you very much. I appreciate your kindness… I am just recovering from a 3 day dizzy spell. I followed your advice and felt better right away. My head and my eyes are not so good.”
R8. 2/20/43 “I have read your book and I must say I haven’t words to express what I think and feel for you about all you have gone through with. I had no idea just how contemptible people can act. I thought our trouble with […] was pretty bad until I read your book. Now I know how terribly persecuted you have been… I have learned a few lessons the past year - no doubt I needed them…I know now what Mrs. Dillman [Mrs. Chas. W. (Gladys) Dillman] meant when she said ‘We are just devoted to the Cayces.’ So well she may be, knowing all your troubles, but I feel like a thief.”
R9. 3/1/43 Mrs. [464] wrote angrily of her 75 yr. old husband, how he had fallen in love with another woman (at the store where he worked) when she, Mrs. [464], was 38 yrs. old; she had a nervous breakdown and it was the cause of all her troubles - she should have divorced him but instead they tried to live as ‘friends’ and she let him run after other women all these years. This anger is what has kept her ill.
“One thing he is scared to death of me. Daughter […] says she is afraid to leave me alone with him for fear I will kill him. Well, I feel like it often enough. We are no more alike than daylight or dark. I never knew a man who likes to go visiting like he does. That is where he gets into all his trouble.”
R10. 7/11/43 “Daughter […] and her family moved to Mich. again after her baby son was born, so we are alone again. [Husband] is no company. He is so deaf he can’t hear anything. Conversation is out. How unfortunate…” [See notations from this ltr. in 464-32, Life Rdg. Reports.]
R11. 8/16/43 “I am writing for a rdg. You may think I have a lot of nerve asking for a rdg. when I know how busy you are, but I can’t help it - I am having a lot of sick trouble. My liver, kidneys, and especially my bladder are acting up again and I have been dizzy in the head so much that I am alarmed. I was feeling quite good there for a while, then it hit me all of a sudden. Daughter [2144] called in Dr. Gerber but his medicine didn’t seem to do the right thing. I feel rotten all over. [2144] and I planned to go to Mich., but I had to give it up as usual.”
