This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of January, 1929, in accordance with request made by her son, Mr. [257].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here - Mrs. [325] - this we have had before. The body feels some better at this time; yet these are not satisfactory conditions as we find relating to the physical forces of this body. There is the continuation of that accumulation as has been seen and given, as affects the body throughout, or that as comes to the glands about the breast [incipient cancer]. With the exercises of the body physical and mental, and whenever there are strainings of any character, whether of mental or physical, these manifest themselves in producing the strain on WHATEVER portion of the body as is under cycle change at that period. As is seen here, the greater distress coming to the lower radial plexus or across the small of the back - and the lower limbs being cut off, in a manner, of the proper incentives through nerve condition - these bring acute conditions, through the attempt of these formations to cut off, as it were, the nutriment as should produce equalization in the system. Hence there becomes necessary that the applications of heat, or of heat with those properties as will relax the centers so affected, sufficiently for the system to attempt to re-adjust itself under the present strain. The applications as have been given have assisted, yet the stomach - the digestive system, especially lower portion of same - suffers still, as does now the nausea that comes spasmodically, and the headaches. These, then, are reflexes in the system attempting to adjust itself, or may be called properly retraction in system.

2. We would, then, CLEANSE the alimentary canal - not by that as would cause an accumulation in any portion of the body from the conditions as are existent throughout the alimentary canal, but rather those that will absorb or will give to the system those of sufficient energy in themselves to be active principles with the digestive system.

3. Begin, then, with a small amount of olive oil - not sufficient that same becomes rancid in the system, but ALTERNATE same with the Russian White Oil (in its original state, preferably), and these will be found to cooperate one with another. Let at least two to two and a half hours intervene between the doses of each. We would begin with a half a teaspoonful the pure olive oil. Then in two and a half or three hours the tablespoonful of the Russian Oil. Continue this until there is a full reaction from the effects of this produced in the system, see?

4. THEN we would begin with manipulations - osteopathic] and don’t begin with these until this condition has thoroughly acted, see? Gently given, and applying heat with that of the saturated solution of the Epsom Salts over shoulder and through that portion of the body where the pains become most severe. The gentle massage - not too deep, but consistent and persistent.

5. Keep up many of those things as has been given, as in the form of the Radium Appliance - but these are NOT to be used unless the manipulations are given to equalize the effects produced. Do that. We will bring the bettered conditions for this body, Mrs. [325].

6. We are through with this reading.

R2. 1/24/29 “I received the readings the first of the week, as I told you over the phone. It is all true. It was just as I felt. I just had too much to do and my maid was ill and company. So you see it reacted on me. I did all of the things that the reading brought forth. I feel better at this time but still have some pain across shoulders.

“Daughter [459] and family are getting along nicely. [4159] is making quite a name for himself in the poultry raising and had quite a nice sermon last week that was published in the paper.

“Well, we sold our Kentucky home. [See 325-25.] I did not get one cent in cash for myself, but if we have good luck with investments as the reading says, I will not forget your interest, so we cannot speculate with it. Well, it took all the property almost to settle…[my late husband’s debts], but I am glad that I was able to do it and put forth the needs of the children at that time. Now they are all repaying me. I wish that I could be well and strong enough to enjoy it all, but let us hope and pray for that to come.

“I do hope that you and all at your home are in good health. I received the booklet on the hospital and it was good to read.

“[903] is feeling very well. I can’t see how that I can go to [[558] in Oklahoma] when [903] expects at the same time. Her mother is not coming, and with the first baby one needs encouragement. [GD’s note: Mrs. [903] was her son [257]‘s pregnant wife.]

“Well, maybe I’ll have time for both, we will see. With God’s help all will be well.

“I am enclosing just a little gift to you personally as [257] takes care of the readings. I wish it was more. Maybe it will be after a while. So take the Madam and see a good show.
